Azteca Mexican Restaurant

We visited this restaurant during new year holidays. The location was very convenient with a free parking lot in front. Interior decoration was absolutely artistic! Oscar who was our server was very nice and helpful. Our food served in a fabulous looks and warm; even my Steak Fajitas was sizzling! Waiting time was very reasonable. They had a happy hours for drinks during our visit. A free tortilla and salsa served as an appetizer too! I highly recommend this location for anyone hungry for Mexican food.

Food: Menu states that the steak is marinated, but there is no marinated flavor to the steak. Just a typical steak meat taste. I was hoping for more veggies that were cooked in the steak fajitas. I was also disappointed that everything on the bottom was getting burnt. Chips - overdone and you need to chomp on these chips while to break them down in your mouth. Salsa - A dark red flavor of a salsa with an occasional Wa-bam pepper to soccer up your life. Guacamole - 10/10 if only I had some crispy salty chips fresh out of the fryer. Side Salad: 10/10 freshness score won here. Service: Spot on excellent service at the table, but the front desk wait was leaving me to ask where was the intro to such an awesome looking restaurant. Atmosphere: The place looks huge and full of history. Felt like I was sitting in the back corner. Lol Anyways I would like to come back and see if this restaurant has something I missed.

The food, atmosphere and specially the service was too good. If you are around and hungry please visit this place. 5 stars for everything

Okay, so I checked out that place at 17555 Southcenter Pkwy in Tukwila. Wow, it's seriously huge – felt a little lost in there! The atmosphere was really impressive, like a big piece of history. The food was… a mixed bag. Portions were small for the price, and some things like the steak didn’t have much flavor. The salad was fantastic though, super fresh. Parking was crazy busy, and there was a long wait at the front desk. I’d like to give it another shot sometime and see if I missed something special.

Really enjoyed the food and the vibe here. The decorations are so amazing that you felt like in Mexico. Food portions are large and we loved the Mexican pizzas.

Just got back from Southcenter Pkwy – that place is massive! The atmosphere was really cool, like stepping into a huge Mexican restaurant. My food was good, especially the Mexican pizzas, and the portions were seriously generous. There was a long wait at the front, which was a bit frustrating. The staff were super friendly though. Parking was a bit of a struggle, but overall, I’d definitely go back and explore what else they have.

The building itself is exceptional in every way. It would suggest that you are in for an incredible dining experience. This is true until you get to the food. The prices are high. The portions are small. The quality and appearance of the food items suggest they could have been just purchased frozen or canned from Winco. There was nothing in the meal, from the chips and salsa to the main course, is worth a repeat.

I had a wonderful Carne Asada steak on a flat iron pan with rice and beans ... and it was absolutely delicious. It was made just right ... lime margarita to top it off, and I was happy. Excellent establishment, they say they've been around 50 years -- for good reason

Definitely better than I expected. I got an old fashioned. It was $15, which I think is insane, but inflation is the theme right now and not really an Azteca issue. The flavor was fine. Chips and salsa were fine. Chips were fresh. I ate a slice of the Mexican pizza. It was good, but I'm generally not the biggest fan of super thin pizza like this. I like pizza where the crust has more presence. We ordered the tacos al pastor. I thought those were quite good, a relatively respectable street taco. Mainly, the meat was fatty and juicy, and they didn't put too much other crap on it aside from cilantro, onion, and a lime wedge. Of course, I still loaded it with more stuff, but giving the meat a chance to talk is important for a street taco. Nice thick wraps. Finally, I noticed something called a molcajete on the menu. I don't remember having this before, so I had to try it. It's like a Mexican curry stew...thing (well molcajete, I guess, refers to the bowl itself, which also doubles as like a mortar?). I opted for steak, but our server (I think his name was Fausto?) suggested getting mixed meats instead, which was technically not on the menu. Thanks bro. By my count, there were four types of meat. My favorite, by far, would be the beef in the stew itself. This was smoky, tender, and had absorbed the umami of the stew. After that, I would rank them as 1) prawns 2) steak 3) chicken. The prawns were fat and gained great flavor from everything. The steak was kinda overdone and just okay. Finally, the chicken was your generically dry and rubbery American garbage. Also, having all that meat hanging out of the bowl looks good, but doesn't make much sense in terms of logistics or food pairing. I still have to transfer that huge slab of chicken to a plate to cut it or start ripping chunks off with my teeth. My preference would be to have both the steak and the chicken in bite size pieces to begin with. Oh yeah, the jalapeño in the molcajete was super spicy. So spicy that I didn't think it was a jalapeño, but Fausto said it was. I had no problem eating part of it, but see, like, I can eat really spicy food. If I thought it was super spicy, some *cough* white *cough* person is going to end up in the hospital at some point. LOL

