It has been quite a while since my family trip to Peru, so when my sister found Aymara Peruvian Kitchen and invited me to dinner, I was so happy that she introduced me to this place! The restaurant is very small, but they've got a nice outdoor dining patio, so their seating area is basically doubled.
Since the restaurant was small and intimate, we were able to strike up a convo with the restaurant owner/chef, Ralph. He was very friendly and he mentioned that he was, of course, originally from Peru, and many of the restaurant menu items were recipes from his grandmother. And after indulging in many of his signature offerings, I'd have to say that his granny definitely knows how to cook! My party decided to go for the trifecta of the restaurant's signature dishes: Lomo Saltado, Chicken Milanese with green noodles, and the Bistec a lo Pobre. We also decided to order a Ceviche appetizer because we were starving after a long day of walking.
Everything that we ordered was sooo yummy! We were immediately transported back to Peru from tasting our first bites of each dish. All the flavors were rich and all the meats were perfectly cooked. My favorite dish would have to be the Chicken Milanese, because I could eat that bed of rich and creamy pesto noodles that came with it, all day! The chicken itself was also breaded with a delicious and flavorful Japanese panko crust.
We ended up also getting the caramel flan for dessert, and it was another nostalgic trip for me. I used to always have caramel flan as a snack when I was a kid, and this flan tasted and had the exact same texture, so it was quite the pleasant blast from the Peruvian past. I would totally come back to Aymara whenever I'm having a hankering for some more delicious Peruvian food! (Or pesto pasta!)
