Bar Avalon Review - Echo Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Eat out at enough restaurants, and tiny secrets begin to reveal themselves to you. Hidden menus, special toppings, and surefire strategies for bypassing hour-long lines - they’re the little bits of insider knowledge that can make dining out feel like the congregation of an underground food society. Here at The Infatuation, we uncover these tiny tips all the time, but rarely, if ever, does the restaurant itself feel like a full-on hack. That changed when we started eating at Bar Avalon. From the second you walk into this restaurant/wine bar/coffee shop in Echo Park, it’s apparent you’ve discovered one of the biggest secrets in LA. The casual dining room feels like your living room, the wine list is so affordable you’ll wonder if you’re getting a friends-and-family discount, and on most nights, you’ll be the only one in there. But as the food begins trickling out of the kitchen, you’ll also realize that, unlike most secrets, Bar Avalon is one you can’t keep to yourself. We are no strangers to eating inside empty restaurants, but in most instances, there’s a clear issue at hand - bad location, bad concept, or most obviously, bad food. Bar Avalon is guilty of none of these. Now, we could hypothesize all day about why no one is hanging out at Bar Avalon right now (it is sort of hidden behind a Verizon store), but frankly, that’s not our job. We’re here to make sure you understand why you should be. Even if Bar Avalon’s food was only mediocre, we’d probably still come here every week just to drink wine and chat up the sommelier. The lengthy list features mainly South and North American wines listed by latitude (geography and drinking is always an exciting combination) and has an ideal mix of both regular and natural wines. Also, it’s insanely affordable. A lot of the bottles fall in the $30 range, and if you’re just looking to get a glass, they start at $5. That’s not a misprint or a Happy Hour special, it’s just one of the many secrets of Bar Avalon. The food, you’ll quickly find out, is an even bigger one. When Bar Avalon opened in the Fall of 2019, it was a daytime-only spot, serving coffee, wine, and solid sandwiches to eat while you worked at your computer. A few months later came the dinner service and suddenly, this neighborhood hangout morphed into a place worth leaving your own neighborhood to experience. Whether it’s the caponata toast with chocolate mint, a Caesar the waiter tells you eat with your hands, or one of our favorite roasted chickens in LA, Bar Avalon’s menu is comprised of dishes you’ll definitely recognize, only with slight tweaks that make them more interesting than other versions around town. We love the blue prawns in a thick, fragrant piri piri sauce, and the chili cauliflower with anchovies strikes the perfect balance between salt and spice. Even the deviled eggs will be something you’ll remember the next day, thanks to their crispy chicken-chicharron topping Bar Avalon serves food that you can eat with anyone, on any occasion - a lunch with picky co-workers, a classy date, or all alone in a late-in-the-week shame spiral. It’s a place that impresses, comforts, and excites - because finally, you have a place to tell all your friends about. And that’s way better than any secret topping. So what are you waiting for?" - Brant Cox

There was a good party inside. Great music, the bartenders looked pretty, the club was not too full either. The entrance price was fine considering the place.

Google
Great place architectural design is nice. The speakers sound great. Their lighting and laser shows are awesome. Their drinks are good, not too expensive and they have such beautiful female staff. Lol Each shows different but always a great time.

Went to see Joyryde here. Pretty cool club. It has a balcony and two bars on the lower floor. You dont really get too bad of a view of the stage, so for live show venues you can't go wrong. You're going to have to pay for parking anywhere around here plan on spending at least 20 bucks on parking. Cool venue though.

Sinaxo

Google
Place is pretty cool. Went for a bubble rave and everything was well organized. Parking was $30 but didn’t realize other parking spots around were cheaper.

Hollywood Beauty Awards

Google
Photos speak for themselves. They could benefit from more than a scotch tape upgrade. **Important to note that Ruby and the production/audio/lighting team are A+ professionals. Ruby is on the top of her game and incredible to work with***. The rental process, however - and customer service in-office need an upgrade as much as their duck taped booths. Post-event multiple guests made us aware that gift bags were missing from the seats where they were placed on upstairs tables. One guest told us that a member of the Avalon serving staff was seen and heard bragging about what they got in the gift bag. This is not the first time items were stolen from our charity fundraising gift bags at Avalon Hollywood.

