Great location with friendly staff and clean facilities. Our instructor Josh was very helpful and checked in on us periodically. *clean restrooms *ample parking *spacious bays *has lounge seating in addition to stools *has cornhole and pool tables *offers Crocs and socks for those that have open toe shoes They offer a menu of beverages and food; but we only desserts and they were fresh & delicious.

We celebrated a birthday at Axe's and O's earlier this December and could not have had a more positive, memorable experience! None of us had done axe throwing before, but our instructor was AMAZING! Please help me remember his name after I share pictures from our experience (he had long hair). But he made us feel comfortable with the entire learning process and supported us throughout the experience. He challenged us when we started to get the hang of things and always kept our visit interesting—introducing new games to us and helping with point decisions. Love that there was food as well! The atmosphere is off the charts. Such a beautiful establishment! Would absolutely come here again.

Google
An absolutely amazing experience! We took our team here Friday night and we were wowed by the service and attention to detail. We had 21 people and the staff were phenomenal. They kept up with so many different drink and food orders. It showed that they love the business they work for. We will definitely be going back in the future. I was able to have a conversation with the owner and I was so impressed by how much she not only cares about the business but by how much she cared about her staff and it shows! Thank you Axes & O’s for a wonderful time!

Google
I’d been wanting to try axe throwing for a while & my boyfriend suggested we go while I was there for a visit. We were so glad we decided to go & not do go-carts (no offense K1)! After our gracious host demonstrated proper techniques & safety, we were throwing like pros! Not really😅, but he was so very helpful & would check on us when he saw we needed help with throwing- that guy IS a pro (wish I could remember his name, but we were there around 15:30 this past Saturday)! We had a great time & they also have a pretty nice selection of local brews on tap!😆

Google
We had a great time. The coaches are excellent and very friendly, and the food was good too. My only suggestion would be on a day with so many people in each group, to spread them out a bit, either by splitting the appointments, or using the back lanes for the larger groups. But overall, an excellent experience, and we will return.

Google
Our social group had a just great time at the Axes and O's in Sterling. Pedro was an awesome teacher and we laughed and had a blast doing the ax throwing. The food was very good as well. Bring friends and have a great time!!

Google
Great place instructor was good and was without the time we were there always stepping in to help us out and give us pointers. I would have liked a single lane to throw. We were next to a couple and it was 4 of us in one lane. To make sure we used or time wisely for the game. It was that the couple would throw the axe and I understand to verify where you hit at on the board but to sit down there and have a conversation while we wait for them to come back across the line. They would also throw and just walk up to pick up there axe without waiting for us to throw. We could only get thru 1 game because of the waiting to throw safely. Other than that staff was great, drinks were great, and instructor was great.

I took my hubby to Axes and O’s for his birthday. We had an amazing time! We were both first timers but our server Alejandro was great, he gave us instructions and demonstrations. He even cheered us on LOL. We went on a Wednesday so the place wasn’t busy. The vibe is super cute and intimate. Like upscale hole in the wall. Everyone was super nice. Even the veteran axe throwers came to our lane and shared some pro tips! The food was tasty and fresh (bar food). The local draft beers were surprisingly good! We will definitely be going back when our family comes to town and on date night.

Yelp
I think everyone goes: "Axe throwing, that's dumb" when they first hear the idea or the "let's go". It's definitely strange-ish, but much more less strange as you're here for a bit. Training is great, service is great, and weirdly enough - the food is adequate and long as you're not expecting Noma fermentation lab dishes. It's like a faster paced, harder bowling. There should be a ton of people here but I'm sure it suffers from the Top Golf principle, which is that it seems like a pain in the a to get there, set it up, pay for it, reserve a lane, etc. etc. But it's not. Super easy and you're throwing a big axe at wood with a beer in your hand in 10 minutes.

Yelp
If you are looking for something different and fun to do with your friends and family, I suggest giving Axes and O's a try. Making a reservation is the wise thing to do, but walk-ins are accommodated if at all possible. My family came here over the Christmas break and we all had a great time. Jurgen (sp?) was our "coach" and waiter (a man of many talents) and he was wonderful. He showed us the proper techniques and assured us that anyone can do it, even though my wife was a little worried she would not be able to get the axe to stick to the board, but she did great. The facility is clean, the bar is very nice, there are plenty of tables and seats and the staff is super friendly and positive. Jurgen was outstanding as he walked around, giving helpful tips to anyone who needed it and just generally being an enjoyable person to talk with. Our hour and a half session was just about right as the four of us were getting pretty tired out by the end, so our visit turned out to be a complete success and we will do it again with our friends, too. The big surprise to me was the food. I had used our visit to see if taking my employees to this place would be a good idea, but my team likes to eat so I wasn't sure if the food would be enough for them, but the food we tried was very good and the other food we saw looked great, so I'll definitely be planning a spring outing for my team at Axes and O's. We very much appreciate Jurgen's hard work and everyone else on the staff who worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time. We look forward to coming back and seeing the changes that are coming that we heard about. See you soon!

