Aviano Coffee is a vibrant Cherry Creek gem, serving top-notch specialty brews and pastries in a lively atmosphere featuring an inviting patio.
"Cherry Creek North’s caffeine staple, Aviano Coffee, has launched a second location at 215 St. Paul Street, with an updated look. Often found with a line out the door and snaking out to the street, the original Aviano is just a few blocks away at 244 Detroit Street. But co-owner Douglas Naiman hopes to expand the brand’s appeal to new clientele, eyeing the new hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, offices, and residences in the immediate vicinity. Calling this second 1,750-square-foot space “edgy” and “unconventional,” he and Saadia Naiman have bathed the interior in murals from Los Angeles-based mixed-media artist Hagop Belian, known for his totems that represent the merging of humans with their respective spirit animals. A 315-square-foot patio connects the interior space with the interior-exterior bar, comfortably hosting more than 30 people. Founded in 2006 by the Naimans and relocated to Cherry Creek North in 2010, Aviano’s second location will serve the same Intelligentsia coffees as on Detroit Street and eventually also feature its own menu of specialty beverages, including nitro cold brew, tea mocktails, signature matcha infusions, and recipes using Askinosie Chocolate. In addition to Aviano’s current French pastry offerings, the team is looking at options to include vegan and gluten-free snacks. As reported in September, the shop is expected to spawn as many as 60 locations around the state in the years to come following a major investment. Status: Aviano Coffee at 215 St. Paul Street is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily." - Gigi Sukin
"Often observed with a lengthy line wrapping around the block, modern cafe Aviano Coffee got a lot of buzz and a major vote of confidence this week with the announcement that a group of Denver investors acquired an undisclosed minority interest in the company and plans to dramatically expand the brand. A second Aviano location is already underway at 215 St. Paul Street, expected to open October 1. Next, Aviano could open as many as 50 to 60 locations throughout Denver, Boulder, Aspen, and out of state. Launched in 2006 on the ground floor of the Beauvallon Condos by Douglas and Saadia Naiman, the third-wave independent coffee shop relocated to Cherry Creek North in 2010. Standing behind a center-stage bar with surrounding stadium seating, fashion-forward baristas use manual brew methods and brands such as Intelligentsia Coffee, Kilogram Tea, and Ashkinosie Chocolate. Saadia Naiman says there are no current plans to enlarge the menu beyond the variety of daily breads and baked goods. The Naimans say they’ve known Matt Joblon of BMC Investments since 2010, and that the partnership has been in the works for more than a year and a half. The team is in the process of evaluating future locations, beginning with downtown Denver, aiming to re-create the service and environment of the 244 Detroit Street location and offer a higher quality alternative to pervasive big-box chains." - Gigi Sukin
