"The Austin family run this establishment right by Addison airport. It is well-loved for its brisket, which comes by the pound, plate, or in sandwiches. Don’t sleep on the smoked meatloaf, though, which makes a heck of a sandwich. Pair your protein of choice with a host of sides, paying special attention to the potato salad and fried okra." - Courtney E. Smith, Amy McCarthy

Google
Just your average good TX BBQ but nothing really exceptional or stand out. The meats (we tried the brisket and turkey) are good but pretty standard and a bit pricey in comparison to other spots. For our sides we got Mac n cheese and potato salad. The Mac n cheese was a bit soupy and mild tasting. The potato salad was big chunks and a mix of mustard and mayonnaise base ... If you like a LOT of sauce great. Personally this had way too much for my liking. The rolls were very store bought tasting. We took our food to go but the atmosphere was nice and they had a pool table which I thought was cool!

Google
$17 for 2 Sides & a Sliced brisket sandwich. Brisket was kinda dry, but soft to the touch. Didn't have much flavor. Seemed like the sauce added the flavor. The fries were just average fries. The Mac & cheese hit the spot though. But when your side has the best taste, there's probably an issue. I wish I could have sat and eaten because the inside was really nice. Overall it's just mid tier bbq, At least their sandwich platter was anyway.

I had heard about this place but hadn't tried until I went to hear my friends band play. I walked in and smelled food Heaven! The menu is typical BBQ fare but the difference is all in the flavor. I chose a brisket slider, fried okra, and Frito Pie. The Frito Pie was the most amazing, brisket filled goodness I have ever had! I don't have enough adjectives to describe the flavor....slurp! That's all I can say! If I hadn't been in polite company I would have licked the bowl! The fried okra was perfectly fried! It crispy yet soft and seasoned perfectly! The brisket tasted different flavor from the Frito Pie. It also was melt-in-your-mouth goodness! Very often its hard for restaurants to keep distinct flavors but Austin's did a superb job! There is something to satisfy every palette. I will be returning....just don't know when!

Google
We order lots of BBQ items from Mr. Austin each year for our Annual Soccer Showcase in December and it is ALWAYS on point! The Jumbo Dogs are incredible, the Chili, and the Slopy Joes yummy - the tacos are devine!! Mr. Austin and is teamare awesome. Best way to show Texas Hopsitlaity to the folks from across the USA attending. They love it and so do we! Simply the best!!!

Google
Got a brisket baked potato. Nothing but fatty meat. So ended up with and over priced cheese and butter potato. Will drive for better BBQ next time. THANKS FOR THE CORRECTION. Updated review: I originally posted about my disappointing meal — a brisket baked potato that ended up being mostly fatty meat, leaving me with an overpriced butter and cheese potato. What’s more disappointing is the business’s unprofessional response to my feedback. Rather than addressing my concerns, they chose to correct my spelling ("edible?"). It speaks volumes about how they handle customer feedback. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere where quality and customer service are taken seriously.

Google
A classic Texas BBQ joint. You can smell the place down the street. I got loaded fries with brisket as well as the turkey sandwich and mac and cheese. The brisket melted in my mouth. The turkey was on par with what you would expect with Texas BBQ The sauce was thick and good. A very large venue, great for hosting events. They have a full bar with liquor, wine and beer. The owner and his wife came and introduced themselves with amazing hospitality.

First time here. I’m Dallas for a few days. Food hit the spot. Missed me some home state BBQ. Brisket is my go to and it did not disappoint.

Google
Went on a Saturday parking lot was empty thought we found a hidden gem… The only thing hot on our plate was the fries…. Brisket had no flavor chicken was dry as it can be . Ribs fell off the bone but lacked flavor your better off spending your money at anywhere else for bbq

Yelp
Just a great, low key BBQ joint with quick service and friendly staff. Had live music that night too.

Yelp
I come here more than I'd like to admit, and not just out of convenience. I really love their Baked Potato, which I get fully loaded with either pulled pork or brisket. And they have one of the best cheeseburgers around. I've always had great customer service, whether I'm sitting in the dining section or the bar area. They have fun events and live music (worth giving a follow on social). But one of the most telling things, to me, is the regulars. In my opinion, a business with customers as frequent and loyal as I've seen has to be doing something right. Here, after a while, you get greeted by name, they remember your regular order, and give service with a friendly conversation. It's nice. Ask for their spicy habanero bbq sauce :) it's amazing with just the right amount of heat. The atmosphere is hometown casual, counter order for the dining area, but you can order at the bar, too, and I've always had excellent service. It's family-owned and operated and, selfishly, I'd like to see them in this location for a long, long time!