Yelp
Came here with 10 friends to celebrate my birthday. We were given 4 targets to aim at. It was perfect because no one was waiting long for a turn. We all had so much fun and improved a lot in the two hours. They let us bring a cake in, and was offered a free drink for my birthday. Also, Brian was great. Very helpful with throwing advice, funny comments, and showed us a fun game to play. Really liked him! Josh, who was training, was nice too!

Yelp
Fun and cozy inviting place for family and friends to enjoy each other's company and release some stress (safely, of course!) Although it can get a bit loud, it helps to project stress at the bull's eye with axes and hatchets !! The game master/coach/server goes all of the safety rules and games. So parents should check age restrictions before bringing the kids! They do offer food and drinks (nonalcoholic and alcoholic) and board and table games, as well! Great place to chill and relax with family and friends in a cozy environment!!

Yelp
This was a fun workout alternative activity. The staff was very helpful with lots of throwing pointers. The place was clean and the patrons were cheerful. Everyone will celebrate your first stick. I highly recommend this location!

Yelp
We had a lot of fun as a family activity here. We did a couple of hours of axe throwing. The staff was very informative and helpful! They have beers and food. The pizza and chicken fries were really good. This spot wasn't super busy on a Sunday afternoon. Tip: you have to wear close toe shoes
google avatar

Lina N.

Yelp
Made reservations online - easy process! You do have to pay right there to reserve your spot. The chill area is pretty spacious and has lots of seats and there is a bar as well. The lanes itself had privacy for large groups, which was nice. Our reservation was at 7pm and our group filled out the waivers online. We got there around 6:55pm, checked in, and had to wait for the other groups that were checking in to fill out their waivers, which was kind of annoying as it says that it is highly recommended to arrive early for this step. Our instructor, Pedro, called multiple groups including mine to come join him for the demo around 7:10pm. The demo was probably five minutes long. We ordered some drinks and beer buckets. I had the pineapple express and it was really good - 10/10. My friend had the sangria and she said it was good, but not as good as the pineapple express. The beer buckets were $25 for 6 bottles. Around 8:25pm, Pedro was coming through everyone's lane to collect payment. We had a hard stop at 8:30pm - so about an hour and 15 mins of throwing the axe. In the end, we had asked Pedro to take a group photo of all us, and he said, with an attitude, "Yeah, hurry up guys I have to go set up for the next group." Our group stayed until 9:15pm to finish the beer buckets, and there was no next group at 9pm.

Yelp
Went with a group of friends for a birthday outing at Axes and O's. You have to make reservations ahead of time because the place is very organized. An instructor will explain everything to you and your group when you get there. You can order food and drinks easily while you throw axes. The facility was very clean and well kept. The staff was nice. The people working there enjoyed instructing others and answering questions. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a fun date night, birthday party, or overall good time throwing axes.

Yelp
First time throwing an ax. This was a great experience... nice venue, good food and beer options, and amazing staff! It's not as intimidating as it sounds... I highly recommend giving it a try. I'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I've been to Axes and O's twice now with family and it's been a fantastic experience both times! They have pretty solid food and drinks in addition to the great axe throwing environment. It's a very spacious area and the equipment is well maintained. There are laminated cards with rules for different games which is fun. Our axe throwing guide Brian was really awesome - great teaching and guidance, and a very enthusiastic and humorous teacher! Reserving your space is also pretty straightforward and easy to do. It's quite a seamless experience and extremely beginner friendly.
google avatar

Cathy H.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place!! So much fun and great customer service! Brian was so great at everything from being our instructor to serving us our food and drinks! Definitely going back!!

Yelp
We went to Axes and O's as a family activity over the holidays with a 20 and 22 year old. Everyone had fun. Pedro provided instruction of how to axe throw and then we practiced. After s little practice Pedro showed us a few games we could play against each other and in teams. No one is our group had ever done axe throwing before so it was a lot of fun to learn how to throw, score and compete.

