The Best MICHELIN Guide Hotels in Palm Springs

"This place has seen it all, from Joan Crawford and Errol Flynn to American presidents and one King, but the Avalon is no Rat Pack wax museum or Jetsons-modernist fantasy." - Mark Fedeli

"The Avalon is a long-time Palm Springs staple, beloved for its central downtown location, resort-style amenities, and Spanish-inspired villas and bungalows surrounded by greenery. The well-designed property is ideal for a relaxing vacation that's still close to the action. Plus, three pools, a spa, and well-reviewed dining are enough to keep you on-site."

I love that it's very near and walkable to all the Palm Springs hot spots. Spa has a unique layout... is on the smaller side but still has all the amenities and experienced therapists to help you relax. Chi Chi lounge has great food and staff is super helpful and friendly. Pool side service is great. The property is well kept, peaceful at night and offers 3 pools. I've been there 3 separate times and will recommend it.

If you're considering a booking, I think you'll enjoy yourself more if you prepare your mindset ahead of time, which I did not. Just erase the idea of this being a 4 or 5 star resort, and decide you're going to enjoy it and not think about the value for the dollar or compare it to other hotel experiences. Well, that's my advice. There's apparently a massive hotel shortage in the area, particularly when major festivals and events are running, so we have to put this place in context for what the local market is bearing, in terms of cost and quality expectations. The cost here can be outrageous, but also checking around, it's not necessarily out of line with what's happening in the area. The quality of the facility and the service is not nearly what you would expect for paying this much, but again, this is what they can get away with in PSP. First, let's cover the positive. Location is amazing, it's just a 2 block walk to the heart of the downtown area with shopping, bars and restaurants. There's a hot tub and 3 pools, one more for adult lounging the 2nd one a 50' pool great for exercise and laps, and the 3rd one is purely for kids and family. Also the food at Chi Chi the small eatery is very good, as are the drinks. You can get Marriott points! The rooms and grounds are clean and well-maintained. Any of the service people who are subject to tipping are engaging and friendly. Basically, the valets and wait staff. Ok now let's get to the other side of the coin: things to temper your expectations. The food cost is high (eg, $6 for about 8 oz of Coke and $20+ for a small lunch) but this is not out of line with the local area "tourist pricing" -- unless you go to a local dive. The staff not subject to tipping (front desk, etc.) are disengaged and sometimes downright rude. And while the wait staff are friendly, they are S-L-O-W. I waited about 35 minutes for a simple lunch item and it's common to wait a long time for a drink order, even when they're not busy. We asked twice nicely for our room to be made up before leaving for the day, and it was not done. The rooms are sparse and cheaply appointed, especially for the price. You'll need to haul your luggage around some narrow sidewalks with lots of cracks, and up some janky stairs, or pay the staff to do this for you. Some aspects of the facility seem to need maintenance or update. But overall, it's not a bad place to stay, especially if you value pool time. Just calm down your expectations and don't think about the cost.

We’ve stayed with the Avalon 3 times. It’s just our preferred place. There’s a very even vibe of casual fun. Not overly quiet and peaceful. BUT not giving party palace either. It’s just right. The staff is what really makes this hotel a nice place. They’ve always been so welcoming, accommodating & friendly. We’ve stayed in the hotel part & a courtyard suite by the bungalows. The hotel room was more updated. The suite (room 108) while fun (like having a little house), is older. On the surface, it’s clean. All white interior. Lovely. But furniture is a just a bit rundown, cracked mirrors, stained vanity drawers that stick so a couple of them don’t open. With that being said, it’s fine! Those things would probably bother me in any other hotel. Also, the suites by the back entrance tend to be loud. You can hear everything…the back entrance gate slams, the traffic on the street & for some reason maintenance feels the need to blow leaves with an annoying blower every morning around 6:30am….i digress. Little annoyances. But overall, we always feel comfortable here. And the food selection is great. Love ChiChi (the on-site restaurant). The pools are clean, peaceful. We’ve stayed at various hotels in Palm Springs. But we keep coming back to Avalon and next time we’re definitely reserving a bungalow!

