Delicious, fresh donuts. Come early because they sell out fast! Lots of unique flavours/combinations - you can't go wrong being a little adventurous, but the classics are great too. Friendly service with a cute bar area to eat and drink coffee. Good spot to watch car events happening on Woodward.

Heard they had a yummy Chocolate Peanut Butter donut so stopped. Luckily they had a few left so I got a couple and an Apple Fritter. Delicious. Worth the drive. Great friendly service. Would recommend.

I consider myself a donut foodie, if that’s a thing, and finding a great donut in Detroit isn’t any easy task, but when I found Avon Donuts I was amazed. The apple fritters are historic, crispy almost crunchy, loaded with apples, and drizzled with perfection. The old fashioned sour cream are tangy and dredged in glaze that almost snaps when you take your first bite. The filled donuts are overflowing with lemon and jelly deliciousness. We’ve never been disappointed with, what I think, are Detroit’s best donuts.

Stumbled into this place once and since then im here almost every day! Favorite is the glaze, if you get there early they’re still warm! However, I usually spice up and get one donut that I have not tried, I have YET to be disappointed.

The best doughnuts I’ve had since moving back to Michigan! My wife and I visited recently around 6:00am and they were so fresh and delicious! I think apple fritters were sold out already or still being made but they had a large variety and it was all good. Will be returning soon.

Always a great experience The service is always outstanding. I called in an order the day before to have two dozen assorted donuts ready and packaged the next morning. The attendent on the phone was very polite and friendly. My two dozen was ready when I arrived. These donuts are a hit with any crowd, great variety of glazed, sprinkles, fruity and many more. I also appreciate that they asked if I needed any with nuts separated due to allergies.

I was reading Yelp's top 50 donut shops in the US. We were visiting Pontiac and there was Avon on the list. So, we had to try it! Super fast service, great selection and the donuts and small cinnamon roll were delicious! We sat in a stool, looked out the window and enjoyed our donuts.

First time at this business and had a bit of a hit and miss with my order of four donuts. The donuts themselves were good but one of the four donuts I ordered was effectively a half donut and looked like it had been broke in half. The person putting the donut in my bag had to have seen this and should never have done this or alternatively gave me a full donut to go along with the half donut. I would have given this business four stars but I ended up taking half off, similar to my half off donut I got from this business.

Wow is all I can say to describe this place. I didn't think Michigan had a great doughnut scene, but man was I wrong. This place rivals some of the best doughnut places in Portland and Chicago that I've had. Hands down the best doughnut spot in Michigan. Everything they make is fresh, knowing that you need to get here early. If you come after 11am, you probably won't get your pick of doughnuts. If you get in early, you must get a glaze doughnut because there's a chance you can get it warm. That itself is worth getting up early for because it's incredible. Outside of the glaze, you really can't go wrong with any of their doughnuts but my favorite has to be the Glazed Red Velvet and Double Chocolate. Tried the fruity pebbles one just to try it, it's cute and great for a picture but there are better tasting ones. The service is also incredible, while this place is popular, I've never had to wait more than a minute to order. You're pretty much in & out if you want to be - they also have a few tables in there if you want to hang out a have a cup of coffee, Can't wait to keep coming to this place!! What a treat.

A Woodward tradition anytime me and the boys meet up on Saturday or Sunday. We meet at Avon donuts they always have a great selection of donuts they're always fresh and if you don't get there, they'll be sold out. So get up there early if you want first, Pickens.

I've been here a couple of times. It's a small gem on Woodward Ave across from M1 concourse. They have a great selection of donuts. It's a very popular spot so get in there, make your decision, pay, then get out of the way. There are a few chairs to sit and eat your donuts and drink your coffee but I would recommend getting it to go. It's just too busy in there to really enjoy it. It's fast pace and loud environment. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

We dropped in at 9 AM on Friday and only a couple of items were out. I was kind of worried that everything would be out given all the reviews of people lining up before the shop opens, but luckily almost everything was still in stock! We picked a half dozen donuts - some more yeasty, some more cakey. The yeasty ones are my favorite - nice sugar glaze crunch exterior combined with a soft and pillowing, yet somewhat chewy interior. And of these, the special seasonal strawberry was the best. But all donuts were delicious. You really can't go wrong with purchasing anything at Avon Donuts.

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed Avon Donuts yet?! It's my favorite donut place ever! I love supporting small businesses, and while there is no drive thru, the wait time is shorter than the nearest Canadian shop near me that serves more than donuts. Majority of the time I have encountered nice employees, but sometimes they wear their emotions on their sleeves and you can tell they're tired or annoyed with being around people. I don't bring my kids inside much anymore since I never know if the staff will be able to pull out a smile for the little humans or not. Their work is exhausting, I'm sure, but that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They work in that small space all day every day that they may forget it could be someone's first time or they only visit a handful of times each year. I had recommended it to a friend once and her first time going was not a great experience. Luckily, the donuts speak for themselves and are so delicious that they are worth going back for. I love that they have a good variety of options! Pro Tip: since it's a small, family run business be sure to check out their Facebook page to see if they're open. They may close for various holidays or events.

