Recommendations for What to Eat, Drink, Read, and Watch This Weekend  - Eater SF

"When the pandemic kicked in, Jonathan Ojinaga was hit with a double whammy: He owns a bar, a tough gig when people can't congregate indoors; and that bar, Azucar Lounge, is in SoMa, an area left empty when offices and tech companies emptied out in March." - Eater Staff

Google
what a chill, cool find. excellent and creative drink menu, food (good vegan options!), and welcoming staff. really good vibes in this place.

Google
We came here two nights in a row and it was great. Fun atmosphere but also chill and good for a conversation. Bartenders are really great and friendly. We started to talking to a bartender about an upcoming trip and he gave us a recommendation..and even spent some time finding it for us on yelp and everything! Also the margaritas are great, and churros and yummy too.

This place is a hidden gem. The service was stellar, the food was amazing and the cocktails were top notch. I highly recommend this cozy little bar!!

If you're visiting San Francisco from outside California or the American Southwest, and maybe you're going to a drag show at Oasis after, this restaurant really might open you up to a style and quality of Mexican food that could really blow your mind. I'm from Phoenix so this was just pretty standard fair to me. Let's say 5/5 for gay Midwesterners 3/5 if you have easy access to Mexican food more local to you and 4/5 if this is your neighborhood Mexican restaurant.

$12 Unlimited tacos on Tuesday. You get to choose between beef or vegetable tacos. The beef tacos we're pretty delicious! We got their at around 3pm on Tuesday without a reservation and was seated right away because no one was off work yet. We for the unlimited tacos deal, margaritas and chips and guac. I didn't really enjoy the guac, I thought it was bland but the boyfriend thought it was good. I would go back for the taco Tuesday deal and skip the chips and guac. (edited post because we arrived at 3pm rather than 4pm, per my receipt)

Lounge vibe is really nice. Staff is super friendly and attentive without being too invasive. The food is decent. I would go back for super chill scene, and the drinks. The tender really knows how to slang some dranks! I left with a full belly and a nice buzz.

Google
We came by for outdoor dining today and had a great experience at Azucar! My husband and I ordered a couple tacos each and I added the extra beans and rice. All of the tacos were very good, flavorful with a hint of spice that builds until suddenly you realize your nose is running. In other words, they were perfectly seasoned. The tortillas were homemade and excellent. The mezcal margaritas were also delicious, made with fresh lime juice. The parklet is a very pleasant patio experience, especially in the perfect weather we had today. We really enjoyed our visit!

Google
Plentiful Vegetarian & vegan options and great cocktails. The vegan tacos were tasty and imaginative. Even though they were very busy, we had out food within 15 minutes.

Yelp
Oh Azucar, I am so fond of you! 4.5 Stars This place is fun and great, and the food is always so delicious. It's a very comfortable environment, super casual. The people who work there are friendly, just awesome. We ordered delivery from there not long ago. Nearly packaged and quite tasty. EVERYTHING was compostable. Super impressed by that. Only critique: the chips are hit or miss

Yelp
Service was excellent and the place has a nice ambiance to it! We ordered the chilaquiles, ceviche and margaritas. The margs were 10/10 def recommend. The chilaquiles were ok but didn't have too much flavor. I'd pass on the ceviche given that the portion is not worth the price. The portion was a lot smaller than we expected. It was served in a small salsa bowl with more chips than ceviche. This was our first time here. I would come again to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
I like this place a lot. We were in the area for a team building at the Clayroom just half a block down. After our event, we walked over to Azucar for a late lunch. We shared a round of chips and guacamole which was really good. I ordered the shrimp taco and they were definitely delicious. My colleagues loved everything they ordered. Service was great. Our waitress was friendly and quick. Churros were perfect! I'd definitely return if I was in the area. It's a cute, fun place with delicious food.