Google
5 star hotel with 2 star rooms and 5 star service = Solid 4 stars. If I had not read reviews and been more mentally prepared, I would have been very disappointed with the rooms. We went here with eyes wide open and were not disappointed by the experience, however, damn, I could see how some people would be pissed if they lost the room roulette when this is an insanely expensive hotel. We stayed in a 2 room bungalow, every comment that says the pictures make it look Luxurious and in real life it’s shit are spot on. NOTE: I’m not sure if bugs are seasonal, but I saw one ladybug, 2 ants and a wasp. All outside. Several hummingbirds would come visit throughout the day, like, land on you, that was cool. In the end, the pool experience here is AMAZING and that is what we were there for, 6 days of pool side. There are 3 pools, 2 hot tubs and really some of the best “secret garden” landscaping I have seen. For 6 days we did not have a single staff interaction that I was not excellent/patient/helpful/prompt. Update: read Cody’s response, all class! All that being said, I don’t think we will stay here again. The rooms are just so bad for the price. This was the sentiment of most couples we interacted with. I know it’s weird to give them 4 stars, but that just shows the strength of the pool and service experience.

Google
Enjoyed my stay here! Was a 10min walk into town and had great amenities. A few different pools to lay by although a lot of people reserve their chairs with towels so depending on time of day can be hard to grab a chair. Gym had 2 pelotons and other workout equipment. They let me check in to my room early because it was ready which was appreciated. There’s several fees on the room rate, such as $60-70 per night amenity fee which was why lowered the rating since I didn’t realize this when booking

Google
Beautiful, quiet property! Room isn’t “fancy”, but was clean, updated and perfect for my husband and me. The Regency pool was stunning and the perfect place to spend the day reading and relaxing. Food was delicious and our service was excellent. Great location and we were able to walk to shopping and restaurants. Would recommend!

Google
Everyone was so friendly, smiley and accommodating! We needed a freezer in our hotel room and Maintenance brought us a whole fridge/freezer unit! They also had cribs and pack & plays available. The hotel room was really disappointing. Our AC unit started dripping water in the middle of the night. We were right above one of the pools and it was super loud and bright. If you're traveling with a young one, I'd recommend requesting a room away from the pools. Room was clean but the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. Consider bringing your own pillow, too. We loved exploring the property and the sister property! Flowers were beautiful. The grounds could be picked up a bit more- lots of dirty dishes laying around. We ate at Chi Chi's for happy hour (amazing HH menu!) and breakfast. Delicious! Didn't get to try the sister property restaurant. Overall, our experience was good and we'd visit again. We'd try a bungalow next time.

Google
Rooms are horrible. Noisy highway noice without correct door fittings. Whitewashed in paint as a cheap fix up. Some of the newer boutique hotels for half the price are much much better. Staff are lovely, drinks are nice but DO NOT come here for a romantic or relaxing room stay.. pools are okay but old vibe. As others have said very disappointing for $ spent. Spend a bit extra and go the Parker or colony palms

Yelp
My husband did an amazing job by selecting Hotel Avalon in Palm Springs for our Anniversary celebration. We absolutely loved our stay at this lovely boutique hotel from the moment we stepped onto the property! This hotel is a gem boasting an Old Hollywood feel. Featuring 3 stunning pools that are perfect for lounging under the sun. The bungalows are beautifully designed, offering a cozy yet stylish retreat. Everything from the landscaping to the decor is thoughtfully curated, creating a serene atmosphere. Everything is clean, inviting and beautiful. The team was incredible! A highlight was definitely Candace at the front desk--she was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making the check-in and out process smooth and enjoyable. Thank you, we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I had a staycation at Avalon with my sister. We really loved the grounds of this boutique (see pictures) and enjoyed the pool & drinks poolside. The hottub was great in the early mornings & evening. The hotel smells amazing as you walk around it. The rooms are fairly basic and could use some furniture updating and renovation, especially for the price point