Yelp
This place has the best BBQ in DFW... They are consistent and never have an off day. Everything at this restaurant is so good. The food is fresh and seasoned to perfection. The establishment is very clean and has such a family-oriented environment. The cashiers have top notch customer service and are always so pleasant. The freaking collard greens are the bomb. They taste like a grandmother from the south cooked them lol. I wish they would sell them by the bucket . Great portions and great prices. Run and do not walk to this place.

Jay W.

Yelp
Had lunch here with some work chums. It's close to our office and we were looking for a new place. The BBQ was ok. Fries were average. Drinks were standard. Price was fair. Service was fast and the folks there were friendly.

Daniel M.

Yelp
I've only eaten here twice and both times the food is excellent. I have some of the best barbecue around in my opinion. It's a quaint little place and feels like home. My stepfather used to come here all the time just for the ribs. They are good but so is the brisket and the chicken. I don't think there's a bad thing on the menu so far that I've tried.

Tim B.

Yelp
Best place around here for bbq! The owners are very nice and they have live bands on Sat nights! We have NEVER had a bad meal here.

Eric T.

Yelp
The food is great. I paid cash for a beer, $6.50, and gave the bar tender $20, I asked for $12 change. The bar tender gave me $10 change. She short changed me.

Ashley W.

Yelp
We came here as a party of 16, and there was more than enough space to accommodate us! BBQ here can be ordered by the pound or in set plates. We were recommended to get 4 family plates (2 pounds + 2-3 sides, each, depending on plate), but I didn't think it would be enough, and we did end up ordering an additional 2 pounds of brisket. Luckily, since we ordered all the family plates we got to try every single side, which was great! The meats had really great feedback from the table, most of which were from out of town, so this was their first Texas BBQ experience.

Carl B.

Yelp
Always willing to try a different barbecue place and happened upon Austin's Barbecue while staying at Home2 Suites by Hilton. It was probably less than 2 miles off of Belt Line Rd on Addison Rd at Keller Springs. Nothing fancy from the outside and your average bbq place on the inside. It was dark and low lighting. The menu was on a chalk board above where you place your order. I had a hard time understanding it totally, so I just said what I was looking for which was a plate with sliced brisket, potato salad, baked beans and an extra side of mac n cheese and a roll and drink. The plate was 19.95, the extra side was 3.50 and the large 32oz drink was 3.75. They did not charge me for a roll was just a packaged roll. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. The potato salad was a mayonnaise based and creamy chunks of potatoes. The beans were a bbq flavored base of pork n beans. The macaroni n cheese was creamy but not real cheesy. The sliced brisket was plentiful. I counted 7 slices of brisket on my plate. It was dry but the mild bbq sauce helped with that. I tipped at the register but probably should not have considering I pretty much waited on myself for everything. So, with the tip my bill came to 36.59. A bit much for one person but live and learn. I'd go back and share a meal with a friend to save money.

Sendai B.

Yelp
I come here once a month for the best bbq. Great sides too. Mmmmmm @ okra, friends, macaroni, banana pudding. OMGAH

Alex M.

Yelp
I have been coming to Austin's for a while. They have great barbecue for the money and it's a great little bar when you want an entertaining Saturday band date night whatever you wanna call it joint. Ask for the fatty brisket and or the turkey here. The baked beans are great so is the fried okra. Just get yourself a loaded baked potato.

Donny ..

Yelp
This place sucks! Got relocated as if they needed room for to go orders! There was no one there and asked to relocate for to go order orders. I have eaten here and the food is over priced and not that good. Never saw an order go out! Not worth the effort! Skip and go on!

Yelp
A good friend of mine tragically and suddenly died recently. Her favorite place use to be in this same location when it was called Outer Marker. One of us reached out to management to reserve the space for a wake. Management was aghast at the request, responding with complete disregard and rudeness. I would highly recommend that you do not support this heartless business. See the attached image showing how management laughed at the request. Read the review by Vicky S. For more context. Completely disrespectful and dishonoring.