Our first meal in San Fran and it was a treat , managed to catch the last minutes of Happy Hour which was a bonus. Friendly Staff , delicious food and the Sangria was

Yelp
One of our favorite places to grab a drink and a bite before going out to the clubs to dance. They've got phone chargers to borrow and great hospitality. And omg the food is good, not too greasy like some spots are, and the taquitos are probably my favorite in SF. Awesome drinks too!! Great margs if you're feeling boozy and great agua Fresca if you're not. And a super cozy setting with cute "stained glass" of margaritas and birds on the windows and warm lighting and lots of smiles inside. And I loooove the rice and beans. Mmmm.
google avatar

Yelp
Food tasted okay but portions are so small it's not enough to keep you full. This is Barbie house size!!
google avatar

Yelp
You won't find this on any "best of" list, but that doesn't mean it's not great! This local corner eatery serves tacos and burritos that are as good as any you'll find around town. The burritos were my favorite. A regular will run you about $12 which is reasonable for the taste. The veggie options are a standout like the soyrizo (a veggie chorizo) or the cauliflower tacos. The drink list us extensive abs fun with twists on margaritas and palomas among others. Staff is very friendly and recognizes regulars. You'll love your visit in this cozy spot loved by locals.

Yelp
Walking by this place a few times I thought it was a tequila bar, so I never went inside. But, then I saw food on Yelp and headed over. NICE! They have some typical Mexican dishes and drinks that are made with some localized style. I had a burrito that filled me up with goodness. The guacamole was excellent, we ordered a double. The tacos a bit too large to eat like a taco, but delicious nonetheless. Oddly, the fish tacos came out a bit late, so our food did cool a bit as we waited. The bar has a speakeasy vibe in the back and the couches and chairs give a great homey feeling. It never got crowded, but once word catches on, this place will be a wait. I'm interested to see this place in a few months, since I think it will be a hit.

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation of a friend who loves this place. I came during happy hour and grabbed a seat by the bar. The bartenders were courteous and for water, they also provided a lime in the cups. Got a Desayuno del Cantinero (beer and shot), chips/salsa, Quesadilla Pequenas, and Nopales fries. The frozen cocktail (of the day) included mezcal, lavender, and blueberry (it's the purple one in my photos). The Desayuno and frozen cocktail were okay. My favorite part of my order was the quesadilla (super cheesy and just melted perfectly in your mouth) and the Nopales fries (I love breaded fried bites) and would recommend those if that Will definitely come back!

Yelp
So fricking good. The quesadilla with zucchini is delicious, as is the guacamole. Perfect place to stop for chips, guac and snacks.

Yelp
Eric gave such good recommendations! The chorizo breakfast burrito was outstanding!! So so so good! Thank you for such an amazing experience!!!

Yelp
I've actually had the pleasure of eating various food items here and I really like the food. My friend Heather really enjoys the tots with carnitas I enjoy the thoughts as well. However the churro dessert is really good. This place is a must try if you're in San Francisco.

Yelp
Overall 9/10. We live close by to this place and decided to try them one night. Since then, they've become a regular take out spot for us. We always get their burritos and they are divine! We both agree the burritos almost (if not) identical to La Taqueria in the Mission. The burritos are perfectly seasoned with great portions of all the fillings. Each bite is perfect as if is, and you don't feel the need to add any sauces. With the burritos, they also give you a generous portion of complimentary chips and salsa. We always get take out, but the inside is very cute and has a couple of lounge-y spots that would be perfect to grab a drink. Staff is always super nice when we pick up our orders. If you're like me and don't like going to the Mission for good burritos or you're just in the area, I'd highly recommend checking them out.

Yelp
The food and wine were delightful, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the music was just perfect for a gathering of three old friends who wanted to relax and enjoy each others company. We very much look forward to our next reservation!

Yelp
This is a cozy, clean place for Mexican food in soma! We got the ceviche & tots - both were really good! Happy hour sangria was $7. There were many table seats as well as couches in the lounge area! Very relaxing atmosphere! Service was great as well! Unfortunately they don't do taco Tuesdays now which was what we came for... but the server let us know that they are working on bringing it back:) would definitely come for it when they do!

Yelp
Came here with a group of my girlfriends on a Friday evening. We made reservations on Opentable, but the place was really empty...like we were the only ones there empty haha. That was fine with us though. We sat in a booth and used their online menu to order a bunch of appetizers to share. We ordered the following: 1. Queso with chips 2. Chips and Salsa 3. Guacamole 4. Quesadilla 5. Churros 6. Margaritas We definitely ordered a lot of chips, the queso (1), salsa (2), and guacamole (3) all came with chips. Our favorite of the 3 was the queso. The quesadilla (4) was also good, not the kind of quesadilla you would get from a taqueria, but still tasty. It actually had zucchini in it, which threw us off a bit. The churros (5) were probably our favorite dish of the night. It came with a chocolate dipping sauce that was just heavenly. Highly recommend getting that if you come here! Overall, the service was efficient and the food was good. Would want to come back here for their margarita specials.