Yelp
Review: 2/5 Stars Unfortunately, we would not stay here again. We visit Palm Springs often, and my partner chose this place for my birthday, but it fell short of expectations. The rooms are outdated and not well-maintained--our sink was clogged, and despite calling the front desk, no one came to fix it. Room #115 also had a strong, unpleasant odor, like sewer or backed-up plumbing. The property grounds were okay but nothing special. The only positives were the complimentary valet, complimentary yoga, and the heated pool, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. A special shoutout to Genevieve, who led the yoga class. She was fantastic--5/5! Even if you're not staying here, you can take the class for $15, and I'd come back for that alone.

Yelp
This lovely establishment has manicured grounds three incredible pools and a lovely all white decor that makes you believe you woke up and you were in heaven! If you want more of a resort vibe, this is the place to come and chill. The staff is more than kind and friendly and makes you feel like you are at your mom's casita complete with a cold beverage waiting and attentive and knowledgeable staff helping you to navigate Palm Springs. We will be back and make it a longer stay

Yelp
Tired, tired, tired! This place is in dire need of a renovation. Everything looks worn. The first room they checked me into looked at a cement wall. That was the "view". They're charging prices like it's a high end boutique hotel. It's not. It's a motel made to appear "hip". I canceled the 2 night. Giving it 2 stars because they apologized, and offered a slight concession. A couple staff members mentioned it did need a renovation. That's all you need to know. Skip this place. Too many other nice properties in Palm Springs.

Yelp
When you pull up the hotel is right off the main street, valet is complimentary with your resort fees. There was a bit of a wait in the lobby but they offered each guest a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or sparkling water. My room did upgraded from a king guest room to the 1 bedroom bungalow with my Marriott elite status. I did also have 50$ f&b credit. I took advantage and had dinner at Chi Chi. The food was delicious, I got the smash burger & also the spicy margarita. The cocktails were well made & the burger was top notch. I was here for work and it was centrally located and convenient. I would come back again.

Zoe L.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here last month for a getaway weekend. Nice location, however I wouldn't stay here again because my car was damaged by the valet here and they are denying accountability.

Yelp
I hired a lawyer to sue them. They've been dodging my lawyer for a little over a year. I took my complaints to Instagram and they blocked me. Next up? Small claims court before the statue of limitations expires.

Yelp
LOVED our wknd there, its our new home base for PS activities for sure. (not a light statement, we've stayed at dozens of spots over the last 15 yrs.,) Everyone from the Valet parking, to the front desk, to the bartender and all the staff treated us like we were special. Anything you need, they are on the spot to assist. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice, its awesome, and you can walk 1 block to a dozen other choices. Thank you all and we'll be back!

Yelp
Mom and I appreciated the minimalist and very clean rooms at this hotel. ALL of the staff members that we personally encountered were warm and welcoming. The beds are very comfortable, and the manicured grounds are fun to walk around while enjoying quiet moments alone. The fitness room is a bit small, but some exercise machines are outside if you start to feel a bit claustrophobic. I would definitely plan to stay here again as it is close to the main downtown strip where all of the great eats await the visitors who seek a little foodie adventure. I highly recommend staying here during the midweek in December before all of the kids go on winter break. Fun stuff!

Cheryl L.

Yelp
We recently had an event here for 30 people and it was perfect. The planning process with Michelle, Food and Beverage Manager was great. The service at the event was awesome. Everything was ready when we arrived. The appetizer food was exceptional including a great range of vegetables and charcuterie. I would use this venue again!
google avatar

Yelp
First stop after arriving from Chicago. I got a resort pass knowing that this would be the perfect place to chill and have a nice lunch poolside. Had the brussel sprout caesar salad at the recommendation of my server and the iced latte was perfect to wash it down. It was very quiet and relaxing, and I recommend coming by.

