My group of three was actually headed elsewehere when we decided to walk into Azucar Lounge on Friday, November 17th around 10:30pm. There were a few people here, but all the tables had reserved signs, so we were sat at the communal table by the bar.
*Chicharron de Harina: puffed rings of pasta, chili pequin, lime ($5)
*Oaxacan Peanuts: roasted with garlic, arbol chile, lime ($4.50)
*Queso Blanco: jalapeno, parmesan sauce, house made tortilla chips ($9.50)
*Sangria Blanco: chablis, house herbs and spices ($8)
*Michelada: mexican lager, lime juice, mexican spices ($9)
*House Margarita ($9) x2
*Casadores Reposado ($11) x5
We really only came here to drink, but ended up getting some snacks. I only tried the queso cuz I'm a cheese fanatic. It was ooey and cheesy, though I do prefer an orange queso over white. I think it's a comfort thing. The other apps seemed okay though the peanuts were kind of burnt. Maybe they were roasted for a tad too long as there were some black and bitter pieces. For the drinks, I got the two margaritas and two shots. They didn't have a standard marg on the menu, so our server just had the bartender make me one. It was fine, but I wanted it stiffer, so I had them add a shot to my second one.
Glad we stumbled upon this place, but I ended up being baffled by all the reserve signs as we were the only people in the bar towards the end of our two hour stay here. Would have been way more cozy to sit at one of their comfy tables. Maybe it's a crowd control thing, but if I were to ever come back, I'd definitely reserve a table instead. Those bar seats were not comfy. Oh well, now I know.
