Great food. Especially the spice box. Bartenders are hit and miss. The male bartenders are good but a couple of the female bartenders act like they would rather be anywhere else and are rude. Pity.

Great bar with a lot of seating and games. There's a window in the back to order food at, and the food is great. The loaded fries and spice bag were favorites. The pool table is usually free during the day.

Drinks are cheap, but the bartenders are rude as hell, and the bouncer was a complete douchebag. Don’t recommend unless you’re also a pretentious hipster. 🙄 Their food however is absolutely phenomenal and has so many options that are accessible to vegetarians/vegans.

The best dive in the area. This is the type of place I long for in NYC and Brooklyn. Straightforward service, great atmosphere, and the addition of I Like Food just takes it over the top, everything there is delicious and their waitress is consistently the friendliest person in the city and always makes my day better.

This establishment committed fraud. I made a purchase from here. While doing that, I watched the bar tender yell and insult a customer for not tipping enough. I ended up not tipping at all for receiving no service for over 30 mins waiting to order and because the bar tender yelled at a man in front of his woman for only tipping $6 on a $70 bill. I received a notification from my bank asking if I meant to tip 100%. I noticed that I was charged way more than what I swiped my card for and signed on the receipt. I did not tip and wrote "no tip". This place legit committed fraud and did not return my call after I left a voicemail. I contacted my bank and within 5 minutes I was credited the money. However, I will never return here. Also, I watched a guy walk outside and begin to smoke Crack. I had never seen this before and only knew because everyone outside started yelling about his behavior. This is a sketchy establishment with poor ethics.

WINGS AND NACHOS ARE THE BEST ON PERIOD ! Go straight to the back to order food, then go to the bar so you don't have to run your card back and forth. The margarita is pretty good, a little sour but not bad. The wings are SO GOOD, idk what they're doing to them. Perfect crust on the outside, sauce on point. The nachos have pickled veggies that set it off in the best way. Chicken tenders weren't bad, but they pale next to these other snacks. Update: good lord. The fried pickle mix is absurd. Please make this permanent. Banana peppers are mixed in and my gawd, it's amazing. This is why I'll never lose any weight 😩

Good food and cool looking bar with a pretty nice selection of drinks. Unfortunately it suffers from the snobbery that plagues a lot of other hipster spots. The bartenders are not really hospitable, especially if you are not one of the cool kids

They really don't make bars like this anymore. Perfect neighborhood bar with not glitz and glamour, just great vibes, the patrons are all cool, the food is spectacular and the drinks are reasonably priced. Came here on a recommendation as since I live nearby, figured this was the move on a Sunday. I even ran into a podcast couple that I follow and on their show they've actually talked about Ginny's. I see why! The shot and a beer special is always a plus with a Ganset and the bartender was speedy and attentive on a moderately busy afternoon. The food is really something special! I ordered off of the secret menu for the buffalo chicken quesadilla, (because it had bacon), and got some wings. The wings were fried perfectly and had such flavor. Juicy chicken with stellar sauces. The quesadilla was an absolute banger. Good buffalo flavor and lots of chicken, it was a really well composed dish. I will definitely be back as I loved everything about Ginny's!

The food is way better than it has any right to be. I tried chicken fingers, fries and nachos and all of it was dank. I honestly would come to this dive bar again just to eat, even if I didn't want to drink! Bathroom was gross though.

Aunt Ginny's is a spacious bar good for groups of friends. Nice vibe and music. Nice dark lighting.

I tried the pernil wrap on recommendation from staff and it was great. Friendly service and nice daytime ambience.

Very unhelpful and extremely slow in response when I asked for help (CCTV review) after I lost my valuable while I was there. All the tips that I paid while there was such a waste. I was not able to retrieve the lost items without the video showing the person who took my belongings. It's my fault that I lost my valuables but getting help to retrieve is different issue.

Best Mac Chicken ! The service is quick and prompt. I love the ambiance and music, truly a gem in ridgewood. Second time here and the food has been great. I had the fried cheese and zatar fries as side dishes. Definitely a must have!