Rick S.

Yelp
The sides are superior to most BBQ joints, and the meats are quite good. (Try the half chicken and take the leftovers home for later.) Not up to Cattleack's meats, but you won't have to take out a loan for an order of brisket. The vibe is neighborhood comfy, and the management is friendly. It's out of the way for us, but we make the trip relatively often.

Monica W.

Yelp
The food is truly delicious meat falls off the bone sides are well seasoned it feels like my aunt or uncle spent the morning grilling for family I'd definitely go here over major chains food is good!!!!

Greg B.

Yelp
Weak! Weak in just about every way. Clearly, they are not making their own sausage, which is fine, but I don't think they're smoking it any further either. Even worse, it came out cold! How hard is it to heat up a sausage?! The ribs , in the words of my 13 yr old son, "are mush and had zero flavor". The potato salad was passable, same with the beans. The baked potato, lame, hardly and cheese, two tiny plastic cups of " butter spread " and a tube of sour cream only slightly larger than a ketchup pack. This place is an embarrassment to the term BBQ joint.

Marianna W.

Yelp
Ribs were meaty, brisket was tender with hood bark and the sides are great. That Mac & cheese is like no other.

Jodie V.

Yelp
I hosted a business event for 50+ people and it was amazing! Valerie and her husband have a wonderful business with the best barbecue in Texas a wonderful staff that was accommodating to over 50 guests and we also had a fun night with live music. I can't wait to come back to Texas and have some more barbecue at this great establishment.

Chrissy S.

Yelp
Delicious bbq at reasonable prices. Lots of indoor seating, a bar area, and booths. You order at the counter and then pick your seat (my personal favorite restaurant style). Atmosphere is calm / chill , and friendly. We were there on a Tuesday night and there were just a few other folks in there, but I bet on the weekends it picks up. Will definitely be going back to try other stuff on their menu.

Leslie B.

Yelp
Delicious!!! Better sides than most BBQ options. Definitely give this one a try!!! Meat very tasty and lean.

Treyrannosaurus W.

Yelp
Not a bad spot wasn't busy at the time but some portions are small, specifically they barely gave me any fries and the bbq sauce container they gave me was not filled even half way... the fries I kinda understand but the sauce ?? Unforgivable and as a insult to injury didn't give me utensils :( food is good but overall disappointed

Mindi A.

Yelp
Popped in with a friend for lunch. Location is a little off the beaten path, and though it doesn't look like much from outside, inside is pure Cowboy. Meats were tender and tasty, and all the sides we tried were excellent. Austin's pricing was in line with any of the other DFW barbecue spots. This meal was a pleasant surprise (I was skeptical since I hadn't heard of them) and I would definitely return if I were in the area and craving some bbq.

Nik K.

Yelp
Consistently the best BBQ in the area. The meats are always great - especially their brisket, turkey, chicken, and jalapeño-cheddar sausage. Sides are incredible as well. Highly recommended.

Dextra R.

Yelp
This is all the meat on the potato, the owner took a knife and raked through it. The owner went to get more the scale wasn't working so how could you put an accurate amount of meat. He didn't make me a new one or apologize for the inconvenience.

Tom M.

Yelp
We LOVE Austin's for BBQ. Honestly have never dined there in person but have picked up TO-GO countless times. Food is always excellent and consistent. The prices are also very fair for the portions and quality. Sides are excellent as well. GREAT JOB!

Lori H.

Yelp
Solid barbecue. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The guy taking the order was friendly and helpful with menu items. I had the BBQ meatloaf and turkey, fried okra, slow and cobbler. Was pleased with it all. It was recommended by locals and I'm glad I followed their lead. Very tasty

Jeanine A.

Yelp
I ordered catering from Austin's Bar-B-Que for the first time yesterday for a company event just based on reviews. They did not disappoint. The portions were more than adequate: meats are all done to perfection, the barbecue sauce is excellent, killed the potato salad too. My group was really happy. Thank you to the Austins.

Joshua G.

Yelp
Little over priced. Brisket was ok, little too fatty and bland. Jalepeno pinto beans were really good, fried okra had a nice crunch but also bland and Mac & cheese was standard. I think for the price I rather spend a couple more dollars for some Hutchins but overall it was ok

Will S.

