I loved stopping in here for coffee with my friend. I’ve had it on my list for a while and now I definitely will be going back. The coffee was great, service was friendly and I really liked the handwritten motivational messages on cups. The breakfast sandwiches we ordered were also good and warm. I already recommended the cafe to my friends who are looking to support genuine small businesses in Detroit. Please do the same! You will not be disappointed.

This is my first time being here. God brought me here because I need to read my Bible and hear worship songs and meet Faith Filled Friends and sure enough I found it all here. Thank you Friends for this Lovely place. They are such a wonder ful people here.

✨Google Guide Review✨ This is one of my go-to places to be able to get work done for business while in a quiet, ducked off space. The food is reasonably priced and drinks are made perfectly especially drinks with oat milk or almond milk. I purchased the Turkey Sausage Ford Wrap with an Iced Caramel Latte with Oat Milk. The wrap wasn’t too bad. I love spicy food so a little kick with the pico wouldn’t hurt. The Iced beverage was amazing and the quote that was put on the sleeve was very timely, “Protect you peace”. This is a peaceful place to eat, work, and enjoy great food and ambiance. 🙏🏾

Wonderful cafe with very decent prices! Amazing cinnamon rolls, good coffee and an incredibly laid back place for either meeting up with friends or working on a laptop. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I’m starting to become a regular and that’s a first!

Awake cafe has been a favorite of mine for years. The manager John has been an incredible testament of the business leadership here. The staff provides exceptional customer service, drinks are great. I highly recommend this as a go-to spot for a fresh cup.

Stopped in for a coffee and breakfast wrap. Everyone here is so friendly and nice. Food and coffee was great! Starbucks who??? Can't wait to visit again! (I dug in and forgot to take a pic of the food)

Amazing Coffee, Relaxing Atmosphere, and Great Service! This coffee shop has quickly become my favorite spot. The seating environment is incredibly relaxing – spacious, cozy, and perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done. The coffee here is outstanding; rich, flavorful, and brewed to perfection every time. You can tell they truly care about the quality. The food is also a real treat, complementing the coffee perfectly. The staff? Absolutely wonderful. Everyone who works here is warm, friendly, and makes you feel right at home. I’ve lived close to this cafe for a year and decided to try it out today. I LOVED it! I ordered an iced mocha latte and asked the manager for one pump of mocha. It was perfect! The espresso was tasty and the drink was perfect. I literally said “wow” when I sipped it for the first time. I will be a returning customer!!! Cannot wait to come back and try more items. They extended their hours and are now open until 7 PM (the kitchen closes at 2 PM). The manager was really friendly, too and we had a nice little chat. 10/10 experience overall! My new fav cafe!

Love it here!! Service is friendly, quick, and they even brought my food out to my table. It can be hard to tell at some places- but I believe the baristas here are pretty good. No loud milk steamer mishaps- very smooth milk texturizing on the hot lattes I've had. Not to mention the food! I had a breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and was impressed. The prices are a little cheaper than some other establishments so I was nervous it would show in the food- but it was delicious!! Great place to come for a chill time with buddies or even quiet work or studying. Music is on the quieter side and vibe is relaxed. There are also two rooms- the main hot/cold bar room upon entrance has seating and also an additional only seating room with a large bookshelf free to use during your stay. Facilities and entire guest area was very clean!! Note: there is no parking lot. This establishment is located on Third St in Midtown and if you can walk or use transit I'd recommend it. It's likely you will not get street parking right in front of the business

PRODUCTS. Copetic. Very good scone with cream cheese. Tender and flavorful. Daily coffee was average. SERVICE. Friendly! Accommodating with providing cream on side for coffee. AMBIANCE. CUTE. Quiet like a college library. Studious. Lots of outlets for charging devices. Artsy decor. Plants brightened the place. Seats about 30? Homeless loitering around outside. OF NOTE. Street parking in DETROIT. So, park at your own risk and hopefully your car won't be ticketed, stolen or broken into, even if you have insurance. Overall... Good.

This place was a find! Great breakfast sandwich and really good coffee. We picked up a 1-2 dozen pastries for our meeting! All good!

Such a cute coffee shop they have monthly specials the staff was very informative and the drink of the month was so good. I got a cinnamon toast crunch latte with oat milk and it was delicious. Will be back to try the next monthly special . It's the hand written messages for me on the cup

The Awake cafe in Detroit definitely kept me up and moving. I enjoyed the aesthetic of the establishment. It provided ample seating of various varieties as well as a friendly staff and variety of merchandise options. I enjoyed the forest Avenue sandwich which offered some delicious pickles on the side. The staff was so welcoming, helping me determine which drink to purchase for my first visit. This café is a beautiful option to study meet friends or enjoy the music. There was free parking both in front of the establishment but also across the street. I would like to note this is street parking so on busy days it may be hard to find. I also enjoyed at the entrance they offered a variety of local events and vendors advertisements. Another amazing facet is the fact that there are outdoor seating areas for you to enjoy your coffee on a warm summer day. Check this location out if you are in Detroit near MGM Grand area.