We love going here. The service is friendly and reasonably efficient. The ambience is fantastic - very cozy. The food is delicious. Currently they are having a fun holiday flight of margaritas - you can choose from a long list of flavors and get 3 for around 20 bucks. Comes out very pretty in a wooden serving "plank." What I like about Azteca is they have a variety of menu options from those you might expect to those that are not as commonly found. The carne asada is a local favorite as well as a favorite of ours (sells out sometimes!); though everything we try here is fantastic.

We both carne asada which was delicious beef skirt steak. Serves with rice and beans (bit too salty) . We mistakenly ordered chicken taquitos as appetizers and out came a full platter of 1 inch thick chicken wrapped an fried in flour tortillas! We thought they were the skinny rolls. Was good served with sour cream and fresh mashed guacamole. By time we get our entree we wee full. Was delicious but next time no taquitos. I wished they had more authentic items like steak picado in tomatoes onion bell peppers stewed. Overall we walked out full and satisfied. Service was friendly and prompt. Restaurant was nice spaced apart and well decorated. Plenty free parking.

We had dinner here for a party of 26. We made a last minute reservation and we were accommodated right away, thank you! The menu was large with many options. Food came out hot, big portions and flavorful! The servers were friendly and stopped by often to check our table. We enjoyed our drinks too!

I haven't eaten here in 20+ years because I no longer live in the area but decided this would be a good place to go with family during a quick overnight in Tukwila. I still love the atmosphere here! Saltillo tile, grand ceilings and good lighting. The server was very friendly but he was a slow. The food was good but not amazing. My husband and I split a Mexican pizza and a pollo ala Crema. The tortillas that came with the pollo dish were flour, quite small and we only got three. The chips are a little thicker than I prefer and the salsa was quite mild. All in all it was a decent meal.

Food was greasy and below-par. Really, there was no flavor or quality to the food items that we had ordered. The 2 stars that I give is mainly due to the good service that we received from the waiter. She was nice, friendly and gave us good suggestions. Ambiance was just ok, nothing to talk about. Both the restaurant and bar areas were mostly empty. I had a good food experience couple of years back at a different Azteca so i feel like either the quality in this chain restaurant has gone down significantly or maybe it's just this location.

Now I know why the parking lot was mostly empty on a Saturday afternoon..... The food was good - but you get VERY little of it for the prices they're charging. I ordered the tacos pastor; you get three tacos with about 3/4 of a cup of filling spread out amongst the three corn tortillas. The sad little tortillas folded inward because they were so empty. Maybe a half a cup of refried beans spread across your plate, and a cup of Spanish rice. I understand eating out at restaurants is an expensive proposition anymore - and we've cut down on doing so for that reason. But - you don't want to feel like you're being taken advantage of - and we left feeling this way. Great service. Won't be back though.

Came to Azteca for early dinner with my hubby. I like to come to here bcz nice atmosphere and friendly services. We ordered Original Enchilada and Tacos al pastor. The amount of food is large, so you can order one and share it with two people. I think Azteca Mexican food is easy to eat every time.

