The Most Anticipated Restaurants in D.C., Fall 2019 | Eater DC

"A new Latin American market in the Union Market district will bring vendors selling everything from Panamanian coffee, Salvadoran pupusas, and Peruvian sandwiches to vegan Bolivian fine dining, seafood-centric Mexican stalls, and modernist Colombian offerings; the opening party is set for September 7 with tenants rolling in throughout the fall." - Gabe Hiatt

Google
I finally found a place to get awesome tamales! I got a half dozen Green Chile Pork Tamales. They was with care. I got homemade chips too. They have all kinds of salsa too. I really enjoyed everything I bought. I will be back. 😊 I have bought tamales from other places. They were not good at all.

Google
Quesabirria plate - absolutely delicious. Tender meat, ample cheese, good tortilla. Birria sauce for dipping was excellent even drizzled over the well cooked rice. Definitely give this option a try!

Had the products I was looking for to make a dish from back home! Also, the Cuban Sandwich was amazing. Great experience, we will definitely be back!

Just tried a little bit ago, the food was delicious. I ordered carnitas street tacos, came with rice and beans. And I added a pork tamale on the side. My husband had the Cuban sandwich which was also very good. Bonus for us they have Doritos from Mexico which we love. Friendly staff and service! Will be going again!

Google
Maps take you to the wrong side of the mall. Drive around the corner. Excellent Cuban sandwich. I always order a Cuban if it is an option, and this was in my top two. Take and bake enchiladas are large and filling... two enchiladas fill an adult male for $6. Salsa and guacamole have great flavors and not hot unless you choose heat. Great value. Thank you.

Google
We found this place on accident and are incredibly happy we did. Reasonably priced goods and fantastic authentic food. Prices for quality and quantity are unbeatable in this area. Totally worth searching out for a quick bite. Already making plans for my next lunch trip.

Google
Just went for the first time and it definitely won't be the last. Carne asada preparado available by the pound, Latin seasonings and sauces that are hard to find outside of South O, yuca, chicharrones, platano, they had it all.

We had a taco bar from Aviles Latin Market catered in for an office event this week. So yummy and so many compliments from co-workers that they loved it! Also want to shout out the Aviles team for pulling this off as I totally dropped the ball in getting them our headcount when I said I would, resulting in not "officially confirming" our order. When I called the morning of to confirm the delivery, they graciously took everything in stride and made it happen at the correct time. So grateful for the Aviles team!

Yelp
Best Cuban sandwich I've ever had! Pretty sure it was the owner who made it for me and he was super friendly. I would come here all the time if I lived in this neighborhood, that sandwich is truly addictive! Also I didn't realize there were tables you could sit and eat at, a whole nice little dining space. What a gem! And a great place to do some grocery shopping as well.

Yelp
Love Aviles! Great little market / eatery. They truly have amazing salsa's. Best in town probably. Great house made chips. Plain or seasoned. The chicharron are absolutely delicious!!! This place is a must have!

Yelp
First of all, the service was delightful. We experienced a very helpful, good-natured gent who gave us the answers we needed. The food they were prepared smelled AMAZING. We were only there to try a local vendor's tortillas. We wanted to compare them to Super Mercado. It is a well-tended business, clean, with great staff. Worth visiting!

Yelp
Their tamales, salsa and guacamole are the best. It's overly expensive but for real tamales it's almost worth it. I got 6 tamales, salsa and chips and it was $51 which seems really expensive but the quality is there.

Yelp
Tried Aviles out for the first time and maybe I just had a bad day but the tacos I got were just very dry and lacking for my taste. I tried the carne and birria tacos and I would have a hard time saying these come anywhere close to some of the tacos I've had in Omaha. I also got some red chile chicken tamales and they were pretty good! Defintley better than the tacos. I might try something else next time as the reviews really made me feel like it would be better than what I experienced.

Yelp
I HAVE TOLD ALL OF MY FAMILY ABOUT AVILES! And when they come to visit me, this is where I'm taking them. First of all, the family who owns it are the sweetest people ever. So kind, great service, and I love that there's a grocery store attached. It doesn't take long to prepare and the meals are made fresh. I've visited a few times and have yet to find something I don't like. The prices are reasonable, the food is authentic and delicious. They don't skimp on the meat and it is so so tender. Get the enchiladas, there's cream cheese in them (what?!?!). An order of the small enchiladas lasted me a few days because with the chips and dip it will fill you up quick. If you're looking for birria, this is your place. I pretty much fed our family of 3 for two days off of the chips, salsa, queso, guac, birria quesadilla and taco meal. And I woke up craving it the next morning. This is going to become a regular for me! You're sleeping on Aviles if you haven't been yet. Love this place!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Aviles for a few months now. I've seen people post on Omaha Food Lovers and everything looked so fresh. I bought two of the take and bake enchiladas in chicken and beef, medium salsa, guacamole, chips, and two drinks. They had to go meals, tons of spices, different snacks, frozen food and their take a bake options. The enchiladas were very good and had great flavor. I would definitely get them again. I thought they were better than Eric's Enchiladas from the farmers market however, Eric's Enchiladas fresh flour tortilla chips are definitely preferred over the chips here. The juice drinks were also fun to try. It was slightly confusing to get there per my phone directions, however, the signs helped to get you in front of the market. I would definitely go back and I would try some of their deli options and need to spend more time looking around at everything they have to offer.

Yelp
Their service is great-- I bought their masa twice to make tamales. Both times it was delicious, fresh and is perfect to spread for making tamales hasta pronto! The finished end product: That's if you have any tamales leftover, fry tamales and eggs for breakfast. Sabroso!

Yelp
Excelente, mi favorita. Mejor mangonada en todo el omaha Delicious food and great Service.

Yelp
Add about 3 - 4 bucks this menu price isn't correct. Green salsa not bad a little on the sweet side for me.

Yelp
Great new addition to Omaha. The fresh made Chicharrón's are amazing. You can even get there meats like Birria to go and make your own tacos at home. Fun night for the family!

Sophia M.

Yelp
Very clean place! The service was great and the staff was super helpful. We were able to find what we needed to make some yummy pupusas tonight and stocked up on snacks for the drive back to Kansas! Thank you guys for being so helpful and kind, we will be back again when in Omaha!

Yelp
The food at Aviles Latin Market is fantastic!!!! Cooked by renown chef, Jose Aviles. All of the food here is authentic Mexican; and the shop has a variety of Latin items, so you can cook at home. When you visit plan to pick up one of Jose's homemade meals made fresh daily. You'll love it!!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots. Small latin market that also has a HOT food section. Went for the first time, and was shocked at the clean, friendly atmosphere and the decent pricing. Bought a whole rotisserie chicken, rice, some beans that were on steroids, a steak fajita dinner, and some birria tacos. Great value, and will go again.

Yelp
Everything we bought was soooo good and fresh! From the enchiladas to the flan we were raving about the flavors. And my husband really enjoyed the owner!

Patrick E.

Yelp
Tucked behind the strip mall, the location is not great but the food is incredible and people were incredibly nice.