Allison K.

Yelp
Disgusting, dirty, outdated, rooms have bugs; Ants, bed bugs, mosquitoes. I think a motel 6 might be better. Do not waste your money.
google avatar

Polly F.

Yelp
A little slice of heaven. A small boutique with welcoming and friendly staff, great food, a pool that gets lovely sunshine in the afternoon. It was all we needed. I only wished our stay was longer!

J D.

Yelp
Would actually give this property 0 stars. They are affiliated with Marriott but Marriott customer service can offer very little to no support should an issue arise with Avalon Bungalow Palm Springs. Front desk is hard to reach (routinely goes to a voice mail line) and interactions with live staff are limited at best. Property charged for a non-stay as well, even after Marriott Customer Loyalty pre-checked multiple times prior to the stay and found no reservation on record. Also just fyi Design hotels of Marriotts should and DO populate in the Bon Voy app, except for some reason this one...? Interesting.

Yelp
So tip #1 wait until the last minute to book on the apps we did hotelstonight and got the room half price. The room was basic the bathroom was too basic. The pools and the property itself was very nice and the staff super nice. Tip #2 Check your room before you unpack because we spent one night and got bed bug bites!!!!! We reported the issue to hotelstonight app and they contacted the hotel itself and they tried to tell us it was mosquito bites. Well we know what mosquito bites look like on our bodies and we even sent pictures. I'm not happy with the way the hotel or hotelstonight handled the situation we were on the phone for over an hour that they should take some action so no one else has to have the same experience. We were in room #306. It's hard to say anything negative because we really liked the hotel but I will definitely be on guard next time and check the mattress and room first. Beside the bed bugs everything else was really awesome the staff is super nice and the parking is secure and the rooms seemed clean. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years but this is the first time we experienced bedbugs and it was really gross. They bite three to four times in a line like a trail or cluster and they are itchy. Both my wife and I get welts with mosquitoes so these definitely were not mosquito bites. Check out the photos for yourself.

Yelp
Exceeded our expectations...which were high! Staff's pleasure is to make your stay amazing! We had never been here before, but will be back!

Yelp
Our family celebrated my Moms 85th birthday last month with a 4 night stay at the Avalon. I had never experienced such kind treatment from a hotel staff before! They went above in procuring a wheelchair for our family's use while we were there. They knew our names and welcomed us back each time we went out and found space for all 10 of us to have an impromptu pizza party where we could all be together. The accommodations were clean and lovely. I look forward to visiting Palm Springs again and staying at the Avalon!

Yelp
There are many pros to this darling little hotel. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite facing the pool on the ground floor. It was spacious and had 2 bathrooms. Pillows were comfy, mattress was so-so. The view from our patio was lovely! I would have kept our curtains open, but everyone who walked by looked in. Probably better to stay on the second floor. Service was great. Housekeeping came every day which was much appreciated and all of the staff was attentive and friendly. Cons: THERE'S NO WAY TO GET OR MAKE COFFEE BEGORE 8:00!!! I'm a coffee snob from the Pacific Northwest and I bring my own supplies for a pour over. All I require is hot water, which I can get in any hotel except in Vegas. I asked the front desk twice and they were stumped, as if no one wants coffee before the restaurant opens at 8. Closest coffee shop is .4 miles away. It's also an old building so there aren't ample outlets. There wasn't one within reach of my nightstand, so if I wanted to charge my phone overnight , I had to do so somewhere else. Also, poor internet connection for AT&T users.

Steph R.

Yelp
LITERALLY this hotel sucks. Charges like it's a chic boutique hotel it's literally a motel 6. Bed squeaks. Not clean. Thin walls. It like piggy backs on its sister property the ingleside inn (which is stunning) and they simply are probably only in business because of that. The food & drinks at the pool are spectacular but aside from that this place literally sucks. Do NOT spend your money here.