Yelp
Better than average TX barbecue with ambience and terrific soda selection. Dirty Bathrooms and janky seating, so, you know it'll be decent bbq. Can't say how it compares with other local bbq as I am an out-of-Towner w/limited experience.

Liz C.

Yelp
First time at this BBQ place and the brisket was great! It wasn't dry or too fatty. My friend had the ribs and said they were good too. They shorted us one side (unless they doubled up on okra), but it was still plenty of food! They have sugar cane sodas or the watermelon ice tea. Friendly service and good ambiance. I will be back for more!

Holly S.

Yelp
my husband and i love coming here. good down home atmosphere. Delish bbq, and wings and the wings are great. We really appreciate the owners and the personal care they put into their business. Highly recommend.

maria w.

Yelp
I've been there before and the sides were just OK. Went there to give another try for takeout. The collard greens were OVERLY salted so much that I had to rinse in water! The Mac and cheese...looked creamy but what kind of cheese ( is it real cheese??) It tasted like flour and water with some color. I've had much better at other places. Will not come back. Very disappointing

Dani A.

Yelp
Ehh.... I ordered pick up on Uber eats for this order. The ribs were not will seasoned, very bland. And the french fries that I order it seem like they were the bottom of the barrel. They were all broken up and not fresh. Definitely go somewhere else for well seasoned barbecue.

Julianna H.

Yelp
Loved their okra!! We will be back for lunch soon! Seemed pretty crowded too, so it must be a popular spot for local businesses.

Travis C.

Yelp
Glad I stopped by the other day (yes pick up only during the current circumstances) and I'm very glad that I did. I ordered two, three meat plates to share with my family. And boy o boy was it great. We purchased the pulled pork, two briskets, ribs, jalapeno sausage and turkey. For the sides I picked out the fired okra, coleslaw, baked beans and mac and cheese. I have to say my favorite meats were the pulled pork, ribs and brisket. They all had a great taste and were flavorful. The sides were great as well, favorites were the mac and cheese, coleslaw and okra. The sauce was good but I think it was missing something. Not sure what but food itself made up for it. Overall I had a great meal that stretched out a few days. I look forward to coming back once time permits.

Mark L.

Yelp
I would have given this place a great review...would have. After reading the review and reply from the owner concerning a memorial gathering I can't in good faith recommend or visit this establishment again. I fully intended to leave a great review and come back in. But the absolute rude and inhumane e-mail has now lost them a customer. Laughing at someone's loss is not just mean hearted, it is morbid and completely uncalled for! If anyone has a question read Vicky S.'s review and see the attached e-mail from the owner. It is disposable!

Vicky S.

Yelp
Sharing a recent interaction with ownership so you know what type of business you are supporting. This location used to be a bar named Outer Marker. My friends and I had many fond memories here, and she recently passed away tragically and suddenly. I reached out, hoping to pay to reserve the location for a wake. I've pasted their response below, which I think is incredibly unkind.

Kevin H.

Yelp
The restaurant is right on the airport in North Dallas. It provides good barbecue at a reasonable price. The service is quick and the food is delicious! It's worth trying!

Vincent R.

Yelp
Awesome food. Got the brisket sandwich. They offer chopped or sliced. Chopped is fresh chopped not separate. Mustard potato salad was great, the collard greens were delicious. Gentleman and lady behind the counter were friendly and explained everything. Def try this place

Diane T.

Yelp
I'm not sure if I've reviewed Austins before. But I just picked up a pound of brisket and a slider (for the two minute drive home) and felt compelled. Now, y'all know the quickest way to start a fight in Texas is to declare ANY joint as "the best." But I can unequivocally say this is the best in Addison right now; and probably the last ten to fifteen years (I still miss Solly's - IYKYK). When they first opened, I wasn't that impressed. It was good bbq, but pedestrian. Since then, it's just gotten better. I asked them two years ago to cater a lunch for my brother's co-workers. My brother died very suddenly/unexpectedly and his work colleagues were hit hard by his loss. They were so nice to me and I knew they loved him. To show my appreciation, I sent them lunch (including dessert) from Austins. They did a magnificent job, and I'm still grateful. So, try them for catering. I was reminded how good they've gotten when I practically swallowed that slider whole, even without sauce! For a holiday, it was a steady lunch crowd and no one minded a few minute wait for their plates. It's nice and cool, full bar, a little country, but not obnoxious. The food shines here. It's a bit pricey. Even for very good. I ordered a pound of chopped brisket just for me (and the furry f'ers I live with) at $25. I got it home and I have to say, it looks like a very generous pound. Mama's not complaining! 0h, and the sauce is great!

