Every few times I'm in sloatsburg I like to stop here to grab a snack from their bakery and look at the plants they have for sale. I always find something fun or unique to take home with me. I recommend if you are like me and always drive past, take a stop here and look around.

My husband and I love this small shop. We hike at Harriman State Park and Auntie El's is on our way home. We've stopped by a few times and purchased a some items without regret! There are a lot of retro and vintage items in the shop in addition to fresh baked goods, incense, homemade candles, hot sauces. The chocolate chip cookies & mini pies are our favorite. The shop is easy to spot from your car while in the road and the staff is polite and friendly :) There is fresh produce and lots of plants! I really enjoy this shop and intend to continue visiting.

UPDATE: I wrote my original review below 6 years ago, and I still swear by Auntie El's today. My dad absolutely loved cherry pie and since he passed the holidays have been hard for my family. We now have the tradition of getting little mini cherry pies for everyone from Auntie El's every holiday. I love them and I know my dad would too! ❤️ ORIGINAL: Auntie El's has one of the best bakeries in Rockland - the pies, donuts, cookies, everything - are fresh, made to order and always delicious. Order holiday pies early because the lines form fast! The market itself is also super interesting, with fresh vegetables, antiques, candles, and oddities. Plus Halloween time brings lots of pumpkins, costumes, decorations and interesting scares in the antique room.

Christmas season is not the same without getting a tree. Why spend money on a false tree when you can have a fresh pine? I enjoy supporting local establishments and Auntie El's Farm Market is a delight. They have a few breeds of trees. The noble pine is more expensive and holds its needles- pricing about 160 dollars. There's another fir tree for 85 dollars. The assortment of trees has a pick for anyone looking for a fresh pick. Outside, there are various wreaths, lawn decor and a lovely painted pumpkin (as shown below with a Nightmare before Christmas design). Going inside of the market will greet you with a vintage and rustic aesthetic. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff are friendly as well as attentive. Aunti El's Farm Market has a wide range of homemade goods: from fruit preserves to candy; from cakes to pie; and even homemade dog biscuits. Overall, a trip to Auntie El's Farm Market is a must- especially this holiday season.

Looks charming from the outside but the moon cookie and chocolate covered twinkie were hard as a rock. Both unedible. So stale and for 2 items it was over $7.50 and the wouldn't let me bring my dog in. Stay away from this place!

Google
Amazing and Delightful shopping experience. They have an assortment of plants in green house, tons of fresh jars of honey, fruits and vegetables. I loved their baked goods and floral arrangements. My flowers were lovely and I even got a free rose from the cashier. This place is a gem. I bought a Spider plant and it looks great. The decor....is gorgeous.

Great side of the road stop. A bit pricey, but they have tasty baked goods, I enjoyed their bread and jam. My family liked their cookies and pie.

Google
My regular farm on Black Oak Ridge Road in NJ was closed. They have exceptionally good pies, so after reading reviews, I decided to drive an hour out of the way to try this bakery. I ordered three 10-inch pies for $19.99 each because I really enjoy homemade desserts. I don’t mind the time or cost as long as the quality is good. Unfortunately, the pies taste too commercialized and had way too much jam or jelly inside. I was wondering why they were so heavy but for half the price, you can get a giant 25 or 30-inch pie from Costco, which has an okay tasting pie as well. However, I really enjoy homemade apple pies made with apples, not a lot of jam or jelly inside.

Yelp
On my way home from Harriman State Park, I stopped at Auntie El's Farm Market and Bakery in Sloatsburg, New York, This market is a family owned business. Karl & Elena Schlademan opened it in 1982. The market sells jams and jellies, baked goods, apple cider, syrups, cheeses, garden items, and local honey. In the spring they offer a good selection of flowers, seedlings and plants. In the fall they sell pumpkins and gourds and hardy mums. The pumpkins are in my view expensive. I stopped for the local raw honey. I like honey and use it in a variety of ways. I like farmer's markets and this one has an interesting mix of items to look through.

Yelp
I love this cute little market. I stop anytime I'm in the area to pick up some of their homemade and jarred treats along with the large selection they carry of Stonewall Kitchen items. The bakery has a wonderful array of everything you'd want and the garden section has an incredible selection of plants and knickknacks.
google avatar

SuzAnne S.

