North Carolina Bars Serving Bombay Sapphire Cocktails | Eater

"Bring a gaggle of friends, crushes, whoever, and head to the JW Marriot, then take the elevator straight to the fifth floor. There, you’ll find a sleek bar and rooftop pool where each atmospheric detail feels like a polished and precise choice — a towering bar, curved pool chairs, and sights of uptown situated as if they were there for Aura Rooftop’s viewing pleasure only. The standout poolside bite is the spicy tuna hand roll. If you’re lucky, snag a reserved cabana and have a little dip in the pool, with a spritzy Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon in hand. It’s summer, and rules are rules. Head over in the early evening Monday through Wednesday for happy hour." - Kayleigh Ruller

My friend and I were really looking forward to this rooftop bar — especially for the views of Charlotte. We made a reservation for 6 PM and were excited to check it out based on all the great reviews. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. When we arrived, we were told to either wait on the side or try the bar (which was completely packed). We let the hostess know we’d wait by the bar — but she clearly forgot about us and started seating walk-ins with no reservations. How do I know? I stood right next to her watching the whole thing unfold while she tried to fix the seating mess she created. I’ve worked in the industry, and to be clear — it wasn’t even a busy or chaotic night. Maybe she was new, but the lack of organization and professionalism was really disappointing. It was enough of a turn-off that we didn’t even bother ordering food. We stayed for one drink (which was decent), but honestly, the service made the whole experience fall flat. This spot may have great views, but it’s not worth the hype. There are plenty of other places in Charlotte where you can enjoy a better vibe, service, and still take in the skyline. Skip this one.

The food and service were good but the views and atmosphere were best at Aura Rooftop. Whether going for a drink, dining, meeting with friends, swimming at the pool, staying at the JW Marriott or simply taking in the sites, Aura can accommodate. I enjoyed my impromptu summer evening visit and would return. The vibe is relaxing. I even had the pleasure of witnessing a beautiful proposal. I highly recommend this rooftop venue.

Google
Absolutely Stunning, Spectacular and gives a Beautiful overlook of your City. This Girl Right Here From Dallas TX , Will be telling Friends about this experience considering y'all's sky line is almost as cool as Dallas 😉!! Thank you for the Private Party!! Charlotte NC I can honestly say Beautiful Skyline.

I had an amazing experience at the restaurant, and our server Scott truly made it special! He was extremely attentive, polite, and helpful the entire time. Always with a smile, he gave us great menu recommendations and made us feel very welcome. The service was fast and flawless. I’ll definitely be coming back — service like this turns a meal into a memorable experience!

Very relaxing rooftop vibe. Sat at the bar and got the avocado hummus-so good! Scott is a great bartender and attentive. Highly recommend!

Google
We had a reservation but they were very busy so we had to wait a bit, but the staff was so amazing and treated us to a great night. They checked in on us frequently and gave us complimentary drinks to make up for the wait. Definitely will be coming back because the hospitality was incredible and the drinks were delicious. View and ambiance was of course incredible too!

Google
Paid $300 to rent a cabana plus another $300 bar tab…..the bar tab was fine but people were coming in through the back door and just sitting in the cabanas not to mention we were there for 4 hours and the same trash and dirty towels were everywhere not getting cleaned up. What a waste. Why rent a cabana when just anyone sits in them and leaves garbage everywhere. We frequent rooftops for the view and upscale atmosphere this was by far our only disappointment going out in Charlotte.

If you have never been here this is the place to go! I tried “The Pink Fairy Garden” Cocktail and it was so refreshing on the other hand the “Electress” cock tail was more of a Smokey taste. There is something for every type of drinker here. The bartender Duff made the drinks perfectly, gave amazing service, and was such a positive vibe. The food is 10/10 I tried the Brisket Sliders and The Avocado Hummus and when I tell you this place knows how to make food like no other. The views are absolutely stunning and great for photos .

Yelp
We were looking to get drinks & Came across this place looked nice so we decided to check it out. We came up , walked around took in the nice views, nice little area pool, some seating & bar to just chill & enjoy some drinks. We tried the following cocktails Pink Fairy & electress , both good drinks, nice taste. We also tried, Glow through the night & sage of Aquarius , good drinks as well, All with a decent amount of alcohol. Seating area was covered w heat lamps set up, nice cozy area good music playing. Bartender was nice & attentive, good cocktails, price wise a bit on the high side but doable, we enjoyed our time & drinks.

