AvaBrew by Oren’s Coffee in Brooklyn is a hidden gem for coffee lovers! I stopped by and was impressed by the cozy atmosphere and the rich, aromatic coffee. Their brews are smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The barista he is cute. The staff was friendly and helpful, making great recommendations from their menu. It’s a perfect spot to grab a coffee and relax or get some work done. If you’re in Brooklyn and looking for a high-quality coffee experience, AvaBrew is definitely worth a visit!

I put one star because i don’t want to enjoy my Macha for $5,5 from paper cup. They don’t provide any mugs or regular cups.

This cafe is beautiful and the service was good. However if you’re looking for matcha this place may not be the one to serve it. I got one with oatmilk and flavored syrup. Taste was sort of watery and color of the matcha was very light. Hopefully it improves

Nice coffee store to come and relax, they also have a printer. staff is nice and there is a good selection of food and drinks. but it is honestly very average, good if you need something quick and are nearby but there are better coffee and pastry places nearby.

The shop is really nice for the environment but the coffee isn’t that amazing. I have had better coffee in the surrounding shops. I wanted it to be a better taste but it didn’t stand out.

The barista was so sweet. Coffee was amazing. Chocolate croissant was great. I would go back everyday if I lived in the city 💛⭐️

A spot with some seats (and printer?!) serving coffee, pastries. The staff was nice, pretty chill but average. The space and staff deserve a 4. Cappuccino: dark-roasted beans used, on the bitter side. Not creamy but solid and strong. Pastries were from a bakery in LIC (petit Paris.) My almond croissant was ok!

This is such a great coffee shop. I have been getting their cappuccino all last week. The staff is friendly and they have books for free for people to pick up. The ambiance is chill for casual friend catchup. They have a couch and seating available. I'm interested in trying their pastries and more of their coffee options. I would definitely recommend this coffee shop to anyone looking for coffee in downtown Brooklyn.

I told myself i would never again pay extra for ice in my coffee and I meant it. I don't care if it is a penny. Y'all really PMO milking your customers for every little thing. Is the ice the luxury or the $7 latte?

Standard coffee shop -- nothing too special, but was kind of cool that it's attached to an apartment complex. Very conveniently located by the subway. I came in the afternoon on a weekend while waiting for a friend. and was a bit sad that there weren't many baked goods left, mostly some savory quiches and such. No specialty drinks but the prices are not so bad for NYC! Service was okay, and there's some counter seating and couches, so pretty good spot to escape the heat in the summer. It was hard to find some ports for charging my phone, so probably not the best coffee place to buckle down for work.

Ava Brew is my go-to coffee shop and one of the best in Brooklyn. The vibe at AVA is so fun and uplifting because of the staff. They're funny, friendly and if you come in enough they remember your order! Their espresso is good as well. I've purchased beans from them on several occasions to take to the beach during the summer. I'm not sure how anyone could say this place is bad. It's always packed but the line moves fast.

Had such a wondering experience in Ava Brew! My husband and I got super fruit hot tea, iced decaf oat milk latte with lavender, berry scone, and snickerdoodle cookie. All of them were so good! The snickerdoodle was more of a ginger snap, but it still tasted good. The service was great. The barista was so kind, friendly, and helpful as we tried to decide what to get. The ambiance is so nice - relaxing, comfy seating, and there's a cute wall of dog photos that's just so sweet. Highly recommend

I ordered a latte and cardamom bun. The lady behind me ordered a cold brew. The barista with a hat and beard made the lady's drink first, when I asked him, he said it's because her drink is faster to make, then made smear eyes. Then he rushed to service next customer, forgot my cardamom bun.

Visiting NY from Savannah, GA. Ava's was around the corner from Aloft, the hotel I'm staying at. Easy to walk to from the hotel. Super quiet, staff is friendly, smells amazing in here. The almond croissant was yummy and fluffy and flakey! The macchiato was very strong and tiny... not what I'm use to but not bad!

Excellent coffee and wonderful staff. A nice place to sit in downtown Brooklyn or meet friends. People who work here are really nice. The drinks always come out super fast. I wish they had some healthier breakfast items like low fat yogurt or whole grain sandwiches but that might be what the Brooklyn clientele will buy these days.

