The Enduring Allure of the Mall Pretzel | Eater

"A classic mall pretzel stand favored as a quick, portable pick-me-up while shopping: the soft pretzel hits the sweet spot of being carb-y enough to satisfy without leaving you sleepy, and it’s easy to eat on the move. Pretzels are typically handed out in a wax paper sleeve that tucks into a bag or coat pocket, and the doughy twist is commonly doused in buttery salt (that fake butter fixes a lot of problems when it gets cold or smooshed). For a neater option, pretzel bites in a cup protect the pieces, keep butter and salt from spreading through your purse, and make carrying dipping sauces—nacho cheese, mustard, or sweet icing—less messy. The writer also places this habit in the broader context of the soft pretzel’s long history and Philadelphia’s pretzel culture, but emphasizes the immediate practical appeal: the right-size snack to perk you up after trying on shoes or to celebrate finding the perfect pair, and a reliable mood booster during mall shopping." - Amy McCarthy

They force you to tip. You can be getting a piece of tissue, and they ask you to tip. I got one pretzal dog, took the guy 30 seconds (if not less) to hand it to me. Took essentially $2 in tips from me, when I was trying to tip lesser then that, since i only got a pretzal dog that's like $3. He saw me trying to tip less, then proceeded to press for the tip he wanted himself! Food was good though. But did not have a good customer experience.

Says on Google and Liberty Place website that they open at 930 and I get there around 945 but it’s closed. I’m very sad and upset cause I’m pregnant and my last few days, walked all the way over there from my office cause I was really craving an Oreo shake just for them to be closed.

This outlet of auntie Anne's is located inside the mall on the 2nd floor of food courts. Need to enter the mall to go to this outlet.

I ordered a parmesan garlic pretzel and it was literally a plain pretzel that they dumped some garlic and parmesan powder onto, after they already put it in a bag! Um, gross!!! The powder is nasty and not tasty at all how is that a parmesan garlic pretzel?! There was no parmesan it just tasted like a regular pretzel with way too much old garlic powder on it. Ugh! Not happy at all

A lady gave me a cinnamon pretzel with no bag. I asked her could I have one because I am traveling on public transportation and she looks at me with a attitude and gives me the bag like it’s coming out of her check. It’s national pretzel day … what is her attitude for?

My son really wanted a pretzel it was greasy and tasted awesome. The customer service was nice. I would recommend to have fresher pretzels for people especially when it’s pricey.

Google
This is store should be the model location for all other Auntie Anne’s! The pretzels are always fresh, hot and the team is always happy to serve!!! I make every effort to stop by even if it’s a little out of the way.

Yelp
Yummy snacks... And quick bites. First time having their food and it was scrumptious. I wouldn't mind having more of it.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Auntie Anne's in a long time when I decided to stop and get a cinnamon pretzel from this one inside Liberty Place. I took it back to the office. As soon as I broke off the first piece of pretzel I thought to myself that I don't remember their pretzels being this hard. Then I bit into it and discovered it was hard because it's burnt! I turned the pretzel over and the bottom is clearly burnt! How could they serve this? They had to see that it was burnt when they put the cinnamon on. Does nobody working there take even an ounce of pride in their work. Clearly not! Disgraceful! I will never come here again. No matter how good the pretzels may be most of the time, this type of lack of care about their product or what they are serving their customers says to me that they don't want my business!

Yelp
Rubbish customer service. My order was never delivered and when I tried to get that resolve the response was nonchalant and i was never refunded.

Yelp
Oh Auntie Anne's, how can you be so good when all your pretzels are is dough and extreme amounts of butter? I have worked at Auntie Anne's in the past, so I try to stir away from it. The fact that every single item is dumped in butter makes me want to vomit. However, I had an odd craving for some cinnamon sticks on my lunch break recently. I came here at the end of my lunch break, so I was able to order as soon as I walked up to the cash register. The cashier was very friendly and did not forget to ask me about sauces. Everything was in stock and looked fresh. My cinnamon sticks were delicious and filled my craving. If and when I do have a craving for Auntie Anne's again in my lunch break, I will come here again.

Yelp
Sweet almond pretzel is the only way to go. Crunchy, sweet, delicious. MMMMM. Get it, you won't be dissappointed. LOL

Yelp
I rarely indulge in a pretzel from Auntie Anne's, but when I do wait in line then put up the cash for one, I expect to receive at least a smile or ounce of kindness from the cashier. This is one of the places where I felt like I was being a hassle by trying to give this franchise business. Regardless of my cravings, I won't be coming back here.

Yelp
I love how the manager is super chill and understanding. I always get the cinnamon sugar pretzel, but I wanted to try the crunchy almond pretzel. It was really good, just not my taste preference. He gave me a full refund and I got to the home the cinnamon sugar pretzel. 5 for taste (fresh pretzels) and customer service, which is hard to come by for a franchise like Auntie Anne's.