I am a local that would love to have a nearby dive bar. Aunt Ginny's recently posted on instagram children are not welcome, whether with my kid or not, I personally have never felt welcome as a 30-something woman. The bar could be completely empty and you still would wait to order a drink and the bartender has only scowls and contemptuous looks for you. There are plenty of better alternatives in Ridgewood.

I live within walking distance of Aunt Ginny's. I've heard about it before, but until last Sunday, I had ZERO ideas about how amazing this place was! Came here on a whim when my friends and I realized The Flying Fox Tavern was closed on Sundays. As soon as I stepped into Aunt Ginny's, I felt at home. The place is HUGE and it totally reminded me of my favorite rock dive bar, Rocka Rolla. There weren't too many people there when we got there but man was it packed when we left. We spent a few hours there just drinking and enjoying the music. The music was all over the place and I really loved that. Blasting Judas Priest's greatest hits when we got there delighted me to no end. Then they played Kenny Loggins, Chaka Kahn, Kurtis Blow, AC/DC, and some death metal. Seating is abundant! The bar is huge and there are lots of booth and table seating. A picture booth in the back along with a pool table and two arcade games. Plenty of bathrooms. The most random of decorations on the wall. Friendly bartender. Huge and cheap drinks. Their cocktail menu has everything I love on it. Dark and Stormy!! Although they use ginger syrup for drinks that call for ginger beer. It's not bad, but it's POTENT so watch out. Their best drink though is the frozen passionfruit margarita. Sooooo yummy. You get a bang for your buck with their $10 drinks. They have a tiny kitchen in the back called I Like Food that opens up at 5. It was funny watching everyone literally run to the back when 5 PM came around. I thought, hey, food must be good! Went up and ordered Churro Fries. Man, they were so good. Regular french fries were dusted with cinnamon sugar and came with a chocolate dipping sauce. Mmmmmmm! So good. They give you a number and they bring the food to your table. Looking forward to my next visit. The only downside is the number of hipsters that come to this place. Ewww.

The best part of Aunt Ginnys is ilikefood in the back. I haven't eaten a bad thing there yet. If you like bar food then you been to check it out. Wings, nachos and whatnot but elevated with flavor mashups that make it extra special. And if they have a special definitely get it! The menu is well thought out and even better executed

$7 Gin & Sodas and that wasn't even a happy hour special - I've heard the food is amazing so now I definitely need to go back.

Food in the back and grab a number. While you wait you can get cocktails or cheap beer and shots if you like or an underrated pint of Guinness at the bar. Staff never makes you feel unwanted which can happen at similar bars. Perfect neighborhood joint

Bartender was awesome, however this guy (not sure what his position is there) but he was a big ole douche last night. My friend has a disability and can't stand for too long with his cane. This guy was trying to pull down the gates to close (which is understandable). To be clear this was the gate, not the actual front door to the bar. I asked nicely if he didn't mind waiting two minutes until his Uber arrived bc he is disable and can't really hold himself up. As a bartender, I know they would still be closing down/cleaning the actual bar. His response was "yeah well I have a disability too". Cool bro. So you think someone with a said disability would understand and have some compassion. Nope, made him leave and was a asshole about it. I mean maybe he was having a bad night, but damn dude try harder and don't be a cunt just to be a cunt. I would also like to say, I created a yelp account just to leave this post.

Good local bar. Nice bartenders, good drinks and food. Casual and welcoming. No pretentious bs. I'll be back.

Aunt Ginny's is my local bar and I loved it, all my friends do. But I won't be coming back. Friday I when to get a drink with my friend,I pay the first round that in was only 2 drinks ( $20) not bad at all, and I left a $5 tip ( they didn't give me a physical receipt). After that my friend got more drinks and I got the food. The next day when I check my card it says they charge me $30. So I was confused when I check my online receipt( that they send almost 3hr later than when I pay) it says they put in a $10 dollar tip. It's not even about the extra $5 dollars that they took, it's about trust !!! What would've happened if it was a bigger tap? Are they going around just adding tips without asking ??? Did they did it because they trough we were drunk already and we weren't going to remember!? Honestly is just sad that they would do this.

