IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. My three friends and I went there twice when we were in Athens and we loved it. The food was very good, we enjoyed everything we ordered. But the truth is that the service was the best part of our experience. The waiter, Sakis, is the best person you can meet in this place. He was nice, polite, funny and made us feel happy throughout our visit. The second person was Hubert, who talked to us the whole time and checked if everyone was enjoying their food. I highly recommend a visit to Avli.

Avli is a lovely local restaurant with a welcoming feel. Even though it’s very traditional, the staff speak English and were happy to recommend dishes from their special menu, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. I had the sea bass with lemon sauce, and it was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. One of the pork dishes was a bit too fatty for my taste, though that really comes down to personal preference. The atmosphere is nice overall, but some people were smoking in the outdoor area, which was a little bothersome. Still, a good place to experience local food with friendly service.

Excellent service, great atmosphere, and most importantly, outstanding Greek food. Arrive before 6 pm to get a table with little to no wait. After that, the line can get long, but I promise it’s worth it. Portions are generous and reasonably priced.

My friend found this spot and was so excited to try it based upon Trip Advisor feedback. It definitely looks unassuming from the street. Luckily, we arrived before the afternoon rush and easily seated ourselves at one of the many tables available. After about it 15 minutes, the place was packed and by 3pm there was a line out the door into the street. Service was fine, very slow but exceptionally friendly. We tried a small sampler plate, meatballs, bread and a Greek salad with delicious fresh ingredients. The kitchen is small and they were packed so it took a very long time to get our entrees but the bread and salad was out quickly. My friend also had a small jug of honeyed wine that was also very good. They were so busy by the time we left they were running around like crazy and it was all Greeks and hardly any tourists. It’s a ways away from touristy areas and you’d never find it from the street if you didn’t know as it’s through an indescript door/alleyway and opens to a gorgeous seating area. They do have a bathroom for guests.

Local tavern hidden. As you wander around athens streets look around and be ready to find new and great places. Aveli restaurant is a simple yet nice place to hangout. Entrance is through a small corridor from the street, so narrow that one.can easily miss. Inside there is a small inner house garden area where the restaurant is operating. Food is basic and taisty. Prices are resonable. Service and atmosphere very good

I’m not sure about this place. It’s quite unique because of its design and old style Greek street set up. However, the menu is quite poor. I understand that this is what they wanted to cook and sell here but I didn’t very like it, unfortunately. We could not even choose something from the menu because it’s either something over fried and over cooked. It’s not like it’s not tasty but it’s not what I expected. So if you want some Greek food or something tasty, I don’t think it’s a place you want to queue in.

Great ambiance, with the greek music just at the back, a small and cosy restaurant that’s very local. Not much place to sit it’s just an alley with 30 places give or take, so be sure not to come during peak lunch/ dinner time. I came at about 18.30 and there’s not much waiting time to get a table. The food was great but nothing exceptional. Loved the fried zucchini and the chicken that’s packed with flavour. The small plates perfect for sharing, note that the portions are not big, but the price is very reasonable. Overall loved the whole experience but would not wait 30 minutes in line for this.

Absolutely loved this taverna! The fried peppers and Greek salad were delicious – simple, fresh, and full of flavor. Great service, warm atmosphere, and authentic food that hits the spot. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a real taste of Greece. Will definitely come back – thank you!
