One of my faves of downtown with a prime view of Woodward. Whether it’s lunch or brunch, food is always amazing here. I especially love that the menu includes monthly variations with specials. Their mocha can’t be beat! Enjoyed traditional eggs Benedict and my partner had a beautiful spinach salad.

You order at the cash register and then grab a seat. You can scan their QR code for free parking at 1001 woodward. I had their special that had mushroom arugula avocado and salsa on toast but i subbed that for a gluten free bun. And my partner had the breakfast plate with eggs potatoes bread and salad.

The matcha and chai alone were worth the stop. The taste and temperature were just perfect—and they were very pretty! I ordered a seasonal fall hash with root vegetables, over medium eggs and sourdough. I ate both eggs and less than half of the hash before feeling quite full. There wasn’t a sauce, which may have elevated the dish, but the flavor and texture of the vegetables was very pleasant without it. My daughter polished off the soup and enjoyed the bread. My cousin had the Cobb salad. She ate about half before being quite full; and had plenty left to take home for a later meal. I will definitely eat here again the next time I’m in Detroit. But, I’ll plan for more time for parking. There wasn’t street parking available during the lunch hour.

When you enter, you queue up in line to order your food. Once ordered, you find an empty table where they bring out your food. If you ordered a coffee, or a cocktail you do have to stay pretty close to the counter at the bar to hear your order being called out. The food tastes pretty great, and no complaints from myself or the 2 others I dined in with. Solid place to check out if you're in the area.

Avalon was a great cafe to visit! The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing. The service was fast and friendly. With plenty of seating and a welcoming atmosphere, Avalon makes it so easy to enjoy your time!

Sell out fraud food corporate garbage 💔 Wow- so so disappointed- this used to be my favorite bakery, and I live in Europe now so- I know good bakeries, and whenever I came to town I would get their organic chocolate chip cookies that I loved- I just picked some up for an offensive $12 for 6!!! I noticed they were not organic anymore- and I almost put them back- but then I brought them back and they were nothing but cheap chemical sugar- like those soft chips ahoy!!! They also claimed to be sea salt and bittersweet chocolate- NO they were waxy, low quality “milk” chocolate- we even tried to heat them up and they basically just melted and couldn’t be cooked any more- i forced myself to eat them with milk- and I felt diabetic-ally sick. Shame on you Avalon- I WILL never support your business again- you are everything that’s wrong with this country, because I actually know this difference and remember when you were ethical and quality.

Beautiful restaurant with wonderful decor. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Food came out quick and was absolutely divine. I would gladly come here again and it was a great start to my family and i's morning. We stayed at a hotel a couple blocks away so it was a nice morning walk to get here. I got the Challa Bread French Toast with was one of the best French toasts I have ever had!

I wanted it to be better, but it’s still pretty good. Avalon has a great reputation. I love their Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies. I had been talking about how good it was to my partner so we picked up takeout today. My sausage biscuit sandwich and his biscuits and gravy were delicious. Everything was packaged up for the optimal takeout experience—and it’s recyclable! The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were burnt. We thought about making pancakes at home for breakfast, but decided to get breakfast out. They were not great and the burnt flavor took away any hint of lemon. Other than that, I love Avalon. I love that I’m supporting Detroit and people doing good.
