Visited Monserrat today, a small island in the Caribbean.
The national dish is Goat Water, which is basically a goat stew, and they only make it on Saturday, so instead I had collards greens, cabbage, and BBQ chicken with Sorrel (a Hibiscus-based drink, which want my favorite).
I also tried a bit of a pineapple and a coconut “turnover” (which is nothing at all like the turnovers we refer to in the US. Good. Also unique).
Most of the world runs on cabbage, and, sadly the veggies are dripping with oil! My belly can’t handle that much oil, nor do I want to consume so much fat, but the foot was delicious!!! I do wish steaming vegetables was more common 😂.
Thank you for sharing your food and culture!!!
Two stairs to enter make it not super accessible but you could order and call to have someone bring it down the stairs I’m sure.
Also, if there was any AC, it was not strong. It was super hot inside.
