A moderately priced dim sum chain restaurant which has tablet screen ordering. It took a bit longer than I would’ve hoped for the food to arrive, but the Soup Dumplings (xiao long bao) were of a good quality. I wish that I could say the same about the scallion pancake which was overcooked, and very hard.

The food here is fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The siu mai were juicy and well-seasoned, the vegetable dumplings had a nice texture with a delicate wrapper, and the BBQ pork puffs were perfectly flaky with a sweet-savory filling. Portions are generous and everything tasted freshly made. A great place to enjoy a variety of dim sum favorites without the long wait of traditional dim sum restaurants.

This is a Cantonese (Hong Kong Style) dim sum restaurant. The location is convenient and clean. And the staff are friendly. The restroom is clean. I have ordered a fried noodle, egg tart and bun, which are delicious. There are a variety of dim sum and good for friend gathering and share, by doing this, people can try a lot of different dim sum.

We ordered a ton of dishes, so the highlights and lowlights will be featured instead. Highlights include their house signature dumplings (shrimp, squid, and chive), the watercress shrimp dumplings, the spicy Shu Mai, the soup dumplings (xiao long Bao). The lowlights were the stuffed sticky rice in leaves, the steamed pork ribs, and the chicken feet. The restaurant is counter order style, but you just order on a tablet and go up to the counter to pay and receive your food. The restaurant is clean, modern, and pretty quick considering how everything was steamed fresh. We weren’t sure about the counter style ordering or if it’s a New York signature, but, it’s a cool concept for quick and fresh dim sum. Would definitely come back here again.

The restaurant looks nice and clean, I liked the way they deliver the dumplings but their other dishes were not as good. The chicken in the photo was very bad, it was more skin than meat and as for my friend's dish, she ordered noodles with pork and the pork seemed to fly by, there was almost nothing in it.

Was in the Gramercy area and found this dim sum spot, modern and clean right on 23rd street. I saw great yelp reviews and thought to give it a try! Was a bit nervous as this was not in prime Chinatown or Flushing area so I wasn't sure how authentic it would be. However this completely exceeded my expectations! I ordered an array of dim sum to share, chicken feet, pork buns, shrimp rice rolls, eggplant wrapped shrimp, and steamed dumplings. All of the flavors completely exceeded my hesitation. They were all well prepared and the dumplings and chicken feet came in a little bamboo steamer! It was definitely on par if not slightly better than Chinatown spots! Plus this was a clean and minus all the commotion and noise of Chinatown! So definitely a plus! Also this is a self serve place you place an order on a computer and go up front to pay. Then wait a few minutes for your food. It is very much a self serve spot. Which I was totally fine with. Overall can't wait to return! Where I don't have to schlep all the way downtown to Chinatown or cross borough to flushing for some delicious dim sum!

Cheap, fast, good!!! Great dimsums with a wide range of options. Don't get their meat dish because it was SO GREASY filled with oil. There was hardly any "meat". Stick to the dim sums!!! This is such a great fast meal for a cheap price!

The staffs were friendly. Ordered siu mai (4 pieces), soup dumplings (4 pieces), and short ribs via kiosk. You can dine in or take out. There's places to sit however, the place is usually packed during the weekday because of the college students. A little over price but, if you want convenient dim sum, it is good. Still a solid place for self service dim sum. Saved me many trips to Chinatown (where the dim sum is mediocre these days), and I like that you're free to not order hot tea (which is not possible at traditional dim sum places where they often charge per head for hot tea even if you don't want hot tea). I noticed they have a Long Island City location listed on the takeout form, asked about it - apparently it's a new location for takeout pickup.

For fast casual, I didn't know that we would get such good quality dim sum! This is what I would expect from actual dim sum places. The service is really quick and I love that you're free to just pick and choose what sauces you want. Honestly, perfect for when you want to get dim sum for takeout.

