Avy's Ribs

BEEF BRISKET OR POT ROAST? You decide. The chunk of meat on my $18 sandwich seemed like the latter. I could’ve pulled a chunk of pot roast outta my mom’s Dutch oven and reproduced this sandwich with inadequate sauce or smokiness and a decent dollop of coleslaw. Not sliced, Texas style brisket. It had the consistency and flavor of chuck roast. But I paid for brisket. I won’t be back. Big disappointment.

Driving down PCH, I got this incredible good smoke smell. Found it coming from this place. There isn't much to this restaurant, but it delivers on the menu. Something must have changed in the last year or so. Now it's Mexican and BBQ, before it was BBQ and Pies. With the Mexican on the menu, they have some authentic items, and if you order tacos, you can get them BBQ or Mexican style. BBQ being with slaw and sauce, Mexican being cilantro and onions. The meats are good, but portions could be better, more filling than meat would be nice.

Bbq is pretty good and definitely well made. The brisket was a little greasy but still very good flavors. Ribs were awesome. The 2 meats and 2 sides for $30 is a good deal and decent proportion for 2 people. The California burrito was also very good. Bbq sauce was great. Hot sauce with burrito 🌯 was really good. Prices were pretty good and cheaper than most places in this area There isn’t much seating. For groups of 3 or more probably better to do take away.

I’m visiting a new area and I took a chance and ordered from DoorDash. I ordered a half a rack of ribs and even though they came very odd looking there was an extremely healthy portion. (There were not a lot of rib bones, but a lot of the bottom portion of the spare ribs, but I did not mind because it was a generous serving) The barbecue sauce was outstanding and all of the side dishes were delicious. They were running a two for one on some of the sides so I got a ton of food.

Ordered baby back ribs, collard greens & baked beans. I think they maybe poured a lot of sugar in the greens. Definitely do not order the greens. Baked beans were actually pinto beans & very sweet as well. Did not finish sides. These sides should be savory, maybe a bit vinegary. Bbq sauce pretty tasty. Ribs good, maybe a bit dry.

Stopped in for lunch while getting my car washed next door. Ordered the spare ribs, collard greens, and mac & cheese. I can't remember having ribs this tender, they were excellent. Sides were great as well. Check this place out, I know I'll be coming back. It's great to take out food. They have two small tables out front, and bar seating inside.

Really good bbq tacos, well priced and really friendly staff. Most bbq spots in the area can be a bit pretentious, this is not! Highly recommend. (My to go meal was $15 ish)

This spot. OMG. This is hands down the absolute best barbecue spot. I love the beef ribs, spare ribs the baby back ribs….. all of the links….and the brisket is all fire. I highly recommend that u come here if are feeling like enjoying some of the most amazing barbecue u could imagine. This is definitely going to my go to spot for barbecue here in L.A. I don’t think any of the others can fade Avy’s.

I stumbled upon Avys Ribs, a small hut with a big personality, and I'm so glad I did! Despite its humble exterior, this place packs a punch when it comes to flavor and service. Avy's ribs is somewhat new. It replaced another rib joint at the same location. The place is clean and the service is nice. The food was fine. it was not great. They don't put sauce on the ribs etc. when they are cooking them, but they give you sauce on the side. But it is not the same. They could just make ribs in mild, medium or hot. Also their tacos are fine, but no better than a taco truck. I liked this place. The prices were okay, but there is a lot of BBQ out there so I am moving on. The beans were also quite watery and had little flavor. But again, it was just fine.

This place is very very tiny and I know previously was another rib place the extra condiments Seymour on the Mexican food side when we asked for like extra spicy hot sauce and was not like a regular rib joint type spicy and the meat was just OK really extra salty and the sides were just not edible. Glad I found this little gem. The ribs were amazing and full of meat and juicy. I love that the sauce was on the side . I will definitely order again. The delivery was great as well.

Everything was cold and has no flavor and is all burnt and I am very upset on that fact they took over a great texas bbq spot and now are mis representing the original owners name! PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE MY DOG WOULDNT EAT IT AND I THROW AWAY EVERYTHING ELSE I took pics just to show case this travesty.

I feel bad doing this, but I feel like it needs to be done. To preface, I had really good brisket at some place in OC this weekend, so I had high expectations and was hoping to get the same level of satisfaction. I went on Yelp and got excited to find this place. To sum it up: NO. I got the brisket, and it was tough, lacked smoke flavor, and tasted a little old. I was hungry, so I forced myself to eat it since it is food, and the BBQ sauce made it bearable. The positive side... Mac and cheese was ok (3/5), baked beans (2/5), and the employees were friendly.

