Axel TWO Barcelona

Felt very safe and welcome as a solo traveling woman. The service was amazing and I loved the marketing concept and vibe of the hotel. The receptionists gave me the best tips for a perfect third day trip in Barcelona with some very special bars and locations! I will definitely come back! ✨

Reasonable in January, but almost everything is very positive, except for the smiles from the cleaning staff. Although their execution was not up to par. I stayed for 6 nights and passed the reception at least 25 times. Only 4, - maybe 5 times did people behind the desk bother to say hello. The rooms are well designed, unfortunately with poor quality materials. It is clearly visible now after 9 years. Nice location between the port and Gracia. About 35 min. walk each way. Have visited BCN between 30 and 40 times in the last 25 years and Axel Two scores medium, maybe a little below for a 4 star hotel unfortunately.

Stayed at AxelTWO during a trip to Barcelona with my partner. The room was comfortable and cleaned well each day and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I was however, disappointed with the atmosphere during our stay. We were hoping for a social stay and to meet fellow travellers however, the rooftop bar was closed our entire stay. While the lobby bar was open it doesn’t have much atmosphere and is not really set up for a social drink. We still enjoyed our stay however I would not stay again during the winter months. Could be more fun during summer.

Waited 15 minutes to check in as only 1 staff member on duty at 1930hrs. Check in ok , informed I had been upgraded from a premium room to a premium plus type room. The premium room I had selected was at the back of the hotel so quiet. On their pre stay email I requested a quiet room. ||The premium plus room was at the front of the hotel , there is zero sound insulation from the street , traffic at all hours, party goers chatting loudly , did not sleep at all well . The room itself is comfortable, nice bathroom. My room safe was not working, I alerted the staff member as I went out for the evening , he asked would I like it sorted out then, yes I replied. On returning to the hotel at 2330hrs the safe was still not working . Poor customer service and something that should be checked by housekeeping before the room is released . A luggage rack would also be useful . Considering a premium plus room not even a complimentary bottle of water . ||I most likely would not stay again on the basis of a very average experience . I felt the so called upgrade was actually a downgrade from the room I had booked based on location.

I booked this hotel for a short city trip, and while I have mixed feelings about my stay, I really wanted to love it. There are some great aspects, but a few elements that could use improvement in terms of practicality and convenience.||||The positives:||||The location is fantastic! The metro station is just 2 minutes away, and the express bus to the airport is only 5 minutes away (just a heads-up: the airport bus isn’t included with a regular metro card, so you’ll need to pay extra if you’ve only bought a day/mutli-day ticket). You can easily reach all the main attractions in Barcelona within minutes. Plus, the Gayxample neighborhood is a vibrant and lively area with plenty of shops, cafes, and restaurants, giving you a real local vibe.||||Check-in was smooth, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to learn I had received an upgrade, which was a lovely touch to start the stay. Throughout our visit, all the staff were welcoming, helpful, and accommodating.||||The downsides:||||- The room was spacious and had plenty of hangers and storage space, which was great. However, the layout and design were not very practical, especially if you're traveling with a partner. The shower and bathroom are separated by glass walls, and you can hear everything happening inside, which could be a bit uncomfortable for some.||||- The toiletries were disappointing. You get small tubes of shampoo, conditioner, etc., but they weren’t enough for one shower. They will provide more if requested, but this isn’t very convenient or environmentally friendly. It would be much better to have refillable dispensers on the wall.||||- This may be more of a cultural issue, but the hotel was kept quite warm, even though it was November in Barcelona, with temperatures ranging from 18-20°C (64-68°F). That’s not really cold enough to require heating, yet the air conditioning in our room wasn’t working or was set to hot. As a result, we had to keep the windows open to cool down, which could be an issue if you're a light sleeper and your room faces the street.||||- Speaking of warmth, while the hotel keeps the common areas nice and cozy for the winter months, the pool isn’t heated! So even though the pool is open, it’s too cold to swim in. However, the sauna was a nice touch and provided a good alternative.||||- The hotel markets itself as LGBT-friendly, which is great, but the design of the bathroom doesn't seem to fully reflect this. For example, it lacks a douche, which would be a thoughtful addition considering the target audience.||||Overall:||||This is a good hotel in a fantastic location with friendly, accommodating staff – and if you could get it at a reasonable price point. I would recommend it if the points I’ve mentioned don’t bother you. It’s a great option if you're looking to stay somewhere central, but there are a few areas where they could improve the guest experience.

Great hotel! First time here for my girlfriend and I, and we're more than pleased with our stay. To get the obvious out the way, we weren't aware until close to the time of our trip that the hotel is primarily 'non-hetero' focused; if you're having second thoughts or are initially put off by this, take my word for it and don't be, it literally made no difference to our stay and they have 'hetero friendly' plastered on the front doors. There are things like: the shower being purposely visible from the bed and c**doms being provided that aren't something we've experienced before, but again, it's perfectly acceptable for a hetero couple and doesn't interfere with the stay at all. 👍 As for the hotel itself, very friendly staff, clean and lovely looking rooms (also cleaned every day, just put the 'please clean' door hanger on when you leave), great location (literally 30 seconds walk from L1 metro entrance), quiet inside & surrounding area. Guest safety is clearly taken into account, your room card is required to use the elevator, which, to be honest is something I'm surprised I haven't seen before. The only negative feedback I have, despite it only effecting us once is the design of the shower floor; being a walk-in shower, it directly connects to the rest of the bathroom area instead of being raised or there being a small lip in between to stop the water, making it very easy for lots of water to escape when opening / closing the shower door. Overall though, definitely recommend 😄

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic and convenient location. The room was comfortable and very well equipped. Friendly staff greeted us on arrival and were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast is decent enough, but there are some wonderful places within a few minutes walk so if it doesn't do it for you there are plenty of options. ||The shower is great and the bathroom was very clean, but you should note that there is very little privacy - the frosted glass door to the toilet has a hole in place of a handle and the shower is fully visible from every part of the room, so only stay here with someone(s) you are truly comfortable with.

Missed of emotions… My boyfriend and I have been in this hotel about 5 or 6 times. As hotel is lovely. Great location, good rooms, nice rooftop with a pool etc. The big downside is the admin While you see that you will be charge 2 days prior arrival they preauthorise your card whenever they feel like it without prior notice. Which cause issues as you are not expecting this on a random day. They are too worried about scams at their side but not at yours… This time we were welcome buy a girl receptionist with long hair who looked new and didn’t have too much knowledge so we were a bit surprised. Another thing I did not understand as only happens in this hotel is that my Spanish passport wasn’t accepted! So bizarre… and had to provide my Spanish ID. I have to say that all this trouble only happens in this hotel as we have been in other Axel and never had such issues. Also, another downside I see but could be just my perception is that the majority of the guest are now straight couples so it lost a bit the LGBTQ vibe that used to have , but this is just my opinion. Overall it’s a nice hotel, however I don’t think I would visit again. I will use the Axel company but most likely no this one in Barcelona again.

I had a bag stolen from the lobby while checking in. They would only look at security camera tape if the police asked them to look at it.