Google
It was my first time here and i have to say i had a blast. You can have fun and not brake the bank. Food and drinks are afortable and the ambiance is extremely lively. You just need to go, recommend 100% i am definitely coming back.

Google
Idk what it is about this place but there’s always people here who are super disrespectful. The whole night people shove and push. The venue looks great but the fact that it’s in the middle of Hollywood causes random people to go who are only there to see girls and be disrespectful. Even the palladium isn’t as bad. Academy is the same if not worse. Sound Nightclub tends to have way better crowds. Overall if you’re trying to go just make sure to be patient and polite.

Wow! What a venue and staff! We hosted an event at the Avalon this past Friday and it truly was the best our company has ever thrown. We host a large meeting every January to kickoff the new year with our sales team and the Avalon was the perfect place and met all our needs. Mel, the events manager, was absolutely a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We had many changes and questions, some even very last minute, and Mel and her team were always quick to answer and help direct us to the best options to fit our needs. The production was amazing! Part of the package we got we were able to utilize all the screens they have and it was incredibly impressive. Their production team is top notch and also very accommodating to all our requests. The day of staff was super professional and took care of all our needs. The food was amazing and we got to meet the chef who you could tell was passionate about his craft. If you’re planning a meeting and want to wow your guests, I highly recommend the Avalon. Big thanks to Mel and her team for helping us pull off such a successful event. It will be hard to top next year and we will absolutely be back.

Yelp
Avalon Hollywood is an iconic venue with an amazing atmosphere and outstanding acoustics. The staff is friendly and professional, and the historical charm adds a unique vibe. It's the perfect place for concerts and events, definitely worth a visit. I've been to three concerts here, and each time I was thrilled that the performance was held at Avalon. Parkin is available nearby-some spots are pricey (to the right of the building), while others are more affordable (to the left). If you're attending a concert, I highly recommend reserving a cheaper spot in advance

Yelp
I was here for a live music event, specifically for BM KARD first solo tour for AFTER THE AFTER party show. It's walking distance to the metro station, there was plenty of parking. The security was attentive and no one looked concerned if their car would get hacked or stolen. I am from the sf bay area and that is always the number concern when I go to concerts. No one looked concerned and managers informed the crowd if someone parked their car in the wrong spot. It's easy to get an uber from the venue. There is food offered at the bar if you ask. There is no water fountain. You have to pay for the bottled water. Pros The led screens wrapped around the entire building. It created really cool and unique visuals for the show. There is disabled and handicap areas for people who cannot stand long periods of time. There were booths to lounge in the back if you wish to sit. The alcohol was good and reasonable priced. Cons I am only giving this place a 4 because there is no bag check while entering the venue. I personally find that a concern. There is no Marque for ongoing events in the area like the concert I attended. The venue did get hot and sweaty since I attended a sold out show. HOWEVER, I do like there is another bar and lounge area upstairs for intimate and smaller parties. The drinks got alot stronger compared to the main event. Overall, this was the perfect venue for the first 21+ kpop event in North America. I wish more music acts performed in the venue.

Yelp
I like Avalon because of the space. It's not like Academy or Exchange with overcrowded dance floors, which I find so annoying. I hope Avalon continues to respect their max capacity. Besides the huge dance floor, there is an upstairs balcony with wide bench seating. It's a place to cool down, but you can't smoke up there. The girls restroom is on one side, and the guys restroom is on the other side. There's a bar in the back lounge area; there are smaller bars on either side of the front dance floor. I like going to the back because there is more room and usually you can get your drink faster. Parking - Hollywood has some street parking spots. There is a lot nearby that attracts Avalon or Pantages patrons, but it can be $20-40. I would Uber. Even if you get dropped off on the other side of the street, there is a crosswalk that makes it safer. Music - It really depends on the night. I usually come here when they are hosting events. They've had events like Emo Nite, Netflix is a Joke, Taylor rave, Bollywood etc. They've had top DJs like Kaskade, Mitis, Nurko, etc. Tickets - Def buy tickets ahead if you want to go. If they happen to sell out, I think you can buy at the door (credit cards are accepted), but it'll be marked way higher.