Yelp
ATMOSPHERE - 3 Open, variety of seats. Smaller facility. Shares the place with a bar. We were here on a Friday night and should have been hoppin, but wasn't. FACILITY - 3 Nothing special here. The smell walking in was amazing. INSIDE - 3 The interior was clean. They have booths plus communal tables in the bar area & regular table seating as well. Again, nothing special. OUTSIDE - NA None SERVICE - 2 Service was good except for my order was wrong. I received pork ribs instead of pulled pork. The guy didn't hear me correctly. FOOD - 2 Our search is on for great BBQ. Have we found it here? Meh. As I mentioned earlier, the smell was great. It is a good smoke house, nothing too different though or exciting to see. Brisket was seasoned well and had great bark. I also had the jalepeno sausage and it was fine. I tried the wife's potato salad. Wow. Not good. The whole potato in one bite. The pieces were huge. The mac & cheese was decent. The sauce was nothing to talk about. STAFF - 3 Service was fast and friendly. SUMMARY Fresh dependable menu items served by friendly staff. I had good service and good food. Overall not so happy with food. Disappointing... especially for a FRIDAY NITE??!! The one night ANY restaurant should be hoppin!! Not this one. ==== Atmosphere: 3 // Facility: 3 // Inside: 3 // Outside: NA // Service: 2 // Food: 2 // Staff: 3 // Price: 3

Helen C.

Yelp
I was hoping to find a go-to BBQ place...this is not it. It is a cute place, good seating, nice bar area. Empty for a Friday night...-My husband's order came out wrong from the guy mishearing the order. So that was a bummer. I would have liked to try the pulled pork. I ordered 2 meat plate with pork ribs/chopped brisket (I think I prefer sliced brisket) with sides of mac n cheese and potato salad. Food came out fast. My brisket was cold, flavor was okay. Pork ribs were smokey and flavorful but a bit to heavy on the pepper. 2 oz of weak BBQ sauce - blah. Mac was fine definitely better than the potato salad. It was chunky and over done on mayonnaise...just bland. No sliced pickles which I love with BBQ. We don't live over here, so I don't think we will be back.

Lauren R.

Yelp
Went here and got the pulled port sandwich with Mac and cheese and the green beans. All of it was pretty good. Reminder to ask for pickles. Also the green beans needed a little salt but overall everything tasted good and the service was fast.

Cristina S.

Yelp
Food wasn't great. Nothing to write home about. This is Texas so you can definitely find way better BBQ elsewhere. Don't waste your time here. The owners were also super rude and definitely the reason I won't be coming back.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Delivery service from Ubereats was a sad representation based on other reviews that convinced me to order here. I ordered the 3 meat plate and was sad. I didn't know brisket was going to be chopped (no option to pick), meat was cold (was quoted 15 to 30 minutes, total delivery took almost an hour), potato salad had off putting taste . Only saving grace was the greens with great flavor. Would not try again based on this order.

Lynne K.

Yelp
The brisket sandwich basket with side was great. The brisket was tender and moist. The ambience was casual and pleasant. The service was friendly. I enjoyed the unique choice of sodas.

Tollyne F.

Yelp
Food good, but for $17 chicken 2 sides were extremely small. $17 should have larger sides and larger piece of chicken. save your money. Way too expensive for what you get!!

Bri S.

Yelp
I won't lie I was extremely skeptical bc of the reviews. As a huge BBQ lover and BBQer myself this was really good. The staff was very friendly. The restraunt itself was very nice and clean I wouldve stayed and ate if i had time. I got the 2 meat plate with pork ribs and chicken. I love whatever they marinate the meat in its git like a smoky pepper taste. The ribs were really tender and the chicken was so moist. AND they give you HUGE portions. For sides i had baked beans which were tummy and greens that were perfectly cooked. Anither plus i left my wallett on the bench and when i called to see if i left it the gentlmen in the phone was nice enough to go looking for it and hold it for me. Im very appreciate. I gotta agree with the owner you will NOT find BBQ this good in Addison especially for this price. I will definetly be back anytime I'm craving BBQ.
