Austa is truly special. Before having a morsel of food we had a beautiful, calming walk around the immaculate garden, were welcomed in the warmest way by (an angel) Emma and were popped on a perfect table to enjoy the evening and watch the sunset over the trees. Then we inhaled the most delicious grapefruit mirror margarita we've ever drunk - my saliva glands are squeaking thinking about it now! I could have had 10. Do not miss these. Then the food was just one breathtaking morsel after another. The attention to detail is so inspiring - real artistry. We were blown away by the lamb croquette's, the hokkaido pumpkin, a tomato salad I could have every day, a 3 year old oyster which was so delicate with magic, sharp flavours, perfectly cooked Forkbeard from Sagres - real melt in the mouth fish - beef that was, and I'll die on my sword, the best I've ever had. Then, just as we thought we couldn't eat anymore, we had NO TROUBLE devouring a banana, toffee, ice cream pudding thing and a panacotta with electric cherries and some delightful icy business on top. They really have nailed everything. The atmosphere, the relationship to the food and area, the loooovely, charming servers, the incredible food and wine (I can't remember the bottle we had but David steered us SO true, really listened to what we liked and it was exceptional!) and the architecture (they won the Dezeen award in '24!). Nothing is missing.
For such a new venture, it's deeply inspiring to see wonderful people getting it so right. Take a minute to marvel at the recycled SALT furniture inside for gawds sake! If you're in the Algarve, it would be madness to miss this restaurant.
