Ayahuasca Cantina

Loved every second of this experience. Ordered the bone marrow & the duck. Both of which were decadently prepared and perfectly spiced. The combination of ingredients in these dishes were so interesting and even some things I generally wouldn’t eat, they combine in such a way that was extremely enjoyable for me. The churro dessert is a musttttt try! Service is also top tier, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The cocktails are out this world! Wishing you guys success I would absolutely go again!

This is a true hidden gem. This place was recommend to us. From the first time we went the service. Drinks & good were top tier. Cynthia is very knowledgeable of all the different tequilas & mezcals. We loved our first experience so much we jad to go back. The food never disappoints.

Very cool concept. You walk through an unassuming cafe (Xaman Cafe) into a dimly lit room. The ambience is unique and food and drinks are spot on. Everything we tried including the flan was very good and something I would try again. These guys know what they're doing and if you're in the area try them for sure. It is in the not so cool part of BA district but once inside you will love it.

Fun speakeasy hidden in the back of the takeout spot. I’m at my friend’s here and had a great experience. The cocktails were delicious, although a tiny bit sweet on many of them. I ordered one that the waiter said would be the least sweet of them all, and I still find it to be the touch on the sweet side. I had this really cool seafood soup where they prepare it table side by dropping some very hot rocks inside of a bowl that had all the contents of the soup. They then let it simmer for a few minutes and return to take the rocks out. Super cool presentation and the soup itself was delicious. I would go back just for that soup again! I parked right in front. Plenty of parking even on weekend

Our favorite place. We've been here countless times since their opening and will continue to return! Celebrated our birthdays and celebrated family & friends. Eric, Diego and Cynthia took wonderful care of us this past weekend. We had the delicious mole tamal, the must chicharrones, and the empanadas. There's no way going wrong with any of their cocktails. Our favorite this visit was "Ceniza" super light, refreshing and unique. Classic: Ayahuasca. Also, try their curados! Love their events and super glad we had the chance to be there for "Bar Mauro"! "Maurito" was our favorite! Hands down our favorite, thank you for crafting this magnificent place! From the copal to the candles, the flowers, and every detail to create a one-of-a-kind experience and atmosphere!

This what I called an authentic a hidden gem that it’s on the back of a coffee shop. Find it cause it’s so worth it . Firstly the staff at the coffee shop received you nicely, secondly the ambience is fabulous so cozy and trendy at the same time, every single detail is unique and amazing. Third the most important thing is the food the chef Monica Lopez really studied every single detail of the menu which at least of what I tried was out of this world ( I ate the duck Carnitas empanada was extraordinary, next the aguachile negro surf & turf with a black sauce so hard to explain but amazing, and I normally eat one or two plates but I had to try another chef’s favorite which was the roasted beet salad was a great experienced and off course the desert I couldn’t missed it. Try it out it’s an absolute unique and delicious experience so far for the last year I think, nothing compare to Ayahuasca Cantina.

This place is a hidden gem. Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. However we were the only ones in there. There is no signage on the front and it’s a shame because more people should know about this place! It was a Wednesday night after Mother’s Day so that might be part of it but I highly recommend this place.

I took my wife for our anniversary. This place is such a unique experience and a true hidden gem. They made us off menu drinks and took great care of us for our anniversary. 10/10!!

Great ambiance. Food was very interesting and drinks were good. All in all fun little date nite spot. Bartender was the best especially with the old fashioned. Update: I ordered the Churros and let me tell you as a churro connoisseur, these are definitely fun and different. Aka order the churros!

My group found the reservation process very easy for Ayahuasca - you just use their resy online to grab a spot. We loved the concept for the cocktail menu having the drinks split up by Mesoamerican eras. I totally loved my full sized cocktail, I would not recommend the tasting flight. I've docked one star because the $40 flight was confusingly labeled on the menu, leading my friend to think she was ordering a much larger volume and variety of cocktails than came out. The tasting flight itself features the complimentary welcome shot, which is no value add. Moreover, it is confusing based on how it's listed on the menu regarding quality and contents. It is listed under the oldest category but features the welcome shot from another category. When we asked about remediate per the menu, the bar tender brought out a random cocktail rather than the final prehistoric feature under that portion of the menu. Overall rating is 4 vs 3 stars because 1) they did try to address the issue with the tasting menu, and 2) we did totally enjoy our meals and drinks once everything came out. Our server was very sweet. We had a wonderful night but the tasting flight mishap really soured the experience for us. LA pricing on this menu, a bit higher than I like so I probably won't return until a special occasion. Happy to check out Ayahuasca this one time, and the ambiance is very cool.

I came to this bar with my friend on a Friday night and had an absolutely amazing experience. The vibe was perfect, the drinks were on point, and the atmosphere made the whole night memorable. The staff was amazing , Cynn and Lynn, were outstanding friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly professionals who know their spirits and how to craft great cocktails. It was just an all-around great time, and I'm so happy I found this place. I'm already looking forward to coming back when Cynn or Lynn works both amazing.