Yelp
In town for the night and we wanted to party. We decided on this place and took an Uber here just to be told at the door that they were closed to outsiders for a private event. We were kinda bummed. That's something you should advertise. It was raining too. The bouncer was nice enough to let us stand by the heater until our Uber arrived.

Rogelio R.

Yelp
The club has a lot of space and was well ventilated which was great. The bars were not over crowded as they had one at each level and restrooms as well. We went for reggaeton rave which was a lot of fun, the dj didn't play much reggaeton but we had fun nonetheless. Drinks were good too got a good buzz!

Yelp
I went here for kpop edm night and it was fun, but not as great as the one at academy. The venue itself is nice. I wasn't a big fan of the $10 water bottle though, pretty ridiculous.
google avatar

Christian A.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here multiple times and it's always been good vibe. Entering was quick and organized, never had any issues. They've had a lot of "themed" raves which I think was a nice experience. Hopefully that's not completely taken away with the partnership with Insomniac. Plenty of room on the dance floor along with the top floor balcony area. We've unfortunately never tried the food, but the drinks are not bad.

Yelp
My friend And I got our phones stolen last Saturday, so watch out for thieves. When I went to get a new phone they told me other people reported the same, so apparently a lot of people got their phones stolen on that same night. Besides that, it was a good venue, ambiance was nice and music was on point.

Yelp
Love this place. Came here with a number of friends for a show and it was a great atmosphere. Loved the upstairs seating area and bar. Great friendly bartenders and security all around. Only complaint is they don't take AMEX, so make sure to bring another card. Will be back again.
google avatar

Binh D.

Yelp
They literally scammed us, we got tickets online, got in line they told us to get in to, came early, waited 2 hours, then told us the line we're in is not moving unless we pay extra $40... fucked up. Avalon is the worst out of all the clubs. Even the security didn't know what the fck was going on... once we were in it was okay 4/10, but the entire experience was -5/10. DO NOT COME...
google avatar

Gagik K.

Yelp
An oldie but a goodie. The space hasn't changed in a long long long time but the vibe, the music, the environment has also stayed the same which is amazing. Great space that has great events from DJ's to sip and paint.
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
I came to the edm night with my good friend the ambiance is good but unfortunately the club scene is so different from back then it's so boring.. the bartenders are great thought drink prices range from 14-20.00. But they were friendly and attentive the DJ played some good songs but he kept stopping and changing the song not being mixed together which was a buzz kill not coming back... till the music is mixed better I don't won't to stop from moving because of the tempo change from upbeat to slow singing song ...

Yelp
Concert review: This place is very pretty- sorta like century gothic vibes? They have an accessible balcony which is small. The dance floor has space but not for like throw it down, just fyi there are a few stairs leading down. There's a lobby area with a few tables/seats and they even sell food for 12-15. The bathrooms can have a bit of a line, but they stay clean. There are signs everywhere about pickpocketers tho haha. Air flow wise was good, but there wasn't much effects, feel like it was easy to get to the front. There wasn't anything dangerous, but it might've been the vibe of the concert. Music wise, acoustically it was solid ( live show). They did kick people out by the time the show ended, but there was also music continuing to play in the club and a few people going in after which was weird. Drinks were average price around 15, I don't recommend an amf as one of the alcohols in it was just super cheap, but the sunset looking one, lemonade, and pineapple tequila were all good. The only other caveat was parking was $30 and it was quite hard to find spots despite having 2 lots. Interestingly enough u can see the sidewalk stars lol. The parking businesses seem to be fluent in Spanish.