Yelp
I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. We came at 4:30, no reservation but prepared to wait. The place was pretty empty but they claimed they had a party coming but we were 2nd on the walk in list. They told us to go to a different floor and enjoy the bar while we waited. We had 2 drinks at the bar, and still nothing. 4:30 turned to 5:30, then 6:30. We waited until 7pm, went back up and they said oh umm we have a party scheduled but let us see what we can do and sat us at one of the SAME 3 TWO PERSON TABLES THAT WERE OPEN WHEN WE CAME AT 4:30! We sat for another 15 minutes waiting on someone to take a drink order. Then another 15 for them to bring 2 beers from the bar that was RIGHT NEXT TO US. It wasn't packed and there were plenty of extra seats. Then the beers came and my glass had old ass green food floating in it and stuck to the inside of the glass. At that point we asked for the check...that came in a prompt 20 minutes. This place is trash. I don't know how the reviews are so high. The menu is minimal. Drinks dirty. The roof top is dingy. There's no real view, the staff is inattentive and it's extremely small. Oh and the parking was $20! Unless you're staying at the hotel, don't waste your time. Go some place else! Not worth the time, energy or money!

The desserts are all Vegetarian. Dietary restrictions The Chicken Satay, Burnt End Lollipops, Spicy Tuna Hand Roll, and The Spicy Shrimp Lettuce Cups and gluten free. Than for dessert the White Chocolate Mousse Cake is gluten free. Parking space Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options Paid parking lot, Paid street parking, Paid parking garage Parking To get into the rooftop you have to walk into the hotel that your maps will guide you to by just typing in Aura Rooftop. Kid-friendliness There were kids when I went so I would say family friendly experience! Wheelchair accessibility There are automatic doors to get into the hotel and an elevator to the rooftop.

Yelp
I wanted to love Aura as the views and vibes are giving everything I wanted and more. Love the weather/winter-proof dome to enjoy Aura out of the elements. The pool area is posh and the service from staff was great. The cocktails did not disappoint. The food, however, was lackluster. The poblano queso was good, but was served warm and got cold and thickened almost instantaneously. The bao buns were quite tough and stale, but the pork belly fillings were delicious. Silver lining-- I didn't need the carbs anyhow. I'd love to return in warmer temps + enjoy the great outdoors, and the full glory of Aura Rooftop.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Great service at the bar. Drinks were good. Amazing views. I will be back.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour while out of town and was surprised to find that they only offer $3 off some of their appetizers and no drink specials for happy hour. We were a little disappointed because we were excited to experience their happy hour offerings. My friend got a Rose and we split the spicy guacamole with chips, which was delicious and quite spicy. I found it interesting that when we both gave our credit cards, the server split the bill in half, like half of the app and half of the glass of wine, went on both bills. I clearly did not share my friend's wine with her! Super strange, especially without asking. We went with it and left to find food somewhere else. It was a nice view and we didn't try more food but didn't feel the vibe was there.

Yelp
Aura is located inside the Marriott Hotel. I made reservations online because it usually gets packed. Order the sliders and tuna tacos 10/10 . The views were great, the ambiance is chill. Music played in the background whilst I enjoyed my moscato and bites. Service was great, the waitress was very attentive and friendly.
google avatar

Nameeta M.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop! The music was perfect for the setting, and there was a steady flow of people for the Saturday night we were there, we didn't stay too long so can't speak to how crowded it got later but it was a great pregame spot. My friend got the more popular drink (Pink Fairy) and I got the Opposites Attract. The servers were attentive and quick, and the drinks were delicious!