Yelp
I'm going to be honest, I come here from Howell to get my strawberry/rhubarb & Elderberry jam. I am sure there are other places to go, but this is my go-to, and I make no apologies. I enjoy the bakes goods as well, but it's the jam I come for.
google avatar

Mel Y.

Yelp
An okay farm stand that I've come to in varying seasons. I think spring time is the best because they have a good selection of flowers, seedlings and plants. They have plants, flowers, produce, knick knacks, cheese, milk, bread, syrup, and a limited bakery. The bakery items don't seem that great, like not the freshest stuff around. And even in the fall, I wouldn't necessarily come for their apple cider donuts and cider. I like their vegetarian and chicken handpies though they are salty. The prices are overall a bit pricey for most things. The service is okay as well.
google avatar

Yelp
So I've been reading these negative reviews and have to say take my review with a grain of salt. I don't buy eggs here nor milk nor bread. What I have bought is cider and their pastries which are ALWAYS delicious. My family has been making yearly trips to Auntie El's for about 30 years. When we lived in Jersey City, our family had a tradition of heading up to Seven Lakes Drive in Harriman State Park every October to see the fall foliage. Prior to our hike, we would stop by Aunt El's and pick up pies, pastries, apple cider, and sometimes incense. Oh! And sometimes we'd get pumpkins. The pumpkins here are a lot more expensive then if you bought them at a supermarket. Again, I've only visited this place for years in the month of October. I'm so happy this place is still operating which gave me the opportunity to relive a family tradition!

Yelp
Such a fun store... a cross between a homey gift shop and indoor farmers market. All the freshly made food looked so good! They have a ton of sweets and savory specialities to choose from. We bought a few things and so far loved the Jamaican beef and chicken patties! We also got some sweets that we have yet to try but look amazing! I love all the chochkies inside to choose from and the large dog that sits peacefully outside. Everything about this place is great! Can't wait to go back and try more treats!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has really great Jamaican CHICKEN patties...the beef ones are okay. I also purchase my honey supply from here because they sell the largest jar I can find in the area for a little cheaper than the honey street fair vendors during the summer. The young people that work there seem a bit lost. They are always turned around in some mental way. They are either unable or unwilling to read the signs of the pastries. They are incapable of answering ANY questions about the baked goods. And they really seem like they could just care less. They will not try to help you...even if you ask for it. For this reason, I have no clue how any of their bread or other baked items are. It was difficult to get the young lady to ring me up for the right amount of Jamaican patties (when I was really there to purchase more honey). I am just shocked that they leave the front end of the business in the hands of people that obviously don't care. She kind of behaved as though she was only paid to stand there and that was all she wanted to do. Anything else asked of her was going to be done reluctantly and wrong to avoid any further requests of her. If you are faced with one of these workers, I would just buy the honey (and any other item that is already labeled and ready to be rung up) and skip the baked items (since they require you explain which item you'd like and how many). Its just not worth the frustration.

Abe S.

Yelp
Hmm this place is what you want to make of it. For me it is convenient and we usually come here for certain items. They do have a selection of food items and bottles jams, sauces and hot sauce. I don't think they are anything like a farm. They aren't really a farm but more of a farm type store. We only got their baked goods once and found them lacking in taste. Hate to tell you this but I saw them carting in boxes of frozen pies early one morning. They do bake them in house but I doubt the pies are "home made". In store baked to be exact. We still stop by and browse their stuff, occasionally finding something interesting to purchase. Last time I bought a bottle of grilling sauce with cherries and balsamic vinegar. It was really delicious and goes well with lamb chops and roasted duck. Stop by and enjoy the store, and say hi to the big old dog.

Yelp
Happened upon this welcoming place on the way back from Bear Mountain they are on the south side so that was convenient. I had a sampling of some produce and from the bakery, a pecan tart that was the best I've had-nutty & not overly sweet. I also had a traditional donut and noted they had homemade Jamaican patties including a just veggies version. They also had an assortment of pies, large loaves of bread, some cider and flowers. I'd like to bring my children here next time; I think they'd enjoy it too!

