Cannot believe I didn’t know about this place sooner. My friend brought me here for the first time and I’m so looking forward to come back. It’s got several cool little nooks and sections that are so unique. I think the owners got great taste and variety! They were running a teacher appreciation special that day so we got $5 glasses to start. We split a 6 choice charcuterie plate, everything was delicious! The warm pita and regular baguette bread you get is a nice touch! I think his name was Hank, who took care of us at the bar, friendly guy! We finished off with some Prosecco that is made by a local Charlestonian so cheers to that. This is a great spot in Avondale for date night, girls night or even solo night! Cheers 🥂

Google
Came in here for drinks with a friend. Did the three meats and three cheeses charcuterie board - everything was delicious. Love love love the hot pepper jelly. Service was lovely. My only thing is I wish they played music. There wasn’t any playing the few hours we were there and I felt like that would have really elevated the atmosphere.

Google
The atmosphere is so cute and cozy! They have an extensive wine list with a variety of price ranges and while I didn’t try their food, the menu looked amazing! I’ll have to come back to try out their charcuterie and tapas.

Google
We are so glad we found this place on vacation! We ended up going twice. The service, charcuterie options, and wine were all top notch. The people there are so friendly.... Just a great place to hang out and enjoy wine and conversation. Highly recommend!

Google
A true 5-star experience across the board, especially the wonderful staff. There's not a better place in Charleston to get a cost-effective, fantastic glass of wine and charcuterie. My wife and I strategically take our uppity friends & family here and wildly impress. Would give 6 out of 5 stars if possible.

Google
We hosted a couple's shower at Avondale Wine and Cheese in January and the entire experience was amazing from initial contact to day of the party! Amazing food and wine, even better service! The guests and, more importantly, the couple were so happy with the party! Thanks so much.

Google
Me and my friends absolutely adore this place! The tapas are all excellent, and they have a bunch of fun drink options, including non alcoholic. I highly recommend the Sunrise cannonball, the Humboldt fog cheese and the whipped duck rillete.

Google
What a wonderful surprise. We came from Kansas City, Missouri for a brief vacation. We looked up wine tastings and happened on this place. We loved it! Highly encourage people to enjoy a special experience at Avondale Wine and Cheese.

Yelp
Cutest eatery in Avondale. Amazing wine selection and best charcuterie by far. Went on. Friday early evening. Staff were fun and shared all of the Women's' Month specials. I enjoyed the wine flight from all female owned wineries. My spouse enjoyed multiple tastings of cabs. We each brought a bottle home. The cheeses are davine - whipped feta is our favorite. Recommend going early as fills quickly.

Yelp
They have some great fun themes for wine tasting each month. I just went to the Girl Scout cookie and wine tasting for $25 and they did a great job of pairing the wines with the Girl Scout cookies. The atmosphere is very cute and quaint with an outdoor patio.

Yelp
Avondale wine and cheese is one of my go to spots since I can here years ago. I love the huge selection of cheese, meats and wines they have. The baked Brie with nuts is one one of my favorite a La Carte items! Carolina sunset is my absolute favorite cheese on the menu. It's so good. The not only have soft cheeses but a good selection of soft, semi hard and hard! So there's definitely something for everyone. The staff is always so nice and are always willing to help with questions or just bring us so much bread. (We tend to ask for a lot XD)

Yelp
I loved this place. Huge selection of wine, yummy snacks and good service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Very nice wines and charcuterie boards! It's nice to just pick everything you want and the waitress was helpful!

Yelp
Always such a treat to share some wine and delicious meats, cheeses, and bread with friends here! Our server was kind and interactive with our wine tasting. She helped us pace ourselves through a beautiful happy hour and never let us run out of bread. One of the many challenging decisions here is where to sit. Inside is warm, cozy, and vibey with all the wine bottles and lighting, but the back patio is a dream as well with the music and plants. Got to try the brie with bacon jam this time in addition to a pick 4 - WOW! Everything was delish

Yelp
This is a great place to go with friends. We really outdid ourselves and got like 15 choices on our charcuterie board--there were so many choices, we wanted to try everything. We could not eat it all, but they were all so good we had fun trying and it was hard to stop. Great choices in wine as well--all reasonably priced. Waitstaff is attentive and friendly, and I LOVE the casual yet intimate atmosphere. Great experience and I highly recommend.

