Avila's El Ranchito - Huntington Park

I ordered the chicken soup that was supposed to have chicken in it and there was more rice than any protein in the soup bowl and 20 plus dollars for tbe bowl of soup I was so disappointed and they were so quick to charge my card for payment and after I complained to the server she said the manager said they need to out a certain amount 😅 in the damn bowl I ordered and the manager was told about my complaint but didn't even acknowledged me or cared about my concern. I will never show up at this place ever after that type of service so if you read this show better customer service as to a a paying customer 😒 and better manager skills that manager clearly had no class or showed it .

Everything was great. We had a party of 6 and there was no wait time when we went in around 2pm. The place was clean and spacious. Service was nice, quick, and friendly. The food was all great Everything was portioned well. Our only complaint was the Shrimp Cocktail, it was the only plate out of 6 that was very sad looking, lacking flavor, and relatively small compared to the rest of the dishes. Other than that everything was perfect! Pictured is the Camerones y carne asada, Menudo, Filete de Pescado, Steak Fajitas, & the sad Shrimp Cocktail.

I had a fantastic meal here and could not be happier with the experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with flavors that really stood out and portions that were generous without being overwhelming. The staff worked seamlessly to make sure we had a stress free visit, always checking in at the right times. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, creating the perfect balance between energy and relaxation. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything we ordered was a hit. I cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

We’re visiting Huntington Park from Arizona and couldn’t pass up the chance to stop by one of our favorite spots, Avila’s El Ranchito. As always, the food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding! What really stood out this time was the seamless coordination among the staff. You can tell they have well-honed systems in place to deliver top-notch service efficiently. It’s rare to see a team work so smoothly together, and it made our experience even better. Thank you for consistently providing an excellent dining experience!

Decent menu, food is always good, fresh, and tasteful. Pricing gets $$$ out of 5. It's not the cheapest but well worth every dime. I enjoy the homemade tortillas, Avilas chicken soup, crispy tacos (shredded beef), and the traditional flan. For the most part the staff is very friendly and attentive. Parking can be a little tight during the busy hours, but that's not a reason to not come back and visit again with the family and / or friends. Definitely will return.

Went on a Sunday and feared it be a long wait however it wasn’t everybody was being seated promptly. We had chips and salsa on our table and I ordered the Horchata. It was delicious and as an entrée I had from the lite menu the grilled chicken breast with a salad beans and a special sauce. It was so delicious and they bring you freshly made corn or flour tortillas so I made myself some tacos And ask for some guacamole. GREAT EXPERIENCE

I had a wonderful dining experience I went tin Saturday , thanks to the incredible service from my server, Christine. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal without being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious . 👍

While visiting LA on a Saturday, we did a Google search of local restaurants and found this place. Apparently they've been around for decades. The location is on a corner and has plenty of parking behind the building itself. The place is very inviting, and the service was great from the moment we walked in. They bring you chips and salsa right away, which is customary at most Mexican restaurants. The chips tasted great and the salsa was good, but I will admit, it was a little bit spicier than it should've been. And that being said from someone who likes it hot. The choices in the menu are plenty, and the waitress was very helpful with any questions we had, especially this being our first visit. My burrito was called the Azteca, which has Chile Verde pork in it. It did however contain a little bit more tomatoes and actual slices of poblano chiles in it than I would like, but overall it was pretty good. My lady ordered the menudo and she said it was delicious. Overall I really liked this place, and although I don't visit Los Angeles very much, next time I come to this area, I will more than likely come back to this place to try out new things.

Had such a wonderful experience here. Really enjoyed the ambiance. Should ask for Dalia next you come she has the best outstanding customer service. Love it here. Food and drinks are amazing.

Stop the car and eat here at Avila's‼ The food here is absolutely wonderful and authentic Mexican cuisine. The menu has a large variety of entrees and they also serve desayuno (breakfast!). Chili verde, enchiladas, tamal, Chili rellenos, and salmon were ordered and everyone enjoyed their meal immensely. The staff that took care of us and treated us like honored family-- although it was the first time having the pleasure to dine here. Avila's makes their own tortillas, too! So, don't delay coming here when you want delicious meals and lovely people. The atmosphere is very nice, too.

