My stay at this hotel was truly luxurious. The room was spacious, with a king-size bed and a large bathroom featuring a rain shower and separate bathtub. The hotel boasts a beautiful indoor pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The spa offered excellent treatments, including massages and facials. The staff were professional and friendly, providing impeccable service from check-in to check-out. Dining at the on-site restaurant was a highlight, with exquisite dishes and an extensive wine list.

Google
Beautiful course, challenging holes. But, if you don't like slow play, then this is not the course for you. There were 4 groups stacked up on the tee, and the "player assistant" wouldn't do anything about the slow group. He actually said "You're just playing faster than them". No, they are playing slower than everyone!

I was here for a corporate retreat and played the course in a scramble and used the practice facilities on a separate day. The resort itself was great. The golf course was pretty disappointing if I am being candid. The greens were great, very challenging and in good if not great shape. The fairways were shockingly bad, in all fairness maybe its a seasonal thing but I would think southern CA like my home state of FL would maintain good conditions year round. Lots of invasive grass and weeds and a plethora of bald spots. Very hard to imagine an LPGA event being played here. I think the course would be a gem if in better shape, few weird holes but I don't mind that typically. Resort course layout makes it a course that is fun for all skill levels. Hope they recent punching of fairways helps fix the issues because if I had to pay north of $300 I would be very upset with the quality of the course.

Google
Played here for guys golf trip with three rounds and this course was rated 3rd considering price, conditions and memorability. Maderas and Steele crossing were better value. Green, resort and staffs were great.

Google
Just finished playing here and I will tell you the design of the course is fantastic. A lot of rememberable holes, flowers planted in the perfect spots, cool water falls as well. The course is challenging but fair. The conditions of the course were pretty bad. Greens were very nice but fairways were horrible. A lot of time you were hitting off dirt. We paid close to $350 a person and expected much more at that price point. If they can fix up the fairways I would recommend this course but at that current conditions I would not recommend paying what we paid.

Google
Aviara Golf Course, home of the LPGA Kia Classic and located next to the Park Hyatt, is beautifully maintained with large trees, small hazards, and well-kept landscaping. That said, it’s not an easy or playful course—it’s a tough challenge from start to finish.

Jason J.

Google
My wife and i had the best golf experience ever at this course. From the starter Joe to the amazing course, landscaping and service. Just a wonderful day.

Google
This place is a huge disappointment. The hype is ridiculous. Worth maybe $100 a round. $325 is robbery. Would not play there again if free. I thought Disneyland was in Anaheim. No Goofy golf lives at Aviara

Yelp
Over the course of 32 years I've played Avera numerous times and I've never been disappointed. This is one of the most beautiful courses in Southern California and San Diego county with every hole more delightful than the previous hall. The course is tough but fair and just love the undulations in the fairways in the waterfalls that are endless throughout the course. The golf shop team are very polite and pleasant and always accommodating. The sale rack is such a great bargain for shirts, hats, and knickknacks. If you really want to be a better golfer, then sign up for the Kip Puterbaigh golf score I did 32 years ago and I still play with those lessons that I learned from this master teacher. Can't wait to play Avera golf club again. Please forgive misspelling the name of the golf club... Laughing out loud.

Yelp
We love visiting the Aviara Park Hyatt Resort--whether it's for live music, appetizers, or a relaxing spa day, it's always a treat. On a recent visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Chris, a manager, and took the opportunity to compliment him on two outstanding team members--Amanda, our wonderful server, and Laura from housekeeping. Laura really stood out. Even though we weren't overnight guests, we've noticed her tending to the restroom areas during previous visits--always spotless, welcoming, and clearly cared for with pride. We learned she's been with the resort for 11 years, and it shows in the way she carries herself and her work. The staff here is consistently excellent--a clear reflection of great leadership. Thank you, Park Hyatt, for always making our time here feel so special!

Yelp
I retired and decided to take up golf and joined Aviera. That was one of the best decisions I've made. The pro shop staff, the starters, the grounds crew, the marshals, the snack bar gals, the bag drop crew. All of them are a special mix of success as a team and seamless performance making my time on property enjoyable every single minute. Steve, membership director sold me on the decision. He is genuine, honest and he was right! I pull up in my car and bam Kyle or Jamie or Oscar or Denise are there, clubs and cart ready to go with smiles and a welcome. On the Course cruising the bar cart, the wonderful Britney with the infectious smile and super attitude take care of the nutrition with a helpful friendly demeanor. She does make a difference. The course is fantastic the grounds are gorgeous. I see a lot of wildlife at Aviera every round that are native critters and birds. I can't say enough and I appreciate all the Folks Renny assembled that really make it Special. Thanks all. I almost forgot Gonzalo, an exceptional team player and the many others that make it outstanding.

