A most pleasant establishment, set in a fine location with a charming atmosphere. The garden is indeed delightful, though I rather doubt it serves as a true source of ingredients for the kitchen, for reasons both practical and evident.
The menu is curated with a sense of particularity—an appeal, perhaps, not destined for all tastes—especially given the portions, which are of an exceedingly modest size.
The service is commendable and carried out with grace. The meat dishes, I must say, are of excellent quality and most satisfying. The seafood, however, though fresh, presents itself with a simplicity that does not entirely befit a house of such standing—oysters being the noble exception.
The wine selection is worthy of praise, though the cocktails, alas, fall short of expectation.
Yet, all in all, I remain glad to have made the visit. With the favour of fair weather and every other happy circumstance, the experience proved most agreeable.