Found this place on Yelp on Friday night, we came to have dinner and the food was so delicious that I had to come back the next day to pick up the to go order. We found the place and although there was a lot of traffic around there they had a very nice spacious parking lot and we were able to find parking quickly. Walking inside and I just love the way this place looks and feels. It's authentic cozy and you just instantly feel at home. We were quickly greeted and seated upon arrival. The staff here is super nice and friendly, informative and seem generally happy to be there. My husband had the carne asada plate and I had the carne asada with shrimp and I got the garlic shrimp. When we got to our table we were greeted with delicious warm chips and red salsa. The food was so amazing the shrimps were succulent juicy full of flavor, the meat was grilled to perfection, the beans were so good and cheesy, the rice was fluffy and perfect, it came with guacamole which was delicious and also homemade tortillas that a woman is actually standing at the front of the restaurant making which was really awesome. I had looked up the history of this place coming here and found that it is the oldest restaurant in Huntington Park. I asked Amanda and she confirmed and told us that she has been working there since the 80s. Wow that was amazing. After finishing our meal one of the owners came by and greeted us and told us about the history of the restaurant and we shared some anecdotal stories. She told us about her family and their passion for this restaurant how it started and we loved hearing every word of it. The passion that they have for this place really shows in the food. The next morning I woke up still thinking about them and I called in an order and picked up some costillas in red salsa and Oh my God they were so delicious. Everything was delicious my husband had the Taco plate and he thoroughly enjoyed his food just like he did the day before. I don't live that close to this place but I will definitely be coming here more often. I couldn't have been happier with everything the food the service the people. You can definitely tell why this place has been here for so long and been so successful. A true gem in the city of Huntington Park

Pretty authentic mexican food. The vibes are nice in there. You always get greeted at the door And the hosts leads u to a table. Everyone is welcoming. I like that they play real traditional mexican music not generic circus music.

First time here and my goodness food was DELICIOUS!!!! From the friendly wait staff to the relaxing music in the background, everything was amazing. Food came out quick and portions are HUGE!!! We ordered the carne asada plate and the two handmade tortilla tacos platter and both were so good!!! Meat was juicy, rice was flavorful and fluffy, and the beans (my god) were all delirious!!! Favorite part though was the handmade tortilla. If you're in the area, a MUST try!!! Next time we're bringing the hubs and kiddos!!

That is the best carne asada I've ever had and it's a ribeye. This place doesn't miss. Service is excellent as well.

The meat is not pretty good nor the fried tacos. They were very dry. The bean were week old. It's better to eat at home.

From the beginning to the end, the staff goes up and above! Salvador greeted us with such kindness and then we had Betty as our server and she just blew us away with her kindness and attentiveness. Her authenticity shined through! The food was delicious and we were thoroughly impressed with our experience! Ten stars plus!

I went for breakfast with my family, as soon as we walked in we we're greeted nicely and escorted to our table, we had our waitress "Delia" was very attentive and checking if all was ok. we also had a gentleman who would serve chips and kindly refill chips while we waited for our meals. what i like about the restaurant you can have banquets or family gather they can accommodate you. the inside is like being in mexico music and the homemade tortillas awesome. I recommend this Restaurant i had green chili burrito combination yummy. Thank you to the family Avilas

Never been here although I was told about it; so I had to try it for my self. The service was top notch and the food was authentic. This place has been around for quite some time and it shows from service, to the food. The ambience is fair, considering the length of time it's been around. I have to go back and try other dishes. Everyone there is very hospitable & polite. Rare for current times.

Was here Sunday, July 27th for breakfast. I live in the IE, I was in town near the HP location.. the staff was very welcoming but, Amanda is an amazing waitress! She's so attentive and sweet, service was fast, she made sure we were taken care of with refills, tortillas, chips, salsa. She was AMAZING. Menudo and pozole were delicious. Shout out to Amanda for doing an amazing job!

This is my 2nd time eating here. The first time was good, and my 2nd time was amazing! Had the chicken enchiladas combo. The enchiladas were so tender & flavorful. Rice was great. Service was outstanding. The A/C was blowing on this nearly 100' day. They have a private parking lot, but I found parking right by the front door. I will definitely be returning soon & recommending Avila's El Ranchito to everyone I know.