I've been searching for a new donut shop, but nothing in our area really caught my eye. I've had Avon Donuts bookmarked for a while but never had the chance to make a trip - until last weekend. I woke up super early and piled my kids into the car (we're early risers) and arrived at 6:30 and there was already a line! Two people in front of us, and we got to the front to see all the yeast and cake gloriousness and it was all SUPERB. The glazed were just coming out - warm and steaming. I grabbed half a dozen of those and my kids started devouring them before we left. They were melt-in-your-mouth goodness, and dare I say it - better than Krispy Kreme! I know - blasphemous; but I'm telling you the truth. You have to visit for yourself to become a believer - I promise you will agree! The rest of the flavors we picked were equally as amazing. All delicious and not a crumb went uneaten. We will definitely return and have finally found our go-to donut shop in Michigan!

They are by far the best donuts around! Every day they make thousands of donuts early early in the morning and by 2:00 PM in the afternoon they close up shop because they have sold out everything to very happy customers. Don't let this very small place fool you because they are very proficient at what they do.

I had a good time inside and it was very good and smelled good the service was ok. But the donut with the bacon on it got me very sick. I threw up twice the day after and it was undercooked.

The best donuts you will ever taste are at Avon Donuts. They have been ranked as high as the 3rd best donut shop in the United States. I beg to differ, they are number 1 as far as I am concerned. Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR are supposed to be the best in the country. My son visited there and said Avon belongs in the same conversation with them; the only difference being the size of the donuts (V.D. Are just a little bit bigger). That notwithstanding, taste, quality, variety and freshness are comparable. Therefore Avon gets my vote as the best donuts in the country!

I can't add much to all the well deserved accolades this gem has already received from other lucky reviewers. This is one of the top 5 donuts in the world. I can't say I've had a better donut, no matter what flavor it was, anywhere else, but I'm sure other peoples' opinions may differ. I just love a great donut.

Absolutely the best donuts I have had in Michigan. Their cake donuts blow all others out of the water! Whenever I visit Avon Donuts, I make sure to go first thing in the morning to make sure I have the best chance at getting my favorite donuts. I arrived at 7 am on Saturday, and there were 3 people ahead of me. When I was leaving, there were at least 6 people behind me with more people pulling into the parking lot. Avon was keeping up with the demand, and they were continuously switching out empty trays and replacing them while I was in line. I started off with a dozen and a half of their regular donuts. After those were boxed, I ended up ordering 2 of the fancy donuts as well. When you come first thing in the morning you have a great chance of getting these fancy donuts fresh out of the fryer and still warm, so it's worth it to get up early! I also ordered a 16oz. black coffee. For regular donuts, I highly recommend the red velvet donut, the cherry chip donut, the peanut butter chocolate donut, and the nutty buddy. For the fancy donuts, I always get the maple bacon donut, the bow-tie, and the mini cinnamon roll. Typically I prefer cake donuts, but these yeast donuts are amazing too. The inside of the space is small, with only 4-5 stools along the bar. When I was there everyone was taking their orders to go. A dozen donuts is $17.50 currently, and fancy donuts are an additional charge. For a dozen and a half donuts, 2 fancy donuts, and a large coffee I spent around $35 and it was worth every penny. There are so many great flavors we typically cut the donuts into quarters so we can try some of each. While these are best eaten fresh, the cake donuts hold up extremely well overnight. Whenever I am going to someone's house, or hosting brunch in my own home, my contribution is always Avon Donuts!

I've been wanting to try Avon donuts for a while now and have stopped by twice in the last week, both times they were closed due to the store being closed for a mini spring break. So, woke up early this morning and headed over there. I arrived a little after 8:00am and they were packed with a line. I believe they open at 6:00am and they still had plenty of donuts left but were low/out on some flavors already. The line moved pretty quickly though as there were two employees helping customers, I ordered a cinnamon roll donut, apple fritter, maple bacon, lemon drop and chocolate cream filled. I tried a little of every donut, and they are all equally amazing... The dough is soft and the fillings/flavor were great! Their prices are amazing as well, all of the donuts were $11. I see why Avon Donuts is so popular and will definitely be back to try other flavors! PS: I believe they close at 1pm, but they never stay open that late because they sell out, so get there early!

It's a small little shop off of Woodward in Pontiac. There's a small little café in the front part of the store. Small area to gather inside. Looks like they're pretty popular, as I saw a steady stream of people coming in before and after me. It's slim pickings after 10:45AM. They recommended coming at 8 AM when they set up all the donuts for the day. They only make every kind of donut once a day and that's it. The sour cream's were out early today. :/ I ended up getting the glazed buttermilk as a back up. They are low on many different kinds of the better and more popular donuts today, as expected with the late morning hour. My first bite was a buttermilk glazed, Red velvet glazed, blueberry glazed, custard, mini cinnamon and a mini apple fritter. The total came to $9.67. They look and smell pretty good. They do take Discover, MasterCard and Visa here. I will have to try them again if their donuts are decent. Everything wanted to try the sour cream doughnut, but that requires me having to be here much earlier. The buttermilk glazed was the first one I had tried, it was okay, not loving the flavor so much. The red velvet wasn't bad, a bit dry, the blueberry tasted the best out of all of the assorted dozen. The cinnamon roll was decent, would be better warmed up. The Apple fritter was quite dry and didn't have any hint of apple flavor to me. The custard flavor wasn't my jam, at all, rather left a chemical after taste from it actually. All in all it's not bad but not worth the 20+ minute drive each way. DG in Detroit is still my number one.