Yelp
Went ax throwing for the first time for a friend's party. They rented all the throwing lanes in the back. We had a coach stay with us, giving us tips and taking our food and drink orders. It was really fun. The coach was really helpful and encouraging. Good selection of drinks (beer, wine, and cocktails without hard liquor) and food. I only had the pretzels but they were soft and warm. The facility was clean and well maintained. Lots of space. They even had some arcade machines in the front.

John P.

Yelp
Family night out with our two kids in their twenties and their girlfriends. Place is spotless, the MC/waiter/axe-coach was phenomenal, and all of us were quickly able to grasp the basics so that we all had an absolutely blast playing the suggested axe-throwing scoring games. Also, I believe most, if not all, draft beers were sourced from local breweries, which is cool. Really just an excellent evening. Can't recommend this place enough.

Christina L.

Yelp
We were there last night for our anniversary and my partners birthday. The last spot we went to closed over a year ago and we were due for a little throwing fun. We arrived for an 8:00pm reservation and first off was the ambiance. So relaxing and laid back! Pedro was our coach and we arrived early so we relaxed on the couches and watch Failed army on the wall while he was setting up. We had some good laughs with that. Then throwing time! This was a great experience from start to finish. Can't rate the food because we weren't hungry but would love to check it out next time! Great vibes there and had loads of fun!! My partner is VERY picky, but LOVED it! Worth the drive from Fairfax! I can see why it's almost 5 starts!
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
singularly impressed with the enthusiasm of the staff, the whole experience made our first axe-throwing outing a complete success!!! We're going again, you dont want to miss this!
google avatar

Trang G.

Yelp
I researched an axe throwing activity for my family and glad to come across Axes and O's. Website made it easy to reserve a time slot and complete the waiver. The facility had easy parking. The staff was welcoming and attentive when we arrived. The atmosphere was bright, clean, and modern. They had a nice bar, comfy coaches, and video games. The axe master did a great job showing us how safely throw the axe. Then observed us throughout the entire session for questions. I would come back again. This was a fun family activity.
google avatar

Jocy B.

Yelp
Urgin was our host, and he was awesome! We were first-timers and had a blast. I was a little hesitant, but throwing that axe...was therapeutic!

Yelp
We booked a large group to celebrate my husbands birthday. From booking to end of the night, everything was perfect. Each staff member I dealt with was professional, responsive and accommodating. They are located in a set of industrial buildings behind the Dulles Town Center. For parties of less than 20, we booked directly online, paid a 50% deposit and signed online waivers. For groups of 10 or more, they will give you an additional lane. Upon entering, there are obvious sanitizer stations, lots of lobby space and online waiver signing stations. We were escorted to our back area lanes. There are relaxing couches and tables to use in each station. The rules are given to us by a coach. My only suggestion is that they turn off their overhead music because the coach was explaining to 3 groups. It was hard to hear him. The coach is also your waiter. We ordered alcohol and appetizers. All the drinks came right away and the food arrived shortly after. They have a great selection of craft beers, cocktails and so many yummy snacks. We ordered the flatbreads, pub pretzels, various tot dishes and their Buffalo chicken dips. All the food was hot and fresh. We also ordered several mimosa flights that were excellent. This was such an original idea. The lanes were sanitized during our play time. It's $35 for 90 minutes of play time. We had time to socialize and throw. The lobby has old school video game. Everything about this event was great. I highly suggest it if you want a night out with friends.

Yelp
Made a reservation last minute. Awesome location! Great training! Wide area to throw. Lack of children is a huge plus! Also not located in a mall. I went during game night which was also fun. Super good food and drinks as well.

Azam S.

Yelp
From the booking to the end, this was an excellent experience. I reserved two lanes for my husbands birthday and a large group of us to enjoy some axe throwing. The establishment is clean, lots of space, comfortable and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. Our server/teacher was exceptionally helpful and kind. We were placed in an area where it felt very private and like we had the area to ourselves which was awesome. Everyone had an amazing time and my husband had a blast for his birthday. Overall I HIGHLY recommend this location for hitting "bullseye" on everything you would want. Great for big groups or small groups - I'd totally come back for a date night as well. Thank you so much!!!

Deepa J.

Yelp
Went to celebrate one of our friend bday. The place is good and it was fun activity. Just felt like there needs to be more options for drinks and food . Overall a good experience.

