This is an incredible shop! If you are in downtown Portland you must stop in. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly! We went here on a food tour and came back the next day to do some shopping. We got even more free samples and was given great tips on how to make our sipping chocolate. It has one the the best sipping chocolates I have ever tasted. A must visit!!!

I had no intention of going inside when I passed this place, but then I saw on the advertisement that they had the viral Dubai Chocolate. I did not care for it because I’m not a chocolate person however, when I saw that they had it, I had to come in. It is nice quaint shop with a bunch of different fancy chocolates with different flavors. It was really good. I personally would not have it again or go out of my way to have it, but that’s not because of the quality product that they make. I will be back next paycheck to get some other ones that I am curious about buying. The lady with the glasses working near the coffee machines, she was awesome to talk to. I’ll definitely be back again when I get my next paycheck to try the different flavored candy bars that they have. I wanna try the cheesecake strawberry one cause that’s my go to flavor for everything.

We were welcomed in very warmly. We were offered a tiny chocolate to sample. They had various items in there ranging from different prices if you don’t want to overspend. The drinks aren’t pricey and we bought a sipping chocolate to try. It came in a tiny cup but it was very rich and delicious. Would recommend anyone to come in and try.

One of my favorite spots in SW Portland. The Shot-in-a-Shot is my go-go, but there is no wrong answer. The staff are friendly and inclusive. A great place to buy a decadent gift and must-do if youre anywhere near by.

They have many types of chocolate! They also make their own dubai chocolate. I bought a bar for $16 there but I wish I bought the one they make themselves instead because it looked thicker! Oh well, next time. The owner was very sweet!

Absolutely Incredible Experience with Azar Indulgences! I cannot say enough great things about Azar Indulgences and its amazing owner, Christine Azar! She is a truly kind and supportive person who goes above and beyond for her customers. I purchased some of her incredible candy bars, only to have them stolen by the staff at the AVIS Car Rental Portland Airport lot while I was speaking with an agent inside the booth. It was an infuriating situation, but Christine’s empathy and generosity turned my day around. Her chocolates and confections are crafted with passion, and you can taste the love and quality in every bite. Beyond the indulgent treats, it’s heartening to know that businesses like Azar Indulgences exist—places that value customer care just as much as the products they create. My partner and I randomly found this place on google map while we were downtown on Feb 9, so we decided to check it out. We were greeted by one of the employees and he offered us a tiny chocolate sample. Instead of getting an assortment of chocolates, we picked on our own. Cremino Pistacchio was my favorite. When we were at the register, we were offered a small cup of sipping hot chocolate which was very delicious! I didn't ask her name, but the employee at the register was very friendly and helpful. We will go back!

The best service and most Outstanding chocolate ! Christine is so passionate about the community she serves and will find you the most perfect sweet treat to fit your dietary needs. I get all my vegan chocolate from her to share with my friends. A must when in Portland!

Omg, yay, I found it-- the first place I ever tried sipping chocolate! This shop holds a special place in my heart as the first shop I ever heard of that served European style sipping chocolate. My friend had read about the shop opening in a local magazine, and she brought me here during our road trip to Oregon and Washington. I asked the owner, "How long have you been here for?" She said, "I've had this shop for about seven years." Yup. Exactly. I've been looking for this place all month. As soon as I set foot inside the door-- maybe even a few steps before that-- I knew. This is the place. The shop is tucked into the front corner of a fancy hotel, but don't be intimidated-- the chocolates start at around $1.50 each. Although most of the chocolate bars have changed, the energy and ambiance was still the same. Compared to all of the other chocolate shops I've visited in Portland, this one has the best selection of chocolate. It's almost comparable to Cafe Xocolatl in Sacramento. I've never seen so much Dubai chocolate anywhere. They must have had 20 different kinds-- everything from $1.50 dark chocolate pistachio truffles to $30 imported gold-infused bars. The sipping chocolate was on the cheaper side at $3 for a small, which is 4 ounces. I ordered a chocolate espresso drink which had two shots of sipping chocolate, two shots of espresso, and whipped cream (they were out of the fresh cream) for $7. When I was asked if I needed sweetener, I said no. This turned out to be the incorrect answer. The flavor was amazing, but it was unbearably bitter. I ended up stirring in some Raspberry chocolate I had purchased from the shop I visited right before this. This shop is perfect for anyone who is looking to experience sipping chocolate for the first time without a crazy price tag, or for anyone who happens to be searching for a wide variety of pistachio flavored dark chocolate.