Yelp
honestly, this place is JUST okay. if you are looking for a more luxurious hotel experience, i'd definitely recommend to stay someplace else. staff, valet, and bar people were great and the drinks at the bar were delicious. but the rooms are seriously lacking. the bathroom was a good size, but was super dark (no light in the shower) and had only a pedestal sink (aka no place to put toothbrush, hairbrush, etc.) the longer i stayed the more i realized that common amenities found in more modern hotels are missing at the Avalon. No full length mirror. No USB ports at nightstand. No clock!!!!! I will say that the (very pricey) items in the minibar were a nice touch. but i could not believe that one of the items was a box with condoms and a vibrator!!! while some might appreciate this, I would much rather have a clock so i can see what time it is in the middle of the night without grappling for my phone!!! not a bad visit, but won't be staying again.

Teri K.

Yelp
Hotel looks better in pictures, it is cute but not for me. This hotel is very quiet, so if you like quiet then come here! I like a little bit more of a happening hotel. The rooms are old, but someone upgraded them by repainting it. The shower in the website is not the granite basic shower. Ours was old and the coloring was off. You can see black spotting all over the shower. The drawers and dresser are old wooden pieces you would see in an antique shop. The whole room felt like I was back in time. There was barely any counter space in the bathrooms. No clock, no mirror in the room. Two pools are adult only pools and one is for children. The children pool had no towels and no water when we got there around 4:00 pm. I asked the guy to refill both and he only refilled the towels. Overall, not impressed. The amount you spend in my opinion is not worth it. There are plenty of more vibrant, fun, and exciting hotels in Palm Springs. The staff was nice at the front desk and welcoming, that was a pro.
google avatar

Yelp
Grounds are nice, staff was great, rooms are nothing special. My dog tore a hole in the provided dog bed (it was kind of old and obviously used), and when I told the front desk, they said it was covered by the pet fee. After I checked out and got home, I had to call to get a receipt and noticed a $250 charge had been added to my bill. The pet fee was $100 and apparently didn't cover an old dingy dog bed.

Moko V.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of boutique hotels. It's determined by each owner what "service" is... right??? The location is good... the valet & front desk staff are friendly. It decently priced... Nothing great to say about it...
google avatar

Claudia D.

Yelp
Great deal purchased via third party for a Sunday-Monday stay in September. Check in was very accommodating, we were offered champagne but we didn't have to wait long. Our room was the Premium Studio King but I will say it was a bit of a let down because it didn't look like the picture but it was clean and decent room and stocked bar but room for our things. We didn't get a chance to dine but enjoyed hanging and going for a swim. Also had a wonderful dinner in walking distance at Melvin's. The hot tub/spa also looked nice but didn't get a chance to go in. I would come back again. They offer valet.
google avatar

Stephen Z.

Yelp
Do not use a third party vendor to book rooms here. Management seemed to understand that if you use a third party vendor to bring in money that the hotel is still responsible for the representations of that third party vendor i.e. if the vendor says there will be pool views, there needs to be pool views. Still looking into legal recourse. Management could have said they were sorry, but they did not. $100.00 credit (it was first a $50.00 credit) on a $500.00 a night room is not going to cut it. Also, don't book here if you are disabled. You will get a room with barely any sun, a ceiling where you can hear your upstairs neighbor's every move along with every time they flush their toilet, a loud refrigerator from the 80's and a patio with weeds. Loud exhaust from the valet and passing street cars. Also, white walls with black masking tape are not a design feature. The overall hotel is old with lots of white heavy stucco. The pathways and steps need to be steam cleaned as they are dingy. The food is way over priced. The old saying of if "you can't make toast without burning it" is appropriate for the avocado toast. The resort fees are huge and pay attention to the fine details. The overall place has a vibe of desperation and their management need to go back to school to learn better client service. Will not be back and will let all our friends and business clients know.