Yelp
This is a really beautiful, clean, and fun venue! I've been to some axe throwing places that aren't nearly as nice. The staff were fantastic - shout out to Brian for teaching our group! Ill definitely be back!

Yelp
Very fun experience! My sister, friend, and I had a girls night out and started here. The instructor was very attentive and patient in helping us find our axe throwing techniques. The furniture is very nice. Very modern looking. They do sell beer and food but the happy house should have more choices. We ordered the chips and queso which was delicious but not super shareable. Could be bigger. Beside that, really good time!

Lauren R.

Yelp
Axes and O's is always a great time. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are excellent. And most of the time there's free firewood available on your way out haha
google avatar

Becky C.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, but the portions were small. It's more of a small plates, bar food situation. I wouldn't go there expecting a sit down dinner. We sat in the bar and played trivia. It was a decent venue for trivia, but honestly all the axe throwing was annoying. I know, it's an axe throwing bar, but the "ka-thunk" sounds in the background all through the night are a bit much if you are not partaking. Anyway, the drinks were good and the food was decent. I just don't think this is the place for a quiet happy hour, so I probably won't be back, but axe-throwers, I think, will be thrilled.
google avatar

Deborah S.

Yelp
My husband and I had been talking about trying axe throwing for a while. I finally did a little research and chose Axes and O's. We had such a great time. Jurgen gave us and the group pointers and then was always available for more help. He was also our server. The service was great, the snacks were good, the location is clean and everyone was nice. That doesn't happen often. Thanks for a fun time!
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
I have been throwing axes for a couple of years so whenever I travel I make sure to bring my axes with me so I can try the local axe throwing venue. This is by far the best axe throwing venue I have visited. What impressed me at first was the proper league targets at every bay not just at "league bays". The staff was friendly and helpful, they also understood when I said I was an experienced thrower and had the presence of mind to not try to re-teach me how to throw. They weren't just going through the motions. You could tell the staff actually cared about the sport not just a paycheck. The food was exceptional, I had a Flatbread pizza and loaded tots that were delicious. They even have a lively trivia night. Seriously this is an amazing location, if you are ever nearby you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit.

B S.

Yelp
Friendly staff went above and beyond to give us a great experience for my brother's bachelor party. Had the place to ourselves during the day and got great tips and even the chance to try out some of the more custom throwing axes. Food was also very good!
google avatar

Monokid D.

Yelp
Fantastic. We scheduled a work team event at Axes and Os with a private lane. The reservation process was easy, they were organized and had everything ready when we arrived. The place is very nice and spacious with a great bar and even some arcade games in front to play while you wait for your lane time. The lane coach was pleasant, clear about the rules and checked on us frequently. Very attentive and helpful to our group when we wanted instruction on throwing the axes. They also had food and except for the potato skins everything else from the flare breaks, wings and pretzels were delicious. This place was super great and I would recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Kay P.

Yelp
My boyfriend found Axes and O's online after we had a negative experience with another axe throwing establishment. Their reservation process was painless and easy! I also enjoyed receiving a quick safety lesson on how to properly handle the axes and how to keep everyone in the same lane safe! Another aspect that I loved was they provided many games to play and scoreboards instead of just simply throwing the axes for fun. The competition was welcomed and it became very spirited which was fun to watch!

Yelp
Went with a bunch of girls! great fun place. Lots of FUN !!
google avatar

Yelp
We celebrated my husbands birthday with a bunch of his friends last night and it was a total blast! The atmosphere is nice and not intimidating at all, I'm not sure what I was picturing.. It was very relaxed and the staff was very friendly! Bryan was our waiter/lane dude and he was super helpful with techniques for throwing axes as well as being knowledgeable about the beers! I can't wait to go back!! Thank you for a fun night!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
What a great time! This was our first time axe-throwing and won't be the last. Made a reservation for 2 for the 1pm Saturday slot and we had our own lane. Pedro was a great coach, cheerleader and server. Bar offerings are great and Connor made some great recommendations on the beer front. I can't wait to bring other friends and family here in the future. A very cool experience well worth the cost!

Peter G.

Yelp
Held a team building event at Axes and O's, and had a great time. Great food and beer, fun friendly competition among teammates. Perfect environment for hanging out with co-workers and having some fun. Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
This was my 1st time going to an Ax throwing facility. I went with a group for some post New Years fun. The venue is well laid out, clean and the staff is friendly. Our coach was great at explaining the rules, safety and throwing techniques. We all had a fantastic time at Axes & O's! I think myself and my girlfriend may even try to join their league. This place is a must try!
google avatar

Nycole K.