I was in the area and was craving dim sum. Although typical I would not come here to eat dim sum when I can hop on the train to Chinatown. Since it had good reviews I ventured inside. This location is clean and well organized. You order the dim sum on a screen menu. The order gets sent to the front where you pay and buy drinks as well. There is a little claw machine that you can grab a free wonton cookie that you can try to get if you ask them for a token. I order the turnip cake, steamed beef rice roll, fried eggplant shrimp ball and awesum sampler. The sampler included sticky rice, bbq pork bun, 2 har gow, crispy shrimp roll and 2 chicken sui mai. The food took about 20 minutes but it was nice and hot! I was very impressed with the dim sum. My favorites was the eggplant shrimp ball, crispy shrimp roll. Overall, the food was good. It's a bit pricey for dim sum then Chinatown but I enjoyed it and would come back if I was in the area again.

Wanted to love this place but the place fell short of my expectations :( We ordered the bbq pork puff, steamed short ribs, and siu mai. The siu mai was really delicious and reminded me of what you can get in Chinatown. Unfortunately, everything else was not too great. I was not a fan of the bbq pork puff because the char siu didn't taste too good to me. However my boyfriend said he enjoyed it. The steamed short rib was lacking black bean flavor that you would typically get with this dish. I enjoy the concept of fast casual without trekking to Chinatown but I felt the execution of the items I got were not that great :(

super solid dim sum for a reasonable price! Recommend XLB and har gow:) portions were great and the only miss were maybe the sesame balls - they were just a bit bland and greasy that day. It's pretty clean and quiet inside with a self-serve, modern feel rather than your traditional dim sum restaurant.

Came here for the awesome reviews but was pretty disappointed... First I'll say I loved the self order kiosk... but then you had to go to the cashier to pay which defeated the whole purpose to me. Why make it only partially self service ? Ambiance: It's pretty bland as far as decor but for a quick stop, mostly self service place that's fine. I came about 7pm and half the place was shut down - meaning chairs flipped up on the tables and not in use. Was really a turn off... I wasn't sure if I should stay despite their losted times saying they were definitely still open for a while. Food: The food was bland to me. I ordered 2 items and both were bland... I had never had a steamed rice roll so maybe it just isn't my thing. The soul dumplings were disappointing to me. There really wasn't any flavor and I didn't realize they would be so small (though that could be my fault - in Texas they're much larger). Despite their size I would have expected more flavor so I'm rating based on that. Value: Overall I paid about $20 for 2 items and left dissatisfied. That didn't even include a drink. I just feel like there are much better locations in NYC for vibe, price, and flavor. I'm quite surprised at the high reviews

Despite the obvious cheesy name, one of the biggest surprises during one of my last trips back was enjoying Awesum Dimsum. It lived up to the hype and made me long for fast casual dim sum near my work place (#1). It also made me realize how much I missed working in the Flatiron and the endless possibilities of incorporating this place into our rotation of repeat lunches. One doesn't have to embarrass themselves by attempting to say the dish names to the staff. Everything is ordered through a touch screen in the front and payment is done in the front. Eventually someone will call your number with the items on the tray and then you bring it back to your table. That's it. The space is narrow and group dining can be a challenge. They've done a good job with custom tables that look more like crooked counters, but there is a good amount of seating for all parties. Bathrooms are also clean and the prices are a *little* more than the average dim sum spot. The staff is definitely a Canto speaking bunch and I admire how hard and how quickly they work. The food is good and I appreciate the picture menu. I tend to expect a watered down version of things when I'm at fast casual places like this but it really holds its own compared to any dedicated dim sum spot. I really enjoyed the fried shrimp taro cake, shrimp dumplings, rice rolls, egg tarts, and baked buns. It's tremendously easy to over order here (#2). I'd go again in a heartbeat. It's not only good food but it's also a time saver for folks who are unwilling to make the trek to Chinatown or beyond. It really is a worthy option in the Flatiron. __________ (#1) Or wherever I am. I'm of 2 minds about the place. The plus is the dim sum is proper dim sum. Same as you would find at any dim sum place frequented by cantonese folks (dim sum is Cantonese. It's not a thing in the rest of china). So thats the positive. But for dim sum, its just mediocre dim sum. Timing is important in this kind of food and much it seems to have been made ahead of time & kept warm. Its hard to get the timing right for a near fast food place like this one so I understand & I'm happy that this place is here and it specializes in one thing rather than bring a generic Chinese place with fried rice and beef & broccoli. But within the dim-sum sphere, it's 3 star.