Yelp
Food is good service is extremely horrible on top of having to go to the bar numerous times to refill my own drink the sever MIKALA made me pay for my food in advance because it was stated people run off on their tabs so I need to pay in advance for my food THIS WAS EXTREMELY INSULTING the insinuation that because I'm african American I'm going to leave w/o paying my tab however the Caucasian women sitting across from me were not asked the same thing . DO NOT EAT HERE

Yelp
Located atop the JW Marriott in Uptown. The cocktails, like the "Pink Fairy in the Garden" and "The Queens Negroni" were deliciously refreshing. The brisket sliders were perfectly cooked, with tender, juicy brisket paired with B&B pickles and sweet onions that add a delightful crunch and sweetness. The combination of flavors and textures made each bite incredibly satisfying. Wish there were more brisket to balance out the bread. The White Chocolate Mousse and the Dark Chocolate Passionfruit Bar desserts were delightful, providing a creamy and rich The staff and service were wonderful. The rooftop's ambiance, with its chic, botanical decor and stunning city views, along with exceptional service, made it a must-visit spot in Charlotte.

Yelp
We stopped here for a drink as we were walking around uptown. This rooftop pool/restaurant/bar is located in the JW Marriott. You do not need to be staying at the hotel to go to the bar/restaurant. The rooftop takes reservations but we didn't make one. We were able to be seated right away. Our server was great and the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely stop here again!

Kristin H.

Yelp
First off it's not on the roof- it's on the 5th floor. That simple fact should tell you enough to skip this place. If you aren't yet discouraged the food menu is lackluster and their utensils come wrapped in plastic. I ordered the poblano queso and somehow it was watery and not spicy at all. I will say the drink I got was great- the electress was smooth and well balanced. Otherwise please skip this place. PLEASE.

Yelp
This is a nice rooftop bar. Getting to this bar is also easy because you get to park in the parking garage right by the hotel. You don't have much of a view at this bar because of the high towers around it but it's still a cute area. We only ordered drinks so my review is solely based on drinks, atmosphere, and service. They do have cute lounge areas but just make sure you make a reservation or you won't be able to get in. The service was average. We ordered two drinks which took 15 mins to get. Once the server took our drink order he didnt check on us until we got our drinks and then he took a while once our drinks were empty to come back. Once he realized we had been sitting with empty drinks for 10 mins he started checking on us more which was nice. To drink we ordered pink fairy in the garden and birds of paradise. Both were so good I could have chugged them. Although we didn't order any food a lot of people around us did. They looked like apps and everything that came out looked good. Maybe we will go back and try them. Overall great drinks, average service, but fun atmosphere!

Yelp
First off, a great location in downtown Charlotte. Located inside the J.W. Marriott hotel on the fifth floor. Reservations will get you a lounge area seating. Otherwise you'll be seated in a circular table. Either way you won't be disappointed with the view. You're not high off the ground but you're surrounded by tall buildings. I had the lollipops and they were ok. I had the spicy margarita and it was not good. This drink was not on the menu so I should have known. I ordered another drink and it was great. It had leeche in it. Very good. All in all a good experience. I'll be back there again.

Yelp
We wanted to explore the Uptown rooftop scene so we started at this place. You will pass the gym on the way to the entrance and you will also see people lounging at the pool next door on the other side of the bar. Overall it seems like a better vibe on the pool side. Drinks were okay but I preferred the drinks at other Uptown rooftop bars which were in a similar price range and seemed more upscale.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful views for only 5 stories up but overall weird experience. $110 drink for 4 came in a big plastic pitcher. Really? It looked like what the server at Chuck E. Cheese brings out for a kids birthday party. Not cute. The server then told us the bartender made it with blueberry juice instead of strawberry but the menu says hibiscus watermelon, huh? Also, Why wouldn't you ask? People have allergies and restrictions. Then they kicked us out at 11:00pm on a Saturday night because they close at 11?! We were there 90 minutes. The oyster restaurant was still open and we tried to order some food but they mix their frying oils so our friends couldn't eat due to dietary restrictions. The valet was $15 and we somehow were charged $27 exiting the parking deck after self parking because the valet stopped accepting. We were only there for less than 2 hours. Just a mess. Not worth it.
google avatar

Chloe M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that my review is based on a visit during a very rainy night. We were coming from out of town, so we proceeded with our plan because we were really looking forward to experiencing everything we saw on Instagram. Sadly, as it happens oftentimes, reality did not meet expectations. There was no magical snowy greeting, the rooftop floor was flooded and they were not on top of it, creating a dangerous (and uncomfortable) situation for guests. The food service was slow and taste was subpar for a luxury hotel.
google avatar

Reana K.

