Eurostars Washington Irving | Best places to stay in Granada

"A few steps from the Alhambra’s Puerta de la Justicia, this 1820’s hotel was rebuilt in sleek, five-star style in 2016. Quotes on the walls recall American writer Washington Irving, whose charming Tales of the Alhambra, was written after a stay at the palace in 1828 (you can examine a first edition in the hotel library). Rooms are plush and very peaceful – quite a few overlook the Alhambra walls and gardens – and a dip in the rooftop pool and drink in the summer bar are very welcome after you’ve spent a hard day sightseeing. Breakfasts are good, and there’s an extremely helpful concierge. Best of all, it’s easy to be at the gate when the Alhambra opens in the morning, before the crowds ascend. " - Dana Facaros

Our stay at the hotel was fantastic! The service, especially from Maria, Cristina, Ricki, and another helpful gentleman whose name I didn't catch, made us feel completely at home. Our room was new, clean, and spacious, providing a peaceful retreat. Just a short 5-minute walk to the Alhambra Palace, the location is ideal. I highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding service and serene environment!

Superb hotel. Perfectly located for visiting the Alhambra. Modern, stylish, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Nice to find coffee making facilities and a kettle in the room. Reception could not have been more helpful. And the car valet parking service (from a small lay-by almost opposite the entrance) was the icing on the cake! A first class experience and we would definitely return.

My father and I stayed here for one night. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service from the hotel staff (Ricky, Marina, and Aiona). We had a great experience and it was very convenient to access the Alhambra from the hotel. The breakfast was great. Highly recommend staying here!

We stayed here in January 2024 I. Room 108, a suite. The room was quite comfortable, with a good bed in the bedroom and a separate living room. There were two balconies with the view on the walls on Alhambra. The room was well soundproofed as the hotel stands right on the main road and the traffic is right below. But it was not noisy. The living room had the tea and coffee machine. The closet was good but a bit tricky with sliding doors and inside lights. The bathroom was decent, there was a bathtub but it was very narrow and difficult to get out. It was a real disappointment. The breakfast was OK, nothing special and the atmosphere unpleasant, guests talking loudly and on their phones, ignoring others. There is no parking even for unloading the car, it's a bit further but they help with the bags and valet parking (for a fee). Overall a good hotel in an unbeatable location. We rested well there and it was easy to walk to Alhambra.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Aurora Hotel, which claims to be a five-star establishment but felt more like a three-star experience. While the location was convenient and close to the Alhambra, it was also somewhat distant from other attractions. The main issues included a gym with non-functional equipment and a bathroom with a clogged sink. The hotel also failed to provide standard five-star amenities, such as bathrobes. Additionally, we encountered a significant problem with the safety box, which got stuck with our passports inside, causing us to miss an important appointment. Despite repeated requests, the hotel did not resolve this promptly, leaving us worried about our valuables. Moreover, housekeeping was subpar. The next day, the staff did not replace the mattress sheets, pillowcases, or bath towels, and simply reused the same items. We noticed this because of visible marks on them. Additionally, the coffee machine in the room was also not working, which added to the inconvenience. Overall, the experience was far below expectations for a five-star hotel, and I hope the management takes these concerns seriously.

The main advantage of the hotel is it's proximity to Alhambra although it is a good 20 minute (steep!) walk into and from town, so if being close to Granada's attractions is important then this isn't the right hotel for you.|The hotel is actually quite difficult to find using google maps as the junction on the road is very confusing and we ended up driving into the adjacent car park.|The hotel is fine in most respects and the staff were helpful but the bed was almost like lying on concrete! Certainty the most uncomfortable night's sleep on our trip.

A charming hotel with exceptionally friendly service. All staff members are extremely polite and helpful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very cosy. The pool is a little on the cold side. Breakfast is lovely with a good variety of options. The hotel is perfectly located for visiting the Alhambra. If there is one area for improvement, it would be the gym – for a five-star hotel, it is rather small and some of the machines are not working properly. This could certainly be improved. Parking is also on the expensive side.

A truly beautiful hotel with fantastic services. We had an incredible room with a view of the Alhambra, and the staff are friendly and courteous, and efficient. There's an excellent restaurant and extensive pool service. The extensive breakfast, served in a charming setting, is varied and delicious. The beautiful, luxurious rooms, equipped with comfortable beds and very hygienic, are tastefully decorated and soundproofed. The staff are fantastic, helpful, and dedicated. Monica at reception, in particular, was a professional with a tremendous work ethic and a strong sense of responsibility. We plan to stay there again in the future. The sauna, relaxation areas, and swimming pool are located on the rooftop terrace and offer stunning views of the Alhambra and the nearby parks. If you want a carefree holiday in style, I recommend booking your stay here. TOP!