Yelp
This is my go-to, tried and true local spot for the perfect girls night out. The value comes when you go to Harris Teeter and try to buy 8 different meats/cheeses and realize its $100+. Then they add the bonus goodies to fancy up your selections and the delicious baguette! Their wine selection is seemingly endless and sometimes there's no corkage fee if you choose to go with a retail bottle. They have an outdoor space that used to be much cuter as there were vines growing all over the walls, but outside is outside if you're a die hard outside eater! They also recently expanded their space which means less waiting on popular evenings! Don't sleep on their new lunch menu!

Yelp
The most simple concept yet brilliant and always welcomed. We both tried the rose tasting and ordered some wine & meats (Believe we did the 4 or 5 option?). It was the perfect amount for a snack for two people. The tasting went quick but we def coulda dragged it out and stayed longer if we drank slower lol. The vibes are immaculate and so cozy and intimate. Would be great for a date or coming with the gals.

Yelp
Avondale Wine and Cheese is probably one of my favorite wine bars in all of Charleston. The only complaint is that everyone else thinks so too so the line can be long. Put your name on the waitlist and they will call you when a table is ready or best is to go when they open. The environment is welcoming and dark- perfect for a long talk over wine. The employees are knowledgeable, helpful, and generally happy. The menu is super diverse and I love all the selection of cheese and meats they have. I typically go for a red wine and all of the ones I've had have been delicious. The prices range but are pretty practical for the quality you are paying for.

Yelp
TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!! This is probably my favorite place to take company, it's so intiment and haven't had anything I didn't like!
google avatar

Yelp
Wine selection is great! We haven't tried the cheese and accoutrements but we will. Great prices for glass of wine, nice friendly folks, will be back for food soon. Cute space!

Yelp
Always a good experience at Avondale wine and cheese. Good wine and good cheese. Love the outdoor patio in the back.

Yelp
Avondale Wine and Cheese was a great hang out place for wine and cheese. Great atmosphere, great charcuterie board, great wines. A must visit place for sure.

Yelp
My coworkers and I went here after work, we just walked in and we were seated in the "wine room" I wish I had gotten a photo, the room felt VIP, even though we weren't, it was small and semi-private room with three or four tables in it. When we got there we had it to ourselves. The room still had plenty of "windows" that allowed us see outside of the room, but between the window were covered in different types of wine. While we had a lot to talk about, if the conversation lagged, we talked about different types of wine we'd like to try in the future. The staff was very patient while we made our decision. Now the important part, food. Appetizers: The dates stuffed with Gorgonzola were the stars of this charcuterie board, they were also wrapped in prosciutto. I am generally not a fan of sweet and savory foods, but the saltines of prosciutto balanced with the sweet date and creamy Gorgonzola perfectly. This may be pretty common but it was a first for me. The flavors were sweet, creamy and savory. but it was perfectly balances with the sweet date and creamy cheese. The crab dip: I am sad to report that I cannot eat crab, so sadly I will not report on the taste, my friends all told me it was delicious though. And it definitely looked great. I cannot personally recommend. Cheese: We ordered three cheeses, Manchego, whipped feta and dirt lover, a semi soft cheese from Missouri. My favorite was the whipped feta, lighter than whipped butter, whether on the pita or baguettes it was delicious, lightly sweet and very creamy, it left a nice after taste that makes you keep going for more. Meats: I actually didn't get a taste of the prosciutto on its own, (you snooze you lose) but based on the dates, I'm sure it tasted delicious on its own as well. next meat was the N'duja, spicy spreadable pork sausage, delicious, nice kick but definitely not overpowering. When you think of spreadable pork may be a little daunting but it didn't have a mushy texture, I didn't think about it too much it just tasted like meat crumbled. Sun-dried tapenade, has sun dried tomatoes with Kalamata olives, lemon and capers, even just as four flavors listed, it tasted more complex that it was, which was great, every bite tasted a little different. If you don't like olives, you'll enjoy this too, because it was not overpowering olive taste, but it was still evident it was in it. Wine: I'm a red wine drinker- I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon then a merlot. I'm not a wine connoisseur. But if you've never had red wine, both are dry wines, I preferred the Cabernet with this selection, there were a couple of sweet items on the charcuterie board and I preferred a wine not so sweet with this combination. Overall I really enjoyed this experience great place to wind down after a hard day with some pals or just a chill night out with friends.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I have been several times. They have some really great wine options as well as make your own charcuterie and cheese board. They have tapas as well if your a little more hungry. My favorite is the baked brie with a berry compote. The staff is always super friendly and attentive, despite how busy they are. We were the last ones there but they didnt rush us out even when we asked as I never want to keep someone late at their job. That speaks volumes. It's a cute little space with some outdoor seating in the back as well. It's very cozy and a great date spot. Parking is fairly easy as well along the street, there's no lot.