Great atmosphere and excellent coffee and food! I particularly enjoyed their yogurt parfait, which was layered with honey/granola/fruit bits and made with care - not just a bunch of toppings on a cup of yogurt as many "parfaits" are made.

My friend and I stopped by the Awake Cafe to pick up breakfast before heading to Belle Isle to eat it. The cafe had a warm and friendly feel to it so we decided to sit down and stay awhile. The staff was super nice and accommodating. We asked if there was outdoor seating. At the time, there wasn't, but before we left, they'd set up tables and chairs outside so people could enjoy the weather. I thought the staff's quick response to customers' requests was admirable. The coffee was well-made and delicious. Totally worth the trip. I had a toasted Asiago bagel with cream cheese, which was wonderful. My friend ordered the Ford Ave. breakfast sandwich. She swears it's the best breakfast sandwich she's ever eaten. This is really saying something since this gal eats ALL her meals out. I also thought the pricing on the breakfast sandwiches was very reasonable. If you're looking for a cafe with great food and coffee, a chill atmosphere, and friendly staff, check out Awake Cafe.

I tried the Frosted Oatmeal Cookie Latte and I really liked it. I like how you could taste the flavors and sweetness but it didn't drown out the coffee flavor. It didn't turn the coffee into a dessert. I got an everything bagel. I like to drown my bagels in cream cheese so i got an extra on the side but i think it's convenient that they put it on there for you so someone who may be on the move, trying to get to work or school can just open it and start eating without the hassle. Customer service was good. It's such a nice space to do homework in or even sit in the back area and read a book. I really like this spot. I'm glad I was able to check them out.

I pass by AWAKE Cafe ALL the time as it's on my AM commute. I only recently went inside for the first time. I got a Breve latte with 2 kinds of syrup and the baked oatmeal. I was impressed with their food options as most are not as extensive as theirs. First impression: i think it's a good, secondary place to go. Not sit and work (seating is not ideal for me), but stop by for breakfast and a decent beverage. I won't knock it because the independent coffee shops are struggling in this area in particular. However, there are better places to go in the immediate vicinity I'd be more likely to support due to the "vibe" being better elsewhere Just my personal experience as a local ! (And a black woman)

Despite frequenting the area, this was my first time here. I met a friend here to catch up and have coffee. It is a quaint and cozy space. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. After asking a few questions about my coffee experiences and preferences, I ordered a Mocha latte at their recommendation. I found the handwritten note on the sleeve to be a special touch.

Stopped for a coffee and cinnamon roll. Coffee good. The cinnamon roll was good. They were nice enough to warm it up, and skip the icing (which can make it too sweet for me). It is a nice vibe with tall ceilings, and soft indie music playing in the background. There are Sayings are posted throughout. There is lots of seating with a counter, couches, tables and a fireplace area. Good space for working or meeting someone. It was not busy on this Saturday later in the morning.

Nice place to work with ample seating and enough outlets and extensions for laptop and phone chargers. The music is not loud at all. It's typically very quiet inside but it does get a bit busy during lunch hours. The ingredients taste so fresh, the coffee and the food are always sooo good. I highly recommend trying their cinnamon roll! My favorite drink to order is an iced latte with caramel and coconut syrup -- not too sweet, and it tastes amazing. Other food items I recommend: the Willis avenue, the Woodward avenue, their spicy chipotle breakfast sandwich. Only downside is that they close early, but they do open pretty early for folks who want to grab a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich before work.

Great coffee, good breakfast, friendly employees, great vibes! Highly recommend this coffee shop. Plus, when you check in on yelp they give you a free coffee! We ordered a cinnamon roll and breakfast sandwich on an Asiago bagel. They had games available to play, and lots of tables. It would be a great place to sit and get work done also. There was plenty of free street parking right outside the coffee shop.

This place has limited parking but it's amazing in two ways cz i ordered two things. A vanilla iced latte (9.9/10) and an everything bagel with cream cheese that was so abundant and crunchy (10/10). Wish I could come here everyday.