Mid Mexican food with small portions. Flavorless. Greasy. Their new own brand of IPA was 5/5 though. Close this crappy chain and just sell the beer. 25 years ago, Azteca was awesome. Large portions, good prices. Their Carne Asada, for example, since the pandemic, now has 1/2 the meat and nearly double the price as before. Can I make better Mexican food at home? Yes, and I am a terrible cook.

Stopped by during lunch on a Tuesday afternoon with a couple of friends. We were starving. The place was empty. My hopes for good service were high. I ordered the Jalisco enchiladas. After scarfing down a basket of chips and salsa, I was served a plate of completely burnt and dried out enchiladas. I mistakingly tried to take a bite any way. It was like trying to eat a fingernail. Why would you even serve this plate to a customer??? I ate some of the rice and beans and when the waitress came by one of my friends mentioned the burnt food, she called over the manager. He looked at it and said "ya, it's overcooked". No apology, no offer for new enchiladas. They just whisked the plate away as if that would solve the problem. This used to be my go to Mexican food, however, they now lost me as a customer.

Nice atmosphere. Quick service, kind server. There are complimentary chips, salsa AND mashed beans with cheese. Food was pipping hot and delicious. Recommended! Yummm

Azteca is one of my favorite all time Mexican restaurants. The drinks are made so good, and the food is always great! The service never dissapokyme

The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. It wasn't overly crowded for a Friday, and our chips and salsa were refilled when empty. I came with my boyfriend and we got just split the Mexican pizza appetizer. It was delicious. We might have got something else to share, but the prices were outrageous. I'd like to have tried more, but the food was just so expensive.

First time here and the food and drinks was really good. The decor inside is really nice! Didn't take a photo of the Horchata Martini but it was ok. It didn't taste how I thought it would be (thought it would have more of a horchata taste).

Nastiest take out I've had in forever, felt like my 7 year old nephew was in the back cooking. Mediocre ingredient quality and poor execution. Salsa tastes like booty:()

Great service here! We love the spicy shrimp appetizer and the guacamole! Prices are a bit high and there needs to be more seafood a d inspired vegetarian choices....but our server was so personable and helpful.

As I say my husband n I are regular customers for soo long and lately it is not the same . The food is not that great because they cut down the portion of the food and the prices are the same .Like today we ordered Carne asada they don't put shredded lettuce anymore n they changed the plate i into dishing the food on the carving tray that's not acceptable.Servers a great .Ambiance is not so good as well .Something needs to be done they even cut down on the salsa and chips and what happened to the guacamole so little portion..I am just so disappointed with this restaurant .

They were able to accommodate our large party... everything was set up before we got there... endless chips and salsa... strong margaritas... really good enchilada ala crema... large portions... friendly and attentive staff! Will definitely be back!!!

This order was to go. The food was great especially so far removed from the "southern border". Very fast service which was appreciated. I paid $5 for a side of avocado and what I received was 1 sliver. (Pictured) disappointed.

The food is very buttery and good, it's hot and filling. The service and customer service is very nice and personable and the atmosphere is comfortable and quiet. The margaritas are exquisite, and the lemonade is sweet. Definitely recommend Azteca Mexican restaurant.

I have not ordered takeout since Covid and ordered today 10/13/24. I ordered Arroz con Pollo. Everything was perfect including my small asks with 3 jalepenos which were deep fried to perfection and the sauces requested were there and present. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and I am impressed with the high quality of their take out. I will use them over and over again

There is one person in particular that ruined my experience here. That person is Sandra. She did not give me a good experience here. But other than that the food was just okay. I wouldn't bother to come again.

Food & service was amazing! And the drinks were just as good. The waiter was so nice and respectful and always checked up on us and made sure our night was great.

I don't care what people think I've always loved coming here. Drinks are always delicious & honestly you can't go wrong with the portions here! Not only that, the servers are super friendly & attentive. Taquitos are a must! Definitely go for the carne asada combo, I chose a chicken enchilada with mines but I believe you can choose a taco as another option. We also got the steak fajitas which came with all the fixings including warm tortillas! Like I said the portions are huge & worth what you pay for you. Also they are never too busy!