Terrible staff. Not even once i felt welcomed and every time my mood is ruined. The management needs to pay attention to their staff being more friendly, not an experience you would like to have when you go to a coffee shop and pay 7 bucks for a small coffee.

AVA Brew is has best coffee around, and not only that, the staff is AMAZING! they are super warm and friendly and will make anything you want. These skilled baristas know what they're doing and make the most aesthetically pleasing beverages that taste even better than they look. shout out to lilyanne for being quite literally the sweetest person alive.

This little cafe got an all star rating instantly. Excellent coffee, which for me is the most important! My maple latte was eyes-roll-back delicious. Just the right hint of sweetness. You can taste the quality of their roasted beans too. Very cute decor, lots of places to sit, lots of tables and elbow room. Staff cute and friendly as well! Appetizing array of donuts, pastries, snacks, fresh juices, and WiFi. They also carry alternative milks for all diets. It's everything I look for in a espresso spot, will be back!

Stopped at AVA brew before heading to the airport. I purchased a hot cappuccino and an almond croissant. They were both delicious. The service was super fast and easy. Does AVA Brew have amazing coffee? Yes. But you already knew that. Let me tell you what really makes this place wonderful; what REALLY keeps me coming back time and time again: David, Chandler, and Shaun! These three are absolutely a joy to be around. Not only is the service here amazing (I blink and my latte is in my hands, I kid you not!) but they are absolutely sweet! Chatting with them every morning is the highlight of my day! The cafe is always spotless! And the ambiance is so warm and inviting! I would give 6 stars if I could!

Seems like a nice place, and I was keen on trying their coffee, but for 2 reasons, I am not drinking out of a paper cup (and this is all they have on offer, even for "to-stay"- orders: 1. Coffee does not taste as good as from a real cup. 2. It is wasteful and really quite unbelievable that in 2023 we are still wasting resources like that. For three years I use to work near here, so my coffee budget went largely to Ava regardless of another coffee discount place I had near me. The baristas were quite nice, and upon moving away from New York City, this is a place I dream about. Whenever I visit Brooklyn and if I was in the neighborhood, you'll see my make a visit back here, for coffee and pastry. I only hope they make it past this pandemic for me to visit them again. I remember their e-star program quite fondly. Ava Brew only accepts payment by credit card

Was in the area last week on a Sunday afternoon trying to find a coffee shop where I could do some work, and I stumbled across Ava Brew. What a great little gem. It's quiet and has adequate, comfortable seating. I'm a huge fan of the big windows in the front as well - really lets in a great deal of natural light. I bought a simple cappuccino, just for that nice caffeine kick. It did the trick for sure. Service was great and the staff was very kind. My only tiny complaint was that the prices might be a TAD on the high end, but not really by much at all. I would definitely go back. In fact, I will probably be back this week :) Highly recommend!

Absolutely love Ava Brew! The staff are super nice and the drinks are really tasty. Their vanilla oat milk latte is my go-to specialty drink, but nothing beats their black cold brew. The coffee is a little pricey, but that is to be expected at shops like this in the city. I use their points system which helps with things like dollar-off coupons and that makes the drinks more reasonable. Also, their happy hour on Friday is amazing. Half-priced drinks, which is amazing! Definitely worth noting that they are card/Apple Pay only and do not accept cash. Also, they recently started staying open until 5pm which is wonderful. Great coffee shop and definitely worth stopping in.

Come here often when I am out and about doing chores. As you enter the coffee shop you are greeted by this warm and cozy decor. Wood lines the shop, and lovely artwork hangs on the walls- giving this coffee shop a great vibe. The coffee shop is filled with cute tables and chairs for patrons to sit. The shop also has a few armchairs that are so comfortable to sit and drink some hot coffee or coco. The shop also has Wifi, which is great if you want to do some work or just surf the web. The coffee shop has seasonal menus and my personal favorite fall drink is the maple latte. Lovely balance between coffee and maple syrup. The shop also has fresh baked goods like muffins and bagels. The baked goods menu changes everyday. On this particular visit I got a medium roast blend. The coffee was perfectly roasted. Overall a great neighborhood coffee shop.