Yelp
Love this place! Drunken cheese, stuffed dates, peppadews and whipped feta are all amazing!!

Andrew M.

Yelp
This is the best spot for locals to get great cheese selections + an incredible wine list - all at an affordable price. The service is top notch and they have intimate indoor seating + a covered outdoor patio. This is our favorite Friday night spot for a low-key ambiance with high-quality experience. Can't recommend this place enough.

Yelp
The greatest wine and cheese place in Charleston hands down! The service is always amazing, and everyone is so accommodating! Best place to eat with the besties or have a date night! There plenty of tables on both sides of the bar in between! The atmosphere is relaxing, romantic, but comfy! With Art for sale on the walls, merchandise for the store, book shelves full of different books, and most importantly different types of wine on the racks! When you think of a wine and cheese place, Avondale's Wine and Cheese is exactly the type of place you picture! Red or white, pink or champagne, Avondale's Wine and Cheese has it!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I happened to be staying right near this place on vacation so I decided to check it out tonight. I really fell in love with the vibe as well as the wine selection... not to mention the cheeses! Cozy for one or come on a date night. The staff are friendly and warm. Only wish I had one of these in my hometown!
google avatar

Nikki T.

Yelp
Cute place to meet friends or have a date. Wine and charcuterie? Yes please. Small dining area but our group of four reserved a seat on a Saturday at 3 pm with no issues. Everything was delicious and their charcuterie menus is extensive and full of high quality ingredients.
google avatar

G K.

Yelp
I have been here a few times since I live in the neighborhood. Every time, I enjoy myself to the fullest. The vino is delicious! And one can create their own charcuterie with all the different cheeses, meats, tapas and such. They throw in a few extras to add yum. They have expanded, which I am happy for them. A good business grows. Servers are polite, helpful, but also seemed to understand we did not need a lot of attention. We met on a Monday, so the place was a bit on the quiet side. I met another friend on Friday and it was louder, but that is expected. I really love the space as it is dark, romantic and cozy. And everywhere one looks there is wine!
google avatar

Becky F.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite places in Charleston! From excellent service, to friendly staff, to adorable ambiance and of course let's talk delicious wine and charcuterie. I could go on and on about this place. My favorite thing to do is have them create a board for me...it's a great way to try different things and each time I am beyond impressed! A few of my faves: bacon wrapped dates, white bean dip, baked Brie, whipped feta etc etc. You honestly can't go wrong. This place is a gem and if you haven't been...stop reading this and go now!
google avatar

Yelp
Fab fab fabulous!!! Everyone is wonderful and a great spot to catch some wine , cheese , various proteins -- must do for sure xoxo
google avatar

Yelp
This cute restaurant is every charcuterie board lover's (me!) dream! The dim lighting and classical music makes for a nice atmosphere and would be good for girl's night or date night! The menu has such a variety to build your own board, as well as an extensive wine/beer list as well. Service was good and they were knowledgeable about menu items. 10/10!
google avatar

Ami A.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to meet friends in Charleston! They are an independently female owned wine and tapas shop with amazing food and even wine tastings! My most recent visit was last week and the chalkboard said it's now open for lunch too! I usually order house red or house red blend but every wine has been great! I love their whipped feta, stuffed figs, goat cheeses, olives, pate, meats, everything is amazing!
google avatar

Daniela Z.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! They have a great selection of diverse wines to choose from and I even noticed a beer list! The ambiance was the perfect, laidback vibe. We did a create your own charcuterie board which I liked because we got to choose what we specifically wanted on it. I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Sam F.

Yelp
Gosh, this is SUCH a cute spot. Absolutely perfect for a romantic date night, or for a wine day with your girlfriends. I'm not really a wine drinker, but they were doing a donation drive for a charity I like to support, so I went with some friends, and I was so pleasantly surprised. They have a nice range of wines to choose from, and some delicious food options to share. You can build your own cheese board! The inside seating looks super cozy and intimate, and the outside patio was absolutely perfect for a small group of girlfriends. The place was pretty packed on the Saturday that we went there, but our waitress was great, and she took the time to recommend wines that we might like, and each of us liked the wines she recommended. I definitely plan on going back. They're open for lunch now, so I might try that next. This place may make me a wine convert yet.

