Everyone knows famous spots like Ippudo, but in the U.S., many people don’t even realize that Hakata ramen is its own category — it’s not just “ramen.” Nishida Shoten is one of those places where you can truly taste what Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen is about. The broth is rich and satisfying, the noodles pair perfectly with it, and the chashu adds a serious level of comfort and flavor. This place deserves way more love. If you’re a tonkotsu ramen fan, please try it and support them.

Amazing ramen broth and cocktails! We had three different types of ramen and three different signature cocktails. Everything was awesome and the service was amazing. We also appreciated that the music was in the background so we could enjoy having a conversation. Highly recommend!

Nishida Sho-Ten Ramen gave us such a fun and memorable night out that I can’t give them anything less than 5 stars. A group of six friends and I went there for happy hour, and from start to finish, everything was excellent. The sake during happy hour was smooth and delicious, and the appetizers were absolutely perfect — the kind of dishes that keep everyone reaching for more. The food overall was full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and served hot and fresh. Every plate that came to the table impressed us and kept the energy of the night going. We enjoyed everything we ordered, and it all paired so well with the drinks. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, making it a great place to gather with friends. What truly stood out, though, was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive, warm, and welcoming, making sure our group had everything we needed and never missed a beat. Their friendliness and professionalism really made the evening special. We left full, happy, and already talking about when we’ll return. All the food we ordered was fine. Nothing stellar. Came here for lunch and had the black garlic tonkatsu that was satisfying, but did not “stand out”. Tried the broth of some friends ramen, Red Spicy, and Tantan - both were good. The rice in the bowls seemed to be jasmine instead of Japanese short grain… Would come back if I was in the area, but not rushing back.

Learned it was a sister restaurant of the beloved Nishida sho-ten ramen shop on 49th street. And went for an emergency ramen after work during the cold snap. Quality bowl of ramen, prompt, friendly service, staid counter service upfront, wild cyberpunk tokyo mural in the back dining room w/ the full bar. Next time looking to try more of the deep menu of izakaya standards. In all: Worth a go

The chicken skin gyoza were interesting and definitely worth trying, the okonomiyaki felt a little soggy and under cooked but it had yakisoba at the bottom which was good. Black garlic ramen was decent but a little too salty.

Never been here before - thought I'd try it as the place was in a convenient spot to where I had to meet a friend. When i got there, I didn't realise there was seating until right at the end when they opened a curtain, showing a massive space. Pricing wise it was pretty good. Bento boxes range from $9 to $15 - all I assume is freshly made as we waited a bit for it to be made.

I visited this ramen spot because I was craving ramen, and it turned out to be quite an interesting experience. Once you step inside, you'll notice there are two sections: one for takeout with its own menu posted upfront on top and another for dine-in, separated by a curtain, which offers the full menu. From the outside, you wouldn't expect it to look this way. They have both tabletop and booth seating; I was seated at a booth. It wasn't very busy during my visit, so I'm not sure if reservations are typically needed. I ordered from their new special menu, a serving of cold tan tan ramen. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it came with a small bowl of vinegar on the side. I actually enjoyed it; it was something different and refreshing. They have several other ramen options that I'd like to come back and try.

Many would walk past this place thinking it's just a take out but they'd be wrong! There's restaurant seating in the back, with a few booths for 1 to 2 people. There's a communal table if you have a bigger party. I ordered the black ramen, which had 2 thin slices of pork, half an egg, and 1 bok choy leaf. The broth was perfectly seasoned, the wavy noodles had the perfect texture (may be slightly too al dente for some), and the portion was exactly right. I was disappointed by the leaf of bok choy though. Service was quick and friendly. So glad I found this place.

Friendly service. Food comes out quick which is appreciated for Midtown lunch. Ambience is modern Asian. Darker dining space hidden from the bright foyer. A few small booths along the wall, a large long communal table and a few seats along the bar. Interesting decor, including some anime and video game character masks that I swear I've seen at a different ramen spot too. Some Japanese posters along a wall and a massive mural on the other side. Decent value lunch special where $3 adds on some gyoza or mini rice bowls along with noodles or other entrees. Unfortunately it's all just underwhelming. The white ramen broth is weak, missing intensity in flavor and depth. The noodles smelled too strongly of lye. The pork was weirdly sweet and also chewy. The marinated egg was the most flavorful part of the bowl but it had clearly been cut some time ago. I like their Midtown east location but this one is missing something. There's plenty of lunch competition in the area and even on this street alone so they'll need to step it up.

I popped in for a late lunch. The front room is small and unremarkable. For a casual lunch, I don't expect more. However, I was seated in the back room. A long, narrow room with a cool vibe and fun music playing at volume. A pleasant surprise. I ordered the TanTan ramen which has a pork and miso flavor which is rich and savory. I could have used a little spice but I enjoyed it as is.

After my favorite ramen place closed I have been in a mission to find another place that fit to my Japanese taste. This place is very good, authentic ramen. They deserve better reviews.

Amazing ramen, like tokyo. Had the white tonkotsu ramen and yakitori. Broth and noodles were excellent.