Yelp
Last night I died and went to taco heaven. ...actually, I got smashed at the Oasis and stumbled down the street for more cocktails, where I was met with the most divine tortilla adorned with saucy little meats that did the most joyful dance around my tongue! Their classic margherita is simply classic. Just perfect. Their tacos are made with super fresh tortillas that are so soft, supportive, and comforting - a genuine hug around perfectly prepared meats and salsas. The carnitas were some of the best I've ever had. They've also got an impressive selection of veg options, if you're feeling veg-o. Indoor dining, or you can order from the window on the sidewalk for to-go or outdoor parklet dining. Open LATE (midnight)! The staff were attentive, professional, and chill. A+, definitely recommend, can't wait to stumble here again!

Yelp
Tequila Tequila Tequila All jokes aside, this place has a great friendly feel for small groups wanting a cozy, low key environment with great food and drinks assortment. They have a bar full of fantastic tequilas and other beverages along with good tacos. What topped off the experience was the extremely friendly staff and owner. Definitely recommend if in the area looking for a quick bite. Food: Guacamole & Chips, Quesadilla 5/5: One of my favorite guac dips I had in a while, light and refreshing. Paired great with the tortilla chips & quesadilla and really rounded out the meal. The quesadilla was served in bite size potions and was a solid appetizer. Tacos (Carnitas & spicy) 4.5/5: Very flavorful and juicy tacos with a great sauce(pictures) that gives a nice kick but doesn't overpower the meal. Tortilla was nice and soft and was a good size Churros 4/5: The churros were delicious, not too crispy and not too soft. As with anything, you need to eat these right away as once they sit and cool they become a bit too mushy for my taste. Experience: I came with a large group having a semi- private event with many different shared platters and the service and quality of the event was great. The servers/ bartender were extremely friendly as well. Some of the best service I've had in the area. Pro tip: The area around isn't the best to walk around at night and hop from place to place so I'd recommend visiting during the day/ evening.

Yelp
The food is amazing. But the server was a bit spicy. I didn't need her to make me feel dumb. It was funny.

Karen G.

Yelp
Bad food and bad service. Very small and bland sides. Watered down drinks. Server was a jerk when my food never came and everyone else had there's. Said they were busy and didn't bother to check until it was obvious it was forgotten.

Ohanna D.

Yelp
I went with my friends today, and it was such a great time. Taco Tuesday the best . My server was amazing. Every detail that they have with Mexican flags, made me feel in Mexico. I love the ambiance.
google avatar

Thu N.

Yelp
The tacos here are incredible! I highly recommend the shrimp tacos. The sauce is spicy enough to burn your fingers, and two tacos are enough to be filling enough for dinner. Highly recommend coming here for drinks as well -- the margaritas and sangrias were flavorful and refreshing.
google avatar

Lanie H.

Yelp
We've eaten here twice and enjoyed both meals. We really enjoyed the beef tamales and the tinga pollo tacos. The carnitas taquitos lacked flavor , but the guacamole was tasty and the Azucar cocktail was delicious. Service was friendly but slow.

Yelp
** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** Now here's a perfect example of a place I would've never patronized unless there was a sweeping pandemic that turned everything inside out...literally. I've walked by it many, many times but just figured it was a bar for the young SoMa whippersnappers, the grunge types who call me 'Pops' and force me to say things like, "You kids make this world lousy!" Wait, that was "West Side Story", wasn't it? Anyhow, I was taking my evening constitutional when I took notice they were doing takeout as well as selling certain grocery items like fruit compotes, preserves, and salsas. Given that it is indeed a bar lounge, you would think the menu would be limited to bar bites and cocktails-to-go... But they also offer meal kits as well like a pound of carnitas or roasted cauliflower if you prefer. I went small and ordered the $7.50 set of Mini Sopes, a half-dozen of them on thick mini-corn tortillas layered with mushrooms, cauliflower, beans, salsa fresca, and queso fresco (photo: https://bit.ly/3hCmWli). They were like poppers but really flavorful with welcome texture. Of course I had to get the $6.50 Chips and Salsa because after all, I was at a bar. The salsa was genuinely fresh, and the chips filled the paper bag (photo: https://bit.ly/2WVCKrr). The owners have built a fenced-in outdoor space to accommodate their regulars, the ones who need to get their cerveza on. Hiya Pops! Hello, young whippersnappers. FOOD - 4 stars...tasty bar bites in a box (and a bag)...no question AMBIANCE - n/a...the outdoor space was one of the more thoughtful ones I've seen...for me, it was about the takeout SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly and making the most of a tough situation TOTAL - 4 stars...I feel like seeing "West Side Story" now RELATED - Exploring this part of SoMa? Here's a collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2H0vGTV

