If you just keep on walking, all the way down the main drag, and then you pretty much have left the main concentration of bars and restaurants and loud music, and then. you still keep walking a block off of the main drag, then you've found it.
Located next to what can only be described as a lonely dive bar, the setup here is a permanent food truck/cart kind of situation, with a little courtyard full of picnic tables. Though it shared the courtyard with another truck (Mexican, maybe? Thai? ) I never saw the other truck open.
We stopped by in the height of SXSW and had the entire courtyard to ourselves. It was cold that first night, and since it's only outdoor seating, that makes sense. We came back on the last night--a beautiful Austin spring night--and there were two other groups, so I get the feeling it's not exactly a hot destination. And that was perfect for me, I was tired and in need of quick food both times, and it's very affordable so the party people can have their packed, loud bars.
I went back and forth, but both times landed on getting a wrap and not a plate. The first night was chicken, and the last was a combo. I liked the chicken a little better, and the sauce really brought it to life, with that signature creaminess, with just the right amount of spice. I added dolmas the last night but would skip them next time. The wrap and fries are plenty and kept me far under my budget.
While not perfect, this was dang delicious, plenty fast, and super cheap.