The chicken mole was out of this world delicious! The service was wonderful as our waitress was attentive to our needs. When you walk into Avila's, you feel like you are walking into a beautiful Mexican restaurant in Mexico!

Our server Delia was amazing very attentive and friendly including all the other staff we never had to look for assistance food was amazing i would definitely recommend everyone to try out this place it was a 10/10 for me I will definitely me coming back i would come all the way back from dallas texas just for this amazing place! I recommend the Mayan burrito!! The environment was definitely the cherry on too ambience was amazing!

I wasn't even planning on coming to my old stomping grounds, but life had other plans for me, and I'm so glad to have arrived back home in HP. Growing up as a kid, this was always one of the spots everyone's parents took the family for an authentic Mexican meal. They make fresh homemade tortillas with pride, walk in and you'll see the ladies hard at work forming the tortillas by hand, and making them on the grill to perfection! We ordered Caldo due to the cold windy weather... man it hits the spot! I had albondiga soup, and my friend had the Caldo de Pollo! Mmm so savory, lots of flavor to warm the soul. Service was outstanding, I love the attentiveness, my glass was always full, my friends coffee was filled up a couple of times. Lots of space for big parties, family fiestas or a night out with your friends or significant other. I wasn't even supposed to be in HP but fate and circumstances had other plans for me. I highly recommend coming in for some drinks, lunch or dinner. Cash or CC happily accepted, plenty of parking on the side of the structure.

Hubby and I fell in love with Avila's from the very first visit and decided to come back the following weekend on January 4th to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted at the door and seated at a booth that catered to the fact that we were going to be taking pictures. Daleth was so patient and perfectly attentive to us until it was hard for her to introduce us to our waiter that was going to take over named Cynthia. We were sitting in Cynthia's area but they were both so attentive until you couldn't tell. The waiters at this restaurant can spoil you. They definitely would cause you to return. They did everything they could (down to taking pictures of us upon request) to make this day so special for my hubby and I. I'm so happy that we decided to celebrate our anniversary here. A family member of ours came along to celebrate it with us and he was very pleased at the service, the food and the sports that was playing on the big screens. He said that he's definitely going to return with his buddies and give the restaurant another visit. Him and my husband went with the pescado plate that came with garlic sauce on it, along with beans and rice a substitute sides. I went with the carne asada burrito along with beans and rice. We enjoyed a couple of drinks beforehand. Our family member went with a Cadillac margarita made with Don Julio Blanco, the hubby had a strawberry margarita on the rocks and I wanted to try a pina colada for the first time. We all enjoyed our drinks so much we went for a second round with an extra shot on the side for myself. We had a very good time. We were congratulated, treated very special and our day was even acknowledged with a nice sized piece of the most moist carrot cake to be shared and enjoyed. I forgot to mention in my first review that they also offer Uber/Door Dash pick up as well. What a night. I'll say it again...I'll definitely be back and I mean it!!!

The food was delicious. One of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. Our food was on point, our waitress Delia was very tentative, and friendly. The owner came out and introduced herself, and gave us a brief history of the restaurant and family, made us feel at home. Thank you Avila's for the great food and friendliness. Will definitely come here again and bring other family members.

1,001 reviews and 4 1/2 stars? Overrated! The service was very good. Their handmade tortillas were excellent but it ended there. I had their Mojarra al Mojo de Ajo. A deep fried fish covered in a garlic sauce that overpowered the fish.. Almost as if they were trying to tone down the garlic, Avila's fish sat on a bed plain tasting french fries and an even more ordinary side of salad. The best word to Avila is ordinary. Next time? There are an endless number of sidewalk taco vendors within blocks of Avila. That is where I will go next time I'm in the area.

What can I say but amazing never anything less. Iris was our waitress today and she was absolutely fantastic. Food ESPECTACULAR like always. Menudo on a Saturday morning, yummm... And my little one loving the shrimp cocktail with extra avocado on the side to add later. The homemade tortillas my favorite, delicious. Like always beautiful atmosphere and amazing staff.