Food was amazing! The value per portions was generous. I definitely will be back..I recommend the hamburger or the brisket sandwich..

Not sure what the 5 star reviews are for but this BBQ is Meh at best. Baby Backs were barely passable. Fries were good. Coleslaw was tasteless.

A great little find in Marina Del Rey! They have a bbq menu and a mexican menu, since it was out first time we went with all bbq options. The man at the counter was friendly and said everything was good. The brisket sandwich was very yummy but could use a little more meat for the price. My friend had the beef ribs combo which he said were the best he had ever had, we watched the meat fall off the bone! Will definitely be back to try the mexican options.

Everything was gross worse 35 bucks I spent the flan was thick and curdled briskets was dry like beef jerky they should not be a rib spot disappointment is an understatement

Marco is an amazing Chef ! I had the Beef Brisket, collard greens and cornbread. It was delicious ! I immediately had a flashback of my childhood days, when my dad & mom prepared food for me. The Brisket is tender and flavorful. Your choice of sweet & mild or spicy barbecue sauce. The collard greens are smoky & tasty. The cornbread is moist & sweet. Easily my 3 favorite choices for my Friday dinner. You'll want to try this for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This place was not good. At least for the BBQ. It was cold the entire order, threw away the cornbread cuz that was cold and extremely dense, the Mac and cheese is watered down and the brisket half a pound was only 3 slices of brisket (that was depressing) deff don't recommend

Avy's brings the great bbq/Mexican flavors! My dude Marcos makes a helluva brisket buritto and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Plus you can get your car washed while you eat

Nice guy behind the counter but the reviews look fake. I couldn't get my head around the hot dogs instead of links, the sides that were all off and the meat that wasn't smoked properly. Bring in a smoke master and a chef to consult or to teach you how to do it right and you will be making a fortune! Too overpriced for what you are serving.

I saw this was a new restaurant so I wanted to get it a shot. So I ordered food to go. First of all, the food was amazing. However, there was a small mixed up with the order and I had to return to Hope and correct the issue. Not only did they happily fix the issue, they over compensated. So I highly recommend them for their delicious food and their excellent service.

Blech. We miss Morfia's so much, how did this place replace it? And why are places so blatant with their fake reviews? It is almost laughable (if it wasn't so sad) If you are on Yelp for any amount of time, you can see it easily. No other place with legit reviews gets 5 stars one after the other. Even the best places will get various amounts of stars. They also don't get three-four-five reviews within days of each other (again with those reviews being all five stars)

I have booked beef rid. and pork ribs. taste is so good. But it's not heated enough. A little Mexican restaurant nearby the street. host is so kind. Not bad. P.S. there is a side dish named "... green", is not good, even for me.

The food here is delicious! Had the half chicken with fries and potato salad and my husband had the brisket sandwich with baked beans. I recommend this place to everyone. A small hidden gem.

This is the place for beef ribs for miles around. You don't need teeth! Don't forget the collard greens, they melt in your mouth.

The Mac and cheese was terrible. And chicken and hot link wasn't good either . They had the same like on both sandwiches in regards to the coleslaw on the hot link sandwich was terrible . I was disappointed

Inedible, 6/27/24. Just wasted 40 bucks and literally I cannot eat a single thing, I'm so sorry if you are the store but this is not acceptable. Maybe I caught you on a bad day but this was my first and last time here.

Food and customer service are excellent. The Mexican Food selections are great! The Asada Fries and Asada Burrito (Mexican) were delicious. I recommend calling in your order if you are local.

Never looks busy, but not sketchy. Register guy says everything's good. I was hoping to be sold on something as a first-timer. Food was done well but not good enough to plan a trip for. Baby back ribs were good. Completely detached from the bone. Briskets were ok. Surprised to learn it was cooked through instead of slightly pink, but still tender and crumbles once you bite into it. Mac and cheese was too doughy and peppery. Baked beans were ok.

DISAPPOINTING - I am sad to say we still don't have a good barbecue joint in the neighborhood. I saw this place re-opening and I've been watching it for the last few months. I was excited to try it and find a new local bbq spot. Despite the new pitmaster being a very nice guy. I was greatly disappointed with the food! I ordered "pulled pork", Mac & cheese, and baked beans; three staples that every bbq spot should do well. The "pulled pork" was DEEP FRIED!!! (why would you fry meat when you have a giant smoker‍‍‍). On top of that it was soggy, over cooked, and swimming in oil! The mac & cheese was mush and didn't really have much flavor and the baked bean were in so much liquid they were more like bean soup. Even the bread was a dud, it was just short of artificial wonder bread status. I'm glad blue ribbon shut down, because that place was horrible. Sadly this place isn't calling for a repeat visit either... As of today, if you want some consistent quality bbq, head south a few miles and go to Sauce in El Segundo!!! I have a little hope that this place is just having growing pains and they completely reinvent their food, but that hope is a speck of sand. They should definitely lead with their best stuff.