Downtown Brooklyn will ALWAYS be Downtown Brooklyn. Say "DoBro" to me and I'll correct you. If you wanna call the Bronx "The Bronx", I find that acceptable. DoBro is not flying with me. A new coffee spot in Downtown Brooklyn is AVA Brew. This new spot is attached to a new building called the AvaDoBro building. What they did was, they have a nice sitting area that is only allowed to be used by the tenants on the AvaDoBro building. As a customer, all I can do is watch thru the glass and see these people live their fabulous lives in downtown Brooklyn, sipping lattes and breathing filtered air. The coffeehouse itself is large and very much in charge. There are crazy TVs and the music is eclectic. The coffee was pretty good, they're using a nice local blend from Pushcart roasters. Yesterday it was cold and the guys in front of me are ordering iced coffees?? Dudes, what the heck, its 30 degrees outside! Lotsa of funky choices like cold brewed coffee,cappuchinos, lattes, cortados as well as organic tea. Wanna take it to the next level? Ava Brew is serving up craft beers and wines. I ordered a vegan cookie and a flat white. The flat white was served in a big mug and my cookie, even though it was Vegan it tasted like they made with butter. Mmmm mm! It's connected to an apartment building and is a small but well designed place. Definitely wasn't the best latte I had but it was okay. For the price probably wouldn't be my go to place. It doesn't offer a lot of seating either.

I visited from California today and all I could think about was how fantastic the baristas were. They put a smile on my face even though I started the day in quite a bad mood. The two girls that were working gave me compliments and confidence to last the next 10 years. The coffee was nothing short of fantastic too. The young man with the mustache made me a lovely latte and was kind enough to tell me to have a good day even though it was busy and his hands were full. I thought the whole shop had a great vibe. I could tell everyone both loved their job and loved their baristas. I highly recommend AVAbrew if you're ever in the area.

I tried their pastries and they were very mediocre. I got 3 different ones and they all felt very greasy and just mediocre. The place is cute overall and friendly service. I think there's a printer here which could be useful. I will be back to try the coffee and drinks, but not for the pastries.

Decent coffee, but snobby disrespectful cashier. Misspoke when making my order today and the cashier gives me attitude for no reason. Needs customer service improvement.

Mixed feelings on this one. The space itself is great; very...spacious. It's pretty open plan with a long communal high table and a few smaller 2-4 seat tables as well as a large couch. It's a great layout for kids and strollers, and is seemingly intended to be based on the children's toy thingie on one of the tables (unless that is meant ironically. It's Brooklyn, so that is possible). The coffee can be superb! First time i was here I had one of the best flat whites I've had in NY. But subsequent trips have shown the coffee to be a bit hit and miss depending on the barista and even how focused they are on the task at hand.

The uptaco was a bland, mushy mess. A complete waste of $7. The tap water had something swirling in it, and based off the other reviews, now I know why.

My favorite spot in Downtown Brooklyn! Fantastic atmosphere with comfy couches and community table and of course free WiFi. The staff is so awesome and friendly especially Amy and Fran! Delicious pastries and recently added gluten free donuts to my dismay:) Great spot to hang out and meet up with friends!

I have worked in the area for 3 years, but my office relocated so I now pass Ava Brew in the mornings. I stop in weekly, even meet coworkers their for a coffee break... but I will no longer be going back. I walked in this morning, Thursday August 17, and saw a line. I was a little disappointed until the guy behind the counted said something like 'what can I get started for you?' Great! I ordered what I have ordered a few times now, at a recommendation of one of their employees- small americano in a medium cup. That allows me to add milk without loosing water. The first time I ordered it, a few weeks ago, the employee and I had a discussion about how this made sense if I didn't want a stronger drink, I want to keep the proportions, just add milk. So the guy makes the drink and sets it next to the girl that is ringing people up. And before I can tell her what I ordered, she tells me that they are no longer 'doing this'. Doing what you just did? Right, so they will be charging me for a medium. Wait. What??? She and I discussed that she was still going to charge me for a medium even though I have done this before and the drink was made before she told me that they 'don't do this any more'... and that was that. Unbelievable. It is an americano. Essentially I paid for more water.