Yelp
I was at Avalon for an event. Parking can be tough, but that is for anyplace in this area, so it's to be expected and no distraction from a great night. The venue is spectacular. From the outside, low expectations are set. Walking in, one finds a beautiful space that felt clean and maintained. Considering the parties that go on here, and I've been at some, having a clean and maintained feel is a real accomplishment. Kudos to the cleanup crew! The light and audio was top notch and the food good. The buffet style we had was done well, with dishes kept up, so lines were moving ok. I enjoyed the layout a lot, with defined areas, instead of one large space. Check out nice seating upgrades, such as balcony and booth options. Seating was not too crowded; however, I removed a star due to where we sat. Our table was close to the bar and the bartender, and other staff, would talk so loud and long that we couldn't hear the speakers. We hoped it was just a drink order, but no. The conversations were long and loud, and honestly, not very interesting. Even during a solemn presentation, we had the background noise of a conversation. A couple of times they were asked to talk at the other end of the bar, but the banter would end up back to the end closest to the tables and our ears. I think for a party, or concert, this place is amazing. But for an event that has presentations and speakers, unless the bar is moved to the front room and away from seating areas, or staff is reminded and trained to be aware of how their conversations are heard, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Yelp
4/28/23 4/29/22 false advertisement Purchased a Rauw Alejandro after party Fri, Apr 28th, 2023 at 10:00 PM - Sat, Apr 29th, 2023 at 3:00 AM we left the concert at 12:30 am and got to this club at 1am we were rejected from going in because they stated they were gonna be closing soon. The ad said it would be over at 3am and we all notified them of this. Also a lot more people were coming from the concert and were running into our same issue. The front guy was very rude and didn't want to let us in we said that it was ok and asked if we could have our money back since we weren't being allowed the one hour we paid for. He rolled his eyes and walked away instead of hearing us out and trying to solve a obvious problem. I will attach a screenshot of the hours.

Yelp
THIS VENUE IS SO BEAUTIFUL I came here for the LA AleXa meet and Greet in the US on October 30th! The staff was so nice, bathrooms were SPOTLESS and my jaw DROPPED when I saw how close we were to the stage ! (Even with safety procautions!) The only issue about this location is that there's no actually accessable area to park and that when waiting in line, in cuts into the parking lot next to it, but besides that, this is an awesome venue!
google avatar

Melina S.

Yelp
Very spacious! But be careful my girl friend got her found pocketed out of her purse. I would definitely go back.

Laura L.

Yelp
I have never been so upset with a bartender. She was the rudest person I have ever dilt with. I have been up and down California going to different events. I never thought that someone could be this ugly. The manager was even worse. Only someone with no common sense or education would reply the way he did.
google avatar

Jaz R.

Yelp
If I could put 0 stars I would. Paid $40 to park for less then 5 minutes due to charge cover fee being $120 to get in and they wouldn't refund you. Place is garbage and unprofessional

Jeremye S.

Yelp
It's an okay place. Parking nearby is about 40$ and they do have a major problem with stealing so be careful with your things. Also there is no security here. They don't check bags or have you go through a metal detector. Just scan your tickets and walk In.
google avatar

Nickie B.

Yelp
Great ambiance inside and good AC. I forgot my fan but soon learned I did not need it. Drinks are $25 each for a well drink.

Vincent V.

Yelp
cool venue but bad service in the restrooms. there were bowls of candy in the restroom so me and my friend assumed we could help ourselves, but the worker in the restroom kept pressing us to pay him, he even went as far as to put his hands on my friend. even though we put the candy back in the bowl, he kept pressing us as if we were obligated to pay his bitch ass. next time leave a sign that says the candy isn't free or hire better workers that don't throw a tantrum over a fuckin lollipop.

Jack J.

Yelp
A group of us were there yesterday 4/11/24 for a charity concert event. After spending over $400 at the bar, I asked the lady with the curly hair at the bar for a cup of water and she denied me a cup of water. Seriously a cup of water and said we only sell water, all she had to do was use her soda gun to give me a cup of water...
google avatar

Yelp
I went here for an EDM concert on a Saturday night. And this place is a really big venue! There's two parts to this venue. The upstairs has brighter lights and seems to be more of a lounge/bar area. There was a DJ there with a small dance area and some benches. Downstairs had a much bigger area with plenty of dancing space and a large stage for a DJ to play music. It's a lot darker there with fun lights. The drinks were okay. They are overly expensive per usual. Cool place though!
google avatar

Maribel P.

