Absolutely the best donuts I have had in Michigan. Their cake donuts blow all others out of the water!
Whenever I visit Avon Donuts, I make sure to go first thing in the morning to make sure I have the best chance at getting my favorite donuts. I arrived at 7 am on Saturday, and there were 3 people ahead of me. When I was leaving, there were at least 6 people behind me with more people pulling into the parking lot. Avon was keeping up with the demand, and they were continuously switching out empty trays and replacing them while I was in line.
I started off with a dozen and a half of their regular donuts. After those were boxed, I ended up ordering 2 of the fancy donuts as well. When you come first thing in the morning you have a great chance of getting these fancy donuts fresh out of the fryer and still warm, so it's worth it to get up early! I also ordered a 16oz. black coffee.
For regular donuts, I highly recommend the red velvet donut, the cherry chip donut, the peanut butter chocolate donut, and the nutty buddy.
For the fancy donuts, I always get the maple bacon donut, the bow-tie, and the mini cinnamon roll. Typically I prefer cake donuts, but these yeast donuts are amazing too.
The inside of the space is small, with only 4-5 stools along the bar. When I was there everyone was taking their orders to go.
A dozen donuts is $17.50 currently, and fancy donuts are an additional charge. For a dozen and a half donuts, 2 fancy donuts, and a large coffee I spent around $35 and it was worth every penny. There are so many great flavors we typically cut the donuts into quarters so we can try some of each. While these are best eaten fresh, the cake donuts hold up extremely well overnight. Whenever I am going to someone's house, or hosting brunch in my own home, my contribution is always Avon Donuts!
