"Central Austin all-day restaurant and cafe Thrive Craft House closed in late November. Co-owner Matthew Kellams confirmed the closure and mentioned the sale of the company. The location will be transformed into a new beer bar called Axis, featuring an extensive selection of draft beers and wines. Thrive opened in 2020." - Nadia Chaudhury

Chill vibes. Less than a year old. Still have yet to try some of the food. Was told by a regular the wings, pizza and pork belly tacos are the way to go. Dog friendly! Outside patio available…they have a vape vending machine I’ve never seen that before! First time here will be back. Ask for Cam he helped me with my order.

Had a great breakfast with made to order traditional breakfast tacos and one of the breakfast Calzones that is unlike anything in the Austin area. Also, when. I am there for lunch their Flat bread pizzas are excellent. If your craving a good hand made burger that is totally fresh than place is one to goto. They have at least 50 beers on tap which change regularly and weekend live music too. Lots of activities always planned. Can't wait for the St. Patty's day menu.

Recommendation from some locals, I ate and tried their beer list. Food was good (fancy sandwich). Beer list was big, but on a video screen that was hard to read, it kept changing so fast. Got one good drink with dinner. Had good service except for the "meh" help choosing my beer from the bartender. Pleasant atmosphere sitting outdoors on the patio. Covid19 safe.👍

Google
Great new restaurant with a wide beer selection, delicious food, and great service! I’d recommend the chicken artichoke sandwich and the nachos. You can definitely tell the food here is homemade and a lot of care is put into it. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and beer; something that can be hard to come by in Austin. The atmosphere here is also very warm and appealing if you’re looking for a good outdoor patio to enjoy a good beer on. I’d definitely recommend this place and will be returning!

Google
Hello y'all... So I've been in this joint a few times and I've always left very pleased and with a full belly... Thrive is a Craft House, but they also offered a variety of food items, I've ordered the ATX Calzone every time and I'm sticking with it, it is delicious... Oh, did I mention that this joint has Live Music? Yeah, it is a nice little place to hang out & chill... Enjoy!

Great beer selection and decent pub style food. I'd bring a friend as most of their portion sizes are large. Todd was a pleasant bartender and had solid recommendations

It’s my second visit. Both for a beer or three on a Saturday afternoon. Nice location, helpful staff, and certainly good beer. I had some great semi-healthy tacos on the first visit. I like the UnTappd beer menus. I’ll be back on another Saturday

Google
Thrive has a solid menu with a lot of different options and a large beer selection. It’s has nice inside seating area with a large bar and some tvs if you wanted to watch a game. I like this spot and the only downside is they don’t have much in the way of parking besides the street.

Yelp
This place recently changed management. When it opened, it was a cool little craft bar with good food options, kinda like a brewery type place with numerous craft beer options. Now, it's a total joke of an establishment and a lot more like a generic college bar. The beer selection has been reduced to about just a few fairly common and generic options. The food menu has been reduced to basically a couple of tacos options, pizza, or sliders. The website advertises "local musicians playing" and they basically mean a college kid playing club music from a laptop in the corner on the weekends. This place is also like two places in one? Is it Axis Bar or is it Antlers Wild Game Grill and BBQ? They seem to be trying to be both a restaurant and trendy bar and instead of focusing on one aspect of the business, they are desperately trying to balance both. As a result, neither are great. In reality, they are both pretty bad. This place is so unnecessarily segmented that ordering food and drinks meant that we had to do TWO different transactions, one for food, the other for a couple of beers...That's right, this place is so generic that they can't even synchronize your order and just have you pay for everything all at once. The simple act of ordering food and drinks at this place was an annoying hassle. The "talented chefs" that are mentioned on the website that specialize in "Wild game" are referring to the brisket/pork tacos, pizza, and beef sliders...you know...the super-duper wild stuff. The brisket tacos tasted like that cheap microwavable brisket you get at HEB and the pork tacos were more fat and pineapple than any quality meat. The price is $12 for 3 tacos...so $4 a piece for the small tacos at this place. There are much better and much better priced tacos in the area than the microwavable meat and tough/cold tortillas that they are serving up in this place. Overall, everything from the way this places is marketed on the website, the service, the food, the prices, and the beer selection is just all a big joke.

Yelp
This was a great place when it was "Thrive." Obviously the new ownership struggled to make a profit and restructured. Disappointed.

Yelp
Very friendly service and delicious food from Antlers. The cheesesteak is incredible. One of my new favorite local spots!

Yelp
Place smells of rich mahogany and good decisions. Ive been a bit mentally lost lately. I walked into this establishment and found myself. The moment I walked in I was warmly greeted by Jovan and Marty. Lovely fellows. From that moment forward I began to have the absolute time of my life. We spoke of Shakespeare, sang 90s music along with a bit of new school toons, and quoted movies all night long. Haven't felt this good in quite sometime. Now reading this review you might be skeptical. I say find out for yourself. I mean, it's that good. Cheers!

Yelp
I'm so disturbed. I was greeted with, "You can only order a beer only if you suck d**k". When I told the bartender I was disturbed by how he was approaching us, he told us "the door was behind us" and we should leave. There were other words spoken by Axis staff that aren't weren't worth repeating. Steer clear, obviously the management at this location DOES NOT CARE about the physical safety of its customers or other staff. Go right across Guadeloupe to "back lot" for staff that will serve beer and food without insulting and disrespecting your humanity.

Yelp
Went here after work with a few coworkers for a drink. We got there at 11pm so knew we were only going to get 1 or 2 drinks. First thing we noticed is that the music is SO LOUD. It would be fine if this was a dance club but it's a bar! Then, the menu offered an Austin Eastciders Spiked Peach. I tried to order that and the bartender says " it's not actually Austin Eastciders and it's a peach lemonade". Ummm, okay. My friend tried to order AE Pina Colada. "Oh, we don't actually have that yet". Why do you have the handle up and ready, then?! My other friend ordered a regular old margarita. She said it tasted like straight up orange juice... with the pulp. We thought they closed at 12 but the marquee out front boasted they were open until 1 am. Come 12am they are shuffling us out. I asked about the marquee and worker said "well, not yet but we are working on getting our late night permit". Just a weird a** experience all around. A lot of decent seating is all I'll give them.

Yelp
My new favorite Friday night! This place just reopened under new management (and new name) and it's great. The venue is small and personal and feels like you know everyone the minute you walk in. Great patio. Amazing staff. And you can't beat the location. I've was here during the 37th Street holiday lights and it was the perfect night out. I'll be back!

Yelp
Chase is a great bar tender here. Super friendly and makes the most beautiful handcrafted drinks. 10/10. Recommendation: baby tequila soda. It's a complex drink that will make you a returning customer!

Yelp
The staff is absolutely incredible!!! if you are served by either Alex's (yes plural) or Jack, you are guaranteed to have a great time. Very friendly ownership as well! Their liquor pitchers are great value, and they have the cheapest drinks in all of Austin! Best value bar in north university easily!
