Montreal’s New ‘Australian’ Pub, Ayers Rock, Draws Criticism | Eater Montreal

"The original Lyon location, which opened in 1997, leans on hackneyed, mostly ’80s-era stereotypes of Australia: Fosters beer (which the piece notes is neither cheap nor good), Paul Hogan imagery on social media, a wood-heavy “outback” interior inexplicably topped with a disco ball, and a mounted, possibly taxidermied crocodile on the wall. There are already five iterations of the same bar in France, the Ayers Rock name hasn’t really aged, and it’s not clear why the Montreal location needs to replicate this tacky concept when the owner runs several other bars without that name." - Tim Forster

the night club for student life or we can buy the ticket included one drinking offer "this Driving Home" that it is nice one for none-alcohol. Enjoy the late night dancing on boat and night life experiences in Lyon.

Went on a Monday night when it’s supposed to be busy, not a single soul in there

Great music, expensive drinks, unhelpful staff

Google
The most un Australian place i’ve ever been to. Is using a politically incorrect name for the bar which would not be accepted in Australia. Refused to play the song land down under, stating they needed to accomodate all cultures (but not the Australian culture they named their bar after). And didn’t adhere to their happy hour prices. Don’t bother going

Good atmosphere but the bouncers kicked us out for no reason. First and last time unfortunately.

Nothing about this bar is Australian except the flag they slapped on the place. Also do your research and change the name of the bar. Pros: nothing. Cons: everything. If I could rate it negative stars I would.

This is not a fancy bar, but rather the place where all drunk Erasmus students end up in Lyon. You're definitely going to have a good time, especially if you go on Mondays when beer is just one euro. Yep.

The pub was literally empty, we were 3 friends and of course the acces was refused because no girls with us so we moved to the next pub to spend our money. I think you should work on your entry acceptance policy.

Yelp
I cannot believe people aren't jumping up and down because they're over-excited to write about Ayers Rock. On my semester abroad in Lyon, I discovered Ayers Rock quickly and absolutely loved it. Okay, sometimes it's crowded. What bar isn't? That's right, the shitty ones. So yeah, just get over it. Ayers Rock offers almost 20 (I think?) sorts of shooters, and I tasted them all and they're good. The bartenders are hot, I even had a crush for a night or two. I think I loved it so much because where I live, there isn't anything you can compare to Ayers Rock. Also the music is good, a mix of pop, rock and sometimes you can even hear a lonely metal song. But most of all: the atmosphere is very nice. People are happy, flirty and drunk. What do you need more?

Yelp
Who's that dancing on the table? Oh right, it's me. That's what it feels like when I look through old photographs of my semester abroad in Lyon. Ayers Rock was always full (too full) of international students, lots of beer and liquor, lots of dancing, lots of spilling, and lots of silly photographs. It was fun from time to time, but I'd think of it as a fourth destination of the evening, almost a last resort. I don't miss this place, but I definitely have some great memories from there.

Yelp
An australian pub in the center of Lyon where you can find very greats cocktails at correct prices. A place where everything is in wood and frequented by foreign students. This pub are often full and the atmosphere inside is amazing. Great place to go.