Wow what a disappointment this place was. I rarely give out a 1, but I have to in this situation. Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews both on Yelp and on Google, I decided to give this place a go. It's a no for me. My friend and I ordered $45 worth of food to split and most of it was either inedible, old, or gross. We tried: - Awesome rice roll (super thick and 0 flavor) - House fried egg noodle (was so hard and old when we went to pick it up with our chop sticks a big chunk of it broke off in one big piece) - BBQ pork puff: for something with so much visual interest, this has no flavor, no seasoning. - Soup dumplings: flavor was totally off and tasted like they had gone bad. The meat was also not cooked inside. - Fried dumpling: completely inedible and basically raw meat inside. We took one bite of each dish and promptly left. Would not recommend at all. Worse than mall food. 1/5

Came to this restaurant because of the high ratings and the variety. We came around 1pm and it was pretty busy, so we got our order to go. After ordering our food, we waited around 15 minutes. Friendly and quick service! We were a group of 4. We ordered the dimsum combo A to share and for only me, I ordered the N1. House Fried Egg Noodle combo, which came with tea and wonton soup. Combo A had a lot of food! If you order that combo alone with 4 people, it's the perfect amount. It could've even been good for 5 people. So worth it! The dry noodle combo was amazing. Simple dry noodle and the wonton soup had a lot of meat. If you're craving quick dimsum, this is the spot!

I wanna disclaim that this isn't a review to bring the business down and I'm trying to be as objective as possible. No hate! Let's start with what's good: - This is pretty much a self-service place so it's pretty chill - The prices are relatively fair, especially if you buy the set meal bundle What I bought: 1. Glutinous Rice ($6.95): This is the BEST item I bought that day. I genuinely love it. It's super flavorful and value for money. They're generous with the ingredients and it even has dried scallop in it! Would totally get this again. 2. Siu Mai ($6.95): This was okay. Nothing special but not bad. 3. Steamed shrimp rice roll ($6.95): I'll say the taste and texture is okay but portion is pretty small and I didn't like that it was served pretty cold. 4. BBQ pork bun ($5.95): Unfortunately, this was bad. Despite the bright red color, the BBQ pork had no flavor. It was downright bland and tasteless. Will definitely not get this again. 5. Pork short rib ($6.95): This was VERY bad. It has no taste, super bland, just like the BBQ pork. And I was honestly shocked to see that it's steamed with green and red peppers without any fermented black beans - isn't that the most important ingredient for this dish? Overall, my experience here was pretty bad solely based on the quality and taste of the food. I'm honestly shocked at how bad the food generally is because they have such good reviews on both Google and Yelp :/ Service was okay, nothing much to talk about since it's a self-service spot. If anything, I might go back to get the rice since it was good and so value for money.

I've never had a dim sum experience like this where you order from a kiosk and pick it up. I'm used to the traditional carts. I was surprised by how spacious this place was. It was also very clean and bright inside. What we ordered: - Har gow - one of my favorite dim sum dishes. This was pretty good - shrimp rice noodle - this was also pretty good - egg tarts - I would pass on this and go to Chinatown for better egg tarts - pork bun - too doughy for me. I would also pass - pork shu mai - also pretty good - scallion pancake - very thin and crispy I would only come if I was craving dim sum and happened to be in the area.

4.5 stars Not your typical dim sum place. No waiter service. You order at a kiosk, and then a buzzer alert you when your food is ready. Having said that you will find all your favorite dim sum staples. Price: similar to traditional dim sum restaurants. However, no waiter service. Like the combos meal option so you can try a little bit of everything. Food: Yes: siu mai, house dumpling (personal favorite), har gaw, crispy shrimp roll (other favorite) , spring roll (in between yes and eh. It was good but standard), wonton soup Eh: special chicken siu mai (bland), lava bun(filling delicious, bun didn't suit it. Just get the egg tarts) No: baked bbq pork bun (it's a biscuit crust) Overall, for the price we paid, the food was great and I would definitely go back and try other items

It offers decent food, but it fell short of my expectations. While the dishes were alright, I was hoping for a more memorable dining experience. One aspect that left me a bit disappointed was the self-service system, where you have to pick up your order at the counter. Despite this, the food was still tasty, and the flavors were satisfactory. The dim sum selection had some highlights, but it didn't quite reach the level of excellence I was hoping for.