So happy another BBQ joint opened in this spot. Definitely some of the best BBQ in MDR/PDR/Playa Vista. Will be back to try pie and the rest of the menu! Both the spare ribs & brisket was so juicy tender & full of flavor without BBQ sauce. Super delicious, especially with sauce & all the sides Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, & Corn Bread all so tasty! My only note for the coleslaw was that it needed more dressing, but the coleslaw itself was very fresh & hearty. For the price, quality & amount of food you get, this is probably one of the best meals you can get in the area. Now I don't have to drive to Inglewood to get legit smoked bbq. Service was really fast too & the guy working the counter was also very friendly. Don't know if that guy is Avy, but thanks to Avy for bringing this level of BBQ to this part of town, we definitely needed it.

This family owned business knows how to do things right. They really helped us out with our big event. They did wonderful catering and thought of everything! Their barbecue sauce was fabulous. We are both spicy and mild. We enjoyed ribs, pulled pork, chicken, anti-frizz. We had everything that they offered on that menu and everything was fantastic. They delivered it thoughtfully and with a great deal of month. I would absolutely recommend them any event that you might have when you want to impress folks with your barbecue! Thank you so much!

Ordered delivery and very disappointed . The cornbread was like mini rocks not muffins . The Beef ribs small and not meaty . Spare ribs lukewarm and not flavorful . The Mac and Cheese was tasteless and overcooked. Collard Greens has strange aftertaste

The tacos are amazing...so delicious ! However, skip the nachos because the cheese is yuk ...it's offensive! Avy's please do better...stop being cheap and use actual nacho cheese for the nachos.

The ratings have to be staged. Unless the other food is good. I bought a brisket sandwich and it's was literally 90% fat. I showed him and he made me another sandwich which was not much better. Not worth $5. I paid 23 for sandwich potato salad and a soda. Man the meat was so rough. Large chunks, I don't even think it was brisket. More like maybe pit bull. Nasty. Rough. No way was it BbQ'd. I didn't even eat it - Wasted my money and time bigtime. Worst "brisket" I ever had and I am not picky. But I dare you to try it. Ugh.

We just ordered some delicious barbecue from here for the first time. We got a full rack of beef ribs with three sides, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans. The ribs and all the sides were delicious! The barbecue sauce, taste, homemade, and has a nice subtle kick. The place looks fresh and clean and the gentleman I met. Seems like a really nice guy. Highly recommend you give this a little barbecue spot a try! It's smoky, delicious heaven. The ribs just melted in our mouths. I wish I could post a picture, but we ate the food so fast will have to do it next time. ;)

Always on the look out for delicious BBQ and felt like give this little spot a try. Beef ribs, yesssssss!!!! The menu is straightforward: 1 rib, 2 ribs and a rack. I completely took a chance on the rack!! My gamble paid off!!!! I placed my order: rack of beef ribs, side of collard greens ( pork-free ), macaroni and cheese and cornbread. My order, that could easily feed 4 people, was packed and handed to me within minutes!! Now, one could eat there ( small smoke joint ), but I chose to take out. I LOVE these ribs!!!! SUPER tender and delicious!!!! My sides were equally delicious!! Fast friendly service. Reasonable prices. Off street parking ( I charged at a near by Volta and walked there ). The menu also has baby back ribs ( I don't eat pork ) and other things, e.g. links. Sorry, didn't take a pic of the menu; next time. I will definitely go back there when the BBQ bug bites me!! BBQ in the Marina, come check it!!

WARNING - If you were a a Morfia's fan. Prepare to be disappointed or just save your money. Prices up. Quality down. Baby backs tough and undercooked. So disappointed in $40 rack I bought. Additionally, order was not ready on time when I ordered it a day in advance. How can there be 5 star reviews and 1 star reviews? I would guess the the 5 star reviews are friends of the new owners, or have never tasted decent barbecue.

We can mourn Morfias as much as we want but it won't come back, we need to support this new business so it won't leave us, especially when their food is decent. I only tried Beef Links (sausage) and three sides: beans, potato salad and Mac&Cheese. Pretty good. Warning: Sausage is spicy but I liked that, I liked the intricate cuts on it - so bbq sauce sticks better. The sauce was spicy too but I liked it even more than Morfias. I am into spicy. Potato salad was so savory I ate it first didn't even notice how I finished it - I licked the container ‍. Next time will order a larger size. Beans were more watery than Morfias, Mac was not as delish as Morfias. They have no pies there- and no corn bread . Instead some white Wonderbread . Hope they will start adding cornbread later. Will come back for ribs and a bucket of potato salad.

