Yelp
Not your average butcher shop...Avedano's butchers its own meat (and even has butchering classes) and carries gourmet, hard to find pantry items (dried pasta, spices, teas, olive oils, jam), prepared foods, seasonal produce (e.g., fuzzy almonds), fancy beverages, fresh pasta, fresh bread, homemade sauces, soup stock, The Latest Scoop gelato, cookbooks, etc. Where else can you get lardo, Tuscan pork, Let's Be Frank hot dogs, duck fat, wild boar salami, goat carnitas, cuttlefish ink, and 4505 Chicharrones?
By the register you'll find all sorts of sweet treats including chocolate tiles from Poco Delice, Kika's Treats, Clairesquares, Vosges Mo's Bacon bars, and cute pins that say I love you more than bacon, I love you more than ham, I love you more than pork and I love you more than steak.
They were just mentioned in the NY Times and featured on the CBS Morning Show too.
* Pulled pork panini ($6.85) with pickled red onions, mustard, and fresh tomatoes. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, including the mustard. The sandwich was dripping in oil/grease though (definitely made it less enjoyable). It was the greasiest Panini I've ever had - by far. Even the bread (ciabatta) was oil soaked. The meat was on the dry side. I liked how it was warm and toasty. I'd like to try some of their other paninis (steak with gruyere, BBQ chicken, turkey with bacon, porchetta). I don't know why it was so oily but hopefully it's just that one type of sandwich.
They even have a frequent shopper card; you get a hole punch for every $25 spent and it's easy to spend $25.