Yelp
I must say that Aviara Golf Club is an excellent golf course with some pretty views and many challenging holes. Once again we teed off at an early 7 am but there were two groups of fast moving regular players (rabbits) ahead of us. This was fine as we were able to play at a fast pace and not have anyone in front of us. Since it was a cold morning, there was free hot coffee and a roaring fireplace as we waited for our turn. Not too bad for a pricey and discounted $250 green fee. One thing to note is take some putts on the practice green and you will not regret it. One thing is to trust your reads on each green. They may seem intimidating but are not. The fairways were in excellent condition and can be tight and many undulating mounds. Do use the GPS monitor on the carts as much as possible as there are some blind shots if your ball ends up between mounds. Bottom line is that the course is both challenging and fun to play. I would love a second chance to play it now that I am familiar with the course. As for parking, if you have an early tee time you can park close to the clubhouse, otherwise you could get stuck and have to u-turn your way out.

Yelp
Great experience. Pretty golf course, some really nice holes, some average. Very playable, greens a little tough to read, and some fairways a little tight, but rough is very playable compared to the evil rough at Torrey Pines. The bar restaurant is an awesome spot for a drink and bite after the round. Chris the barman was great, friendly and helpful. The rib eye steak was amazing. Super tasty and cooked well. Drinks are great too!

Yelp
Usual stuff. Play La Costa instead. Fairways are burnt, lots of broken infrastructure. Trees that used to be there are gone. All Kinds of seed being used and they are disorganized and overwhelmed it seems. Literally the ownership puts nothing into this place. Used to be a gem. For some reason the carts they have now have less going for them. They used to have the carts showing up on gps and the play was more predictable. Nothing now. Not sure why the change and the app is slow and unresponsive in two carts I have had. It's like someone made a poor choice and now everyone has to live with it for a few years. Unfortunate. Now better off playing public or La Costa for the ridiculous fees. And don't get me started about the clientele. Park Hyatt attracts the worst. Loved all of it so much better when it was a classy Four Seasons. Now it's a shadow of its former self despite that I am certain the staff wishes it were different and tries hard to make the best of it. No secret why KIA and the LPGA are done with it I guess? Who knows, maybe someday it can come back to its former relaxed and upscale glory. Take care and bidding a fond farewell.

Yelp
Typical S Cal course. Short and tight. Fairways are roasted. Greens not rolled. 10 different kinds of grass growing everywhere. Oside Muni cost $45, save yourself $300+. Definitely not worth the green fee. I like this place less every time I play it.

Aaron L.

Yelp
Brought a group of 12 people here on vacation, and that it was highly recommended, boy were we disappointed, worst course on the trip by far, save your money and golf arrowood, maderas, or anywhere else. Tee times are 8 minutes apart, caused for +5.5hour rounds, nothing but sitting around and waiting to finish a hole. Feel like we were bait and switched as I booked the tee times at $325, and everyone in our group was charged $374, something about being a group rate nonsense. The course was beat up and in pretty bad condition for that kind of cost, per the conversations with multiple groups sitting on the tee boxes, february is a terrible time to golf there, (the rest of the courses we played, Torrey, arrowood, maderas, temecula didnt have any of the issues and were in great shape)