Awesum Dimsum is so consistently tasty. I've only ordered takeout, but many times and sometimes for groups. They're fast, too. I'd always get - scallion pancakes - fried dumplings - siu mai - har gaw Try everything! Just a list of things that I've tried: - steamed and fried BBQ pork buns - choy sum - lava buns - fried taro dumplings - purple yam lava puffs - fried red bean puffs - pan fried buns - fried sesame balls - egg tarts - white custard buns - steamed shrimp rice rolls - sticky rice The lava buns, lava puffs and custard buns seem kind of unique. They're deliciously on the sweet side and I'm glad I tried them.

Been here a few times now, and I plan to come back again in the future. I love that this is like a modernized dimsum place that actually also serves delicious dimsum. It is difficult to find authentically delicious dimsum nowadays. The place is not too big and not too small, and the bathroom is always clean. I recommend their fried noodles, turnip cakes, scallion pancakes, and lava buns.

I honestly wasn't expecting much from this place, but I wad pleasantly surprised! The food was tasty and pretty true to the dimsum profile. I particularly enjoyed the congee that we got.

The food was really good. The XLB was good.. good flavor and good amount of soup. The skin was slightly thick, but that's okay. The only thing missing was dumpling sauce. I loved the dragon rice roll. This was also a little bland but still very good. The scallion pancake was also very good and maybe a little too oily. I had the peach green tea. It could have been sweeter.

Wanted to like this place but didn't have a good experience getting takeout. Came into a practically empty restaurant. Ordered 2 items, got a device and waited 4 feet in front of the worker at the register. Food was packaged by the person who took my order and put on the counter along with other brown bags. It was only after people who ordered after me got their big order, he realized I was still sitting there...waiting. Pretty pricey for small portion sizes. Probably would have been faster to go down to Chinatown and gotten better food, bigger portion sizes and attentive service.

SUPER easy to order..and CLEAN. Came here for lunch on a Friday after The Friends Experience. There's an iPad for you to place your order. If you're dining in, you'll pay at the front after ordering and if you're taking out, you'd just wait for your food or come back! Restaurant is bigger than it looks with a lot of the authentic dim sum foods. We definitely over ordered, but hey, it's dim sum, why wouldn't I order everything on the menu! Food is delicious and fresh. Service was quick- definitely a good find if you're around the area.

My girlfriend and her best friend raved about this place and we all had to come here to see what the big deal was about. The sesame balls were so good as a treat for dessert. Definitely would come back here when in the city again.

Stopped by here on a whim last Tuesday for a quick bite before a late appointment. Was pleasantly surprised with authentic delish dim sum at reasonable prices. We only had time to eat a few things and ordered S4 Sticky Rice Wrap, S11 Soup Dumplings, R5 Steamed BBQ Pork Rice Roll. Our favorite was the rice roll - so what a flavor pop! All (3) chooses were fresh and tasty. Way over our expectations for a fast food dim sum place. We are planing on going back soon!

No concern about tip as self-service I ordered as picture showed with 2 wonton soup, 1bottle of water and 1 soda drink. Totally paid 60 dollars which is over pricy rather than I expected.but taste wasn't not so bad.

I woke up one Sunday morning and was in serious need of brunch, but knew that I wanted to try something different than your typical mimosas and pancakes situation. It had been a hot minute since I went to dim sum and wanted to try somewhere new without all the typical fuss that can come with dim sum (e.g., crowds, carts, and the luck of the draw of what's available by the time the cart gets to you depending on where you've been sat), so I popped over to Awesum Dimsum at the Gramercy location. It's a highly walkable location like most others without needing too many subway transfers. I was able to walk in and quickly figure out how to put my order in via kiosk which is easy to navigate with lots of pictures and accurate descriptions of what you're ordering. Once you put in your order at the kiosk/tablet, you go up to the cashier to pay and then get your buzzer which will notify you when your order is ready. I didn't have to wait too long to get mine. I got the typical run of options that you'd look for when you go out for dim sum (e.g., rice rolls, shu mai, fried taro, and a few more options). The options came out hot, fast, and tasted fresh and the portions were decent for the price point. The tables there are honestly a little small for how cumbersome the serving dishes are (e.g., steamers, and everything else is served on little paper boats). Aside from it being a bit pricier, I was pleased with everything else from the menu of offerings, the speed at which my meal was created, the portion sizes were okay, and the eatery itself was bright and clean. For a fast-food concept for dim sum, this place is solid. I would definitely go back again to curb another dim sum craving and I'm not up for another proper sit-down meal. Would definitely recommend this spot to others looking for a quick fix.