A hidden gem off of 3rd street in Midtown! People, I'm going to need you to venture a block or two off of Woodward and Cass to sample some of Detroit's best eateries. I had the pleasure of *literally* stumbling into Awake following a weekend morning run. Not only was their food tasty (I was a fan of my avocado toast and oranges + their delicious homemade granola bar) but the staff has actually started to create our running crew specialty items like Runners Toast (avo toast with egg) for some of our regulars. This friendly, home like atmosphere is felt the second you step foot in the shop. We were told by the staff that Awake doesn't have a singular owner and actually functions as a collective model which was really cool! The back room has a plethora of books and board games for you to try out as well as some comfy seating. In sum, this is a great cafe/coffee shop but also just a really neat spot to hang out or meet up with friends. Street parking is available.

Friendly staff, chill vibe, no-hassle wi-fi, great coffee, and a yummy breakfast sandwich. A remote worker can't ask for much more than that!

The ambiance is great, very homey feeling with some couch seating and fireplace and tables as well. We had a group of 5 people so the service to make the drinks was a little slow and we had to wait about 10 minutes but we weren't in a rush. The cappuccino was burnt tasting (took a star off for that), but the cinnamon roll was fantastic! Definitely tasted homemade.

I had no idea this cafe existed until today. I was planning to stop by Tou & Mai for smoothies, but Tou & Mai's hours have temporarily changed, and it was closed. Luckily, I searched for smoothies on the Yelp app and AWAKE was only minutes away. The mango smoothie with oat milk (there is also the option of almond milk substitute) was delicious. The café is small and cozy. The customer service is excellent. I also like the individually handwritten affirmations on each cup. It's so much nicer than getting a cup with your name misspelled or something else that is offensive. I will be returning to try more items on the menu. For downtown, the menu is reasonably priced with sandwiches and salads under $8 and breakfast for under $5.

If you are ever in Detroit near the cash corridor, I highly suggest checking this place out. They have hands-down some of the best coffee I have tasted in the city from the roast to the bean sourcing to the staff not to mention if you are hungry they have some of the best bagels I have ever had. I'm not sure if it's the cream cheese that makes the bagel seeing as how I've never had them apart, but if I had to make a suggestion, it would be to get the tomato basil, cream cheese! The atmosphere is perfect too if you just need a place in the morning to catch up on some paperwork or get something done before you head into the office!

Expect THE BEST customer service at Awake Cafe! I always get a latte with almond milk and it's always great. Their new menu items for Spring, especially The Forest vegan sandwich on house made sourdough bread is delicious! The coconut chia seed pudding is wonderful too!

Awake has the best dirty chai latte! If you love cinnamon, you will love this latte. Plus, all the workers are so pleasant and helpful. It's also such a cozy place to relax or to work. Highly recommend!

I've been the past 3 days in a row and I would have gone today as well if they were open Sunday's! This cafe is a total hidden gem but IMHO has better coffee than Great Lakes (which I live closer to but go out of my way to get coffee here instead to give perspective)! The staff is always friendly and my drinks are always spot on. The inside is cozy and has several seating options if you wanted to work or study here (very quiet and not bustling) and there is free street parking in front as well. I also love that all of their drink sleeves they wrote motivational or cute messages on :)

Great place to conduct a business meeting or catch up with an old friend. I had coffee and it was extremely strong. It's a little pricey as well.

Went here this morning for the first time. Grabbed some house blend coffee which was excellent and a Fruit Parfait which was truly one of the best I've had highly recommend. I tried a cinnamon and spiced something latte which was a little too sweet. I wish I capture the inside of the place. Awake Coffee has this subtle and super calming vibe I've never experienced in a cafe. Soft music, lit fireplace, and everyone was very soft and nice. Will definitely be coming back

So, the thing is, the coffee is decent, the cinnamon rolls are fantastic, and the service is always friendly. But they are actually evangelical missionaries who opened a cafe near campus with the intention of converting students to evangelical Christianity. On the church website, they say this openly, but on the cafe site and in the cafe, they hide this fact.

This coffee cafe has amazing coffee. There is an extended room with a wall of books and a large seating area. The baristas were very kind, patient, and professional. They answered our questions (this was our first time visiting). I ordered The Canfield pressed sandwich with turkey, mozzarella, spinach, tomato and pesto with a large coffee with an espresso shot on the side. My friend ordered The Michigan Ave with tomato basil wrap, mozzarella, red onion, tomato, Caribbean jerk seasoning and mixed greens with a large coffee. The food was fresh and prepared within minutes. The coffee was very tasty and served piping hot. The sandwiches were worth the visit alone. The Awake Cafe is the perfect spot to hangout and enjoy a cup of coffee, a latte or a smoothie with your besties! My friend and I felt welcomed and appreciated just as much as we welcome and appreciate the owners of this cafe. They could have opened up shop anywhere, but they chose Detroit! Thank you. Bring your lap tops, school work, best friends and enjoy the ambiance.