Gerard J.

Yelp
I like this store as the plants and food are always varied. Today however I need to share that 6.99 for one loaf of STALE Italian bread is disappointing. I want to shop local and support the hard working folks but this event needs to be shared. Please don't offer to sell this type of product unless your promoting it for bruschetta or bread crumbs. Or going to a duck pond.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
This place well exceeded my expectations. I've heard about how great the bakery products were and I was not disappointed. I went to try the Wild-berry lemon crusted pie and was so disappointed when there were out of it for the day, but the lady behind the counter recommended the Berries of the Forest pie and the Key-lime Upside down cake and I must say AMAZING!!! My Son that isn't in to trying new things, kept refusing a slice or a taste and after seeing the reaction of the rest of us that tried it, he tasted it and he Loved it and asked for two slices. I will definitely be back to try the wide variety of products from jams to a citronella plant to keep the mosquitoes away. Everyone needs to visit this place!!

Yelp
I have driven past Auntie El's for many years and never stopped but always wondered what was inside so my friend and I stopped in on a Sunday morning to see what they had to offer. Outside is decorated with pumpkins every shape and size along with fall outdoor plants and seasonal flowers. We walked around outside and picked out some pumpkins and mums along with two bushes of catnip to bring home to my fur-babies as a treat. Once inside I felt like I went back in time to an old school market. I loved it! They had old school flavored honey sticks, fresh fruits and veggies, homemade candies, and a lot of retro toys such as the cats cradle I picked up for a friend. The bakery is a little slice of heaven and the cider doughnuts are off the hook! I enjoyed both the cinnamon sugar and the plain. The apple cider they sell there is really delicious and fresh. Next time I stop in I really want to try some more items from the bakery. Really cute place to stop and shop or grab a quick snack!

Yelp
I don't give 4 stars to just any small town market. No this one gets my stars for the homemade pie (blueberry apple) and the beef pattie yes I wrote patties as in Jamaica patties that I purchased. The pie was heavy thick with fruit but not overly sweet. The patty which I heated and ate at home had a flaky crust and was a great compliment to the original Caribbean makers. The dog was a fine specimen.

Joanna M.

Yelp
Auntie El's is our go to for fresh produce, home baked pies, gifts and all sorts of planting advice. They store has a little bit of everything ....it's a great place to relax, look around and enjoy an afternoon. It also has a great selection of house made jarred pickled items. A little gem of a spot!
google avatar

Arnie S.

Yelp
Beware the 3% credit card surcharge. Purchased there multiple times before I noticed the small sign notifying you of the charge. The bakery is pretty good with decent pastries and pies. I would go back but I prefer to patronize establishments that don't try to screw me.
google avatar

Yelp
Four stars for coolness - nice country store not far from the burbs. Great selection of flowers, plants shrubs and associated pots, tools etc plus a nice country bakery and farm stand. Wish there more organic selections but everything natural. Nice homemade fruit pies - rustic and not too sweet. Bakery in general is nice. But the whole vibe here is cozy and cool. Lifts the spirits just to come here and buy something.

Yelp
This is a very nice little bakery that is just before getting back on the highway! Its very cute! They have a fairly decent size store as well as a bakery. One of my friends recommended that we try this place on the way home from the renfaire this past weekend. So we stopped in. The entrance and exit to the parking lot is the same road and if you blink, you miss it! It is all the way to the left of the building. Parking was very easy, they have parking all around the building with entrances all around the building. Checkout is also conveniently located in the center! They had tons of flowers, shrubs, fruit trees, kitchy lawn items etc for sale outside. It all look like a green thum b paradise! Bakery is to the left, the rest of the store is to the right. We started in the bakery, prices were slightly higher than we expected, but nothing crazy. We went in the main store, took a look around, it seems that they sell antiques as well as vegies as well as other seasonal items. It feels a little bit cramped, and that the store doesn't know what direction it wants to go. Nothing in the main store caught our eye except the massive dog that appeared out of nowhere! The dog was very friendly. If you are a larger person, you might have issues walking around the main store, it is very tight! They also had a back room which was filled with Halloween stuff already. We went for the bakery, so after windows shopping, we headed back ion there. As I said before, most of the items were priced a little higher than I expected. I believe that it was about $9 for bacon, which is pretty high... We both got a mini cake which I believe was 3.50 each. I saw milk in glass containers and I figured that would go nicely with my cake, as soon as I heard the price, I put it back! I believe that it was 6.50 for a quart! The lady who was behind the counter said that also comes with a 1.50 deposit for the bottle... I don't care how good or fresh or organic the milk is, 6.50 for milk is outrageous! My eyes almost came out of my head! I buy organic milk by the gallon for 3.99 at aldi! They had several other options available, the mini pies looked cute, but my wife and I weren't too hungry so we skipped on it. It looks like they were famous for their French toast bread pudding, so maybe next time we will try that! All in all, cute place, just not worth the price...