First time here, I order one of the simplest things on menu. Never had a cóctel de camarón with pico de gallo in it instead of fresh chopped tomatoes and onions in it. Doesn't taste well, would not recommend. 6/10. PS: Waiter was excellent though.

Maria is the best! I've come here several times for treating my employees. I never have to wait very long before my food is ready. The waiting area is clean, pleasant and the music creates a relaxing atmosphere.

This restaurant is located off of Southcenter Parkway and located near Hobby Lobby. From the outside, it doesn't appear spacious but it actually is a large restaurant once you walk in. The service was excellent from start to finish. Chips and salsa is standard once you are seated. Orders for drinks and entrées follow aftwards. The food came out within 5-6 minutes after ordering. The Carne Asada is pricy but worth every dollar. Many Mexican restaurants do not cook this skirt steak with the proper marinade. This restaurant does and the taste does demonstrate this. Waters were refilled in a timely manner and the check was correct and accurate. Kudos to this restaurant for making us feel welcomed and leaving very satisfied.

Azteca has really gone downhill ever since covid. I thought maybe it was just one location but nope unfortunately not. And I have seen similar reviews from other people so I know it's not just me. This used to be the only place I would go to for Mexican food. Now sadly their food is very Bland. There are much better Mexican restaurants around. Pretty sad. Thanks Azteca for ruining a good thing

The bad service started from the time I walked in, we waited over 5 minutes before the host ever walked over and greeted us to sit us at a table. We almost left right as she finally walked over. The server was not the best and the food was not good. I ordered the lunch chicken fajita's and the service size was decent- I got 3 tacos out of it. The chicken lacked flavor and seasoning. I don't think they season the chicken at all. The chips were ok, but the salsa wasn't very good or flavorful either. The server forgot to bring my coke that I ordered and when she finally returned to the table it was to give us our food. I would have loved my drink way before this. The rice was so plain and tasted like plain white rice. I do not recommend, there's other places in the area that are better.

I ordered chicken mole enchiladas and it was not good. It wasn't seasoned (even salt and pepper) and was the worse mole I've ever had. Service was just ok as it was busy that night and I was in bar area. The only thing good about dinner was the quantity of food was plenty for a hungry person.

Food was pretty good. Tortillas were store bought. Beans were from a can. Chile verde was bomb. Mangoneanda was pretty good. Ceviche was soooo good The carne asada y mojo was fireeee. The mushrooms were Gucci We were just depressed that our rental car window was destroyed so couldn't enjoy it that much.

We've been coming here for a long time. Always good food when we go. Good service every time we go in even when they get busy. Juanita is the best so friendly, nice and great service.

This was our lunch stop on our way to Olympic National park. This place is like any other average(but grand infrastructure-like) Mexican restaurant. Food and Drink: the food was okay, nothing out of teh ordinary. The ground beef quesadillas were good and I liked the Patron Cantarito. Also liked their ceviche. In-all: Good for a quick stop, for some decent food.

Had lunch today on the patio, enjoying the sun. Service was quick and very friendly. Molcajete lunch was the perfect size accompanied with rice and beans. It was delicious. Wish I could have tried the margarita, but alas I needed to continue to drive thru my day. Come and enjoy the patio soon!

Obviously this isn't considered a Five-Star glamour restaurant, but this place was definitely a Four-Star family restaurant! Food and service were both awesome. I know I usually do these long reviews, but I'm tired and my brain doesn't want to really think. Overall, just go there and eat! Also, first-time Yelp check in got me 10% off my bill.

One of my favorite Mexican places. Like their enchiladas and the sauce. Always a full plate, tasty and the people working always with a smile to share. Will be back.

Something's changed since the last time I ate here (maybe a year ago)? The food is way more flavorful, portions seem bigger (even if they are not). But the most important thing is how much better the food tastes! I don't know if the menu changed, maybe the cook? But I really enjoyed my meal this time! I hope they keep this level of service! Raphael was a very fast attentive server!

