"The décor is simple, with a display of photos and messages on post-it notes from customers gone by. Aunt Aoy spent much of her career cooking in hotel kitchens. Her expertise is realised in the fluffy yet crispy Chef Omelette with stir-fried minced pork, salted egg and pork crackling." - Michelin Inspector

I visited Krua Pa Oi in August 2025 - MICHELIN-recognized and beloved by locals, students, and travelers alike for its hearty, home-style Thai cooking. I ordered Pa Oi's legendary Kai Sing. At the base, it looks like a regular Thai-style omelet — Kai Jiao — but this is omelet artistry. Deep-fried to golden perfection, with those lacy, crispy edges and a fluffy interior. On its own, it’s already delicious. But the magic is in the topping. First, a generous heap of minced pork, stir-fried with garlic and a secret sauce that coats every bite with rich umami. Then comes the salted egg, creamy and buttery, adding that signature depth. Finally — the knockout punch — crispy pork rinds. Big, irregular, and gloriously crunchy. That contrast of textures, from soft egg to savory pork to the loud crunch of the rind, is just addictive. A sprinkling of green chili and spring onion gives the final lift, balancing all that richness. This is not just comfort food — it’s a masterclass in flavor and texture, best devoured hot with a side of jasmine rice. For my full review, do check out my video diary in my YouTube Channel!

Good food. I will go back there again. We ordered recommend dishes on the menu - Phoo Nim Pat Pong Kari and Khai Zing - with Tom Yum soup. Laid back atmosphere. The street parking is easy to find. If no parking nearby, there is a parking lot of Chiang Mai University just opposite.

Great food. Worth Michelin Gourmand title. Soft shell crab with garlic and chef Omelette are excellent. The seafood rice noodle salad is also good. Must try if you up are in Chiang Mai.

Very basic for the price that you are paying here! The Michelin Gourmand rating probably brought in too much attention to them. But the restaurant is made very much for expats and tourists and doesn't actually bring down the originality of the Thai flavour that one would expect while travelling. Even for the expats it's not an amazing place. I had the "Thai basil rice with shrimp" which was very average and the omelette with minced pork which was very oily.

Very homey place. Drinks are self service. Food is quite fast, but maybe cuz we went nearly their closing time so not many tables left. The food we ordered were tasty. Stir fried soft-shell crab was exceptionally delicious. Really recommend. Apparently the place is famous among Korean tourists also.

The soft shell crab with curry tasted extremely good. Highly recommend the omelette as well. Portions are pretty big, so be careful of over ordering. Loved it here! Great food

Although it's a Michelin-starred restaurant, the taste didn't really amaze me. The dishes are just more innovative. The soft-shell crab is the signature dish, very crispy, but it lacks the fresh flavor. The breaded pork?(don’t remember the name)is okay, but a little bit oily