Yelp
What a letdown. As an avid golfer, I was really looking forward to a round here, it was kind of on my bucket list of courses I wanted to play in California. I finally decided to play here January 30th 2025. I'll start by saying Ed in the pro shop and the starter Joe were nothing but class. They were very helpful and friendly. The course conditions were rough. I understand it's January, but the fairways and tee boxes were dried out and painted this strange blue/green algae color. For a course in this condition, $250-$350 a pop is joke. I would've been content to pay somewhere between $50-$100 mayyybee. Anyways, my group and I were still having a good time regardless of the conditions, because, after all, golf is supposed to be a leisure activity. We let a single play through on 7, I believe, to keep up the pace of play. Then, we had a group of two behind us that clearly had an issue with our pace of play. We were playing at a pretty reasonable pace I thought, nothing out of the ordinary. I play about 50 rounds a year, so I kind of have an idea of where we are at pace-wise. Long story short, the first Marshall asks us to pick it up, I go ok, no problem at all and tell my group we need to move it. He waits for us on the backside of the next hole and points us toward the next hole, I explain to him I have to go hit my ball that is short of the green. He is essentially blocking me from driving the cart in the way of my ball, so I jump out of the cart and walk to my ball. Ok, I get it, trying to keep it moving. But by blocking the cart path and having me walk down that way, it took longer. He follows us the entire next hole making sure we are on pace. We get a little distance from the group begins us and life is good again. Then, the second Marshall comes up to scold us saying there's a few open holes in front of us. We play the next hole and come up to the group in front of us. Not sure if lying is the best tactic there. He proceeds to follow us on the next two holes. I tugged one of my drives left, and under the watchful eye of the Marshall I went to look for it. I looked for it for about 10 seconds and just decided to not play the rest of hole, or the next, to speed it up. The whole thing was just obnoxious, please do better Aviara. I truly hope you figure it out and remember why we all play this game. The majority of us aren't pros trying to qualify for the tour, we are out there to have a good time with friends, family, etc.

Marilyn E.

Yelp
We enjoyed playing Aviara. The course was in good condition, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Kramer J.

Yelp
Not telling players 5 hrs is normal after you paid for 18 holes and couldn't finish. Marshals did nothing to speed up the slow group ahead of us Won't be back

Yelp
Awesome! From arrival to departure excellent customer service along with an incredible golf course. My daughter and son in law visiting from ATL and it was an early Christmas present. Bottom line my daughter said it best "...What an incredible experience." Definitely will be back for another round.

Yelp
If you're visiting SD and looking for a beautiful course to play at, you owe it to yourself to check out Aviara. It competes with La Costa next door, and having played both, I personally like this one better with regards to its views, slope rating, golf experience, and overall value.. Course is in Carlsbad which is about 45 mins North of the airport. Easy drive or to Uber to. The pro shop is fantastic overall, very attentive staff and very helpful. They also have locker access and storage on-site if your room happens to be not ready yet. They also have a premier selection of golf apparel and equipment inventory available from J.Lindeberg to T. Matthew's and Adidas.. We played the white/blue tees option which made it more interesting and fun to play, and make sure to listen to the starters advice for valuable insights on how to lessen your score and good course management tidbits. The shack on the turn had a great food and drink selection and the lady that day was great as well. They have drink carts roaming around frequently. Great course to check out, and highly recommended.

Yelp
As a San Diego, I've played everywhere but Aviara. It was finally time to pony up and make the drive up. Found a great tee time at 9:25AM for a discounted price of $215 normally $275. Jumped on it quick and was ready for a great time. When you pay $200+ for a round you're expecting Torrey Pines or SDCC conditions. When the marshall told me there would be tight lies out there I was expecting it to be a little rough but the entire fairway was unplayable. Every hole if you were lucky enough to hit the fairway you were searching for a small piece of grass with concrete below it. I was actually happier to be playing out of the rough because it at least had some grass. Charging $200+ for the way the course looks now should not be allowed. Greens were top 3 in SD. It's right up there with Torrey Pines and SDCC. The greens really saved the whole round. I did get my 1 round in there and would actually never go back for the price. $58 to walk Torrey would be the way to go here every single time. Overall glad to be out there but left with a bitter taste in my mouth. The facilities and crew working were 5* no doubt though.

Yelp
Overly difficult, not for the average golfer. Every par three is surrounded by hazard, there's water hazard on almost every hole. Every fairway is narrowly lined by rough before your ball is in totally unplayable wilderness or out of bounds. I appreciated the beauty of the course and numerous water features. Frankly, when you're shooting one of your worst scores ever, you don't care how pretty a course is. This was not an enjoyable outing for quite a pricey round of Golf.