The vibe inside was so nice, calming, super kind-friendly staff. I got the breakfast wrap, coffee (free with Yelp check-in) and a cinnamon roll to go. I enjoyed the wrap outside and just the overall feel of the area. *Street parking, be mindful where you park (bus stop, fire hydrant, cross walk) I got a ticket for being too close to the bus stop (150ft min.- each sidewalk square= about 5 feet) The wrap was presented beautifully and tasted fresh (I added hot sauce.) I warmed up the cinnamon roll later, it was delish! I shared it with my friend and they raved about it! The prices online, on the printed menu and in cafe were all different, go with the highest price :)

Nice employees, cool neighborhood spot and comfortable vibe. But for some reason, they don't offer any kind of milk other than almond or whole. Never been to a coffee shop that doesn't at least have 2%. Perhaps I'm not fancy enough to understand the appeal here, but until they stock it, I won't be returning.

Staff seem very confused and disorganized. Not sure if this place just opened or what but it took forever to get an iced latte. Also, weird religious vibes.. I don't know. The latte was good though.

This is the CUTEST spot to grab a morning / mid-afternoon coffee and bite to eat. The gentleman who took my order was very responsive and helpful when deciding what I should get. I also appreciated seeing workers wiping down tables and making sure the place stayed clean and orderly. I ordered a dirty Chai Tea latte with maple spice sweetener and it was okay, not the best but definitely not the worse either. To eat, I went with The Woodward Ave sandwich with mayo and mustard. Initially I ordered a half but it was so good I grabbed another half before leaving! Super good meat slices and fresh toppings made this sandwich to die for! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying different things from the menu

Really beautiful atmosphere with lots of indoor seating. I absolutely loved the fireplace area with boardgames and coffee shop music. The employees are all really nice and hard-working. So glad I stumbled across this little coffee shop in Midtown. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the hours are really inconvenient. Would love to come back and spend more time here if they extended their hours.

I love this coffee shop. It's so cute and cozy. The staff are always sweet. Coming here is a great start to the day. Especially if you get a beverage from here, they write meaningful statements that will surely brighten your day. However the food is great too!! I usually get their deli sandwiches, I haven't tried them all but you honestly can't go wrong with anyone you select. I usually get the Cass Ave and add mayo and honey mustard. The sandwiches are always delicious. My favorite is their breakfast sandwich called Woodward Ave with bacon on everything bagel. However what won me over about this place is the coffee, I love that it's fair traded coffee beans and just freshly made.

I really like this coffee shop because it's just a straightforward coffee shop. No gimmicks. The coffee is pretty good. They make the chai tea latte wonderfully. I tried their smoothie which was solid. They do have sandwiches, fruit, and desserts availble as well. Clean interior. Plenty of seats with plugs conveniently available. The workers are pleasant. Free parking on the street. Not much to complain here!

The cutest little cafe. Great atmosphere for getting work done. The staff is extremely kind. I spilled my whole coffee here one time and they cleaned it up and remade my coffee for me, while still getting the details right. They're baked oatmeal is amazing.

Best cinnamon roll I've ever had! And it was served with a heaping helping of friendly customer service!! Hubby had the breakfast sandwich (wrap) and it was also top notch. Hubby and our high-school student enjoyed whiling away the (fairly short) wait browsing the huge map the world hanging on the wall.

This is the best coffee shop in Midtown for food, coffee and atmosphere. The walls and decor are all earth tones. There is sunlight coming in the big windows and front and a cozy area in the back with fireplace and comfortable seating. The food all appears to be homemade and delicious. I especially like the breakfast sandwiches, fruit and yogurt parfait and the baked oatmeal. I have tried the specialty coffees which rotate seasonally. The pumpkin spice latte offered in the fall was one of the best I have tried. The staff writes supportive, encouraging messages on your paper coffee cup to help you start your day. There is a back room with comfortable seating and more tables and chairs for extra seating. I have notice that the Wayne State Police and Detroit Police patronize this place. This is a good sign since police usually know where there is good food and drink and are not so concerned with the "scene" aspect of restaurants. I do appreciate the soft music in this place also. The staff is very nice also.

Great coffee. Had an americano that was fresh, mild, and nice and hot. Granola parfait was one of best I've ever had - fresh, great granola and could really taste the berries. The shop is nice and the people are really friendly

Excellent coffee to enjoy in such a cute little shop! The staff was extremely nice and accommodating since my order is always complicated. It was nice and quiet. A great place to study or to just hang out with friends. Very clean, staff is wearing masks and gloves and cleaning after everything. Will definitely be back here to study soon!