Yelp
Went there for a private event. It's a small but Very cute venue. Saw to bar locations, bartenders were polite and drinks were reasonable.

Janet C.

Yelp
My two friends had their iphones stolen here earlier this month. I came here as well and had my driver license and credit cards stolen!! A guy said the same thing happened to him and believes there's an organized group/gang doing this. Avalon needs to take some accountability and get more security and install more cameras. It's not normal. I would probably not come back and would not recommend.

Yelp
Just having fun with a friend out there, some where in Hollywood :) no idea where the heck we are just ran into crowd :)

Lupe V.

Yelp
This Place Is 3 thumbs down, too packed over charge on drinks no seating nothing but young crowd. The only good thing about this place is the fact that it's in Hollywood I do not recommend this place they lie they have no space to dance of how full it gets. The drinks are so watered down and they play 5 seconds of ever song then change it completely. My Experience here for the 1st time was a disappointment waste of gas

Connie W.

Yelp
I went to Avalon very often, but i can't imagine my phone got stolen on Sat, before they have a lot of security around the dance floor, but when I need help I can't see anyone, maybe next time change to Academy LA or Exchange LA because their security are more helpful.

Catherine R.

Yelp
LOVEEEE avalon!! It's so fun and so much space to dance and sit down. The drinks are always well made and the staff is always super friendly. Of course there's always annoying men but they can't do much about that lol My boyfriend and I went Halloweekend and we got in for FREE and were able to stay in upper area on a little couch next a bar. I loved it. Also the DJ was amazing!! He played bangers after bangers. 10/10 Will be going again

Yelp
Gosh, it feels like I've been out of the clubbing scene a couple of lifetimes ago! Seriously! Haha. But NYE has always been an exception, or should I say an excuse to go, especially if something exciting is going on. I don't mind paying extra to avoid standing in lines, I rather skip the people watching, outside publicity, marketing part for the club by paying extra to party earlier. That was exactly what happened. We bought our tickets online. Easy, no stress, and just do it. However, ticket prices kept on increasing by the day as NYE nears. So you all better all make up your minds sooner, and don't be dumb like us, buying at the last minute. Avalon Hollywood was a place to go during my younger days. My friends and I would go, drink, party, meet new people, drink some more, all until the club closes at 4am. I really don't know how I did all nighters. So crazy! But I must admit the Avalon is a very popular place with lots of events going on every week. Great sound system, and the DJs who performs there are commonly well known internationally. Yes, I'm kinda into EDM electronic stuff. Why? It brings good energy and good vibes, in my perspective. The club is popular, but doesn't seem to be as busy like before. Maybe because Los Angeles has too many events going on nowadays. But, it doesn't matter to me. I only want to have fun! Drinks are not cheap. I'd say about $15 for a mixed drink that does not tickle my fancy. Would I go back? Yes, if there's a good DJ in town. Don't have high expectations, and don't mind the drunk-tards. Just enjoy the music and have fun!

Yelp
This review is for the amazing staff (especially Trintee)! I lost my purse during an event and when I contacted them the next day, Trintee let me know it was kept safe (with everything still inside)! Can't thank them enough.
google avatar

Yerlan B.

Yelp
The best place in LA. Definitely need to visit at least once. Such a great experience and one of the best club in SoCal. You guys are my favorite!
google avatar

Sean S.

Yelp
Great if you're looking to go to place that's open past 2a that doesn't serve alcohol and is filled with crackheads. Bouncers are quick to double charge you when you walk in also, even if there isn't a single soul waiting to go in.

DM G.

Yelp
This place has great music, BUT watch your cell phones!!!! The dance floor is packed, making it easy to steal your items and lines for drinks is another place that you're in close contact with people. There are signs warning of cell phone theft, so unfortunately it happens often. Buying a bag that goes over your chest is one way to keep your phone/items safe. Hoping this will save someone the heartache of having their phone stolen. Also, when you pre purchase tickets, you have to stand in line with all the other people, so not sure what the incentive is to buy tickets. This place is not security conscious, they dont check bags or no metal detectors of those who enter the venue.
google avatar

Linda A.