Yelp
Love it ! Love the views and vibe. Very close to downtown Palm Springs . Would recommend!

Yelp
I found this amazing little gem, for a weekend getaway. I booked it on a whim and it was exactly what I needed. I checked in with the hotel and went to the pool and laid out. Once our room was ready they gave us a call and put our stuff in our room and went back to the pool. The pool were distant from each other and total of 20 chairs at the adult pool. It was so relaxing, the rooms were beautiful and I requested to be out somewhere really quiet. I was put in the back over looking the mountains. It was beautiful. The staff here was exceptional. Thank you again Jasmine for such great hospitality checking me in! And Mike in Valet! And I cannot wait to be back. Thank you.

Yelp
We've been going to Avalon Hotel and Bungalow since they opened. When walking through the front doors of the Avalon, we are transported into another dimension. I am able to let go and relax. Avalon is lovely slice of heaven. The grounds are fragranced in orange blossom trees, verdant grass, palm trees and tropical pools. I love the decor and the soft entrancing rhythmic music. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly -always going above and beyond, not to mention fun to talk to. I personally think they did a fantastic renovation on the rooms and bungalows. The bright color doors that say welcome home on the way in...the brilliant white floors and walls...and a bed made out of clouds. Will we be returning? Yes!!!!
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
If you hate sleeping, this hotel is for you! The rooms are more like tents than enclosed spaces in their ability to contain sound or shut out the outside world. We can hear EVERYTHING - from people talking while walking by the pool mere feet from our door, to the music they play loudly, to housekeeping merely walking down the hall. It's not even 8 am yet, and vacuuming and the staff getting the pool ready for the day have woken us up repeatedly. Not to mention that they have already started the music back up at 7:45 am. The 2 stars is for the staff. From the valet guy, to the front desk peeps, to the restaurant servers - everyone was a sheer delight. I still would never stay here again

Yelp
I had my bachelorette party here and it was a blast. The hotel has the perfect charm and the staff is excellent.

Yelp
This resort is everything you need to restore and relax over the weekend. I booked it based on good reviews and it did not disappoint. In fact we came back 2 weeks later and decided to stay at the same place. The Pool service and food outstanding!!! Location of the hotel is located walking distance from central streets with multiple restaurants and tourist shops. The hotel is dog friendly. Great couple get away !!!

Yelp
I'll begin by saying that this place is beautiful! Pros:The grounds are amazing and it is definitely for adults. I wouldn't take a child there because it feels very adult like. Employees are very nice. As far as the cons: bed is uncomfortable. Too much light comes into your bedroom so if you like to sleep in forget about staying here. No coffee maker. Too much out door noise, especially from staff. Shower pressure is so low! If you're going placed on the second floor above the laundry room, the washers will wake you since the building shakes.

Yelp
Gorgeous grounds and perfect atmosphere, loved all the different pool areas, trees, decor and friendly staff. Great bartender, excellent cocktails. Loved every second.

Ashley D.

Yelp
The hotel is very clean and modern. There are multiple entries and exits. Lots of public parking on the street and valet parking was included in the hotel fee. One of the highlights for us was the person at the front desk. He explained all the amenities included with our stay and the credits we had. He was very clear and accommodating and so friendly. The location is amazing as well. It is like two blocks away from many shops, restaurants and stores.

Yelp
Came here for a quick girls trip to Palm Springs. Four of us stayed In a 2 bedroom suite. Very spacious with a living room and a small kitchen. One of the charming parts of Palm Springs is the old school vibe of the city. This hotel is consistent with that old school but upscale vibe. If you want new construction or a business travel experience this might not meet your expectations. The crowd is super fun but not crazy, perfect for a group of moms looking to take a break and have a drink by the pool. I took advantage of the on site spa and had a wonderful massage. Dinner one evening was also on site and the meal was good (note that if you visit Palm Springs make your dining reservations early). Down side. 1. The rooms are a BIT dated. I find this charming but be prepared for quirks along the way. 2. It's expensive - good use of Bonvoy points if you have them. The spa is also expensive. 3. No good parking. If you don't mind the valet this is a non issue. Also, There was a wedding happening the weekend we were in town so certain parts of the hotel (certain pools) were closed for parts of our stay. This didn't impact our plans at all but it could have so be aware.