Yelp
In San Diego? Wanna golf at one of Golfnow's 2012 best public golf courses in California? Look no further, this is the course you must go to. Really good guest services. Great staff. Great course!! this should be one of san Diego's best. Well designed course. Very playable. Can be punishing at times. Theres a few holes with blind tee shots. Par 3s here are awesome especially 3 &14. Fairways are mint and so are the greens. Nothing negative about the course. Greens are fast and if its your first time here it'll be hard to read and judge. Dont use your driver for #10. Plenty of holes with water in play to keep you on your toes. Tips: *Saw lots of birds. *Free wings with any green fees at the end of your round at the restaurant with your receipt. *Gives you free two bottles of water on the cart. *Gps system on the cart. Marshall comes around to provide free lollipops. *Book through golfnow to get a discount. *At the starter they provide apples and water. The apples Are juicy! When you finish your round at the starter table there's fresh baked super soft cookies. I highly recommend trying the apples and cookies. *Cart girl comes around twice in every nine holes. *restroom are located every few holes on the course. *locker rooms provide q-tips, cotton balls, hair spray, lotion, sun block, hair gel, combs, a scale, shower, etc. *they allow spectators and there's no additional charges for a spectator.

Yelp
Beautiful layout and very well kept course. First day back allowing carts from the Covid-19 lockdown. Everything was in accordance with social distancing. The guest Tee time is a little expensive, but it is a private course.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
The golf course is wonderful and I appreciate the beauty of this course. I also appreciate and understand that this is a very high end, expensive place to golf, which is why tee times are so expensive, and that's fine. However, I think they're taking advantage of the people too much. I was charged $80 for a dozen ProV1 golf balls. 80 DOLLARS!! I've played some of the finest resort and private country club courses in the country and I've never been gouged like that for golf balls. I've never been charged more than $60, and 95% of all places charge about $55. Like I said, I understand that this is an expensive place to golf and the property is phenomenal, but they're unethically nickel and dimming people.
google avatar

Precious M.

Yelp
Beautiful place and the food was phenomenal we were very impressed the server was extremely kind and caring
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
This has to be one of the nicest golf courses in San Diego, they keep the entire course as though there is a major PGA event about to be played. Plenty of challenging holes and nice water features to make you closely consider each stroke. The price is high to play but you get what you pay for. Will be back soon !!
google avatar

Doreen M.

Yelp
This place is GORGEOUS. I went to watch Round 1 of the Kia Classic this year. The place looks like a resort with tons of waterfalls. It is beautiful, like being in a national park. The service was great too. We ate food at the golf event and it's of course expensive. Water was $4, a sandwich was $8, chips/cookies of lunch size bag were $2 so it's like airport prices. Parking was $10 I think and if you had a Kia car parking was free. All the staff volunteers were offering us free cold bottled water, chatting us up, a great fun place to watch pro golfers play.
google avatar

Stuart M.

Yelp
Sorry for being late to post this. My son and his friends played Aviara about 6 weeks ago for a birthday. The pro shop warned us that a few holes were under construction. According to him, the construction wasn't bad and there would be a few temporary greens. They start you off on the back 9 where all the construction was happening. From my recollection you get to play about 3 or 4 holes and the rest are a complete mess. Temporary tee boxes, dug up grass, cut trees, heavy equipment, and temporary greens. They end you on the front which was in pretty good shape. I thought for sure the shop would offer us some type of voucher or discounted rate once the course is in more playable condition, but nothing. The guy mentioned that the kids already received a junior rate so nothing more could be done. I think it was $75 per player, which IMO was way too much. They are better off shutting the course down for a few months to get everything complete. Way too many better options out there for that price point.

Yelp
What a great course. Beautiful layout, beautiful setting, and great hospitality! After the round, the pro-shop has an amazing clubhouse with great food and drinks as well... Such a great time - can't find a better course in the area for the money.
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Such a great track! This course will run you $200+ but it is very well taken care of and a beautiful course. I've been lucky enough to play Pebble, Pinehurst, Spanish Bay, etc and this is equivalent with the customer attention and a well taken care of course. They have a nice driving range and putting green as well. Definitely a nice place to go and play with some good buddies! Great place to hang out afterwards for a drink or food. Enjoy the scenery and attention to detail at each hole. Have fun.
google avatar

Anthony K.

Yelp
TOP NOTCH!! Aviara Golf Course is one of my top 3 courses I have ever played!! Fairways like carpet manicured greens and just enough challenges to have it still be fun! Be prepared to pay for what it's worth because it's no bargain hunter type of course worth every single penny. We got here first and were one of the first groups out just amazing how beautiful it is in the morning! The morning dew, the smell the laughter of my buddies... It's what makes me thankful to be in the San Diego area! The courses is laid out beautifully didn't have a group behind us or in front of us the whole day! The service was on point I think before we even got out of our trucks there was already a gentleman there with the cart ready for us to embark on our day of fun! NO question if u love golf (and not just because you can win $money from !) this is the course to play! Hit em straight out there!
google avatar

Kathalyn N.

