Aw Shucks Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

This place was on my wife's "must do while we are in Dallas" list and it did not disappoint. This was my first time here, customer service, atmosphere, and food was great. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

The food here is even better than I remember. The snow crab legs were sensational. I also had a cup of the clam chowder and it was great! Hush puppies are so good! I think they are made with cornbread mix! So they are not dry and gooey in the middle! The service is friendly and FAST! Best seafood in Dallas!

The only reason I gave them 3 stars is bc we waiting an hour for our food. The manager did refund our money and we still got to eat plus a free drink. But I was hangry hangry, and waiting an hour was not ideal. I will come back though

Worst place for a seafood boil. Reviews looked promising so decided to give it a try. Got the shucks boil, was $60 and got half a dozen raw oysters for $15. The boil had barely any seasoning, just some cayenne on top and a side of butter. Everything was overcooked, shrimp was gummy and corn was mushy. Definitely would not recommend. Go to Nate’s in Addison instead, it’s awesome there! Update: 3/7/24 Woke up to chills, fever, body ache, stomach cramps and fatigue. Pretty sure I got mild food poisoning. Update: 3/8/24 Melissa the GM reached out and I was able to voice my concerns. Thank you Melissa, I appreciate you.

For happy hour we got 2 dozen raw oysters (fresh) and 2 orders of buffalo hot wings (super saucy and good) for a GREAT price. There is a small condiment bar with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemons, etc. for the oysters. We also got the shrimp cocktail with spicy level but it was more sweet than spicy but still tasty. Fries were nice and crisp. Rice and veggies were good after I added some cholula. The slice of key lime pie was HUGE, delicious, and tasted like a mix of ice cream and cheesecake with hint of keylime. Free parking lot too!

We drove an hour from Fort Worth to visit. The service was great, and so was the food and cleanliness of the establishment. The young man at the counter suggested a mango chamoy margarita drink that was absolutely delicious! It's hard to find quality seafood and oyster bar in FW with good drinks and affordable prices, so I will definitely be back to visit.

I’ve been here plenty of times and the fried food is 10/10 but the seafood broil is 1/10 they broil the seafood in water and then just season it after I guess l, do not recommend the broil the drinks and fried food I do though! Other than that chill place!

I'm from the Midwest and didn't know what I was walking into. They're super friendly and love making suggestions for what to order. Their lunch specials are inexpe and perfect. Loved the cocktail sauce bar for the oysters. Will absolutely be return when I am back in Dallas.

The food was alright. I liked how the calamari came with a nice sauce to dip and the shrimp were on the larger side. But it felt like they dumped lots of salt and spices on top of the seafood which made it really salty and spicy. It came with one potato and corn for the crawfish. The staff was friendly and they have hand wipes near the counter when you finish eating. The food came out quickly and they have fans with mist outside to cool you down.

Amazing place the food is kick ass top tier, spicy isn't the word if that's what you like you can also tell it's a family owned little place and the service is just amazing and very cool, definitely a cool place for friends and amazing seafood

Fresh Oysters were great. Calamari and Crab bites were good, the batter they are fried in and the sauce they came with are both really good. They didn't have enough crab bites for a full order (6) but the staff was super nice about it and give us a little extra of the other stuff we ordered to make up for it! Service is quick, order at a counter, get your drinks at a counter, but they do bring your food to you! Crackers, lemons, horseradish, etc is get it yourself but some of it is also on the table (hot sauce type things)! Review is for the food I tired! Will update when I go again and try more items.

For sure a hole in the wall place, but daughter assured me that the food would be good. Who knew its a chain? She was right! Order at the counter inside and grab a table on the patio. Food was delivered quickly. Oysters were fresh, plump and delicious. The fried crab balls to die for. The fried calamari was not to my liking, a bit over fried, but daughter liked it. Will for sure try one of their boils next time I'm in town.

Tonight I went her on 4-12-24 and got the shrimp gumbo. It was overly spicy and to salty. Usually the food is really good here but the gumbo could use some work. It had mostly rice and 3 pieces of shrimp. I am from the South and know what gunbo is supposed to look and taste like. All I know is that I won't be ordering this again.

We stumbled upon this cute little shack due to a flight delay and let me say it was worth it. This place was so busy and offered a pretty extensive menu. Everything sounded delicious. Oysters 8/10 - There was a self serve station for lemons, horseradish, hot sauce, and etc. Shrimp 10/10 - The flavor was on point and had a little kick. - Shrimps we're cooked perfectly and easy to peel. - Fresh - The shrimp itself had a sweeter after taste than the ones in Cali. Sausage 6/10 Only downfall was the service. They had forgotten about my order even when I checked in with them a couple times. Even so, I'd definitely come back if I were ever in the area.