I have no idea how this place is only rated 3.5 stars... this is some of the best coffee I have ever had in all of NY (and I'm a HUGE coffee drinker). The caramel latte is like heaven in a cup and the almond croissant is hands down the BEST in the entire city, without question.

Employees are kind, considerate and helpful. The food and drinks are delicious and the lounge is a nice place to do work!

AVA Brew is always getting my order wrong. I am not sure if I'm not speaking loud enough. I have to drink a bad drink or toss it, which is waste of my money. I wish I can support AVA Brew because it's close to my job. But if every time I go to the coffee shop and my order is always wrong. Why keep coming. 1 star for their customer service.

I'm giving them one star because they do not take cash and could not get anything. They should start taking cash because some of us don't always walk around with credit or debit cards. Just a tip to the business.

I live right above AVA Brew but the first thing I tried from this place is a Kouign Amann. This is an absolutely decadent pastry that I found in a few places in NYC but never outside of the US :o. I was surprised that a small cafe place where I live sell this. However, the pastry turned out to be a disappointment, although it looked great. It was too dry and dense to my liking. And the interior was not sweet enough. The Kouign Amann was supposed to be a buttery sweet bomb! I ended up just eating the caramelized exterior. I should've played safe and bought a classic croissant instead!! I know I would come back when I'm in hurry or I feel too lazy to walk to a good bakery.

Nice place for me to get coffee. My friend likes tea here. I haven't tried yet. Will try

You might want to avoid this cafe simply for the fact the water used here is likely the same water source as the building itself. FYI, the building has been suffering from brown water issues, which has tested positive for 400% the accepted EPA limit (copper, iron, manganese and aluminum). Management maintains water is safe to drink despite these independent test results.

Finally a coffeehouse that's not Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts opened! I've known about AVA Brew for some time now, but never took the time to visit it since it's near an old company I worked for. AVA Brew is set in the base of the new AvaDoBro building. This coffee shop is perfect if you need to pop out of the office or school and grab your coffee to go, but also great to sit and relax with a coffee, organic tea, or even craft beer or wine (most recent addition to this spot). The spacious espresso bar has a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. There's a decent amount of seating here and definitely a good place to come to get some work done or for a meet-up. AVA Brew serves Brooklyn-roasted Pushcart Coffee and being the coffee nut that I am, I was super excited to try their cold brew. The cold brew was delightful I definitely enjoyed it more than Starbucks. I came here on a weekday, late afternoon to meet up an old colleague of mine and AVA Brew was quiet, laid back, and just really mellow and nice. I love the music they played as well. They played music that I would typically would love to hear at a cafe or coffee shop. Customer service here is also pleasant! I'm a Starbucks fan and if you've been to the Starbucks along Jay Street, Fulton Street, Court Street, and Montague Street than you know that it's almost impossible to sit down, kick back, enjoy a coffee, tea, or two and etc. If you're looking for a coffee spot in Downtown Brooklyn where you can sit down enjoy coffee, tea, craft beer or wine while having a conversation with someone or doing work done, AVA Brew is THE SPOT! I would highly recommend AVA Brew for anyone that's interested in trying something different, something local, something outside of Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. I know I would most certainly want to return to AVA Brew again.

Great prices, even greater pastries. A warm cozy environment that's amazing for either a quick stop or an all day study session. Staff are friendly and whip up drinks lightning quick. Would highly recommend!

Great place with a parade of the cutest Brooklyn puppies to go with the perfect Americano. Cute and well behaved kids, too though clearly can''t promise that for your visit. Baristas are super friendly and the art on the wall is not only tolerable, its' good! Didn't see that coming. Go enjoy. The pastries looked great, though we stuck with beverages. Half price late in the day on Friday too.

I don't know why the reviews are so low, I've been here a few times and have received really friendly treatment. They have lots of milk alternatives including almond and oat milk as well ! I usually get the chai latte with oat milk and it is the perfect balance of spice, tea, and a little bit of sweetness to start my morning, especially in the fall. The barista always lets me sip a bit of my drink first then tops it off with the left over foamed milk (where else do you get that nice of service around here ??) I've never tried any of the pastries they serve but they do look tempting (especially that pumpkin loaf).