Yelp
I was so stoked to check out this rooftop in the city that my brother recommended when I visited him with my mom. Unfortunately, it was temporarily closed. It was beautiful though venturing around. Definitely would come back again and try it out. I saw that they have a decent variety of food.

Yelp
Beautiful scenery of Downtown Charlotte, North Carolina. Excellent drinks. Immaculate service! Thank you!

Yelp
Such a great vibe and loved being able to see the city lights! The drinks were great, and they have heated lamps to warm you up if needed! Loved everything about it and it made the perfect location for my 37th birthday!

Yelp
The best brisket sliders I've ever had! @aurarooftop is always a vibe, and I have to say, the sliders were fire The flavors were out of this world, and the atmosphere made the experience even better. Perfect spot for great food, good drinks, and an amazing view. I ordered Opposite Attract for my drink and I wait to go back!

Yelp
The perfect rooftop +Vibes! Came to the JW Marriott aura rooftop bar, which was located close to my hotel the Westin. Order the Ahi tacos and non-alcoholic solar plexus drink, which both were flavorful for the tacos and delicious for the drink. Had such a great time I came the following day that I came back and ordered Charlotte's Crown, which was a great non-alcoholic option as well. Not only do they have great food and drinks, the staff were great as well . Daniel was very helpful at the front as well as Scott in the evening and Sam provided great service the following day! A great goto for rooftop vibes, I will be back!

Yelp
Visiting charlotte and Aura was such a vibe ! Food was amazing ! Drinks were delicious and the energy was on point! Our server was Dylan and he took really good care of us! Ask for him when you visit, you won't be disappointed (:

Yelp
Yummy drinks and food! Great service and very chill. Not stuck up like some rooftop bars!

Yelp
Valet parked. No street parking for a few blocks and those go pretty fast. Nice rooftop on top of JW Marriot. Cute decor of subtle accents of pink and green. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon around 4:30pm. There was a tech conference in town so the place was pretty busy. Savanna was our server. We got the Brisket Sliders, Ceviche + Avocado hummus from the Yelp check-in. Avocado hummus was very tasty. Brisket sliders were forgettable but they we good. Ceviche as well was good. The drinks were really well poured and the decor of the space was very cute. Wednesdays the have $3 of food. Enjoyed myself and would definitely return!

Yelp
What a cute rooftop! Me and my friends came here spare of the moment and was not disappoint! The service was great they helped us get a great seat! My drink was really good! It was called sage of Aquarius I loved it. They also have huge fans up there when it's ho. Definitely a nice vibe.

Yelp
VIBES for days! I came here to have a drink while traveling alone. As soon as I walked in, I was astounded by the ambiance. The customer service was great, attentive, a truly catered experience. The people looked amazing, and the drinks were fabulous. I didn't order food because it was all small bites, and I wasn't intrigued by the menu. I wound up eating at the oyster bar downstairs, which was also incredible! I'll certainly return next time I'm in town!

Yelp
This popular summer destination has transformed into a winter wonderland going by the name of "Winter in the Queen's Garden". We don't get much in the way of a white Christmas (or any real snowfall to speak of at anytime) around here, so I love it when a venue fakes it 'til we make it! It's definitely still chilly up there although a section of the rooftop is closed-in under a canopy. It's not terribly heated, so bring a coat. Didn't see the fire pit that allegedly is supposed to be up there either. ‍ But that snow machine was working overtime! Flurries everywhere! Festive decor and twinkling lights were a nice backdrop. The food menu is still basically the same. Tasted fine but wish they'd expand it a bit more. We settled on the poblano queso with house made chips, tuna tacos, chicken satay skewers and spicy tuna hand rolls. The holiday cocktails were fun. My boozy Queen's Hot Chocolate was fun to play with (vid below) and contains: Angel's Envy, St. Germaine, cocoa liquor and hot chocolate. Also tried the Spiced With Purpose which basically reminded me of an Old Fashioned. Service was great. Very "smiley" and attentive. All in all a cute idea if you're having words with the perpetually overcrowded indoor bar scene. No shade. Go! And don't forget to snag a pic in the lighted hallway.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my experience. Stopped in for lunch and am beyond ecstatic I did! The food and service were amazing. Our server Dylan was fantastic. His food and drink suggestions were on point! If i make it back to Charlotte again, I'll be sure to hit Aura.

