I stumbled across this little place next to my job today. It’s an absolute hidden gem. As I am in love with coffee shops. Today I’m tried the cotton candy green tea iced. (Cute surprise right) 🥰 Let’s just say I’ll come to my office more just to come to this cute black owned business✨

Avenues Cafe in Philadelphia is a delightful spot that combines great food with a warm, inviting atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with friendly smiles and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. This charming café is perfect for a quick breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or just a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of joe. The menu offers a fantastic selection of options, catering to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. I highly recommend trying their avocado toast—it's perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. The breakfast sandwiches are also a hit, featuring fresh ingredients and delicious flavors that make for a satisfying meal. In addition to the food, Avenues Cafe boasts an impressive selection of specialty coffees and teas, making it a great place for coffee enthusiasts. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of seating, making it ideal for catching up with friends or getting some work done. What I love most about Avenues Cafe is the sense of community. The staff is genuinely friendly, and their passion for quality food and customer service shines through. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Avenues Cafe is a must-visit destination!

I went to get an iced chai , the gentlemen gave me a cup full of milk . I went back to tell him can you add more chai he said that was the last of it, if he knew there wasn’t enough to make a drink he should of never made it for me so I said fine make me a matcha , he gives me a mocha and to top it off I asked for a bagel with cream cheese he gave me a greasy bagel with Bareley cream cheese. I write the review because it’s expensive $7 for a chai .

Avenues is such a wonderful cafe! The second you walk in, the space feels warm and cozy. The employees are very kind and welcoming. The coffee is delicious (try the blueberry lavender iced latte!). The space is great for working, but there are also tons of board games as well as events. Truly a local Mt. Airy gem -- so glad I found this cafe :)

Love this coffee shop and so happy it exists in Mt. Airy. The staff is so nice and the atmosphere is cool and quiet. Love getting work done here with a cup of tea. They recently made some small renovations, which makes the place a little more spacious. They also offer more food now. However, my only con is that the food does not accommodate many dietary restrictions. Hopefully they will get there one day too!

This is our favorite coffee shop! The food and drinks are great. It’s such a cozy spot to hang out or work. My son loves it because there are games to play and books to look at. My daughter literally took her first steps here, which is probably more of a reflection of my coffee addiction than anything else lol. The owner Lee is so genuinely friendly and really puts his heart into every part of the business.

Edit: Since writing this review I’ve unfortunately had not one good food item from Avenues. I like going there to work but I won’t ever order anything other than maybe a tea from now on. It’s a shame. The ppl behind the counter are often not very pleasant as well. Disappointing for sure. Great place to get some work done. Mars makes excellent breakfast sandwiches and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my order. I’ve also tried their mocha, which was delicious. I look forward to returning many more times:)

Yelp
If you like board games and chill cafe vibes OR you need a place to do work, you should definitely visit this Black-owned game board cafe located in Mt. Airy! It's a really cute date spot where visitors can play board and card games while enjoying their coffee and sandwiches. We met the owner. They were super nice and welcoming. They checked in on us to see if we enjoyed the drinks and sandwiches. The food was good. We got the tomato spinach frittata bagel sandwich. So good. The frittata was juicy and bouncy. Bagel was toasted. I got one of their speciality coffees with cinnamon. If you like your coffee tasting like a gingerbread house you should definitely get this. I know I really enjoyed it!!

Yelp
I would give this place 5 stars just for the ambiance alone. It was really nice to sit in and read my book and scroll on my phone. There's also some outdoor seating for days with nice weather. Cool paintings to look at and they have board games to play, but I have to give it 4 stars just because the cold brew and danish were just okay. The danish probably wasn't super fresh and my coffee had some grounds in it, but I still ate it all and drank all my coffee, so can't complain too much!

Yelp
Just came back from my first trip to Avenues Cafe and it was a VIBE! The music was soulful, the Chai Tea was delicious, the service was quick and kind, and I even got to meet the owner (Juston) who was extremely kind and hilarious. Great Black & Queer Owned Spot!

Yelp
needed a place to study on a sunday morning- was busy before i got there but then settled down. i was immediately greeted by the owner who is so kind and patient with me when i didn't know what i wanted. the ambiance was perfect for studying, playing board games, etc. i ended up getting the tomato and spinach frittata and wanted a taste of home so i got the vietnamese iced coffee. needless to say i was not disappointed! the frittata was delicious and the vietnamese iced coffee tasted like if my mom had made it! i cant wait to come back!!

Yelp
A wonderful, relaxed cafe with great service in Mt Airy that I wandered up to while waiting for a train back to Center City. Great coffee and very tasty frittata breakfast sandwiches. I'll be back.
