My ribeye steak (ordered medium rare) was RAW, and all but impossible to cut. Why not send it back? Because I waited long enough to get it in the first place. Even if it was cooked as requested, there was a coating of some kind of seasoning on it that was the saltiest thing I'd ever tasted. It was INEDIBLE.
The baked potato was good, which for a steak restaurant is not high praise. The salad was just a salad...no thought put into it at all. The iced tea that I got was free, and that's something, I guess.
The young lady waitperson was probably pleasant, but how would I know that? She never spoke above a whisper! Tired of playing the game of "What? I'm sorry...what did you say", I just took over both parts of the conversation, no matter what she might have been saying..."I'd like the Rio Grande Ribeye, medium-rare, a baked potato with butter and sour cream, and a salad with bleu cheese dressing, and that'll complete my order".
My bill came to $40.28, or something close. I gave Silent Sally three twenties, which she took, and to her credit returned quickly. She put one of my twenties back on the table. Looking at her with confusion as I did, she said (I think) "We kicked in the twenty-eight cents". Um...that left me with not enough to leave a tip! She asked (rumor has it) "Did you need the change"? I said "More to the point, YOU need the change"! She understood, got me the change, and I contributed to her enunciation lessons.
To sum up, Sally will be a fine employee someday, but the steak should have stayed 'on the hoof'...which it looked like, anyway.