Yelp
My husband made a reservation for Mothers's Day. The atmosphere was chic but relaxed for daytime. It feels like a nice poolside bar, which it is, although I think the pool is only for hotel guests. We had drinks and lots of small plates (the hubby didn't know that when they say small plates they really mean it). Drinks were very good. I thought the food was okay. On the nice list: Brisket Sliders, burnt end lollipops, and white chocolate mousse. On the naughty side list: Avocado hummus- the veggies didn't seem fresh and spicy shrimp lettuce cups- the herb mix didn't work for me. Service was hit or miss. We had to ask about some plates and drinks. Other items came quickly.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my friend to celebrate her birthday after our massage. While the vibes were nice, the food and service were nothing to rave about. Very limited small bites menu. I'd imagine it's a happening spot at night. I would definitely come here for drinks again and snap a few pics with my girls before we head out to another place. The images on their site make the area look larger than it actually was. Vibes were perfect! Food was OK. Drinks were fabulous! Service was OK. Views were OK.
google avatar

Katara B.

Yelp
Views were nice, service was okay. Great day to be out on the rooftop. Sun was out but had a nice breeze going. Lettuce shrimp wraps were sooo good. Was enough for 3 people to share.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and view of the city! The drinks were delicious and loved our server (shoutout Dylan).

Yelp
The vibes were great, a little disappointed this rooftop is on the 5th floor rather than the very top. We came on a night it was about to rain so we did get a staff call to let us know, we decided to go anyways. Because of that we were advised not to order food so we didn't. All the drinks were great, I would definitely come back to explore different libations.

Yelp
Located on the 5th floor of the JW Marriott Hotel, keep this rooftop bar and lounge in mind when you want to grab a cocktail or glass of wine after a long day of work. The ambience is classy and serene, so there's definitely a vibe. Although, there is seating to accommodate parties of 10, Aura will use only one card to start the tab for the table. I had the same waitress for both my visits. She was attentive at both visits and provided excellent customer service. Quick Notes: For 21+, Accessible via the Brooklyn Village Lynx station, Happy Hour Special ($3 off food items from 3-6pm on Mon-Wed), Online Reservations available AVOCADO HUMMUS (reg. price $12, free with Yelp check-in) - Cotija Cheese, Pistachio, Pita, Crudité - Loved every bit of this especially the warm pita chips. The pita chips are an excellent size, too. - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. BURNT END LOLLIPOPS ($16) - Pickled Onion, BBQ, Secret Rub - The BBQ sauce on the meat is tantalizing, but the meat wasn't tender. I still think this menu item is worth checking out - RECOMMENDED. BRISKET SLIDERS ($16) - B&B Pickle, Sweet Onion - The sliders looked promising, but there wasn't much flavor on the meat despite there being a sauce on the brisket. The bread had a nice crispiness to it, which was the best part of the slider. WAGYU BEEF HAND ROLL ($22) - Pickled Red Onion, Radish, Carrot, Nori - When it comes to taste, I loved everything about this. Seaweed in large amounts is hard to chew, which is the only downfall of this roll. However, the taste along make it HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. CHARLOTTE'S CROWN ($8) - Blueberry, Mint, Lime, Sparkling Water - Gorgeous drink. Loved the taste, especially the kick from the sparking water - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. SOLAR PLEXUS ($8) - Grapefruit, Sage, Pineapple, Sparkling Water - Presentation is ON POINT and the pineapple comes through for the win - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. OPPOSITES ATTRACT ($16) - Tequila, Vodka, Honey, Basil, Lychee, Bubbles - You can definitely taste the vodka in this drink, but when that honey comes through - OMG. - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Yelp
Tried to visit there rooftop bar today but was told there was no bar seats and they were going by reservation only but the next couple came in and they were offered a table in the next 10 minutes. Not a fan.