Yelp
This is definitely a 5 Star golfing experience. It's absolutely beautiful. The staff is so nice, the complimentary cookies and fruit are delicious, the drinks are strong, and the grounds are spectacular. It's expensive, but what a treat! The Golf Carts have GPS and they tell you exactly how far you are away from each hole! The locker rooms are fully stocked with everything you could ever need, and there's even a guy who drives around and hands out tootsie roll pops! It's on the lagoon, so it can get chilly! Bring something warm if you have an afternoon tee time, and since it's coastal, it can get breezy (the ONLY downfall).
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
This is by far in my top 3 courses i've played. It was worth the $250. The service was top notch from beginning to end. The tee boxes, fairways were excellent. Even with the drought conditions, the course was pristine. The sandboxes were soft. Wasnt white sugary sand, but still soft. The greens, however excellent was difficult. Undulations, pin placement on break lines, just cruel. Everything here was a spectacle to take in. Cannot believe my wife/cfo authorized the play. Scored +1 from my PR. So, play it slow and enjoy the view. We teed off second at 7:08 and finish at 10:40.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure to play this course and while a little hilly plays like a typical resort type of course. The customer service by all of their staff was first rate and the food in the restaurant was also excellent however; we did have to wait some for our food to come out, but again this part of a resort, so no one seemed to be in much of a hurry. A little pricey for what it was, since it wasn't a links course like Pelican Hill or Pebble Beach. Some pretty water holes though which sort of made up for it. Play was fast and there was very little waiting. All in all a very pleasant experience.
google avatar

Shelby H.

Yelp
Played this past Sunday - GCAT. If I could only pick one course to play for life ... this is it. Awesome greens - fast & smooth. Fairways are nicer than most course greens. Rough is short but penal - as it should be. Sand hazards were raked & actually sand you can blast out of. Every hole was beautiful to tee up & look at. Flowers. Waterfalls (ok - small ones). Wildlife around. Heavily treed. Clubhouse is huge. Nice bar. Chocolate chip cookies after the round. This rivals Pelican Hill & Monarch Beach course's. A must play.

Scott M.

Yelp
The golf course is currently going through a transition. They are moving from fescue in the roughs and around the greens to a more sustainable bermuda type grass. Yet, they are still charging $290 / round for each player. Two holes are completely closed and Aviara has transitioned two par fives into a temp par 4 / par 3 combo - so there is still 18 holes. But this is not a good value at all. The holes which still have fescue are in really rough shape outside the fairways and around the greens. Some day it will be back to that kind of value, but not now or any time in 2022.
google avatar

RJ P.

Yelp
This place is a shadow of what it used to be. Paid $235 per green fee and the service was horrible. You'd think at that price they'd make you feel appreciated. Messed up our tee time, blamed it on the "new guy", and finally got us out 30 minutes past my reservation time. Really disappointing given how great the course is. Another great feature that we didn't experience is the Marshall handing out Tootsie Pops. While a simple thing it's always appreciated This time we never saw the Marshall the entire round. These types of things never happened when it was managed by the Four Seasons. Having played the course 50 + times in the past few years I'll seriously have to think about returning anytime soon.