This is a good place to get some reasonably priced dimsum if you don't have much time or if you can't make it to chinatown or flushing! It's trendy and modern with a good amount of seating, and you just go up to the counter to order. I came here on a Monday around 1:45pm with a friend, and though it was moderately busy we had no trouble finding a seat. We tried their har gow, soup dumplings, ma la siu mai, scallion pancake, fried red bean puffs and egg tarts. Our food came out really quickly, and there were sauce packets on the tray. Though nothing particularly stood out to us, everything was tasty and we enjoyed it. Our favorite was the egg tarts, as they were nice and flaky. I also liked the ma la siu mai due to its spicy kick. Come by for an easy, casual meal!

Disappointing. How does this place have such a high review? I ordered some siu mai and xiao long bao. I think both of them tasted meh and I didn't taste any ginger at all. Of course, if you really want dim sum and want it quick - this will do. But you can get something similar from frozen packaged dim sum probably.

Awesum place to grab a quick bite to go or to sit down and enjoy some decent dim sum. 2 self-riding stations to place your order and then pay upfront at the cash register. Good selections of dim sum items. The seatings inside are simple, modern and clean. Very chill and relaxed vibe.

I was impressed by the variety of dim sum items that Awesum Dimsum has here. They have both traditional dim sum items as well as some unique items on theirs menu, including new items on the menu. We ordered: - Ma la siu mai - Har gow - Taro crystal bun - Steamed dragon rice roll - Chocolate bun - Purple yam lava puff - Black sesame jelly roll - Iced hibiscus tea Everything was delicious! Some of my favorites were the steamed dragon rice roll (shrimp rice roll that also has fried dough) and the ma la siu mai (spicy kick to siu mai). The purple yam puff was my favorite dessert - it came hot and crispy and had a custard filling inside I genuinely enjoyed every dish here - usually there's a dish or two that I find just ok but I thought every item I ordered here is worth trying! Come check this place out if you don't want to trek all the way down to Chinatown for good dim sum!

Big fan! I know the normal experience for dimsum is for carts to go around but affordable and yummy dimsum will almost always trump that. Came here early on a weekend and was happy there wasn't any line and the food came out very fast too. We ordered the Dimsum Combo A for 3-4 people and I thought that it wouldn't be enough so we ordered another Beef Ball Congee on the side but honestly, there was so much food we couldn't finish it at all. Honestly 5 people could eat this comfortably. I was so shocked by the portion sizes. Here are my favorite parts and other notable things: - Crispy Shrimp Roll - I know usually this dimsum is in the shape of a ball but I appreciate the long cylinder shape of this dimsum. I was a huge fan of this as I love the crispiness on the outside and the meatiness on the inside. I could just eat this exclusively and be happy! - Har Gow - I can't believe usually it's 4 for $7 where with this combo, it's around $1 for a piece. Love the thin wrapper with the full shrimp in the filling. Definitely my favorite dimsum and loved that they gave two counts of this. - Siu Mai - They had 3 different orders of Siu Mai which is maybe my least favorite kind of dimsum, so wasn't a big fan. I think they could have added a different kind of dimsum as a replacement item like Turnip Cake or Fried Crystal Dumpling. Honestly I'm surprised they don't have Chive Dumplings which I think would be a great substitute. Overall, not a bad place to get affordable dimsum in the city especially if you're looking for big portion sizes.

I don't fault the kitchen for this. I loved the PORK SPARE RIBS, just a hint of spice from the peppers and oh so tender! The much needed veggies CHOY SUM was refreshing, but I would suggest going easy on the oil. The TURNIP CAKE was also a favorite amongst the three of us, pan fried and soft. Would definitely come back for quality dim sum!

Love the Dimsum. Consistent and clean. Purcell at every table. Claw machine is always a winner with the kids. I've had lots of Dimsum and this place is definitely authentic and good quality.

Awesome Dimsum is a welcome addition to the Gramercy neighborhood. Since it opened in late 2021, I have eaten here several times and tried many assorted dim sum.
