I was in Miskolc and I visited Avalon and the atmosphere was very good and warm, however, I did not fully enjoy my time there.
The beginning of the visit was quite positive, especially the fact that the waiter spoke English, which was quite convenient for nevertheless, us. When one of us spoke Hungarian, I was completely left on my own for the rest of the service. This change in service felt very unprofessional and quite disappointing.
Also, it took over an hour to get the food which I considered very long than I expected. Despite being informed that there were many people in the restaurant, I have seen other restaurants to be more busy with efficient service and short waiting times. It was also frustrating to see other tables who came in after us are being served their food and we were not informed about the delay.
When the food was finally brought to the table it was not that good, at least not as good as it could have been. Having heard a lot about this place and having to pay a 15% service charge, I expected much better food and service.
We came out of the restaurant feeling quite disappointed, which is rather frustrating, given how the event started. I only hope that Avalon can step up their game in terms of the service and the overall consistency because it has a lot of possibilities to be a great restaurant.
