5 Best Day Trips from Paris | Condé Nast Traveler

"Take one look at the line snaking down the street, and you'll know you've come to the right place. And, as the name suggests, it's all about merveilleux here: an airy, layered meringue mound covered with sweet whipped cream and enveloped in a variety of coatings, from chocolate flakes to caramelized hazelnuts. All of the merveilleux are prepared in front of customers in a large open kitchen, and it's quite a sight to behold." - Mary Winston Nicklin, Lindsey Tramuta

Very lovely place! Would definitely recommend going there. Tiny place but still a lot of great choices.

We tried the dessert they are famous for. It was OK. It is still worth a try because the place itself is beautiful and the fact that they make the dessert in front of you is unique.

Look, I don't really like sweet stuff (I know that's a red flag) but look, if I enjoyed it, what are you still doing reading this and not buying things there? Basically I got a brioche with crystallised sugar in it and I had to give it to someone else for safe keeping because holy BRIOCHE it was unreal. Sweet, delicate, balanced, moreish. I miss it. I am glad I don't live in Lille because I don't think eating brioche every day is a great idea. But if I did, I'd do it here. They also do merveilleux as their name may suggest and I would say they are undoubtedly the best in Lille (they are also the only ones I had in Lille but double also they were amazing)

Delicious!!! But I do recommend eating the pastories as quick as possible. Also brioche au chocolat very good, and the Cream bun thingy was heavenly !

It stands true to everything I've heard about this place! This is a small shop in the Vieux Lille That serves one of the best Merveilleux you can get out there! Plush interiors that exude that elegance, you'll be delighted as soon as you enter this shop. Several flavours of Merveilleux are available but I ordered the classic one. I loved it. 😋

Although I'm not a big fan of their famous Le Merveilleux (personal preferences), this patisserie doesn't need any explanation. Their chocolate cramique (brioche with chocolate chips) is another one to taste. You can also the chefs working on their marvel!

Stumbled upon this shop while on the way to the cathedral. Only for take away or sur place. I would recommend to get the brioche as it quite good (it is big so sharing is recommended). The rest for me was ok (pain au lait and merveilleux) but maybe it is just me. The staff was nice even though with limited English.

Wow. You need to try the Marvellous cakes here, super sweet and delicate, an absolute masterpiece! We went for the small ones and a brioche for breakfast. If you have a sweet tooth, go all in!