Melanie G.

Yelp
This is a cute little old bakery in sloatsburgh NY I ran over on Christmas morning to get some dessert. I bought a variety of things when I got home my daughters told me their donuts are horrible. I'd skip the donuts they really do not taste good, they are hard even after you reheat them. These donuts lack flavor really disgusting. The raspberry rugalas are tasty warm them in the microwave first
google avatar

Dot B.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Sloatsburg on June 13 and stopped by Auntie El's Farm Market. What could have been a pleasant visit turned into a disappointment. There was no sign that indicated that anyone entering the business must wear a mask, so there were mixed mask wearing compliance and social distancing was not adhered. To make it worse, an employee (wearing a green t-shirt) was 'loud' saying "....wearing a mask doesn't do any good..." What? Nobody thinks the Pandemic is real? We had to leave. If you are running a business, be appropriate and shut up on your views.

Grace D.

Yelp
I was looking for a Strawberry Rhubarb pie and finally found it, however, it was very underwhelming. The crust was crunchy and tasty but the filling did not taste anything like rhubarb or strawberries. It resembled a canned pie filling. Very disappointing coming from a farmers market that promotes fresh baked goods.
google avatar

Dee C.

Yelp
Weird little spot on the side of the road. They have s bit of everything. Love the dogs.
google avatar

Brianna S.

Yelp
What an eye catcher! There are many brightly colored pinwheel-esque kites in front to draw your attention. Plenty of vegetation for purchase right outside from hanging flower baskets to Venus fly traps. Not the least expensive plants but pretty things. The staff leaves a lot to be desired. They didnt greet anyone. They just stood around shifting from one foot to the other until they were approached. Well ok, one man was walking the premises but he wasn't very inviting. We ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb pie and donuts. The donuts were ok but a bit heavy for me. And the pie was too sweet. I think I'll stick to making my own anyhow as I'm the only one who ate any of it.
google avatar

Mr. N.

Yelp
We called in a $75 order and were charged 3% credit card fee without being notified. On arrival, purchased additional product, and hit again with the 3% fee. A little shady...
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
Enter at your own risk. I dare you not to be tempted by the bakery's sweet, doughy aroma! Say hello to the huge, sweet dogs lounging in the store's entryway, wander into the bakery, grab your coffee, try their (phenomenally crafted) crumb cake, and scoop up some beautiful plants on your way out! ... At least that's how my first trip just went! Great pastry, helpful staff, and gorgeous plants. No frills, and that's the way it should be. Charming place!
google avatar

Lana B.

Yelp
Delicious baked goods! I discovered this gem just passing by! I found great plants and flowers with decent prices. My daughters loved the huge dogs! Plus emoji cookies! The bakery is a must - get your cider donuts!!! All in all I had a good experience even though I had to exchange a plant because I couldn't make my mind up. Owner was very patient, I'm grateful!

Anna C.

Yelp
Lots of great stuff here but almost none of the staff were wearing masks indoors-- just the two behind the cash register, but everyone else was walking around with masks off, despite NYS regulations. Wish I had known beforehand.

A S.

Yelp
None of the employees wear masks here. Stop by if you want some COVID! Too bad, because the selection of food is pretty good.

Alicia R.

