Yelp
I went back and forth on ratings here, as there was some good and some not so good. In the end, we had a great time, so the extra star was added in for good measure. It was the second stop on a "visit places on Old Hickory Lake" tour. Probably my least favorite, but still worth the 4 stars (Moby Dick's was my number one).
There are "two" restaurants here, or at least one restaurant with an outdoor bar that has a completely different vibe. The main indoor restaurant is found down closer to the water where the boat owners' parking is, while the outdoor bar is up higher and has gravel parking for the non-boat owners.
The parking is a bit of a negative for me, as my car is low enough to scrap over the curbyou have to traverse to park. On the way out, I drove over by the stand where the hump was not as high to avoid a second beating on the bottom of my car. Yes, this is likely petty, so it is not heavy on my list of items.
Initially, the bartender was a bit preoccupied and did not take notice of us sitting there, which was a bit off putting. But, after a bit of time, it was like being around old friends. Met with two local brothers who were a real hot to talk to.
The only food I had was the cheese sticks, which are "world famous" and a bit too beer batter breaded for me, and some fried mushrooms. I am not as much of a fan of the horseradish dip, but your mileage may vary.
As for drinks, the bushwhacker is what they are known for and it is quite tasty. They come out much thicker than most places and you can add a wide variety of toppers to customize. They also have a couple of pre-mixed drinks, the Island Girl and another I forget the name of (oops!). Both served in "buckets" (larger glasses that look like a small beach bucket). not sure if the glass is supposed to be a souvenir or not, but we did not take one with.
The trick to Awedaddy's is GPS, as it is tucked away in a marina that you don't see until you are right up on it. Before you get there, you would swear you are in a residential area of the bustling metropolis (ha ha) of Gallatin. Once you are in, it feels like a completely different world. I don't live close, but I am sure I will be back at some point.