AVA Brew is located on the first floor of the AVA DoBro. The idiocy of calling Downtown Brooklyn "DoBro" aside, it's always nice to have coffee options. The coffee here is fine. People working here are personable. They screwed up an espresso once, but remade it for us. Not much more to say except there's no bathroom. There is one in the lobby of the residential building, but they won't let you use it. Because they're big meany heads.

Great coffee. Was hungover and this place took care of me. Kinda pretentious and asked me if I was a resident and I said maybe. I love this city.

Employees at this location are extremely customer-service oriented and very polite the manger Emy,Marco,David,Jhony and Francesca as well The coffee is so good and the pastries are fresh and the store is well kept. There is space to eat there if you choose. Definitely better than Starbucks by leaps and bounds and in general has quality items and great service. Thank you guys

This is my favorite coffee shop The best coffee I have ever tried! Starbucks is far away behind from it. It's original coffee that you could find only here. And it is damn good. As I am coffee addicted , I can recognize the good taste.This one is just excellent. Staff is super friendly, nice and professional. They know how to make everyone happy and satisfied. No gloomy people allowed here! The atmosphere in the air would make you smile. The coffee and emotions I've got here worth the price. Come and find your personal lovely barista and caramel latte! Recommend to everyone!!! I would give them 100 stars if I could! P.S. online orders thru "Ritual" are available. +you can collect points and then get a free drink!

4 stars for cappuccino. Coffee alone would have me keep coming back. Cozy ambience with a large community table that's good for working and reading. It's quiet and friendly. No bathroom! This is a big miss. Or perhaps a way to keep the patrons from occupying the space for too long? *shrug*

I LOVE AVAbrew! The coffee is always on point and the atmosphere is relaxed and positive. When I went on Sunday the baristas were joking around with each other and were so friendly to me. It warmed my heart to see baristas who obviously enjoy their job. The barista with the pink hair made me laugh and feel included in the conversation while the other barista made me a wonderful drink. I always will recommend AVAbrew whenever anyone is looking for a great cup of coffee!

I've been here enough times to review now... I agree that it can be Amazing or just ok, but I'm going with 5 stars because the highs are high AND there really aren't any other local options nearby. Great place to set up and get a nice coffee while getting some work done with the free WiFi.

I've been a few times now so I feel like I can write an honest review. You're here for coffee right? Well the coffee is good. Not amazing, but definitely good for a morning run before work or a coffee break. I was a bit puzzled that they charge extra for oat milk; it's the only independent shop I've been to anywhere in Brooklyn that charges extra for it. It's a spacious space but there isn't a whole lot of seating. It's not really meant to be a shop you sit and do work or even have a small meeting I don't think. It's meant to be a place you get your coffee and leave. The service is alright although it can be a bit slow at times. Depending on the time of day there will only be one person working there. The pastries are good but I think they're slightly pricier than surrounding bakeries and coffee shops. It's not significant by any means, only 25-50 cents more. But this can add up if you're going every day for coffee and a pastry. And that's my issue with this shop. On its own for a one-off, it's fine. But if it's your regular shop you go to 4-5 times a week, I think you're getting ripped off compared to other shops in the area. And I think because of their location, they think they can charge a bit more than others for little things. Because really, how far are you going to walk if you work in that area or are trying to catch the train? It's good once in a while but as a regular go-to coffee shop? Look elsewhere.

Dude behind the coffee was extremely rude to me for someone who's visiting for the first time. I ordered a hot coffee, and then I catch him putting hot water into the cup. So I asked him "Sorry, was this a coffee, or an Americano?" and he sassily told me "I'm making a new batch- so unless you want it to be extremely acidic, this is it." And then turns around. Do you know how easy it is to make a good customer experience at a coffee shop? Do you know how many coffee shops are surrounding this place? To top it all off, the cup wasn't even full! There was a good inch of space at the top. The cookies are excellent though.