Aunt Ginny's is a great bar for ADULTS. Their staff are fun, quick and know a lot about the neighborhood. Won't mention any here by name, because that's not appropriate, so go in and make some friends. If you're not sure if you should bring kids, a simple search right here on Yelp will assist you. Is it a restaurant? Great, call ahead to see how they can accommodate your family. Is it a bar and only a bar? Leave kids at home!

One of THE BEST bars I've come across in a long time. Food is absolutely phenomenal. Draft selection is on point. Dog friendly and super cool. Omg I love love love this place

The "I Like Food" in the back is impressive. Our bartender wasn't the sweetest, we are all human though. I will definitely be back to check it out again. Everyone speaks so very highly.

If you are in the area, you should make the effort to stop in. The bar has that comfortable feeling of a neighborhood bar. The kind of place that you can go to and always feel at home. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the food from @ilikefoodnyc is really something special. Order in the back of the bar (near the pool table), and in just a short time, restaurant quality bar food will arrive at you table/seat. Seriously - the food is something very special - and of course if you are on the run...order it to go.

Came here for a buddy's birthday. Great priced beer combos. Plenty of space at the booths and tables. Poool table. Buck hunter and Marvel vs capcom Bud n Jameson 8 bucks. CNt go wrong. Food was great. Ghost pepper wings were fantastic. Not too spicy. Would get again.

Ok I deleted my first review because it was slightly unfair. I definitely liked this bar a lot until the other day, when I came in during the day hours with my two and a half year old, and some friends who also have a few kids. We sat at a table in the back room, away from the bar which we've done at this bar before. However the staff clearly didn't like this from the start, and instead of telling us ahead of time, the bartender came up to us after we had finished eating and having a beer, and said that we need to watch our kids better. Honestly they were pretty well Behaved, and we were about to leave anyway at that point. As a result of him saying this I definitely lost my temper a little bit and I regret that. However, if it truly bothers you that much for parents in their 30's to bring their kids to your bar (which really isn't a dive bar despite claims) on a Saturday afternoon, then put up a sign on the door saying "people under 21 not permitted". There are plenty of other places we can take our kids. The attitude isn't necessary, especially in a neighborhood that is full of young-ish parents who enjoy a leisurely drink here and there. It is a cool bar that plays great music, and has good food, but the rude/cold/huffy puffy staff is enough for me to not come back. Lastly, way to allow multiple dogs into the place while you cook and serve food, but then you have the nerve to complain about my kid quietly playing with your video game. P.S- Not sure if the hateful message I received from someone calling me a "retard" while also referring to my "shi**y kids" was from an employee, but honestly I wouldn't be that surprised. See below

I realize there are not a lot of options in the area, but that doesn't make this a great bar. As others have observed, it was loud, especially given that it was empty on the Monday night I was there. It had a honky tonk vibe I didn't care for either. That's all Ok, but I didn't care for the bartenders, who showed me no hospitality whatsoever. I sat at the nearly empty bar for quite some time being ignored by the bartenders. I came straight from work, in business casual attire, and have found that sometimes leads to being iced out in this area. Bartender also didn't know the beers, and told me the Bells Two Hearted wasn't an IPA, and the River Horse Triple Horse was. Oh well.

This is my favorite bar. Period. Sometimes I'm not sure if my wife and I moved to Ridgewood because of the place we found, or because we fell in love with Aunt Ginny's. It has all the things you like about a classic dive bar, except its exceptionally clean. Its the neighborhood bar you wish existed in other parts of New York, but alas don't. The bartenders are some of the nicest people I've ever met, and always make us feel right at home. Whether we're trying to have a fun Saturday out, or have had a rough day at work and just need a pick me up, its the perfect place to hang. I Look Food, which is the food service in the back, is also absolutely incredible. Its all the comfort food of your dreams with regularly changing specials that are always awesome. Whenever my wife asks me what I want to do when we have a day off, the answer is inevitably, "let's go to Ginny's."