The food is simply not good. Things as simple as French fries cooked wrong. I got the catfish po boy's and my order was wrong and had a ton of shrimp on it. They remade it my order and the hush puppies and fries were old and cooked long before my catfish was fried (I watched them). I would probably not return.

Oh Man! This place has a Great Happy Hour deal! 5 Jumbo Shrimp $5 Bucks order as many as you want! Draft beer $3 bucks order as many as you want! As long as someone else is driving LOL my Husband had a Shrimp Poorboy said it was Great! Check Um Out! Cheers

Happy hour is the best hour, especially when the food is good and the beers are cold!! Was passing by and decided to drop in and wasn't disappointed! I will say that parking at times can get a little tricky. You go inside, place your order and then take a seat until they call your name to come get your food. We got a pound of crawfish, two orders of fried shrimp and some beers. Absolutely delicious!!! Definitely will be back!!

Great seafood in a quirky setting! Counter service works great. We go often! Highly recommend the Mexican shrimp cocktail!

went to this place on a Wednesday night and it wasn't crowded at all. When we got there i noticed a big roach moving its wait to the front door. i went inside anyway and placed my order and was suprised that it didnt,take forever for it to come out. it was srill hot when i got it and the server was really friendly. i will be coming back to this place because it is so much better then big shuks. The price of food could be a little lower but they do give you a lot to eat so thats a+.

Love this place, it's as simple as that. A true Dallas institution. As a former Dallasite who lived in the neighborhood, this was one of those bi-weekly or multi-month visits for me for years. I've been gone from the area for 5 years now, but every trip back I try to make a trip to Shucks to feed those cravings. The shrimp cocktail is a must, the fried catfish is always on point, and the lunch specials are a great deal if you're ever in the area. Even their grilled options, like the fish tacos, are always fresh and great. I've never had some of the more seasonal items like the crawfish, oysters, or crab legs, but every time i'm there someone has those going on - so I imagine they are great. Post-pandemic, they have upped their options for drinks and it's now pay as you order vs pay before you leave but outside of that this place has gone pretty well unchanged and quality it still there and still as solid as ever. Shucks or bust.

Food is good and prices are fair. Like that they have options for people who don't like seafood. The wings and the fries are good.

Over 15 years ago my husband and I came here on our first date. It was good then and still good now. We have had their ceviche, oysters (both raw and fried), and fried shrimp. All tasted fresh. I like how they have these postcards on the tables with cocktail sauce recipes for you to try. The only really frustrating thing about going to eat there is the parking. Because of its location there is very limited parked and sometimes customers don't know how to park their car.

First and the utmost last! Don't know if it's due to some establishments trying to maintain or My pallet is more sensitive to taste since the pandemic. One thing for sure is that I still keep it real y'all. And it's been a minute since my last review. But listen.........WTF is all the Yelp about with this place!?! First I placed my order around noon through UberEats to pickup at 5pm and they had it ready around 1:30. After the mistake and $30 wasted on Catfish, Shrimp, Chicken Strips, Fries, Extra Pups and Pie Aw Shucks recieves the first worst CLUCK of the year award. YUCK!!!

I usually don't write reviews but I feel Aw Shucks needed one from me. From the customer service to the food everything 10/10. I had the shrimp po boy it never disappoints and be sure to get a slice of the key lime pie! They had heated seating outside as well if you didn't want to sit in !

Worst oysters I ever had food is very pricey and bland . My oysters were so small I almost thought it was fried okra . I would never eat here again . I gave them 2 stars because the key lime pie was delicious.

Service was great but the boiled seafood was not. If you're from a coastal Cajun city where seafood is prominent you will not enjoy this place.

Masriscos soup: not what it used to be, not as spicy..almost flavorless. You will have to add you season to add flavor. The fish is now tilapia and not catfish. The shrimp is now shelled instead of out of shell like is use to be. A year ago they offered the catfish and shrimp caldo soup that's was perfection, that kept you wanting more. Maybe they have a new cook?! The blackened catfish although a tad salty it was cooked well, the rice is also a little bland. The veggies are cooked great, still has crunch. The fried fish basket was good well with good season Service was great!