Yelp
Aviara was rude to me when I played there with the Golf Channel Tour earlier this year. It was apparent to me that they really do not appreciate the Golf Channel Tour or its players. I arrived 45 minuites prior to my round with plenty of time to relax and practice but my golf cart was missing and another player with the same First name as my Last name was 1 group in front of my group and had possibly taken my cart. I asked several Cart guys to please get me another cart and they all refused and only offered to give me a ride to the range to look for my cart. They then left me there to sweat it out and shuttled several groups of players back and forth. With only 5 minuites to spare before my Tee Time I was finally able to capture the cart guy and ask what I was supposed to do as my cart was still not found. They said get in I will take you to the tee. Passing up the Cart zone the cart with the other players name on it was still there so at that point it was obvious he had taken my cart. So then, Finally now that I was late for my tee time he said, " He must have taken your cart so you can use his!" But by then I was completely frazzled and had the worst round of my life on a course I had paid a premium to play and had been very excited to finally play. After the round I told the Cart guys; " What they did to me showed no respect and ruined my golf experience and I would never play Aviara again." Years before I had bid $500 at a Charity Auction for the Boys and Girls Club of America Charity dinner for a 1 night stay and Dinner at "Vivache the Restaurant at the time. I was thrilled to take my wife there and donate to the charity and we stayed on a night when Mindy Abair the Female Saxaphonist had a concert so that made it even more special. But our schedule was too full so we never got to play the course. I was Finally going to play this course where the Famed LPGA Kia Classic is played and I had probably the worst golfing experience of my entire life. I would have gone and complained to the Director of Golf there except A. They obviously don't care about the Golf Channel Tour or its players and B. I did not want to embarrass that same tour by whining about the travesty that had happened to me. No, Thank you Brenda, but I fear that the same experience would await me and I can't get this bad experience out of my head. I have no desire to play Aviara. Sincerely, Craig P. Martin

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Iv been a few times now and have had a chance to learn the course a little better. Absolutely beautiful course. You almost don't feel like your in California sometimes. The staff is incredible and professional. I love these guys. They treat everyone really well. The course is very well maintained. The greens and fairways are all on point and you would never think California was in a drought from the looks going on here. And I love that they give you cookies at the end of the round. My favorite part!
google avatar

Lance H.

Yelp
This golf course is beautiful and has one of the toughest holes in San Diego! My favorite hole is their signature 18th hole. Everyone at the golf club are professional and kind. The Argyle restaurant there is very good and the bar food is good.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
This challenging course is a beautiful botanical garden with a golf course on it. The course is the most beautiful one one which I have had the privilege to play. The greens were firm, fast, and in great condition. The clubhouse has great restaurants. The service for the golf club and restaurants was great. It's expensive but reasonable for a top-notch course at a resort. Highly recommended.

Yelp
AI'm actually between 4-and 5-stars with this review, but what tips it over the fence is the service. I'm reading a few reviews complaining about the service but I had ZERO complaints about it...as a matter of fact, the service and attention by the staff is what made it so important to me that I write this review. Maybe the service used to be bad and those complaints are what made it turn around, in which case, the negative reviews accomplished what they should have accomplished...I don't know...all I can speak to is how MY experience was, and again, it was top-notch. I got to play here at a huge discount due to having volunteered at the Kia Classic ($50 "cart fee" is what I paid and my friends each paid $135 with a coupon from the tournament guide that's given at the Kia). Some resorts or high-end courses might treat an "outsider" like myself who is playing almost for free differently or with less attention, as if you're lucky to set foot in their establishment...definitely NOT the case at Aviara. I disclosed when I called to make my reservation that I would be using the voucher, and I don't know if I expected that to be a "oh, this guy is practically playing for free" attitude changer, but from the onset, we were treated with nothing but respect and gratitude for visiting and playing. At least, that's the impression I felt. I, unfortunately, only remember one name...Cesar in the pro shop. Very respectful and polite and made me feel as welcome as if I were a member...actually, not just Cesar, but I can say the same for ALL the staff I encountered, from the guy who met us in the parking lot to take our bags, to the pro shop staff, to the starter, to the ambassador (or marshal) passing out Tootsie Pops, to the beverage cart girl, to the staff members who cleaned our clubs and gave us wet towels after the round, to the gentleman doing the tedious yet meticulous job folding and rolling more towels outside the locker room, to the bar and restaurant staff who gave us the attention and service every visitor should hope for. Get the picture? This place is pretty awesome...and I'm already registered to work the next Kia Classic, which means I get to experience this all over again! Oh, and the course is amazing and beautiful, too...by the way ;)... And did I mention that the carts have USB ports?!

Yelp
Fantastic golf course and great service make Aviara a must play course for anyone in Southern CA. Great practice facility and even a golf school if you want a lesson. The Arnold Palmer course is top notch. We go every year and can't wait for our next visit. Go play!

