Awa - Review - Miraflores - Lima - The Infatuation

"Awa offers a refined take on Amazonian cuisine in a space designed to draw you into the jungle. There are rich woods, vibrant orchids, lush plants, and a hand-painted mural. It’s the ideal setting to devour dishes that fuse bold flavors of the Amazon with the criollo spirit. That translates to river fish charcuterie, including a brilliant paiche ham, rich rice with cecina or juane de pato, and short ribs covered in a grilled ripe plantain purée, cacao nibs, and pickled banana blossom. Creativity spills over into the bar, too, with cocktails made with Amazonian ingredients, like camu camu. RESERVE A TABLE" - Paola Miglio

We walked in with my husband, not high expectations besides the high reviews online, we were surprised with the friendliest face ever “Stephany “ We sat, read the menu, ask for suggestions based in our taste and were surprised with the most amazing experience! The chef also came to our table say hi and explained the restaurant concept. Everything was delicious, food, cocktails, Peruvian wine ( first time trying it ) service and atmosphere! Highly recommended!!

Can I just say - wow! For an American, this was such an incredible lunch dining experience with historical explanation of foods sourced directly from the Amazon rainforest. The staff was incredible, the location was fantastic, and they provided a number of options for non-seafood eaters.

Nice restaurant. The chaufa Amazonico was más favorite, the empanadas were also very nice and the bao too. Found it overpriced though compared to other Amazonian restaurants in Lima. Flavours are interesting. Missing a bit of punch.

The best meal I had in Lima! Absolutely incredible flavors, presentation, atmosphere, and friendly + professional staff. I can't stop thinking about the Tiradito and Cocoa Nib Steak. Their cocktail menu was also impressive—unique drinks at the level of a top 50 cocktail focused bar for sure. Very reasonable prices for the flavors and overall experience you get (~$50 USD for my share of food + two cocktails + dessert)

Better visit this restaurant soon before it‘s part of the worlds top 50, because that‘s where it belongs. Amazing unique kitchen. You will love it 100% guaranteed! Food from the Amazon at i‘s best! Congrats to the team for such an experience.

Restaurant inspired by ingredients from the Amazon. The chef is incredibly talent and such a sweetheart. We had one of our best meals here and every dish was a burst of flavour!

We found this place by accident but it was a very pleasant surprise. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. All the produce comes from the Peruvian Amazon. Thoroughly recommend.

Get to AWA before it catapults to fame! Two of us were easily able to get in for a weekday lunch - for now. Cuisine inspired by the Amazon jungle with unusual ingredients. No potatoes on the menu, which is a first for us in Peru! Dishes are assembled with thought, balancing a range of textures, tastes and ingredients. But it's not so fussy or complicated as to overwhelm. Service was excellent. The friendly waiter speaks fluent English and engages easily. He spent time explaining the dishes and that helped us appreciate all aspects. Cocktails are prepared with flair. Super yummy. The pisco sour packs a punch. This restaurant has already won awards but is flying under the radar for now. The only way is up.