Service was A1, Top Tier. Everyone was friendly, attentive and the meals came out fast. It was a cute little Mexican restaurant on the corner, it has its own parking area and cute decor inside. Felt very homey and a place to enjoy some quality time. My coworker and I wanted to grab a bite and a drink after work and I came across this place. There were other Mexican restaurants that we could've chosen, but I chose this place in particular because it just looked very authentic and homemade as opposed to other places that looked just like an Instagram photo op. Super satisfied with my decision the Chile Verde plate was the shiznit, bomb.com, 10/10 recommend. That was super good. My coworker ordered the enchiladas and she also cleaned her plate. She said the Michi could've had a bit more flavor, I'm not exactly too sure how they're supposed to taste because I don't like them, but my piña colada was bomb! If you are in the area I definitely recommend stopping by!

1 Star I used to love this place and came here for years--it was always one of my go-to spots. I even drove in from Big Bear recently just to eat here, and I seriously regret it. The quality has gone way downhill. The meat was chewy, tasted awful, and was clearly low-grade. Nothing like what they used to serve. I brought it up to the manager, thinking they'd at least show some concern or offer to make it right--but he did absolutely nothing. No refund, no discount, not even an apology. To make things worse, the parking lot was dirty, with trash scattered around. There were open meat boxes outside, and based on the labels, they weren't even using USDA Choice meat--just some of the lowest quality available. It's honestly sad to see a place I once loved fall this far. I won't be coming back.

Worst experience - husband choking on a large piece of bay leaf in chile verde burrito. It was a very scary moment. We shared with the manager and he had little reaction. We aren't looking for free meal but a bit more compassion and professionalism would be nice. This was our first time here not sure if there will be a second. Food is ok here so don't expect too much.

We're Mexican but his Spanish isn't that great. Delia walked him through and was happy with the chile verde plate he ordered. From breakfast to lunch to brunch our family orders a variety of meals even my little one got his usual burger and fries. as always in a packed house the staff always is very tentative and takes care of everybody. A happy place with happy full patrons. I love Avila's a tradition my parents started way back when and now I as a grandpa can continue. Family oriented and friendly. Takeout Experience : Great Friendly Fast Fresh Yummy Ahora for the chisme: I was in the area looking for breakfast and I came across this authentic Mexican food looking restaurant.. after looking at pictures & reviews I decided to give it a try. The menudo caught my eye , not many places can make it hot & flavorful.i also ordered albóndigas, had been craving the red caldo kind. Not only was the packaging well put together but pretty and didn't lack anything. I mean it had the condiments to add to both soups (generous lemon wedges , onion/cilantro, tortillas, utensils , napkins , salsas ) , chips & just enough ! I annoyingly ordered right when they opened & the menudo tasted so fresh unlike other food chains that reheat whatever didn't sell the day before. I believe it was a great portion of the menudo including the meat. Walking into the restaurant it's in the corner entrance. I was greeted by a young gentleman who guided me to the pick up order register. The woman behind was beyond presentable ( she cared ) and attentive. Everyone was beyond kind , Customer service is exceptional. I'd for sure come again

Love this place! I cannot believe I have not been here before. Such a beautiful ambiance, it makes you feel like you're right at home. The food was a huge 10/10, unbelievable!!I had the carne asada plate and it was made to perfection! The tortillas are hand made and are the best combination! You have to try the camarones al mojo del ajo... must try if possible make sure to ask for Monica. I can't stress it enough, she went beyond with her amazing service!! Service like this is now hard to find. The manager Jaque even took time to ask how we were doing and gave us a bit of history on the restaurant. I've been coming to Avila's for years and finally decided to use their catering services for my daughter's 8th birthday party. The food was delicious! I ordered chicken and steak fajita dinners for 20 people, that came with rice, beans, salsa and tons of chips, as well as their party platter. The platter was devoured by my guests and the food was more than enough for everyone. I even had left overs to share and have the next day. Jackie, the manager was helpful with my order and final decisions on what to buy. Also, their containers kept my food nice and warm. I will continue to return here and love the quality at Avila's in Huntington Park:)

I've been debating whether to make this review. I don't even have an account but I'll use my husband's. I've been a customer of this place for over 10 years and last night I got the worst experience of any restaurant. I was speaking to the guy in front about a dish I wasn't happy about and the server decided to interfere telling me "I should have mentioned to her". First, I wasn't talking to her, second, I would've mentioned but she never actually stopped by, she would walk by. I always had great service by the regular servers but this girl needs to be trained. Confronting the customers in front of everyone is very unprofessional.