Yelp
I got "fresh" eggs and milk. Eggs were not fresh and two were even rotten. Milk tasted like the same milk you get at the supermarket for a third of the price. Cider donuts were too dry. I was very disappointment given the amount of money they charged. No dates on anything so shame on me to trust that their items are fresh. I wont be going back.

Jp G.

Yelp
Stop by occasionally after hiking at Harriman. All those calories I burned off hiking go right back on after eating one of their delicious brownies. A bakery nerds nirvana
google avatar

Demar P.

Yelp
After seeing such good reviews I knew I had to bookmark this place. The selection of pies and other sweet goods are overwhelming. We even made a second stop on our way home. I wanted to eat everything. On my first visit I opted for the apple pie, and apple mango tart. Both were delicious. Loved the sweet and tart flavor of the apples however I only wish the crust was a bit more flaky. On my second stop I tried the fresh baked carrot raisin bread and malple walnut ice cream. Absolutely amazing. The carrot raisin bread tastes like something my grandmother would have baked and I cant say enough about the ice cream. It was creamy and delicious. This place is everything a farmers market should be and more. From fresh fruits to plants you definitely will not leave emty handed. If your driving to or around Ringwood definitely put Auntie El's on your list!!!
google avatar

S B.

Yelp
Delicious donuts and baked goods! They have homemade fudge, cookies, bread etc.. It reminds me of the old farm stores in NNJ that we would go to as a kid. I've been here a few times and I've always had a great experience. The dogs are gentle giants!

Guy J.

Yelp
This is the second time they sold stale bread to me. There wont be a third. These folks also need to respect NYS law and stop handing out plastic bags. Ask your customers to bring their own or hand out paper bags. Employees dont wear masks either.

G S.

Yelp
I passed by this place many times and was excited to come in and finally get some fresh farm produce and pies. I really wanted to like this place because is situated in a convenient location for me. Unfortunately I stepped in and out very quickly after seeing multiple employees dealing with fruits, vegetables and pastries without facemasks in a pretty small place. Their product looked really good. They even carry pies with no sugar! But I did not feel safe inside, not even talking about consuming stuff from their business. Box with fresh cider donuts was out in the open for everyone to sneeze on.
google avatar

Jen D.

Yelp
I've been to Auntie El's market many times. It's convenient to pick up a few plants in the summer or their mixed berry pie (with lemon crust) It's probably the only baked item I would buy as I've tried the other pies and don't particularly care for them. It's not the neatest place but the pie is good. They also have a fruit and veggie area inside so if you find yourself in a pinch and don't feel like going to the supermarket this place works. This is a family owned business and everyone is helpful and knowledgeable about their product.
google avatar

June M.

Yelp
I am giving this place one star because of the numerous and DEEP potholes on the dirt road that runs behind the store that you have to exit on. They have some nice and interesting food products for which they charge a lot of money. Some of the prices are ridiculous. This is the second time I was there. The first time was quite a while ago and the road conditions were bad. Nothing has changed. So many deep potholes it's ridiculous. You can't avoid them. You have to crawl over them and try to avoid the worst. To me this shows a lack of consideration for their paying customers. I've tried the place a couple of times because I was in the area but I don't think I will return. I have a feeling that in addition to the high prices, some of their products can be hit or miss. But seriously, they charge a lot of money, so fix the potholes!
google avatar

Kendell B.

Yelp
It is a very cool market with some great products, we purchased a few items which included a 10in blueberry pie. Being the pie people that we are I should have been paying closer attention to what it was made with. It was clearly made with canned filling and not a good one to boot. I tried a small slice when we got home, and it tasted horrible, to the point that I would not eat it. It is a cool place but buyer beware of what your buying. If you want an amazing blueberry pie. Nyack's pie lady and sons. Sorry Aunti El your going to have to up your pie game.

Lauren A.

Yelp
The best crumble berry pie ever and the biggest dogs you have ever seen! Great place to go for a ride and stock up On cider apples and amazing pies! I'll Be back a lot!
google avatar

Janet F.

