Avenida Cantina

Avenida Cantina is legit, even for the gringos like me. The staff was great and the bartenders were excellent. The late night tacos were horrible however. I am not sure why the tacos were so bad considering everything else was well played. I will definitely give the tacos another shot and they won't stop me from coming back.

Despite not having a trained DJ the bartenders are super chill. Once they get a DJ that transitions songs better this place will be even better. Also it's one of the few places I haven't seen any drama break out. That's nice to.

The food was very bland. I had multiple types of tacos from the pork belly, chicken and steak and they all lacked seasoning on the meat. You can’t rely on the toppings to make a taco good. Work on the basic meat seasonings. Service was good but food was not. This is more of a bizarre nightclub that happens to serve tacos than it is a Mexican restaurant- thus the word “cantina” in the name I guess.

I’d only been here 1 time before but a couple weekends ago some friends of mine were there and told me to come so I went there…. I handed my ID to one of the security guys, they wanted to take my picture..? I was like ok no prob… The guy was like ok look at the camera please…. —— Out of nowhere the owner (come to find out) steps over and says to his security “Uhhh… that’s too much blue for a white boy”… I was kind of shocked honestly… I had on a black hat, blue shirt, black shorts, black socks, and Blue shoes…(Mind you I’m by myself trying to get in) I told the security guy I’d go change into a black shirt… would that be cool or? He’s like yea go change shirts - So I run to my truck switch shirts (now I’m in all black with blue shoes) and when I got back to the door now the security dude pulls the little retractable thing on the top of the little pole and says “Yea sorry bro you can’t come in” … I really couldn’t believe it … Not sure why they said yes when I asked about changing my shirt if they weren’t gunna let me in anyway…? ALSO- I was completely sober I hadn’t been drinking or smoking or anything at all prior to getting there. I’m not sure what the owner has against me or “white boys” .. he’s a white dude himself. A couple days later I realized my License wasn’t in my wallet, Immediately I remembered giving it to the security guy then running out to change and all that stuff happening and they never did hand me back my License and honestly I was kind of insulted, embarrassed, idk so I just left not thinking about it. I couldn’t ever get a person on the phone when I called Their phone number (ever during business hours) so I went back down there for my ID and wouldn’t you know it, its nowhere to be found and they don’t have it. I know for a fact I left it there that night, I guess that was my bad, but I guess they just chucked it or whatever. Not gunna be going there again ever…

Amazing place highly recommend it!!! We had such an amazing time here yesterday. The owner Jason made it super special for us I told him my husband and I met here exactly a year ago and he made our reservation for us and our guests. He put a beautiful bouquet of flowers with balloons sati congrats and the D.J made a special announcement for us. Just an amazing night . Thank you soooooo much to everyone at Avenida see you soon !!!!

The drinks are absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is lively and fun, and there is food to buy that isn't insanely priced. The set-up inside is somewhat strange but it's still a great place to go dancing and have a few drinks.

New spot on Yakima Avenue that combines two of our favorite things - Tacos and beer! As it was lunch time I only sampled the tacos and they are solid! The tortillas are all hand made by a couple ladies and the meat choices are A standard pork, chicken or steak. The steak was not overly flavorful, but the pork and chicken we're both very good. Also give them extra points for the four different salsas that are available! The sauces range from some pretty good heat down to more mile. A couple had great smoky flavor and the guacamole based one had just enough kick to make it interesting. I didn't make it into the bar area, again as it was lunchtime, but apparently they've got some good drinks and with a taco spot right outside, you're never more than a few feet away from a delightful snack! They have specials on tacos throughout the week were each one of them is two dollars, so you really don't have a reason to not come check the place out. The owner was greeting everyone during lunchtime and the ladies who are making everything we're super nice and very efficient. The place is going to be expanding with an outdoor eating area that will make those long summer and fall days even more pleasant! This is going to be a very popular spot, especially with the lunch and after bar hours crowd! Definitely worth your while looking into it.

Went here while visiting my good ol' hometown. The owner showed us the entire concept and layout. He even gave us a shot & drink on the house. Amazing hospitality and concept. Yakima needs more spots like these -- reminds me of spots in Wynwood (Miami) and Puerto Rico! Great atmosphere and hospitality by everyone at Avenida Cantina! Highly recommend. I had intentions to return but unfortunately had to cut our trip short but I will be returning when I am back in town!

Worst experience ever the owner of the club said, "I am able to control little girls. However, you guys I need you guys to tone it down." Very disrespectful and unprofessional, to top it off when we asked him where we can sit he said, "This is not a Mexican restaurant I can't sit everywhere." When using the restroom we found a Illegal substance and we made him aware and he responded with, "Maybe it's Ajax!" Please take your business to PJ music box where they took us in and us right away.

I've been here twice now and you've been closed both times. I didn't realize you were not open for lunch on Saturday so I don't blame you there but when I did a google search online this morning it said your hours were from 11am-7pm Mon-Thurs. I showed up at just before 3pm and the lady walking out said you were not open. Guess you don't want my or anyone else's business? Hard to run a business if your not open during the hours your posted to be open ‍. I heard your Birria is good but how am I to know? I'll give you another chance but not a good first look.

This place has horrible service, the owner thinks he's better than everyone on the planet. There is only one bathroom for the guys and there's always a huge line. And also they serve cheap alcohol disguised as the real thing. I know what jack Daniels grey good and patron tastes like, and what they serve is not that, I've heard this from a lot of different people as well so I know I'm not the only one. The drinks are disgusting.

I've been coming to this place for some months and it's all you can ask for in a pub with tvs a jukebox and an outdoor patio,,it's a grate spot to catch a game or have some drinks with friends they are legit,,the staff are amazing food is grate and fresh love it here ...

Had a great time for a birthday party. The Mango drink they make is absolutely amazing. Tacos were so good. Thanks for an amazing night.
