"This restaurant is housed in a converted 19C coaching inn opposite the medieval castle. A tight-knit chef and sommelier duo are at the helm, pooling their gourmet skills. The chef carefully prepares local ingredients and freshly caught fish to create mouth-watering dishes, such as Roi Rose de Touraine pork, perfectly confit, packed with sweet and savoury flavours and served with delicious pak choi steamed then flash-seared over a flame. As you will see, there's a lot of work involved; apart from the wonderful bread from the local baker, everything from the amuse-bouche to the dessert is beautifully crafted and made in-house. A lovely dining experience, not to mention friendly service and savvy wine recommendations from the sommelier." - Michelin Inspector

Hidden gem, definitely underrated. Amazing food, chill & unassuming environment for a great culinary experience. Notably unpretentious for the region: just really great food in a cozy place.

Ordered the shareable steak. It was too raw although this was the way I order it. The steak was lacking flavor. The complimantary pumpkin soup was creamy, delicious and the best part of my meal.

Absolutely love this cozy restaurant who’s meals look like they’re straight out of your grandmas kitchen. Highly recommend this restaurant. I love how they’ve used old school desks as their tables, it adds to the charm

Had a fantastic côte de boeuf and bottle of Gigondas - both priced well. A few negatives. The service lacks polish….the girl who served the wine dribbled it over the table and struggled to pour it. The menu is confusing and some of the pricing is not clear and not explained by the staff - for example the ratafia. I’m sure the menu said €8 but we were charged €14. When I queried it was given some mumbled response that was unclear (I don’t think the waitress knew either). I only mention this because the excellent food,, cooking, wine, and atmosphere was let down by the shoddy and inexperienced service.

The restaurant had a nice ambiance and friendly service. The food was good but ultra rich! They had some interesting food preparations but it can sometimes taste overwhelming. We may try this place again, but focus on simpler dishes.

The location is wonderful, a great setting. The food however is very disappointing; the guacamole (comes with the nachos) is from a jar, the gnocchi was hard and seemed to be cooked twice and the dessert did not seem to be homemade. This could be a very nice restaurant if more attention was paid to the quality of the food. It was too expensive for the quality of.

We had two excellent meals at Avarum! If you’re in the area make sure to visit! The amuses-bouches were very tasty, and the soups - a zucchini velouté, smoked carrot velouté, and an onion soup were highlights! We also had delcious game croquettes and the signature beef dish for two-So good!!! The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful and speak excellent English if you need them to.