I considered calling my credit company and reporting the meal stolen because what in the world was that y'all serving? Don't waste your time or money. Ordered a chicken link and got a chicken hot dog split in half that was still not cooked.

Audition Failed! The menu had beef ribs listed. We ordered beef ribs. The order arrived, I said this does not look like beef ribs. The cook said, No They are short ribs. He also added. "I thought I was doing you a favor by giving you more meat." FYI: Beef Ribs are Beef Ribs, Short Ribs are Short Ribs! Give the Customer the option to purchase what they want and not do a Bait and Switch on them. My husband does not like short ribs. He took one bite and that blew his taste buds and appetite. The chef said, "Do you want me to give you a rib? Because were out. But I can give you some. That was a insane and backwards reply! "YEAH BUT NAWL" He asked if my husband wanted anything in place of the short rib. My husband said no thank you. The cornbread tasted like it was cooked the day before and placed in the freezer, then thawed out. I said the cornbread is cold. The chef was too busy eating and smacking near the cooking zone and looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for the item to be warmed up. It was still cold when they brought it back to the counter. We asked for a cup of ice. They said we don't have cups, ice nor plates. Hmmmm.... They just changed owners. Policy: You must pay before you eat so they lock you down with that. Over kill on the price. My husband said the baked beans taste like they were canned beans. The Mac and cheese tasted like it was made with fake Velveeta cheese. Don't waste your time, energy, money or space in your stomach. Audition Failed!

Great food and friendly guys! Owned by the same guys who have the car wash next door. The burrito was great, not as big as I was expecting for a BBQ place but still delicious. Looking forward to trying the ribs though!

Avy's bbq is my new favorite place ever! We stopped by here on a whim and we were not disappointed. Grill master John served up the most delicious ribs, beef and pork. All the sides were absolutely to die for, we're very happy we got one of everything! The sandwich had meat spilling out the sides and was packed with flavor. I literally thanked god for this food. Service was impeccable, welcoming, and super quick, and overall experience was just outstanding. Price matches the quality of the food. We will definitely be coming back again soon. Thank you so much Avy's I don't know how I lived without having this food before. 10/10 highly recommend. This food made my day. Edit: I just finished my leftovers and I'm counting the minutes until I can go back. I am just blown away by this food and so excited to go back.

Amazing barbecue!!! Last night, my favorite bestie and I came here as part of our gourmet travels. I had intended to go for some time, but somehow I didn't get there until last Monday. We were about to go somewhere else again, but I'm so happy we found this one. The barbecue was flavorful and smokey. The pulled pork was amazing and full of flavor. I had some of the greatest beef links ever. Very excellent! Definitely returning!

I was really blown away by the ribs and food of this place. We stopped at Avy's Ribs tonight for some good food to eat. I ordered a plate of barbecue ribs and tried one of their burgers and it was slammin . Great to have inexpensive barbecue on the beach. Staff are really cool here. Nice bar inside too with great drinks. Cant wait to stop by again.

Great place in the neighborhood for a quick bite! Service was fast for takeout, everything was well prepared to include pulled pork sandwich and brisket plate. This place has all the traditional sides (collard greens, mac n cheese, potato salad, cornbread and coleslaw) and they were overall pretty yummy. Macaroni is a little over cooked but still tasted good. Bonus perk was eating at the beach and having wet naps included!

Was In the area for work, was wanting some bbq chicken, I heard about this spot from co workers and decided to try it. The BBQ chicken Sandwich is Delicious! Good flavor, fresh and perfect. Give it a go.

We pulled up to Avy's BBQ at 8pm on a Sunday not expecting much because it was the end of the day and we all know how BBQ is after sitting all day. But let me tell you it was absolutely positively hands down some of the best BBQ we have ever had. The Baby Back ribs were falling off the bone and the Brisket was so flavorful and tender you could pull it apart wth your fingers and it almost melts in your mouth. Big shout out to the chef John we salute you.

Best brisket I've had in 33 years! The service was also very great. I was craving a beef link but since they had ran out of both beef and chicken links, they suggested the Brisket and I honestly can't wait to get more! The ambiance is also very homey, with a lot of street parking and a parking lot on the side!

Great food, all the sides were super tasty. The meats were very tender and juice, not dry at all! Worth trying, I like Avy's much better than the previous BBQ restaurant at this location.

Love the chicken tacos! Great amount of meat and flavor at a fantastic price. Makes for the perfect lunch.