Super friendly staff. RUDEST door dude I have ever encountered. Maybe the guy had a bad day? Maybe he just sucks. Either way he ruined the whole thing. Incredibly unwelcoming. Ended up getting food to go and even that was uncomfortable. Sadly won't be going back.

Low-key dive vibes during the day. Pops off a little more at night. The bartenders are super chill. The food by I Like Food is BOMB. Delicious vegan options: nachos, quesadillas, corn dogs, pernils (aka Sloppy Joes), fried pickles & pepperoncini, buffalo chicken tenders with homemade vegan ranch, churro fries, etc. The list goes on. So happy to have a spot like this so close to home.

Any bar that has taxidermied squirrels drinking bud Weiser alongside a photo of Herve villaches surrounded by adoring women is a safe place for me. And there is a taco shack in back!

I love this place. It's a pretty busy dive bar. Arthur is the best. That dude cracks me up. ( *_*) ( ) /\ It's a good shitty dive bar with better than usual bar food and cute dogs.

This place really is like Cheers. Our local bar is a true gem-- the staff is so welcoming and even remember my usual drink which always feels great aside from the fact that I am incredibly predictable. The bar is clean and the pool table in back is such a bonus. Don't even get me started on the food, I could go on and on about how delicious everything that comes out of the I Like Food window in back is but you're better off trying for yourself. That little kitchen packs a mighty wallop. Suffice it to say that if Aunt Ginny was a real human, I would imagine her to have a big ole' southern coif, impeccable makeup and style, welcoming of all walks of life and eager to serve you one helluva drink and meal. Best neighborhood bar, hands down.

Awesome neighborhood dive bar!! One of the best Bloody Mary drinks I've had!! Good bar snacks and cool atmosphere. Lots of places to sit with friends and a pool table in the back. A little bit of a rock metal crowd but that works for me!!! Good times at this place. All the bartenders are nice and down to earth. No pretense and good vibes! Fair prices as well!!

Well it started off as a good night until I tried paying my bill. All I asked was to close out my check and after the bartender in some Hawaiian shirt told me okay he kept taking drink orders and completely ignored me. When I complained to other bearded bartender he said okay and walked to otherside of the bar and seen my wife on the other end who he thought wanted a drink. Is it because Im spanish I don't know... Maybe. Anyways my white wife looked at the bartender and said I don't want a drink my husband has been trying close the check for 30 minutes. So we finally get the check but after hearing the bartenders saying F... Them. You know I have lived in this neighborhood for years and I felt discriminated against. Sad on what I thought was a kool pace is now a place of discrimination. I will never go here again and I will let all of my friends who are from many different ethnic backgrounds and from the neighborhood my exeperience at Aunt A$$h@les.

Yo this place RUUUUULES!! Came by with my boys the other day and drank the tastiest Coors Lights on draught ever! The service was just fantastic! I believe the bartender working was named Arthur and he was just a sweetheart! Every time I got to my last sip of my brew he was quick to have that other Silver Bullet ready in hand for my drinking needs. I highly recommend getting food from their kitchen in the back! And again, I still got that all star service. I ordered the chicken parm sammie and it was probably the best chicken parm sammie I've had in my entire living existence. Day or night the vibes there are always the chillest of vibes ever. Go grab a beer and sammie! It's my favorite bar right now!!!!!