Yelp
An old Viceroy Hotel that hasn't been updated. Charged over 800.00 for a Thursday night. Definitely not worth the price. Staff was friendly

Yelp
Do not stay here!! Payed got an upgraded pool view room and when we arrived we got a moldy smelling room with a view of a wall. Would be fine if the lighting in the room wasn't darker than a unlit basement. Asked the front desk why we were not given a pool view (when we paid extra for it) and was told pool views are as per availability and not guaranteed (so why are you charging extra for it!?). After 2 hours we finally got our room changed. Second room, the water pressure is non existent to a point where I had to slowly fill up a cup of water just to pour it over my body to wash off soap. The windows have zero sound proofing so being poolside is a detriment as people start being loud by the pool around 730am. The room also has a distinct musky smell. The people next door to me would arrive back late and loudly and since the door has no sound proofing you would hear everything. Also whenever a neighboring unit would flush or turn on the shower you would hear a loud clunk noise throughout the space. Pros: didn't get bed bugs Cons: everything else

Let's start with the staff. If I could give five stars to the service alone, I would! Everyone from the front of staff to the valet were awesome! So polite and professional! The sad part is the pricing for this place. It just felt like I stayed at a motel. For the price I expect 100% better. Although a very clean establishment. I've payed less for better accommodations. You can literally hear everything that anyone does. The music playing from the pool/restaurant. Random guest etc. I think the walls are made of paper. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
We spent 4 nights at the Avalon. Monday to Friday. The staff was welcoming. Everywhere you turned there were people cleaning. I was a little disappointed to hear a couple of the morning bar/restruant staff discussing a guest who complained about the music. The guest may have been rude but to discuss her in front of other guests was tacky. The valet staff were the best. The front desk staff spent time with me suggesting routes to take for a bike ride. The facility is very clean and cozy. There are plenty of lounges poolside. The pools were a pleasant temperature. The hot tube was large with well placed jets. The spa included a small exercise room, treatment rooms and a steam room. My spa treatment was excellent. Our guest room was on the 2nd floor over the main pool. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. Sadly the appointments were very lacking. There was no place to put our clothes. The closet was hard to get into due to the bed being too close. The bathroom did not have any hooks or towel bars. We had to hang our hand towel over the magnifying mirror. The shower head had a sharp spray and was extremely hard to get a comfortable temperature. They played music at the main pool. It was a bit loud and not at all soothing. I think the Avalon is good for a couple of nights, but until the add hooks and drawers to the room more is not comfortable.

Yelp
Why it is generally a nice hotel, a few things are quite annoying: 1. No hooks whatsoever. You cannot find a single place to hang your towel or pajama in the bathroom. Clearly a brilliant designer's choice. 2. They advertise free valet, bike rental etc. nice right? Except they charge you extra $52/day at check out, whether you used any of this or not. Very sneaky. 3. They give you free drinking water but only first night. No replacement after that. I think it's cheap. It's more honest to just charge. Bottom line, I don't believe I will staying there again.

Yelp
I stayed here many times when it was a aviceroy so I can't comment on the current level of service, but under Viceroy it was exceptional. I was temporarily in a wheelchair the second time I stayed (I'd just gotten a serious diagnosis) and they immediately upgraded me on that and every subsequent stay to one of the accessible bungalows -- at no extra cost. I saved six hundred dollars per night. The basic rooms are very pleasant and have patios but the bungalows are a small house with a private walled patio. Lovely seating area, lavish bed, and beautifully large bathroom. The shower was a sybaritic delight. Excellent high end toiletries and not in those annoying little bottles. The gardens are lovely. It's so private since the entire property is enclosed and right against the ridge.