Yelp
This is a cute country stand on the side of road in Sloatsburg, NY. We stopped here last Sunday to buy a pumpkin. It's was a crazy zoo. Out front there are the pumpkins and some plants and apples. Inside was a gift shop, more produce and a bakery in the back. Since its the pumpkin picking season we wanted to get some donuts and a pumpkin. My kids also picked out some chocolate covered pretzels from the candy counter. I didn't enjoy the experience because it was too crowded and I ended up waiting in line 3 separate times. First we had to wait in a line in the bakery section to pay for the donuts. Then we waited in a line to pay for the chocolate covered pretzels. Then we picked out a pumpkin outside. I thought for sure that there would be a cash register outside to ring up the people who were only buying a pumpkin. After someone weighed the pumpkin we were given a piece of paper with the cost of the pumpkin written on it. Then I had to go back inside to wait on a long line of people (same line as the candy) to pay for my pumpkin. I was so tired at that point. If anyone is reading this from Auntie El's, I just want to advise you that there is a solution available to have your cashiers carry wireless handheld devices that accept credit card payments and print receipts. It would have been a better experience if I could have paid for the pumpkin outside. This would greatly increase the satisfaction of your customers and help you to increase your revenue, enhance your image, and make your employees more productive. I sell this kind if solution for my job and can help you. Just send me a message on Yelp.

Yelp
Such a cute little place to come to!! It's clean smells good and has good costumer service. Their pies and all of their food is really delicious. My husband and I will definitely be coming back!! Definitely the best farmers market I've ever been too!!
google avatar

Yelp
Check my profile. A 5-star review is hard to come by for this old crotch. Seriously, if you're looking for an authentic way to help the local community while snagging a sweet snack - make the stop. Even if that means an awkward u-turn because you missed it. The bakery is excellent and the plants are always healthy (if you're into that green thumb kinda thing).
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
Love the bakery. Not many places offer sugar-free baked products and they do. Friendly owners and a cute puppy face will always great you at the door. I also love the fact that they offer local grown seasonal fruits and vegetables. A must visit!
google avatar

Patrick R.

Yelp
A great country store to stop at on the way from orange county to rockland. The bakery is a non-negotiable. ..the pies are great.
google avatar

Spencer H.

Yelp
We stopped in this weekend on our way to Warwick for apple-picking and were disappointed. This is a cute market but over-crowded and super dirty. The items we purchased in the bakery were underwhelming and the produce wasn't nearly as good as we've found at other markets. There are a million other options in the area, I will not return.
google avatar

Joe A.

Yelp
This place is a delightful throwback to an age long gone. It's an old fashioned farmer's market/bakery/general store with some amazingly delicious baked goods from pies and breads to apple cider doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and simply the best Irish soda bread on the continent during the St. Patrick's Day season. I make the drive up there each year just to get a few loaves. This quaint little shop is a bit of a drive for me, but well worth it and I don't get there enough. The staff are always cheerful and friendly and the bakery smells heavenly. They also have homemade ravioli and their own ice cream aside from the fresh fruits, vegetables and bakery items. A great little escape back to a time where foods were made by hand and not on an assembly line. Love this place!
google avatar

Elaine N.

Yelp
Whatever the season they have something fun and unique you'll want to have. The bakery has a great selection of fresh, homemade treats and never disappoints. Definitely worth the trip.

Frances T.

Yelp
Great farm stand, has so much variety. There Dutch apple pie was amazing and the fudge was ok. Our dog loved the treats we brought home to her

Sharon K.

Yelp
I live locally but never had the chance to stop in until just before thanksgiving. I wanted to buy a pie instead of baking. The pecan pie was delicious and very reasonable at $16. Also picked up 2 mini strawberry rhubarb pies, also amazing!! Will be back for sure.
google avatar

Stas L.

Yelp
Nice herbs and flowers selection. Also cheaper than Home Depot and better quality. Now my go to for live plants.
google avatar

Theresa D.

Yelp
Homemade pies and goodies, local quality produce (honestly some of the best produce I've seen in Rockland County), and homemade sauces, jellies, preserves, honey, and a selection of old time candy and trinkets that give you pause. What is there not to love? Their Apple Crumble Pie is delicious albeit a little too crumbly but I'm a fan. Also the sweetest and largest dog I've seen is on site.