Yelp
Found my summer after work cocktail spot! The atmosphere was vibrant with at this open air spot on the 5th floor of the JW Marriott. The backdrop is glass and steel with a little bit of construction thrown in for flavor. The drinks - I had a mule with fig infused vodka. It was yummy - but didn't taste too much fig flavor. We ate burnt ends lollipops and pineapple salsa. The lollipops were tasty and well seasoned. The salsa was served with potato, yucca and plantain chips. It was flavorful but they could have removed some of the liquid - it was almost soupy. The addition of candied pineapple could have been left out. It was tasty though. Our server JP was a delight! Definitely will hit them up again!

Yelp
Rooftop bar in the JW Marriott in uptown Charlotte. It was hard to find coming from the parking garage. Once you get to the hotel lobby, take the elevator to the rooftop level, then take a right and keep walking. We ordered food and cocktails. Cocktails were ok, food was mediocre/forgettable. The burnt end lollipops were tough and dry and the chicken skewers were like baked skewers laid on top of a puddle of teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds. There really wasn't even a good view (like at Merchant and Trade) but maybe in the summer the pool will make it worthwhile.
google avatar

Kaliaya D.

Yelp
Went ice skating nearby and walked here from there. They do not have street parking, you can park in a parking garage the walk is about 10 mins or valet park. You have to go into the JW Marriot to get to this rooftop bar (it is on the 5th floor). Not the highest views but still pretty. It was a little cold when we visited so they sat us inside a large tent, this took away from the view a bit. They only offer finger food so do not come if you're hungry but the sliders were my favorite. The salmon rolls were okay, we were not fans of the sauce they use. Our waitress was really nice and made great recommendations. She suggested I add alcohol to the solar plexus which I enjoyed.

Yelp
Went to Aura on a Saturday night and had a great experience. It is on the rooftop of the Marriott uptown. We were able to make a reservation but I think they book up with reservations so make sure to make one! The vibes were great, exactly what we were looking for! We were seated on a couch with a a table so it was very comfy! It is outside with the pool, but the tables are not necessarily right next to the pool. We used the hotel valet, and the hotel and elevators were so nice!! Our waiter was very nice and attentive as well. They had compostable paper products, loved seeing the planet friendly touch! The straws are the beeswax ones as well. They have a full bar and the drinks were delicious! They also have a menu of small plates. Everything we got was soooo good! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the price. The food and drinks were both delicious but very pricy. The small plates did not come with all that much food, we all left still hungry. Would recommend the food more for a snack or appetizer rather than a meal. Still very good and pleased with the service!

Yelp
Our visit to Aura Rooftop was okay. I am sure that during the warmer months this is a better atmosphere, but when we attended it was 50 degrees, and we were inside of a tent, which takes away from the rooftop feel. We came expecting a rooftop experience, 50 degrees or not. We dressed warmly to prepare to be outside. So, it didn't really deliver that experience for us. The main reason I am disappointed in our visit is because this was listed on a list of Christmas pop up bars, stating it was decorated for Christmas, and even would have a snow machine producing fake snow. That was the sole reason we came at this time. Neither of those were really existent for our visit. First of all, though the inside of the tent was well decorated, it was not at all Christmas themed. The only thing that resembled anything close to a Christmas feel was our short walk to the tent, but it wasn't much. It was just some garland and lights hung on the wall. Secondly, there was no snow. We asked the server about it and she stated that it was supposed to be a photo opportunity when you first walk in, and that the host or hostess should have pressed the button for the snow for us. That didn't happen, so on the way out we asked for it to be done for us, and they told us they got too trigger happy while playing around with the snow machine earlier and ran out. It was only 6 pm, so the workers wasted the snow for anyone else in attendance before the night really got started. Our server also took a while to even get to our table, and didn't come around very often. So overall, it wasn't a great experience, and I absolutely do not recommend coming here if you saw the Christmas bar advertisement and are attending for that experience, because you will be disappointed with that result. The drinks were good though.

Yelp
Amazing views, great service, Perfect vibe. Great food. Strong strong delicious drinks. What more can you ask for. One warning the drinks are healthy (read very strong). But still balanced and delicious. Trevor provided amazing service and the food was delicious.

Yelp
We walked over after a Panthers game. It's a beautiful place high above the craziness of game day. The food was delicious. We just ordered a bunch of the plates and shared. The portions were big and shared easily. The atmosphere was perfect. The service left a little to be desired but everything was rectified and fixed by the end of the meal. Great time.