The last couple of times I was in Portland I stayed at the Heathman, and Azar is attached in one corner. Usually I just have the hotel coffee, but I wanted a Turkish coffee and a little sweet treat in the afternoon. Coffee was good. It takes a little while to brew, but that is Turkish coffee. Take your time to make and drink. There are tons of specialty chocolates and sweets, so you can most likely find something you like, though they do tend to be on the pricy side, which is par for the course with specialty chocolates.

HOT CHOCOLATE HEAVEN! I'm a big hot chocolate fan and I will try any wherever I go. Was in Portland for the weekend and had a hot chocolate one day and fell in love. I had to get another the following day before my flight, I love it so much! It's so rich and everything you could ask for in a hot chocolate. Staff are also super sweet, they remembered my exact order when I came back the following day. I'm super impressed, I'd go back to Portland to get this drink again.

Great little chocolate, tea, place that specializes in unique and premium chocolates. Right now the current craze is the Dubai chocolate with pistachio, which is very crunchy with a creamy texture and a chocolatey melt in your mouth enjoyment. This over here is kind and they're really helpful and keep a little samples every now and then. I have been coming here and if you're trying to get the Dubai chocolate at the bar, which is the main sellers hard to find it goes fast.

They know their chocolate. For a person who knows what they want, they can steer you in the right direction. I was looking for Dubai chocolate and they've got it and it is delish!!! Then I asked for dark 100% and it was sweet and then I asked for milk chocolate with not a lot of sugar and it was also great.... World chocolate and world class knowledge makes this place outstanding!

Inside the Heathman Hotel is this little gem. We came here for the Dubai chocolate bar. The owners were so sweet. They offered us samples as they explained the differences between all of their Dubai chocolate options, from bars they make themselves to bars made by other companies elsewhere. We opted for the dark chocolate (vegan) Dubai chocolate bar made by the owners. They also overheard that it was my friend's birthday and gifted her a little truffle.

9001/9001. After a long and horrible morning finding out about the LA fire devastating my family (yes they're thankfully safe) I came into the most charming and convenient, little chocolate shop. I went in looking to find a quick soothing treat and was given the gift of the kindest and most warm sympathy as well. Shops like Azar are truly what makes Portland weird in the most delightfully wonderful way. I will come back whenever I need that pick me up, and believe me, all my friends will know of their generosity and care.

Love this little gem. I was just walking by and noticed all these treats through the window. I'm a huge lover of chocolates so of course I stopped in and spent time browsing and picking up five bars of heaven. There is so much to choose from. From all over the world as well. Plenty of dark chocolate options for those without a super sweet tooth. They also serve espresso here. Smelled so delightful but I had just picked up a latte down the street.

Absolutely delicious!! So many amazing chocolates to choose from with a variety of flavors from all over the world. We got to try so many unique treats & the shop owner is very nice & was so helpful with recommendations. Their Dubai chocolate bar is so fantastic, I can't get enough of it. I'll definitely be back!

This small chocolatier shop sure packs a wallop! What a fabulous gem of a shop! We were so lucky to have found it! I was in the market for some gourmet Portland-made dark chocolate, as a "thank you" gift for my neighbor who was tending to my plants while I was visiting my kid. My daughter googled chocolate shops when we were downtown, and Mr. Google sent us to Azar. SUCH a good call! The woman and man who work here were incredibly friendly and also knowledgeable about all things chocolate. My kid and I were blown away by how nice these folks were. And wow, what a selection of gourmet chocolates! They had a huge variety of individually-wrapped Turkish delight candies that, had I known which flavors my parents liked, I'd have gotten a ton (there were so many flavors). For my neighbor's gift, the lady recommended a particular box of Portland-made dark chocolate covered caramels that were infused with Portland-harvested honey. A double Portland whammy! And how nice that she also wrapped it and put a "thank you" sticker on it, too. (My neighbor was thrilled to pieces with this Portland-y gourmet gift!). At the cash there were some beautifully packaged chocolates that were 50% off. I also purchased a box of a variety of chocolates from different areas in France. The lady said that the soils were different in each area, so the cocoa produced tastes different from each area. Made sense. It too was beautifully packaged and I gave this box to my kid as a gift for treating me to such a fabulous Portland trip!