Yelp
An excerpt from my Food and Travel blog: This course is about a 4.5 star affair... HOLE 1 -- The lagoon is on the left which adds some visual splendor and delightful cool breezes. This Arnold Palmer designed course has lots of little hills and mounds. The par 3's at Aviara feature exceptional landscaping and water as their signature features. On day two we finally learned our lesson by targeting many of our approach shots to end up below the hole instead of above it. In essence, the downhill putts here are nasty. Regrettably my camera was in the cart and by the time I retrieved it momma had baby in hiding. This was our first bobcat sighting in the wild. "Here kitty, kitty"... HOLE 5 -- With a green located up a steep incline and sloping downhill with speed this hole was NOT easy. The cool breezes disappear as you move to holes away from the lagoon. HOLE 6 -- Another par 3 and I strongly recommend you don't pull a "dirty HOOKer" as the street is on the LEFT. I "may" have done so with my hybrid "miss" tendency being a hook. Fortunately no metal, glass or squealing tire related noises were heard as my 50 cent Top Flite golf ball went "bye bye". Uneven lies are pretty common on this course as there aren't any truly flat holes. In that sense it is similar to Black Gold in Yorba Linda. HOLE 8 -- Another pretty approach shot. Both days we avoided "hero ball" and hit our balls just shy of the pond straight ahead. I was able to par the hole on day one as a result. We're about half way in and we can tell this will be a challenging course for us. These par 3's are really something to see and play. Even if you don't play golf you'll enjoy the landscaping and grounds here. HOLE 16 -- A very nice looking approach shot. When we attended the Kia Classic ladie's tournament we sat on bleachers and observed many golfers come and go at this green. HOLE 18 -- The prettiest hole yet with the lagoon on the left and the pond on the right.

Yelp
Nice course but not worth the cost - $265 given the length of time for a round. Waited every hole. Round was 4:55 - included passed a few groups. Some hackers who play slow and didn't allow us through. Marshalls not very good in keeping pace of play. Played Torrey Pines and Grande Del Mar prior. Grande Del Mar better course and Torrey a struggle because of the wait. Played on Friday early afternoon.

Yelp
Great golf course, possibly the most beautiful I've played, very colorful, flowers everywhere. Course was in great shape and player friendly. Pleasure to play! Staff at the golf course was friendly and happy. Loved the veranda overlooking the course and waterway. Hotel provides top quality amenities and service, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Yelp
My wife and I played here yesterday. The golf course is beautiful, extremely well maintained, and challenging but fair. The GPS on the golf carts is the best we've ever seen. The flyover option is phenomenal. The staff was the best we've encountered on any resort course we've played. Marcus and the rest of the pro shop staff couldn't have been nicer to us. Joe the starter was very friendly and went over the course and GPS in great detail which made our round more enjoyable. The chocolate chip cookies were a nice touch. We are looking forward to playing again next year on annual SoCal ca

Yelp
Beautiful course in pristine condition. Price is a bit high but if you are not from the area (i.e. no local rates) then you pretty much pay the same price (Torrey, Madera, Pelican Hills). If you stay at Park Hyatt Hotel then the driving range is free of charge. Overall, you get what you paid for.

Yelp
Stunning scenery, amazing helpful staff. If you're planning to take a little Stay-Cation or planning to treat yourself to a special day on the greens, you've got to check this 18 hole/72 par course out. Twilight or Mid-day is the best rates. The set up is beautiful, the carts in great condition (and stocked with all the extras: tees, water, towels, GPS) the staff is quick to help, This actually feels like a private country club as other yelpers have said but nope! It's open to the public. The locker rooms are pristine and have anything you could want, there is a steakhouse on site: Delish! and snacks offered upon arrival. A round here is going to be one of the most comfortable pampered games you've ever played. It's really like a golf spa in some ways. One of the coolest things available is the TaylorMade Performance Lab. It's a pretty penny, but if your serious about getting custom clubs, its a must. I had a tour recently and the technology was fascinating. This kind of thing used to only be available to PGA members, but now? Anyone who wants to can set up a two hour appointment and get super more obsessed about their swing than ever, haha. Make sure you get there early to use the driving range & perfectly conditioned putting greens. It's an awesome multi level set up. If you book a tee time here and need a girl to drink and drive your cart for you while texting? I'm your girl ;)