Yelp
Last night they stole my iphone in this place, the phone was in my purse while holding my purse. This place is unsafe, they have no security and when I reported the issue I was ignored and threatened to be kicked out if I made a scene. for your own safety stay away.
google avatar

Valerie V.

Yelp
The interior is gorgeous and the venue is huge! There's the huge space downstairs for dancing and fun music, then there's the upstairs with a lounge area and bar which is a more chill area. I had a good time here except I got my wallet stolen from my purse WHILE I was carrying it on the dance floor
google avatar

Evelyn N.

Yelp
What people don't know is this is also a Venue to hold events. We have worked with them for a few years now, doing multiple big events, and we have really enjoyed the experience. The staff there is amazing! So kind and so on top of it. They will care about your event and making it a success.
google avatar

Shelby J.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here! I attended a KO Boxing event! I had never heard of this venue before attending this event, and I was pleasantly surprised with the interior of the building. It appears as though this use to be a club of some sort or maybe they've had other types of events here. There are balcony seats so it looks like it's potentially a theater or they've had theater productions here as well. The event was wonderful it made me feel like I was in Las Vegas at an actual fight you might see on TV. The seating was great and I did not feel crowded. The couches that we sat on in the balcony were spacious. There were numerous places for you to get drinks if you wanted to partake in that. I just hated that I had to pay $20 parking in the lot next-door but it was worth it for the night. I'm not sure what other events they have here but I would be interested in seeing what types of other events are held here so that I can come back for another entertaining experience.

Yelp
Great place to visit to party to all the top DJs . Service is great with plenty of friendly HoTT Servers. Security does a great job of keeping a mindful eye on situations and felt safe .

Yelp
Wow! I loved this LA nightclub a LOT more than I expected. My boyfriend and I came here after winning tickets and a meet and greet for Dion Timmer during Control Fridays where the crowd is 19+. I typically do not enjoy events with under 21 crowds, but the venue more than made up for it. You've got two lines on either end of the entrance, one for tickets and one for guest list. There is also a central entry point that we were able to cut through since we won tickets, though I'd imagine people with tables or VIP are the only other guests that make it through this part. Once inside the venue you've got a giant screen that leads you to the men's and women's restrooms on opposite ends. There's a bar before you enter the main room and there's also a DJ playing in this section of the venue. Pro tip: use the restroom upstairs since most people don't even know it exists. Extra pro tip: if you happen to have all access or onstage access there is an additional set of restrooms and a full service bar as well. From here you've got the option of going up to he balcony where there are plenty of plush, stadium style seating, or braving the crowds on the floor level. I personally recommend going upstairs since you'll get an amazing view of the visuals and there's more air circulation, but that's just me. The drinks vary in price but amongst those that I would consider quite overpriced for it being outside of Vegas. 8 oz water bottles are thankfully only $5 but a vodka red bull will run you at around $14-15. Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience here for a club that's located on LA's busiest intersection of Hollywood and Vine. If you're looking to save on parking, there's $10 parking on Selma Ave and just a little further down on Vine as well. Also, you canNOT miss a stop at Dos Burritos afterwards. It is an absolute must if you aren't paying for street vendor hotdogs. (17/100 - 2018

Yelp
I really wish I could give this place 5 stars because the bartender Guy was really awesome and made my trio super delicious drinks. However, my friend got her phone stolen out of her back pocket so definitely beware of theft on the dance floor. Also, the bathroom attendant was very pushy about giving tips, so don't grab the mints or perfume if you don't have any cash to tip. Otherwise good music, 4 full bars and lots of seating for breaks in between dancing. The three stars go to my guy, Guy for being super lit!

Yelp
I do not recommend this place if you are looking to have a good time and party. The music is 3/10 and the environment is not very pleasant. I had a terrible experience here and there does not seem to be any security at this place. I also read the previous reveiws about items being stolen at this venue. Unfortunately this also happened to my boyfriend and his wallet was stolen.