Yelp
Cute place, great ambiance, and good quality charcuterie plate! My friend and I stopped by here because we wanted to be fancy and get some wine, cheese, and meat platter. I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing since this is not normally my scene, but the waitress was very friendly and helpful in helping us decide what we should order. What stood out to me about this place was the option to get some tapas as part of the "combo plate" rather than just sticking with wine and cheese. It definitely helped add some variety to our dinner without having to over-order! I like the way how the menu was structured, categorizing the cheese by what animal it came from, and its origin. I'm not as well versed in cheese, but the meat that stood out to me was the duck. Although I don't normally liked shredded/grind meat, the duck was very flavorful and paired well with the cheese's texture! We ordered caprese and basil as tapas and they went well with the plate as well! The ambiance of this place was also great, and I liked that I got everything I wanted without having to break my wallet. I wish we have something this affordable and nice in SoCal as well!

Jeanne K.

Yelp
I always really enjoy this place. The wine selection and quality of the charcuterie boards are always great. I am very disappointed with a new trend that this establishment is following where they pass on the credit card processing fee to the customers . I had a business, and just accepted the fact that part of the merchant fee for processing credit cards was part of "MY"overhead. Many times customers are already paying an annual fee to use their credit cards and now they are having to cover the fee the merchant passed on to them as well. I find this very distasteful. My bill came to about $90 and I did not have that much cash in my wallet at that time. I feel that as a customer.I should not have to pay to use my credit card with the credit card company and then also absorb the establishments merchant credit card fee. I know this is becoming common practice, but as I said, I don't appreciate it.
google avatar

Tommi G.

Yelp
Please DO NOT let the tourists in on this gem. The charcuterie board and wine were excellent. Service was very good as well.
google avatar

Cara W.

Yelp
We stopped in for a girls' day and had the best time choosing from their selection of meats, cheeses, and wine. The staff is wonderful and and super helpful if you're not sure what you want. We ordered the drunken goat cheese twice because it was SO good!
google avatar

Luke S.

Yelp
Came for date night and was thoroughly impressed! Awesome selection of wine, cheese, charcuterie and other items. We dined on the outside patio which was lovely and romantic. Only complaint is the lack of music outside. Would be nice to have in the background. Service was great and precautions were being taken by staff and customers.
google avatar

Sean H.

Yelp
Was invited to check this place out with a few friends. What a great spot to enjoy a wide selection of wines both by the glass or can pick a bottle and great cheese boards. They have several options to create your own board based on number of choices with cheeses, meats, and tapas - add the bacon jam you won't regret it.
google avatar

Nadia D.

Yelp
I can't believe I grew up here and finally tried this place after moving almost halfway across the country. By far the best wiine and cheese place I have ever went to. They actually have more than 6 different cheese and wines despite some big name city places. The wine, cheese, charcuterie and tapas were delicious. Very friendly staff and cute atmosphere. I will be coming back every time I come home.
google avatar

Hillary W.

Yelp
Came over here after looking at expensive antiques across the street -pretty good wine selection and lots of options for charcuterie. Our group had a few different wines and a "pick 6" charcuterie board. Everything on the board was great- definitely good to add honey to our board to go with the bread and cheese. We did order extra bread since we had a fair amount of cheese and goodies left. Staff was great and attentive. Inside is fun too- art on the walls and lots of fun wine bottles to look at while sitting at the table.

Yelp
Great wine selection. Busy especially on Thursdays but highly worth it. Parking is a like a game of chess lol

Yelp
Worlds best Roasted Cherry & Chevre ice cream! Only available here! Come on down and get yours

Ron W.

Yelp
We went in on Monday, and experienced a fantastic assortment of Charcuterie along with a few delicious wines. An added bonus is no corkage fee on Monday! Our server Christina was excellent!! She suggested her favorite meats and cheeses and was on point with wine pairings. We will definitely request her when we return soon!
google avatar

Ashton M.

Yelp
I came here recently for a quick happy hour glass of wine. I chose the orange wine, which wasn't quite matching the description, but it was acceptable minus the large degree of sediment. Service was attentive. I do wish they offered half-glass pours so one could try a variety of wines while there.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
I love all of the local choices for cheese and meat and the wine was above average. We ordered a couple different cheeses and meats and one of the appetizer specials. They were out of one of the cheeses we wanted to try. Overall we were happy with the way everything tasted but not 5 stars for a place specializing in charcuterie.
google avatar

Chloe H.