Awesome hidden gem in Bishop Arts. Don't sleep on this one! Located in the back room of Xaman Cafe, the team has created a unique dining experience with delicious, creative and fresh food with equally great cocktails. Our service was fast, attentive and flawless! We will definitely be returning and looking forward to more seasonal items. 10/10 recommend !

The first thing that strikes you about the Ayahuasca Cantina is its hidden nature - there are no signs. Just a door at the end of the hallway. It is in a beautiful room light by candle light with a deep Mexican vibe (just a bit too dark for me, but I am old). You need reservations as it is not a large place. The cocktails are about $15 as was my glass of a Mexican red from Guanajuato (they had limited wine choices the night we were there, but the glass I had was excellent). The cocktails were high quality and seemed reasonably priced. We started with the duck carnitas empanada which was good, but I think I am going to try the Wagyu aguachile next time. I ordered the al pastor fish tacos, while my wife and son had the pulpo y tinta and the tuetanos. While the al pastor fish tacos were good, it was a mistake to order them for a main as they were kind of small (I checked prior menus as these used to be offered as an appetizer for the same price - I suspect it being offered as a main was a mistake). I was able to leverage my misfortune by trying the other mains. The pulpo was some of the best I have ever had - very unique with a deep flavor that you would not expect - excellent in everyway. The tuetanos came with 2 large bone halves (which some crispy meat on the sides), and a bowl of wagyu tenderloin, along with other tasty things. Combined in a tortilla, it was amazing! For desert, we had flan de cafe (Mexican expresso infused flan) and churros de Totomoxtle - these were unlike any churros I had ever seen - they were very dark/black and tightly curled into a delicious looking mound topped with a butterpecan ice cream - both were extraordinary and a very good value. The water glasses were very short, but we had excellent service that was continually refilling them and asking if we needed anything else. We will definitely be back to try more things - this place is unique and it rocks! It was totally worth the 45 min drive.

My husband and I went here on a Friday night for our one year wedding anniversary. It's a speakeasy type feel because you have to go through a cafe to get to the back restaurant/bar. When you walk in it's dark, moody and very vibey. The ambiance is super cool. I will say, they burn something like palo santo throughout the night which makes it quite smokey, so if you have asthma, this is not the place for you. But our server Alondra was so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu, and the food was amazing. We had one of the best dishes we've had in Dallas, the chicharrones appetizer. It was amazing. We also got the duck entree which was perfectly crispy and served in a beautiful sauce. The other entree we got was the lamb quesadilla, which was so unique and we enjoyed as well. The drinks are next level. Diego and Cash were our bartenders, and they were both so skilled and came over to our table to explain the drinks and the best way to enjoy them. They also gave us a complimentary version of their take on champagne since we were celebrating our anniversary, which is actually sake based. All in all, would highly recommend this place for an intimate dinner, as there's only about 10 tables and a small bar, and most are set for 2 people. Pricing was also very fair, we got an appetizer, 2 entrees and 4 drinks for $160. We will definitely be back, thank you again to the amazing crew working that night who gave us such an amazing experience for our anniversary!

This is such a good date night spot. It is very cozy and romantic. The cocktails and food are amazing. Highly recommend!

Loved the secret room that you would never imagine was back there! Would be nice if it was a little bigger though.

Came here on Saturday for brunch (no reservation nor wait). We got the tamal, red pozole, chicken green chilaquiles, the birria flautas, a shot of añejo rum and a virgin strawberry mojito. The ambiance was nice, not too loud despite it being full. The virgin drink was delicious, probably my favorite thing I got, but the food was really good too. I have never heard of añejo rum before so that was a cool part of their liquor collection Next time I'll have to try the desserts.

This is a speakeasy style restaurant where it's behind a cafe. I absolutely love the ambience and decor they've set up. The bartender made me a drink of his choice, it was excellent although I do not remember what I had. He seemed very knowledgeable. The only subpar thing for me was their food. I thought their food was pretty over priced, everything tasted delicious though!

The drinks were 10/10 amazing. However we could not stay for long and couldn't order food because of the amount of smoke in the room. It was like a fog machine of smoke but it was so intense. I could not taste anything or smell anything but smoke and it gave me a headache. I would like to go back and try the food only if they turn off the smoke machine. :/ I've never experienced anything quite like it.....

How I would love to eat here again, was greeted with a fresh tortilla that is just ate with salt and lime. As i ordered couple mezcal shots I was greeted with a great dish, the bone marrow!!

Intimate spot in the back of Xaman cafe. All of the cocktails we tried were delicious, will have to go back to try their tequila flights and food menu. Great place to start the night.

The restaurant was 100% completely empty. For medical reasons I asked for a seat with a back (there were 20+ empty chairs) and they would not accommodate. Will never be back

We've been here several times and it never disappoints! Every dish has tons of flavor and the drinks are great! A must stop if you are looking for elevated Mexican cuisine. Great service and an awesome venue, do yourself a favor and make a reservation

Great tucked away bar. Great drinks and super friendly staff. One of my friends accidentally knocked over his drink and the staff were more than happy to remake it. I definitely plan to come back!
