Yelp
1st visit - met a friend for lunch, wasn't horrible, but I wasn't impressed. For what I paid the portion did not even fill me and I left hungry ....
2nd visit - their menu appealed to my friend visiting from out of town who is vegetarian. They sat us at a table for 2 wedged in between two other large parties, even though 3 booths were empty. We requested moving to a booth, and were told booths are for larger parties. FYI, they were not busy.
The young lady did change us to a booth with the disclaimer if the manager approached us, tell them "we'd insisted on the booth". We were there about 2 hours and from the time we arrived, until the time we left.. no one was ever seated in those 2 other empty booths.
I ordered a seafood or shrimp risotto, can't recall... but it was not good. I think I picked up the shrimp and left the risotto...
3rd and LAST try - we made reservations a few weeks ago and showed up early to enjoy drinks. Upon arrival, all the chairs were piled up on top of the tables and the door locked.
We could see an employee sitting at bar, so we knocked. He came over, unlocked the door and said sorry we're closed tonight...
I expressed we had reservations, to which he replied ... sorry they didn't contact you. So if you don't have a full house you just close??
Quick note - our party of two generally spends $200 - $300 just for the two of us, depending on if we order a bottle of wine. As someone whose family is in the hospitality business, you honor your patrons, you honor your hours and you honor your reservations no matter how slow it is.
That was really the last straw for us and Will most likely never be trying Avocado Grill again ... nor will I ever recommend it to anyone I know.
On a positive note - I've been to Pink Steak and Avocado Cantina and had the total opposite experience.
So I don't know if it comes down to management at each particular location. But the Datura location is dead in my culinary book....