Yelp
So fricken good! We are from Florida and frequent a wine and cheese place, but this one by far blows our socks off!! What a great idea to be able to choose what's on your bored instead of a preset selection. You must try the dates! Honestly everything we had was to die for. They also had a small selection of $10 wines to go which was nice to offer. I'd come back to Charleston just for this gem!!!
google avatar

Chelsi U.

Yelp
What an awesome night! It all started with the charcuterie plates at the last yelp event. Wow. They tasted amazing. So amazing, that I searched "charcuterie plates" in yelp and stumbled upon Avondale Wine and Cheese. It was like the butterfly effect. This little shop is located in in the bustling part of West Ashley, right at the busiest intersection. They have a sweet spot. I have walked by this shop several times before and now I kick myself! I should've come here YEARS ago! My friend and I walked into this little intimate restaurant and it felt cozy. There's a little wine shelf to your right (I say little but it really is not). We sat down and had a chance to look over the menu. I honestly did not know what to order. I'm new to this hip "wine and cheese" ordeal, so choosing between sheep, cow and goat cheese was a little overwhelming. If you feel like I did, have no fear. Order whatever the heck you want. Go for it. Everything is AH-MAZING. We had: the Urban Riesling (had to - my last name is Urban and I'm German!), the sopresetta, chicken liver mousse, goat cheese stuffed papadews, filet mignon slices, hummus &pita, St. Stevens soft Brie, smoked honey, smoked olive oil and basalmic, caprese, fig jam, and it was accompanied with bread, toasted walnuts and dried figs. I tried to pick a favorite but it was all so daggon GOOD! We decided after the first bite that we'd be back, with or without eachother! Seriously it was an awesome time. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is the SPOT if you love to try new wines and cheeses. I wouldn't say this place is a first date spot though because it is small, and can get noisy. However, it is a fun, casual, and approachable way to expand you palate. I love how customizable and affordable the cheese boards are. For $15, you can choose 4 options from their meat, cheese, and tapas list - with their complimentary bread (which they will refill for free), this is more than enough for two people on a date night. I wouldn't say it's a whole meal, but still enough to be satisfied. I love this place and we will be back to sample more!!!

Meghan R.

Yelp
Great little spot, wine list is amazing, and the cheese is delish. Highly recommend for a date or night out with the gals!

Shirley G.

Yelp
I'm rather new in the neighborhood and my daughter and I happen to go in on a Wednesday late afternoon. We had a tasting board of the most delicious tapas/snacks that I ever put in my mouth. Loved the bacon jam and we lucked up, it's was ladies night so we drank at a discount. Will most definitely frequent Avondale again.

Anna B.

Yelp
Stayed in Charleston for the weekend, and I was within walking distance of this location. Went on Friday night with my boyfriend, and we had such a great experience we decided to come back Saturday afternoon! If you like charcuterie, wine, or beer in a relaxed atmosphere you will love it here! We tried quite a few cheeses & meats, the black truffle salami was our favorite though. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Yelp
We had a really nice date night here after a busy week at work. We went early (6pm on a Saturday) so we didn't have to wait for a table. The place had a few tables full but we were able to pick our table. The wine selection is extensive enough and reasonably priced. There is also the option to buy a bottle that they have for sale there and pay a $10 corking fee. We opted for a cheese, meat, and app board. The cheeses were delicious and the apps were well made. They arranged it beautifully and brought more bread as we needed for no charge. The board did take a while to come out, but the kitchen happened to be understaffed that day. Enjoyed the ambiance of this casual and intimate spot!

Yelp
Was happy to come back to this place for cheese and meat to go. I was first here this past summer and my tray was just so beautiful. This time, cheese and meat portions were beautiful--but placed in a styrofoam to go. What a disappointment! They did a good job keeping all items separate, but it was for a dinner party. I've ordered to go trays from many places and this was a first-styrofoam box. I ordered online and it was efficient and easy, but make a note--"items will be placed in an unattractive styrofoam container."

Yelp
Another great evening at Avondale Wine and Cheese! Absolutely outstanding service! I love the variety of cheese and charcuterie offerings! We enjoyed a Tempranillo priced at $21/bottle. It was just right for us. Went down too easily! The service was outstanding, and we had a great evening! This is the perfect place to go for a cozy atmosphere, a glass of wine, and yummy bread, cheese, and charcuterie! I highly recommend!