Yelp
Played here for the first (and last time today). Let me begin by saying the course is absolutely beautiful, and is in great shape. The 1 out of 5 is 100% for customer service (If I could have given a negative score, I would have). We had a foursome, and were having a great time, playing a very enjoyable round. For some reason, the player's assistant came up to us on the 11th hole and chastised us for playing too slow. Our foursome finished the round in 4 hours and 31 minutes (and we had a 75 and 61 year old in our group). I think that's a pretty reasonable pace of play. Unfortunately, because of the player's assistant acting like a total jerk, we felt rushed the rest of the way, and made it totally impossible to enjoy the round. I paid $600 for the foursome (a discounted rate due to an underpar coupon), and for that kind of money, I expect the people at the course to treat us better than they did. I don't think that's asking too much. We normally don't play expensive resort courses like Aviara, and did it today as a special treat. Sadly, our treat turned into a very upsetting and disappointing day. I definitely will not be paying for another round at Aviara golf club - and I would recommend too everyone else to choose another course. There are a ton of great courses in the San Diego county region - and very few treat you as poorly as the people treated us at Aviara today.

Yelp
I was debating whether to try The Crossings or Aviara as my 1-day golf outing in Carlsbad, and the reviews about this place were so great that I just had to give it a try. The strange part to me was that Aviara is more expensive than my bucket-list course of Bali Hai in Vegas. And having played 1 round, all I have to say is this: if you love golf you should play here. Even if you just do it 1 time. There are thoughtful touches everywhere you look. You know that awkward moment when 3 guys are standing on the first tee, and you say, "Got room for 1 more person? The starter told me to join you." No no no. There is a person managing all of the groupings, and he makes sure that you personally get to meet everyone in your group, introducing them as "Mr. so-and-so." How polite is that? The golf carts have GPS & a scorecard, and this is the first time I've seen a USB port for charging your cell phone. Bring your USB cord! Mine was in the car. Ran into the girl with the refreshment cart several times. Lollipops are handed out on the course. Practice range balls are included in your fee, but it's a grass range & the grass was pretty chewed up, so I hit about 10 balls & left. Two bottles of water are in your cooler, which is full of ice. Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies as you come off of the 18th green. The golf: I played from the whites, and it was plenty challenging for me. The greens here are fast. Way faster than my home course in LA. There is water on lots of holes with forced carry on a few par 3s, and you gotta keep in the middle because the brush is thick if you miss right or left. There's also a few holes with hard doglegs to the right or left, so if you're worried about driver running thru the fairway, club down a little. I hit 5 wood off the tee on a few holes, and it was the right play for me. There is one par 5 with a decision to make on the approach, because there is water guarding the front & you have to carry 240 from the fairway, or lay up to a comfortable distance. The final hole is tough. You can find the water on your 1st shot OR your 2nd shot. This golf course has some teeth to it, and that's good because you don't wanna spend a bunch of $$ & walk away saying, "Dang that course is too easy." I gotta say that in a lot of ways, this felt like spending a day at Harvard. You know how Harvard has a self-selecting pool of applicants? (The only way to be taken seriously is to have a 4.0 GPA, awesome SATs, and a million activities.) Because Aviara is priced the way that it's priced, only golfers with good ability & nice manners even bother to show up. But, what an experience you get, and what a golf course. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Aviara is an excellent golfing experience. Service staff was very friendly and helpful. From the time we parked our car, they came to us and picked up and loaded our bags. The pro shop folks were friendly and cheerful. The course was in great shape. Green grass everywhere, nice looking ponds, greens well taken care of. The undulations in both the fairways and greens really make Aviara a special and unique course. We took advantage of the twilight rate which, while still pricey, was totally worth it.

Yelp
Absolutely worth every penny!!! Top notch service from the moment you park your car. The driving range is beautiful and is fully stocked with towels, bamboo tees, water... you name it. Fruit and cookies greet you as the starter preps you for the course ahead. The course is absolutely gorgeous and you can tell that they take a lot of time and effort to maintain the course conditions. GPS on the carts was great and showed all of the features of each hole. The restaurant, The Argyle, is awesome too....

Yelp
Absolutely amazing course and experience from start to finish. Incredible service, starter (thanks Joe!), and amenities (chocolate chip cookies!). The course is in impeccable shape, well designed, tough but rewarding. Great clientele as well. Definitely pricey but well worth it!

Yelp
I've had a chance to play all of the prominent public courses in the San Diego area and Aviara ranks, in my opinion, at the top. Superb course conditioning, an interesting and challenging layout and top-notch customer service. Plus it is extremely attractive I don't think any course is worth more than $200/round. But suck it up and play Aviara. You won't be sorry.
