NYC’s Top Jewish Appetizing Spots - Eater NY

"This no-frills Kosher Gravesend shop serves up smoked fish on freshly-baked bagels at bargain prices for appetizing fare: it’s just $10 for a lox or sable sandwich. There’s also chopped liver, pickled herring, and various spreads and salads available at the counter-serve store. Note that Avenue P Appetizers & Bagels observes Shabbat, so it’s closed on Fridays and Saturdays." - Alexandra Ilyashov

Always fresh and extremely friendly. If you want a truly amazing experience, make sure to wait for the owner (male) to serve you because he knows how to add extra oomph to anything you order.

paid $25 for veggie rice rolls that fell apart and coffee that tasted so bad i couldn't finish it. owner is rude and over charges for everything. will definitely not be going back.

Great selection of breakfast food, salads and chips. Food is good, I just wish they would post prices on their wall menu for their customers. I got the pastrami Lox which had a nice smoky flavor, and was freshly fillet'd, but did contain a bone. The sandwich cost $10.50 which was an OK value. Bagels are fresh and good, and I like that they offered jalepeno. Just wish they toasted the bagels like I asked. I'm going to try the veggie burgers next.

The place is really nice and has a great selection to choose from, but this review is based on their actual bagels. The bagels themselves are not so fresh and when i asked them when the bagel was from, they said they don't make the bagels and they are ordered in. So instead of a fresh yummy hot soft bagel, I had a dryish stale one.

Absolutely terrible place! The food was disgusting I went there for lunch expecting a great experience but my food was terrible and when I said something about it the owner/ manager told me that I just didn’t know I would never go here again and I suggest that no one else go here.

Just ordered a avocado Panni WOW TOP OF THE LINE SANDWICH I asked for Caesar dressing and I did not expect it to be that awesome. The food was crazy good and the sauce was even better . Thank you 🙏

Paid $12 for a roll with egg salad. The price is ridiculous. The salad was tasteless and the roll was only avarage. Not going back for sure.

Yelp
I was doubtful I'd give a 5-star review when walking in - the line of pre-prepped food refrigerators competed with the bagel counter - but I'm pleasantly surprised. I ordered a bagel toasted with lox and cream cheese and it was perfectly prepared. I had a choice between sour and half-sour pickles, and their cole slaw was excellent as well. Service was slow, but maybe that's because genuine care was put into the order. It seems the lox is sliced to order, always a nice touch. There is a small seating area toward the back. And i likely won't purchase the prepared food from those refrigerators, but I suspect what is there is made with equal care. This is a bona fide good bagel place.