Yelp
The ABADA-Capoeira DC board had a blast here. Great staff & service. Food looked really good too. Very Clean.

Patti E.

Yelp
Great fun! My first time there, I enjoyed the briefing before. While expecting "bowling alley" food...Delighted that the food and drink menu was extensive and DELICIOUS! Great sangria, taco fries
google avatar

Karthik D.

Yelp
Had a great time here when I went with friends the other day. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Good choice of beers on draft as well. I'd definitely come back here. Had a great instructor and felt safe axe throwing.

Santana W.

Yelp
The location of the Axes and O's is very shady and in a area with lots of warehouses which did make me question, but once you arrive you can very easily tell the location doesn't define the place. The employees are very kind. The lessons on how to throw an axe are very direct but I do wish the employees would at least throw one axe just for an example. I went with a couple of friends and we all started off bad but we got the hang of it in only about an hour. I grew hungry so I ordered some pretzels and they were well made. Overall very fun experience.
google avatar

Meg G.

Yelp
Drove by randomly one day and was intrigued. Visited their website and made a reservation for my husband and I the next weekend. What a fun place! From making the reservation, to the folks who work there - everything was simple, relaxed, and enjoyable. The throwing coach showed us how to throw, gave us tips, and taught us scoring and axe throwing games. She also brought us drinks from the bar. Good happy hour specials in bar if you get there before 7. We will be back..with friends next time!

Peg O.

Yelp
We had the best time! You learn how to throw two types of axes, SAFELY, and have the opportunity to throw for a long time. There's food and drink available. The people who work there are really nice! Great way to let off some energy, get some exercise and have fun!
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
We had a blast on our recent date night! Perfect activity for fun as a couple. The entire experience was great, from check in to the mini lessons with our teacher, to the games they showed us. Would definitely recommend and would come again!

Jay L.

Yelp
Wanted something to do for a night out with another couple and tried this on a whim. So glad we did! Learning to throw was much easier than we thought, and much more fun than I would have guessed. The place has a low-key lounge vibe, with comfy couches, a traditional bar, and a separate, bar-like area with stools that runs the width of the ax-throwing lanes. Nice selection of drinks, although only canned hard alcohol cocktails (but quite good) beyond beer, wine and cider. Our ax coach/server was great. Food is mostly apps, flatbreads and a variety of specialty hotdogs (the chili dog was quite good). Parties under six are often paired with another party. The four of us didn't want to embarrass ourselves directly in front of (ok, next to) strangers, so we paid for six to get a private lane (with two targets). Recommend doing the same, particularly if it's your first time :-).

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced, not a great food selection and you do not get a lot of "help" learning how to throw. So you better already know how to throw an axe or don't bother coming.
google avatar

Vanne E.

Yelp
Fun place. Bar service is good and the bar tender was super nice and friendly. Our instructor Harrison was friendly, explained everything to us in detail and we had a great time. You will have fun 100% here. Is a different activity to enjoy with a group of friends.
google avatar

Tara T.

Yelp
Amazing time! Facility is clean and spacious. Great service from the time you walk in. booking a slot on line and check in are seamless. Coaches are beyond amazing! Very attentive even when juggling multiple people and lanes. Very knowledgeable and only want to see you improve your skill and have fun. Our coach was the best and Very encouraging. Safety is their top priority. Great food and drinks too! Great for a date night, girls night, family outing.. any occasion!

Yelp
Spouse and I were looking for something different to (belatedly) celebrate Valentine's Day and we remembered hearing about axe throwing as a fun activity for couples. In our area, the recommendations for Axes and O's were very positive, so we gave it a try --- and had an awesome experience! Our instructor was patient and explained the how-to's for axe throwing and once we had our footing he showed us 2 common 'games' you can play that are point-based. It took awhile, but once we had memorized the point system we were having a blast. It was an afternoon session so the facility was very quiet, but I can see how in the evenings and on weekends it would be a happening scene. Speaking of that, I really like that the facility includes spots of eat (high top tables) as well as couches to relax and socialize while you're waiting for a lane or taking some time off to rest your arms. I should add that we tried two appetizers/snacks and both were delicious. If it weren't for the time of day we'd probably have tried some adult beverages, too. We had such a great experience that we're already looking forward to the next time.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Fun activity with older kids, looking for something g to do on a rainy day over Spring Break & this his the spot.
