Our Favorite New Ski Hotels, from Hokkaido to the Alps

"Days are short this far north of the Arctic Circle, which just means that excursions at this private 12-person chalet designed by architect Snorre Stinessen continue long after the sun goes down."

We stayed here a few nights. Super beautiful view. Cabin is small but has a full kitchen including dishwasher, oven, and stove. We reserved the room with the jacuzzi. It started snowing but we didn't care. There is a distillery next door with super delicious whiskey and gin. A tour of the distillery is highly recommended. Will return in the summer.

Our stay at Aurora Fjord Cabins was nothing short of magical! The accommodations were absolutely wonderful—quiet, comfortable, and perfectly suited for relaxing, cooking, and curling up with a good book. The cabin was the perfect blend of cozy and modern, with thoughtful touches. The location is unbeatable, conveniently close to the distillery and offering amazing dog sledding opportunities during the winter. The highlight of our trip, however, was the stunning views of the aurora borealis right from the cabin. It was truly an unforgettable experience!

A wonderful set of cabins tucked away in a beautiful corner of Norway! Cozy cabins were super clean, a well equipped kitchen and there's more than sufficient heating within the cabin as well! The views are out of this world especially during the winter and something you get the privilege to keep soaking in as long as there's light around.. Also a great place to catch the Northern lights as well .. though when we stayed here it was faint .. A great place to disconnect from the world, connect with yourself and your loved ones! Be sure to choose a 4 wheel drive suv when it's winter as the snow cover can be quite deep at times!

Incredible views from the cabin! The whole time it predicted cloud and rain so we had written off the chance to see the northern lights, however for one of the evenings the clouds cleared and we had a spectacular show. It was the perfect place to view them, overlooking the fjords and mountains made it extremely special. We ended up staying the whole time on the sofa bed in the living room and not using the bedroom so we could make the most of the view.

Location: 5/5|Quiet: 4/5|Activities: little options or quite expensive|Northern Light: clouded sky|Communication: 2/5|WiFi: 2/5|‐--------‐-------|In wintertime, the sun does not come up so good to realise there is a little twilight around noon but pitch dark the rest of the day. |So that limits the available outdoor time and as the cabin is really mini and the WiFi limited, bring books to read. |The tour around the distillery is nice but costly (€75 per person including a slice of bread with shrimps).|A whale watch tour €300 per person and 3 hrs snowscootering with 2 persons on one scooter €600.|We experienced the communication with Sarah over the months preceding and during the trip as disappointing: phone not answered during office hours, no call back and information inadequate.|The cabin is advertised as "with WiFi" but upon arrival the guestbook explains why WiFi is so limited (some unrepairable technical issue) so i feel it would perhaps be more honest to disclose that Before One Has Booked "limited WiFi or little bandwidth WiFi".|Drive from Tromso airport (navigation leads you via city centre but E8 around town is much faster) to cabins is around 2.5h (including time on ferry, check timetable). Roads are excellently cleared during snow, 4x4 recommended to drive up from parking lot of cabins back to main road.

The access to the cabins was really easy, you get the keycode on the day of arrival. The cabin offers all that you need and was very clean and nicely decorated. About the location we don't even need to write the pictures tell it all - just awesome!

The view from the room was magnificent! And perfect position for aurora light - we saw them both nights just few meters away from the cabin. And even though cabins are quite close to each other you don’t se the neighbours and you have enough privacy. There is also coffee and other cooking essentials (salt, pepper etc.) The wool blanket on the sofa was a nice touch as well. The bathroom could better though - it is clean but outdated. There was a sauna next to our cabin but it sadly wasn’t working. Important!- be careful if you are going without a 4WD car because the road is very steep and it gets very very icy. In that case it is better if you park your car uphill and walk to the cabins.

We reserved the cabin with the jacuzzi, and when we arrived, it was occupied, they OVERBOOKED that cabin, and it took Sarah a while to solve the issue, then she give us another cabin that the lock box didn't work, the location was good, but NOT the service, there's no way to get help, you have to figure it all out for yourself, they wouldn't even clean the snow to enjoy the jacuzzi, to get out of the cabin, they wouldn't even clean the road that lead to the cabin we got stuck in the snow until the snow plower came by to clean the road. WORSE EXPERIENCE!!!
