I presume the eat-in experience is pretty good, given the reviews. The takeout situation, however, is quite poor. We are staying around the corner and chose Ava's because we could walk to pick it up. We ordered online and got an estimate of 80 mins. OK, we thought. They must be busy and it must be good. I went to pick it up, noticed the restaurant was cute, the bar had a few people, but it was far from packed. The hostess went to the kitchen, came back, and told me my order would be ANOTHER 15-20 mins.
At this point, it was late and we were hungry, so I went home, poured a big glass of wine, and waited to pick it up. My wife went this time because I was hangry. She returned with the food. The place is 600 feet from our door. IT was cold. Are you kidding me? The Detroit pizza was, I don't know, I guess "ok" but mostly just bread/crust - and, again, not hot. Could have used more cheese, sauce, and toppings. More like a focaccia with some pizza essence than actual pizza.
My advice is to close the takeout business. We've had nothing but great meals in Rehobeth, but this was a fail. Seems like they do ok with in-house, but the takeout experience is a debacle. Sadly, I don't plan on giving them another chance. Too many good places to take that risk again.