I bought chocolate for my SO through online. The owner was very nice and diligent. I had called her prior to putting my online order, and she answered all my questions thoroughly. Even though my SO picked up a day late, she was very accommodating. I had requested a note to be attached to his chocolate, and a very nice handmade card was given with the chocolate! (Honestly, I was just expecting a sticky note.) My partner is still going through the chocolate (got him the dark chocolate assortment box), and he told me his favorite was the cherry-flavored dark chocolate and there was no chocolate that he did not like! I was astonished by the level of service and the owner was so kind. I am definitely going to get myself my own box when I am in town!

Bought some chocolate today. The chocolate is very tasty. Both my wife and I enjoy it. The owner is extremely friendly and offered us recommendations and samples since it was our first time at the shop. The shop is clean. Overall, would come again whenever we are in Portland!

I loveeee their chocolates and the only place i can go and try out their dubai chocolates! the owner is very sweet!! The whole vibe of the place is also very homey! Hot coco was so yummy!

The chocolate was very expensive. The unique Dubai chocolate line that also included biscoff and white chocolate strawberry were $24. Totaling $72 for all three. It felt overpriced.

What a wonderful chocolate experience! Traditional, unique, and some very Portland flavors. We have bought for friends and family, stuffed advent calendars, and sometimes just stop in when we are in the neighborhood. Lovely owner, fantastic chocolate!

Do yourself a favor and go here. Chocolate is silky and its richness is best delivered in a cup. My choice was with a shot of espresso in the "shot in a shot" drink. I also walked away with a few single candy pieces and some unique chocolate bars. I could have spent my savings on some new sports equipment to start my New Years Resolution on a health focus. But then I was like.. nah, I'm gonna refill the chocolate stash at home. I'm really not regretting this choice.

I was in town and found this shop while out for a walk and caught them right at closing. It's a quaint little corner shop with some of the world's best chocolates. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about chocolate.. I encourage you to stop in and give them a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing service! I showed up right when they were closing and the owner helped me pick out the famous dubai chocolate and kindly gave me some free samples!! Just fyi I tried the chocolate as soon as I got home and it's safe to say that my whole family is obsessed.

Oh my Goodness. This spot is a hidden gem . I was just walking around this neighborhood and all of a sudden I saw a picture of a Turkish coffee pot on their window. I stopped and looked at the windows more and I decided to go in to see what's going on inside . As soon as I walked in , as a person born and raised in Middle East I found myself in heaven . They have so many different varieties of hand made chocolates . The lady and her friend that are running the business and ( the lady is the owner) were just absolutely amazing . The lady ( Christine ) jumped right in to show off her talents in customer service with offering me a cute piece of chocolate . I asked if I can take some pictures and she said yes . I took some pictures and I couldn't resist. I ordered a Turkish coffee and I picked one of their chocolates. The price ? Unbelievable. So cheap . And of course I am living in San Francisco. Compare to SF , the price everything in Portland is cheap . I didn't see any place to sit , I asked if there is anywhere nearby that I can sit and they directed me to a library behind their shop . Oh my goodness. Another surprise. That library was sooooooo beautiful. Anyway, at the end Let me tell you what is the bad thing about this place ! The bad thing is that I am not living in Portland so that I can go there every day ! You never been there ? Seriously! You better run .

This is a small, cute chocolate shop that packs a punch. They have excellent hot chocolate! It was smooth, rich, and concentrated. I feel like I can't drink lower-quality hot chocolates now that I have experienced what hot chocolate should taste like. I like how they have chocolate from all over the world, many ones that I haven't heard of before. If you are a chocolate lover, this is THE place for you!

Went here to try the viral pistachio chocolate bar. They were sold out, but man you can't go wrong with anything from this shop. I'm telling you this chocolate is a 10/10. The staff and owner are also very helpful and incredibly sweet. (No pun intended) Will be back for more!

I just love the experience of great chocolate and friendliness that I get from this place!

I am a big dark chocolate fan and just happened to ran into this place walking around Portland downtown and I am so glad that I did. Small little cozy place with an amazing variety of chocolates and drinks. I tried their sipping chocolate and I was blown away. It was hot melted delicious chocolate in a cup. I tried dark chocolate with rose petal and a peanut butter crunch layer nugget. Just visit!!