The struggle is real when trying to eat out on Keto. Azteca is a great Keto friendly option. Sure there are staple items you have to skip on, having to say no to a bowl of chips and salsa or having to pass on a sugary margarita. But there are a ton of great menu items you can have. (And a tequlia shot!) Plus you can always add more cheese, sour cream, and guac to your meal. Stand out menu items: 1) Appetizer: Mariscos Mojo de Ajo Shrimp sautéed with mushrooms and onions in butter, crushed red peppers and fresh garlic. Slightly spicy. *Comes with an extra bowl of hot butter dipping sauce. 2) Dinner: Fajitas for Two (Good portions!) Served family style. Choose any two: chicken, steak shrimp, or carnitas. * Say no to the tortillas. * You can substitue the beans and rice for a big plate of steamed veggies. * Comes with sauteed onions and peppers, cheese, sour cream, and guac. It was great to be able to eat out. I was ravenous when we sat down and stuffed when we left. I would 100% do this again and recomend it to anyone who is looking for menu with diverse options that fit a keto friendly lifestyle.

I love Azteca we love their fajita and lamb shank very tasty and well seasoned but lamb is different size each time sometimes very big sometimes very small

What happened to Azteca? The best thing we had was the French fries in my daughter's kids meal. Service was good. Food was over processed and under seasoned.

Holy moly these portions are enormous! If you're looking for some good, family-style Mexican food in the burbs with leftovers for days, this is your spot. My fiance and I dined here after a day of shopping around at furniture stores in the area. We were seated immediately and treated very kindly. Before we knew it there were chips and salsa on the table (pretty standard, but good) and the margaritas we ordered came quickly afterward. These were good, strong, and priced right. I opted to order from their combo menu and the the portions blew me away. The beans and rice were good. The cheese enchilada I ordered was comforting and simple. And the burrito was also very good. Our service was great and the food was good. Add that in with the prices and I'm happy. I'd definitely come back to eat when I'm in the area.

I ordered to go today. When I went inside they only had a good rating which surprised me because my food has always been good from the Southcenter Azteca. I should have checked my food before I left the restaurant because there was not as much sauce as normal i.e. enchilada sauce on my enchiladas. I ordered beef enchiladas, and to my surprise I have chicken in my beef enchiladas. I'm very disappointed because this is not the quality of food I usually get from this restaurant. The tortillas texture was like sort of gritty and I was very disappointed. Even after warming it up when I got home the texture was not right. I had to pour the container of salsa over it and didn't change the texture. What is going on with your cooks cooking?

We're from out of town at a training for the airlines we landed here by accident and it was amazing... the service and food was some of the best we've had we will be back next time we are in Seattle

Azteca is your run of the mill chain Mexican restaurant. Nothing terribly authentic, service is mediocre, and aside from the arroz con pollo, the food is just ok. They have a great drink menu, however the drinks themselves leave you feeling a little cheated. They are weak and sugary or if you like a good sangria like me, a sheer disappointment. The best thing they have going for them is the chips and salsa. If you ask for beans on the side, be prepared to feel like you just asked for the life of their first born child....EVERYTIME. I would give them 2 stars but because I love the arroz con pollo here, I'm gonna give credit where credit is due.

I ordered two chicken meals. Pollo ala crema being one but both plates were overloaded with with vegetables & barely any chicken trying to make it look as if we got our moneys worth.. However it wasn't even close to worth the $18 a plate.. When this was brought to the Male manager attention (Armando, I think) on 3/9 he couldn't have cared any less. He told me "that's too bad but that's the portions". Even though the waiter completely agreed & genuinely apologized the manager was quite rude & dismissive. I grew up in this area, I know the Ramos family & this is not the great food & service I've grown accustomed to.. I do hope Victor looks into & corrects this poor performance. They're usually great all around, just not today..