Yelp
Old school since 1927. I frequent Hollywood often but this was my first time to this venue. We attended the Ronnie James Dio cancer fund raising event. The entrance was easy - no hassles. The lobby area is sufficient in size and appearance. We did not have any seats or a table confirmed but we were able to find some bench seats that were comfortable and a perfect view of the stage. The bar prices are reasonable but they don't offer beer on tap. We enjoyed our visit to this historic venue.

Yelp
I went to the Avalon Hollywood last night for the first time ever. I went to see Pauly D. I was both thrilled and disapointed while there. I was happy to see Pauly D perform live. I was dissapointed that a post on the club's Instagram page said he would go on stage at 11:30pm when in actuality he went on around 12:30pm. I had been anticipating him to go on at 11:30pm because of the club's post, and was somewhat annoyed I had to wait as long as I did to finally see him. I think the Avalon Hollywood is definitely appropriate for DJ sets. It's not that big of a venue, but I like that it has two floors. I thought the light displays and smog machines added to the experience. The sound was good. Note: I overheard and witnessed some arguments and fights on the floor during Pauly's set. A lot of the tension in the crowd came from peope spilling drinks on eachother or pushing eachother to pass by. Be courteous on the floor - say "sorry" if you accidentally spill your drink on someone and say "excuse me" when passing someone.

Yelp
I came here Memorial Day Weekend for a Mayhem Event where they were playing edm all night long. The venue itself was spacious with a beautiful ceiling. The "main stage" had a dance floor that was big enough and didn't feel cramped. Beware that there are 2 steps to go down onto the dance floor (I witnessed a few people tripping and falling because they didn't notice it). Upstairs had a huge sitting area where you can still see the stage and still hear the music. The restrooms were also kept very clean.

Yelp
Wanted to come here a few times before making the call on what was my original first impression...Avalon is the BEST electronic music club in Los Angeles. Now obviously that comes with a few caveats: I'm a trance head, I'll always be a trance head, and I've only been here on trance nights. So for all you techno fans, I'm not trying to impede on your territory at Sound because that's the only techno club we got. This review is strictly for everything else but the music (except for one point I want to make). Long story short, if you can't find space at Avalon, you're doing something wrong. I may be in the "get off my lawn" part of my clubbing days, but I value comfort a LOT LOT LOT more than I did say three years ago. Basically, I'm getting tired of being packed into a hot room with almost no space to maneuver. Whether in the massive lobby area with it's own separate DJ decks, the hallways leading into the main room, the HUGE dance floor, the large smoking area, or the upstairs balcony that has FREAKING COUCHES, there's really no reason for you to ever feel cramped here. Yes, the AC in the club is on point, although it does get hotter if you're in the balcony. And in all my times here, it's never been packed with so many people to the point that I've wonder "why the hell am i here?" Lastly, I appreciate Avalon WILL bring the trance artists I want to see that Create never do and Exchange almost never do. I consider myself blessed to be in a city that has such diverse tastes that we can bring these trance artists to L.A. All in all, Avalon is not perfect. But I've definitely enjoyed every visit here and hope to come back more often in the future!

Yelp
Things I like about Avalon- the layout is different and spacious, multiple bars all over the venue, coat check is $4 (cash only), big bathrooms, not so sticky floors. Lately I've noticed that they are being pretty open about having new and upcoming DJs. I'm all about supporting those local artists! Things I do not like about Avalon- long lines that move very slow, the dance floor/stage area is a bit small and it can get too hot and crowded very easily. But the thing is you can really say this about almost every club.. Only reason why I stopped going is because I lived in Orange County at one point but glad to be back in LA and look forward to going to Avalon more often- 1 star for music, 1 star for venue, 1 star for cheap drinks!

Yelp
So I came here on 3/11 for Dabin's afterparty after his shrine show. I was very impressed with the service, decor, visual set up, etc. However, the sound was EXTREMELY loud. I go to concerts and events on a weekly basis and rarely would I feel that I needed to criticize something like this, but here it was so bad that I feel like I need to. The club isn't that large. You can hear the music totally fine from any part of the balcony or pit. There's no reason to blow out all of your patrons eardrums and force them to scream into eachother's ears to communicate. Please.