For the price point this is 5 stars any day, however if you come at the wrong time (weekends at 7pm) I can see the wait being a drag. But, it's fun being at a busy place on the weekends right?! Oyster Po'Boy was on-point, and for those that said it is small, I've never in my life had a Po'Boy that was big enough (they're not a Subway foot-long, so stop the whining). Hush puppies were a smidge stale, but given this is a one stop shop for all things Southern seafood, the other menu items and ambiance more than make-up for it. I'm coming back and telling my friends how good this is... that's the sign of a 5 stars spot!

I visited Aw Shucks for lunch while waiting for my Airbnb and it was a great place to enjoy a good meal and sit outside! They have plenty of seafood options, including different proteins and cooking methods. I ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which I was told was a house favorite. It was so good! You can order it mild, medium or spicy so I got the medium which had a good kick! The shrimp was good and plenty of it. I also got the Fried Shrimp basket that included 8 shrimp, 2 hushpuppies, fries and coleslaw. It was a large portion and everything was very tasty! For dessert, they only had the key lime pie so I tried that. It came with a huge portion and was very good! It's a pretty small place with only a few indoor bar seats but plenty of picnic tables outside so great place to visit on a nice day! The service was great and it wasn't too crowded during a weekday lunch. It was a little loud with the traffic since it is right on the main road but otherwise it was a great environment.

Been coming here for years I always get their catfish basket and it's the best. Always cooked fresh and fast no matter how busy it is. Best margs as well. Definitely a great place to go on a sunny day.

Crawfish was not good. Really?! A sauce on crawfish? No! Better just boiled and made right.

The ceviche and shrimp cocktail are phenomenal. Simple as that. The gumbo is good, too. I haven't explored the full menu.

Best seafood joint in Dallas. Have been eating at Aw Shucks for decades! Best wings around and great margaritas. The summer platter is THE BEST!

I have been coming here since I was a kid and even though it's a drive, I love coming here and enjoying my meal on a warm day. It can get crowded, so I am glad they offer Valet parking because parking can be a struggle. Don't carry cash? that's okay because they accept cashapp, Venmo, and Apple Pay as well. Aw Shucks used to go by the honor system where you could just eat and pay for it all in the end, but they no longer do that and ask for you to pay when you order, like most restaurants. They offer seafood, or course, but they also offer wings, tenders, sandwiches. I personally don't like seafood, but I love their Buffalo wing basket and steak fries. So good & I definitely recommend. My son likes the shrimp and my husband enjoys the gumbo, yes, even in the heat. It's that good! Even though you order and pick up your food at the counter, a nice gentleman kept coming by to make sure everything was good and would take our plates as we finished. It can get kinda pricey, so unfortunately we don't visit as much as we would like, but it makes for a nice day date or a special occasion.

Food: 4.5/5 Atmosphere: 4.5/5 Food: After seeing this suggestion many times on my app, I decided to finally give it a try; great decision! I ordered both the Scallop Platter and a Catfish Filet because I couldn't decide :) the Scallops were AMAZING!! They give you a decent amount of scallops, especially for only $14, and they are very good; great flavor and the rice and veggies were also great. The only small complaint is that the dish is too oily and buttery. The Catfish was golden brown to perfection -- It wasn't seasoned much though. Still a good choice especially for $5 by itself. Atmosphere: The setup is indoor seating, a few "bar-ish seats" and patio seating. The patio has heat lamps and a shade for colder or rainy days. You order first, sit, eat, and then pay -- honor system. It's a very laid back, chill environment that I really enjoyed!

Two stars for fast service and 1 star for the ambulance. The tables were small and sticky!. I ordered the crab boil with the crab legs, shrimp, sausage and corn. The food was cold and crab legs and shrimp was over cooked. The food was sprinkled with a very spicy powder and seemed to be cooked in just water. No effort for flavor at all. The meal served two people but they only provide one crab cracker and did not provided bibs and nothing else. First and only visit for me.

Aw Shucks is a great place. I went on a Friday night and surprisingly it was not as crowded as it used to be. There is a valet for the small parking lot. You walk in and then go into an additional room to order. There is plenty of staff there to assist you. So much that the food is ready in no time. They bring it to you. The wifey and I had the fried catfish and shrimp baskets. They were pretty good. The fish was coated well and they both were thin, but not too thin to where you could taste no fish. I have had that before. I added an additional fish to mine to make two. If there were anything I didn't like it was the sauces. The ketchup and tarter sauces tasted homemade or an off brand. And as for the cocktail sauce they have you make your own with ketchup and horseradish. I was not aware of that mixture, but it was good and tasted just like cocktail sauce. All in all a good experience. It is outside, but well heated to where you will be fine in the cold. Go an enjoy here.