My wife and I always come to El Ranchito to have a good meal by ourselves or with friends and share the experience we have come to El Ranchito. The food is really amazing full-on flavor in every plate they make at the restaurant especially their fresh hand made flour and corn tortillas they so good nice and warm. The service is pretty amazing thevl staff are very friendly and warm. Stepping in the restaurant you fell like you are in Mexico. Over we enjoy the food and service at the restaurant.

I have been a patron of Avilas since the 80s. I'm posting a picture of some friends and I celebrating after graduation services in 1980. The food, the service and the ambience have continued to please for decades.

Esta es la 3 vez que vengo la primera me recomendaron el caldo de pollo que segun es lo mas delicioso y la verdad no tiene sabor al igual que el pozole, la segunda pedi desayuno esta bien y el menudo para mi mamà estuvo delicioso, hoy pedi caldo de res para intentar de nuevo sus caldo y decepción sin sabor y el agua de tamarindo igual pura azúcar y no tiene sabor, regresaria solo por que a mi mamá le gusto el menudo y yo pedire huevos, el cocinero nesecita probar su comida antes de terminar de cocinarla me da la percepción de solo hacen sin probar y darle sabor a la comida y está caro

This place is a MUST VISIT! We were driving back home looking for a place to eat and stumbled across this Mexican spot. As soon as we came in we were greeted with a warm welcome and our server Monica came up promptly and made sure we were taken care of. Taken care of we definitely were, she didn't miss a beat and is probably one of the best servers I've had in a while. Can't find them like her anymore. The manager Jaque came by and greeted us since it was our first time here and we started chatting about the history of this restaurant. Thank you for the service and thank you for taking your time to greet first timers. Definitely recommend 10/10

Ok... ok... here we go! ok We came and LET ME JUST SAY! No regrets ALL SUCCESS on this belly. The food was AMAZING. The flavor was good. We didn't get a chance to take a picture of or food because we just took the girl to mouth approach lolThe picture below where a request we made after finding out they make corn tortillas by hand! We asked for a side of sour cream and cheese. ( one of my guilty simple pleasures) with NO hesitation.. our waitress Delia, made it happen. Oh man.... This gal was smiling from cheek to cheek. Then our food yum. The finished up with dessert flan! AMAZING WE WILL NE HERE AGAIN WITH OUR FRIENDS. Worth sharing and recommending.

When I work in Vernon which is really close to Huntington park, I go to only 2 restaurants depending on the food mood I am in. Today it was Mexican. BEST place to go. Salsa is on point. I ate the salsa with my chips, poured it on my red rice and dipped my french fries. Yes I said french fries. Freshly made guacamole for your table. Food is fast and hot. Service is quick. Servers are always checking on you and busing the tables to make room for more food. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

I was in the mood for Mexican however there's not much good food where my mother-in-law lives in South Central, but I looked on and I found this spot and it was fairly local so I was like this is worth a shot. The first time I went here. I got the Avila's soup a really really good healthy plain chicken soup with avocado, tomato, and rice this past time that I went was even better my daughter and I shared carne asada the plate and I'm fairly picky with it I just feel like it's a hit or miss with certain places, but this one was so so so good!! and more the plenty for us to share. I would say my only complaint about this place is the salsa is terrible and I love chips and salsa. They just put like chunks of green onion and stuff in there like not diced well or anything besides that everyone everyone's always been nice and the food's always been good.:)

This place was beautiful, service was amazing, and the food was amazing!! My first time trying this place and it was very exciting the place looked beautiful but if you want to get a table/parking get ready to wait a while but it's worth it!!

The food was good, not great. It felt like they held back on a lot of the traditional ingredients you would utilize for certain dishes. The Chile Verde was a 7/10. Burrito 7/10. Pozole 5/10. The service was 10/10 and the ambiance was nice, very family friendly. Overall, we enjoyed our time!