This small little chocolate shop delivers big tasty flavors with a touch of class! Christine, owner, couldn't be more gracious and accommodating to our group who descended upon her today. Seven eager chocolate lovers enjoyed her famous liquid chocolate. We then found out that she also make a mean milkshake! I call that afternoon delight:) Not to mislead you, her chocolates are first rate and she has gone through years of chocolate-ring to bring us the best flavors, vegan and all! If it's time to treat yourself or treat someone near and dear to you take a daliance in decadence at this sweet shop. It's a gift to all of your senses. The shop is on a corner in a historic building, and it's a small quaint space. It gives you the feeling of a little European boutique. The sight is one to behold as there are chocolates displayed in an elegant arrangement in every space. The smell is a warm air of sweetness, and the taste is a smooth chocolate indulgence enhanced with nuts and fruits. The owner was there, and she truly is genuine and very personable. So, when you have a chance, go treat yourself.

This is a very small shop with a lovely range of chocolates, coffee and tea. We got some salted honey caramels that were divine and the clerk told us we were welcome to enjoy them in the library of the Heathman Hotel, which it is connected to. What?! This place is gorgeous. We are in from out of town and will definitely visit both again.

I can only say great things about this lovely little shop and the woman who runs it with grace, style, and generosity. Everything is delicious--we used to pop in to buy treats before shows downtown at Portland 5--and we can especially recommend the drinking chocolate, full moo or vegan! I've also purchased larger sets for gifts and Christine always includes a little something extra. Above and beyond, every single time. We make a point of stopping by now, whenever we can. Love to support small, locally owned businesses.

The best hot chocolate and kind, genuine people. I usually get a bit anxious going into small intimate shops like this because of how hit or miss they can be, but I am so happy to have stopped by here. The owner is a doll, and speedy service to boot!

Fantastic experience! Christine was/is every bit as helpful and nice as the reviews state. I started off with getting a shot of espresso with a shot of sipping chocolate. Delicious! I then bought an assortment of chocolates and other treats for a friend, all which look incredible. Christine has both milk and dark chocolate items, which was great as my friend is a fan of milk chocolate only. Christine guided me through everything with patience as I asked about each item. She then packaged it all up beautifully and put it in a nice gift bag, helping to make it that much more special. Thank you, Christine! You were wonderful! I wish you much success, and will surely be back.

While not the most comprehensive chocolate store in Portland, Azar is unique and a great amenity for the Heathman Hotel. It seems most people will visit this place as a coffee shop, but I didn't have any. I did note that they serve Cafe Umbria, which is a great brand whose shops I frequent. They also serve drinking chocolate, if that's your jam. For chocolates this store offers two selections: bars from across the country and Belgian-style truffles from Lebanon. The selection of the former is small but well curated, you should be able to find something. The latter is what makes this shop truly stand out. Lebanese chocolates are rare for this part of the world, and I think offering them helps to make the world a little bit smaller. That's something I can get behind. They are kinda spendy, but since when are fancy chocolates and truffles not?

Omg! Outstanding chocolate. Although she doesn't make any herself, and they are rather pricey, she does and amazing job at sourcing these delicious treats. It's a small small shop but very cute. The pistachio nugget was smooth and wonderful. The dark chocolate orange slices were out of this world. We got around 7-8 pieces and it cost $20. I know I know. But each piece was simply wonderful and delicious. I couldn't do this all the time, so I definitely get the name indulgence Highly recommend.

I received a gift card for Azar Indulgences and went in today to use it and I'm so happy I did. The selection of chocolates is creative and abundant. The customer service is also excellent. I was treated to a sipping chocolate while I browsed and was made to feel very much at home. I've sampled two of the chocolates so far, a hazelnut treat with a crispy cookie in the mix that was absolutely perfect and another chocolate with a lovely chocolate cake center that was just to die for. The experience and chocolates exceeded all expectations. Go treat yourself to some Azar Indulgences!

Very nice chocolate selection. All chocolates are of high quality, no corn syrup, no GMO, etc. Some are vegan, GF, dairy free... lots of flavors to choose from. Also serves Rishi teas. Nice lady who works there who is very informative about the chocolates.

Whoa! Sipping chocolate so deep and delicious that involuntary sounds of pleasure will escape your mouth. A wide variety of delicious candies and chocolates, all presented beautifully and with expert knowledge from the owner, Christine. I count myself fortunate to work close by so that I can stop by regularly, and also bring friends to this wonderful shop.