Yelp
The smallest room I have ever experience in any hotel anywhere. No desk, no dresser. Room only had space for bed and two small nightstands. We had to live out of our suitcase as there was no place for clothes. I had difficulty turning around in bathroom. All this for $600/ night! When I complained the hotel waived the resort fee and gave me a $50/night food credit. However, the hotel should have disclosed the room configuration when confirming my reservation. To be fair the grounds were beautiful, food and service fine.

Yelp
Only our second time traveling to Palm Springs from Las Vegas and this trip has proven to be one of the best vacation experiences we've ever had. We travel quite a bit, so it's saying a ton. The staff and service has been outstanding to say the least. The property and grounds are beautiful. So many shout outs that it's hard to remember all the names... but I'll give it a college try! Front desk...Collin, Cody, Emily & Christina... WOW.. you made our entire experience mean so much. Food/Beverage... Christine, Mayte, Zoe, Santiago & Ben.. we bow down to YOU! Valet/Bellman... Mike & Allen... no words for how much respect we have for all you do. Of the ones I have forgotten the names..my apologies. Not one employee here disappointed. We will never stay elsewhere when coming to Palm Springs and we look forward to our next time around. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

Yelp
Overpriced and outdated. A friend had his wedding here and I was in one of the bungalows, which was surprisingly shabby and strangely designed (Concrete floors. Curtains separating the bedroom instead of walls and a door.) given how expensive it was. There were no outlets to speak of in the bedroom, as well as no alarm clock. Normally I just use my phone as my alarm clock, but it seemed really odd to not provide one when people aren't able to plug their phones in near the bed. When I mentioned the outlet situation to the front desk the just kind of shrugged and commented that it's an old hotel, what can you do? Which is a strange thing to say as tons of older hotels are capable of updating their properties. My room also had a broken light switch and, despite its size, no storage to speak of. There wasn't even a towel rack in the bathroom--a very odd use of space! Staff was nice and the grounds were cute, once I figured out where the heck I was going. The place is a bit of a maze, and I was very surprised that the hotel doesn't provide maps or any information whatsoever in the rooms about their property and how to navigate it. Given how expensive the room is for how little you get (and they hit you with $$$ in resort fees on top of your room rate, so look forward to that!) I do wish I had saved my money and stayed somewhere else instead.

Yelp
I would give five stars for the service, everyone who works here was absolutely wonderful! Also, the food at the on-site restaurant was really good and they provided amazing service. The room itself is not worth the $1,200 we paid for two nights. My husband and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary here in October 2020 and wanted to splurge on a nice weekend getaway. When we opened the door to our room we both looked at each other and said...how much did we pay for this.?? I think this is one of those old motels that has been turned into a boutique hotel. It used to be the Viceroy. The entire room from floor to ceiling was painted white, even the saltillo tile was plastered with white paint. It looked cheap, The bathroom was so small, you can't fit two people in there. The linens felt like they were very poor quality. I was surprised by the quality of the room for how much we paid for it. I appreciate the service and the people who worked there but I would never pay that much money to stay there again.

Yelp
Had a quick dinner tonight at the bar and it was impeccable. Delicious Pinot Noir & a burger to go with it, the Affogato just hit the spot, and I was smiling from cheek to cheek. Excellent food excellent service, everything about this restaurant is excellent.

Yelp
Stayed in this hotel with points for a night and had a nice stay. There are three pools and the hotel has a resort-like feel with bars and fire pits. We were fortunate to be upgraded into a large hut that had multiple rooms and a beautiful bright living space. The King bed in the room was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is central as well with gorgeous views of the mountain not so far away. I recommend staying here if you're visiting Palm Springs! Parking wasn't an issue, we didn't use valet, but found a parking spot close by.