Yelp
Unlike other rooftop restaurants in uptown, this one take reservations...YAY! I even requested a specific "by the rail" seating, and they agreed to accommodate that as well...more YAY's!! Well, we arrived on time for our RSVP, and they did indeed have a specific table awaiting us. Sadly, the view wasn't as great as expected...as there were constructions below. Still, we appreciated that they made good on their word. Must also mention how truly odd the automatic elevators were...JW Marriott hotel's, leading up to Aura! This rooftop restaurant was much smaller than Nuvole or Merchant & Trade...and sadly, I wasn't too impressed with the cramped ambiance or the views. Thought Fahrenheit and Nuvole still reigns over other rooftops in terms of overlooking views. Still, I preferred this place over other rooftops that required ridiculously long wait times (offering no reservations). The place has a small, but an exciting menu of small plates/apps. We went for 2 varieties of Hand Rolls (their specialty, it seems?)...Salmon Poke and Wagyu Beef. We also ordered this Spicy Shrimp Lettuce Cups, and this Matcha Cake dessert. Well, all the foods, especially these Hand Rolls, were way beyond good...and I loved the presentation on the wooden holding trays! Spicy Shrimp Lettuce Cup was pretty good...very fresh. The dessert tasted good, but looked even better. I loved that it was so innovative! For drinks, I got this Bird of Paradise cocktail, and my husband got some beer, as usual. The cocktail was nice and refreshing, but disappointing in its presentation. For 15 bucks, I expected more. The service was friendly, but somewhat off. We had to ask for every little thing... Utencils, Water etc.etc. As friendly as she was, our waitress just wasn't on her game. Unlike other rooftop restaurants, where I hated the overhead, I loved the overhead music here...complemented the ambiance perfectly! There was definitely room for improvement, but I will say that we absolutely loved the Hand Rolls, and appreciated the unique dessert. Also, I will mention again how much more hospitable this place was over the other rooftop restaurants in town. For those reasons, I can't rate lower than 4 stars.

Yelp
Great scene and vibe - but don't go for desserts as selection is weak. They red rope it at hostess stand making it look exclusive than it really is. Waitress had meal while we sat and waited for placing our drink order. The crowd is 20 and 30 something's. Better off hanging out at Deans Steakhouse or Mexican restaurants for same prices. I would return but purely for experience - not for staff or food options.

Yelp
Logistics: No validated parking available, either search for street parking or just pay the hourly rate to park in the JW Marriott garage. Menu: The signature cocktails are overall fun with some surprisingly great hits. The small plates were mediocre at best: small portions, one-dimensional flavor, and just overall not worth the price point. The classic case of a menu talking the talk but not walking the walk. Ambiance: In the winter, the heated "canopy" ruins the atmosphere for the rest of the bar (picture big white event tent taking up 1/2 of the rooftop), but in the summer the atmosphere can't be beat, especially during golden hour with that swimming pool. With the limitation of only being on the 5th floor, there are definitely other rooftops to go to if you're looking to take in Charlotte's cityscape. Yelp
Stopped in to Aura before having dinner at Caroline's Oyster Bar. It was a really good vibe and the drinks were incredible!! The only reason I'm giving it four stars is the service was a little slow and it didn't seem busier than usual. We waited for a little longer for our drinks, but after receiving them we're impressed!! Would give them another try as far as service, as everyone was still friendly

Yelp
Could not get service. Hard to give a review when you see plenty of staff not serving folks. With a limited menu you would think they would want to serve drinks and apps. Well nope. I walked out after 5 minutes of sitting alone.

Yelp
I love this establishment. I have come here multiple times, and I suggest it to others for a nice date, girls night, or just a quick bite and a drink. It is very busy. I definitely suggest you get a reservation in advance because there will be none if you wait until the day of. Somehow I have managed to get a table for two for a limited time on multiple occasions so may the odds ever be in your favor lol The drinks are tasty. They are bold flavor combinations; some more successful than others. But definitely not your typical drink menu. And their small plates are delicious. The sliders and the lollipops are so good. I highly recommend finding time to come here if you're waiting for your dinner reservation at dean's downstairs or meeting up before hitting the town. You won't be disappointed. They also have outdoor heaters and little igloos in the cooler months. Very cute.