This place was soooo good!! Catfish was JUICY, shrimp was PHAT, calamari was CRISPY, and fries were so FRESH. Food came out quickly, everything was delicious.

This is one. Of My favorite places to eat when I'm visiting Dallas, it's a tradition to eat there and it's never a disappointment. If you're looking for ambience, this is not the place to go. It's very casual and I love it! Had my usual shrimp cocktail and ceviche. The shrimp cocktail was superb!! The ceviche was just ok, I've had better. My date had the fried shrimp, it was just "ok It's a cheap place to eat and worth the drive! They need to expand their beer list. Service is ok.'order at the counter and it's delivered to your table pronto. I'm a fan so I'll always go back!

This is one of my go to spots!!! I love the fish and shrimp combo basket. They also have some of the best frozen margaritas. Service is always prompt and there is never a long wait. While I wish they would season their fish - I add ketchup and hot sauce and it is fine.

I came back here because my friends love it and was just expecting the same. But I was proved wrong! I had a exceedingly better experience here. We came during happy hour and the margaritas are delicious! They are really strong and such a good bang for your buck! These are the best hush puppies in town, no question. The service was so good this time it was like a 180. I'm really happy I can enjoy Aw Shucks again! Thank you for my experience!

This place has always been one of my favorites. The staff is always fast and friendly. If you like seafood and you like to people watch, this is the place to visit. It isn't very big. The inside is super small but there is adequate seating outside which is covered. The food choices vary from fried seafood baskets which includes a combination of seafood if selected and French fries. They have an honor system. You order your food at a register; eat your food, there will be no ticket given to you by a server. When you are done with your meal, you go to the register near the exit and tell the cashier with you ordered. Talk about trust-please don't cheat the server. The cost is kept down because people are usually honest about their complete order. If you are not into fried foods, there is gumbo and boiled combinations to suit your taste buds. This is a must try place if you are looking for some good seafood. Get there early because finding a parking space close can be a problem on weekends around lunch time.

I've been coming here for years & little has changed. That's a good thing! This is VERY casual, not fancy, not a place to go on a first date! Family friendly plain & simple. Food is always fresh & hot, and the employees are friendly. Great Dallas experience.

What a complete disappointment! I was craving seafood after a Cardiology appointment and Aw Shucks was in the vicinity and they just opened at 1100. We were the 1st customers at 1100 and were greeted at the register. We ordered the 1 lb Spicy Garlic Snow Crab and 1 lb Spicy Garlic Hot Shrimp. Sitting outside in the makeshift patio with plastic walls and barriers, it took no time before the food was cold and the Garlic Butter started to coagulate. The Crab was sweet and tasty, having to rush to eat it warm, but the Head-on Shrimp was a complete turnoff! Half the Shrimp were inedible after peeling the heads off they turned to mush in your fingers trying to get the shells off. Half of the shrimp were curled up like and solid texture, the other half were straight and mush! I'm sure at a better time this place may have earned it 4.5 Stars on Yelp, but they don't deserve even 1 Star after the rotten shrimp and disinterested service.

My family and I have been going to this location for as long as I can remember, the food is always great! I would have gave a 5 star review but I've noticed that recently the portions of food have been really off, for example I always make sure to order the hot wings, which come with a side of fries. On this particular occasion my meal (that I took to go) came with about 10 fries, which is ridiculous. Still delicious but my expectations are non Short of excellence, as it's always been! Btw my husbands meal also came with very very few fries!

I can't say enough about this piece of Shack... literally, there is enough room to order inside and a few bar like seat along the windows and in front of where you order but dont let that put a sour taste in your mouth. The front and side or the shack has plenty of room the picnic tables were a lil cramp... but let's get to the important part.. I ordered the shrimp & oysters. So fresh! They definitely hit the spot. My husband ordered a lb of crab legs( he dug right in. Didnt have a chance to snap a pic) and we had kiddos with us and tgey shared a basket of wings... I snuck one. Okay 2... they were Bomb.com!! We didn't forget the Margaritas. Yup those were good too. Also, they have the honor system there. Order. Eat. And then tell them what you ordered and pay. That was a nice touch. All n all. A fantastic place.

This used to be a great little place for inexpensive seafood. The staff was ok, but the oysters and the grilled shrimp sticks were awful! Horrible! I'm very disappointed!

Totally disappointed and food was over seasoned and over fried!!!!!! the crawfish where so small the shucking just wasn't worth it. The fried oysters where so over fried they where uneditable. Never coming back.