Service here sucks. So bad. Came here twice and definitely won't be going back. Typical dive bar with bartenders that take 20 minutes to ask you if you want another drink and when you order one they can't seem to muster up enough energy to even acknowledge what you said. Really made me laugh when I read the sign they hung up behind the bar saying "Good tippers go to heaven"....seriously? If the owners can't pay their bartenders a high enough wage that they need to rely on customers to pay it, then at least tell them to be friendly...or human. Dealing with these bartenders was like talking to a brick wall. I'm usually not one to nitpick on service, but god this was bad. Two stars for the tasty margarita and reasonable prices, but I'm good on having to wait 20 minutes to be acknowledged when there are 3 bartenders behind the bar. It was absolutely unreal how bad the service here was and sucked that I actually had to leave a tip for these people.

I went to this bar for the first time with my family, which included some younger 21 year olds sure. The customer service was terrible. If I could give this place one star I would. The bartender didn't give us our drinks when asked because "we don't tip" but we were not done drinking. Maybe at the end of our total transaction we would have done so. She was completely rude and assumed so made the choice not to serve us. When we asked for a manager, another bar tender told us we were all drunk and had to go (after two rounds). Will not be coming back FOR SURE.

Down-to-earth bar that feels like a real neighborhood joint. Kitschy wall art, reclaimed glass light fixtures, and plenty of exposed wood bring to mind that den in your great-uncle's house that's been basically the same since the '70s. Expect rockabilly, country, classic garage rock, old rhythm & blues and the like on the sound system. On certain nights you'll find a DJ spinning old rock'n'roll and soul records. Drinks are reasonably priced for the area. Bartenders are friendly and attentive, and have a great rapport with regulars. Sitting at the bar around happy hour, you'll likely find the all-black-denim and blue-collar crowds are represented well, but I def wouldn't say any one or two demographics lay claim to Aunt Ginny's. If you're around, you're welcome. And sometimes your dog is welcome too -- although I don't have the authority to promise it's 100% dog-friendly all the time. As of this writing (Dec. 2019), the food counter in the back is operated by I Like Food, who serve up fresh and satisfying hot sandwiches, burgers, fries and sides, at very fair prices. Pool table in the back, leather booths up front, stools facing out the front window, sidewalk seating in good weather, and a chill enough vibe that I've always been able to find a seat and have a freewheeling conversation with a friend.

Fun and friendly bar staff. Delicious creative bar menu. Great place to meet up with friends or meet new friends. After moving to the neighborhood just over a year ago my boyfriend and I have met some wonderful new people here.

This is a great neighborhood bar for a hangout or a medium-energy night. Standard drinks, good cocktails, frozen margaritas, pool table, lots of space. The music is very metal/punk rock-oriented, so it's definitely not a "clubbing" type of place. The kitchen is amazing, great bar food! Not a gay bar but very LGBT-friendly. 5 stars!

I came here a couple weeks ago after moving a block away six months ago. When I visited the first time the service was awesome. I noticed food was being served until at least 12:30 am. The last time I visited a bit before mid night on a weekend I was denied any food. Visited again this week and was told the bar was closed. A group of 4 came in after us and was served a couple containers of food in front of us. I legitimately left Ginny's as the bar at this point of the night to go to because of the food, and I was very mistaken. Very disappointed. Very unfair that another group went up to be served and were served rather than a group of 2 before us? This was our go-to bar for the past few months but will lose our business and recommendations. It's a shame because their bar service was pretty good..

It's amazing that people that own bars think they run them .I love all the bartenders here but this crowd is getting younger and younger.and I'm getting older by the Minuite. Check those ID's real good! Matt would never had allowed things to get this bad.

Good food, solid happy hour. Straight up, no frills solid dive bar. Good for a bite and a pint. Can get a bit crowded after 6pm.

Discovered this place a few months back. It's trying to be a dive bar, but it doesn't have that lived in look yet. The bartender and the manager were both friendly. So I can't complain. It's basically a metal/biker bar for the millennial set. If you like Cobra Club and Sweet Jane's, then you should be fine.

Am here now, and having a great time. Bar server is so nice, cool and very respectful. Been here a few times and have to say, this bar is great. Arthur is a great fixture in this bar. First time meeting Arthur and it's a pleasure. To management of Aunt Ginny's.