Alexander C.

Yelp
They were out of a lot of things on the menu. The drinks all sounded great, but were lackluster when they arrived. The food was fine. $8.50 two street tacos is a little steep, but the carnitas was tender.
google avatar

Benny W.

Yelp
I had the Shrimp Azucarito today, and it was delicious. They used fresh high quality ingredients. The togo orders come in a reusable tin box. Text them after your meal, and they come to pick them up.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
The best Chili Relleno I've had in San Francisco! Service is always great. Can get a little loud in there. Prices are very reasonable.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Since I'm moving to a new city soon, I'm visiting all the places I wanted to keep on my bucket list. Azucar was one of them. It's so close to where my now-husband used to live, and relatively close to Civic Center station. I came here with a friend who lives in East Bay, and it turned out to be quite a night. Possibly because I had just come from the gym, even one tiki drink got me tipsy. We ordered some tacos to absorb the alcohol (well, and eat for dinner) and they were super delicious. The ceviche and thin tortilla chips were refreshing as well. Would highly recommend everything we ordered. This is a popular spot for private events, and even when it's not a buyout, companies still have happy hour events. Luckily it wasn't busy when we were there, but the music was a little too loud for our liking. Customer service was good. Overall it was missing some special edge to earn five stars from me, but I'd totally come here again.
google avatar

Yelp
The great thing about SF is there's a lot of good eats sometimes on the most random streets. This place is just that. This is some great Mexican food, the tacos, burrito, and the tater tots were all incredible! They have nice tables that are great for larger parties to lounge too.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
A very festive indoor vibe with leather sofas and beautiful wood interior and decorations! I loved their extensive cocktail menu, including the Caipirinha, which I learned is the national cocktail of Brazil. Made from a sugar cane-based rum, it was similar to a sweeter margarita with a very refreshing and strong lime kick. Their burrito was fantastic! I loved how you could specify what kind of beans, including retried, which is a special treat. Their veggie options include chickpeas and cauliflower, which brought it to a whole new savory vegetable game and puts them high in my list for a burrito spot, given the generous guacamole and Mexican rice. Service was very friendly! As more people start to come, it will make for a very festive vibe!
google avatar

Sonali L.

Yelp
The service and prices are great, and the food was average. Burritos are definitely more worth it than the tacos
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Our order tonight was really disappointing. Here's the order: 1. Carnitas tacos: the carnitas were over dried out and inedible. I won't use "crispy" to describe them b/c the outer crispy pieces complement the rich tender soft parts. The chunks of pork tonight had been way overworked & retained no juiciness at all. There was no house salsa added. They were plain and dry with cilantro & chopped onion. 2. Blackened Cod Fish Tacos: These at least had a little pineapple slaw to add some flavor. The fish tasted fresh & was cooked well. The only thing missing was some kind of sour cream/Mayo/lime crema. These could have been 5/5! 3. Rice & Refried beans side. Both tasted fine, not standouts by any means. Here's what killed us. They were $5.75 EACH. So we paid $11.50 for rice & beans side. The catch is, they come in canisters that accommodates somewhere between 5-10 ounces. See pics. It almost seemed like a joke. We like that they use "Dispatch Goods" to send their food out. Maybe it was an off night. Tacos need salsas! They are part of the symphony that make tacos so amazing!

Heather W.

Yelp
We came with a large group of people in town on business and while they couldn't accommodate all 15 of us sitting together we were lucky enough that we staggered our arrival and they were able to seat us at 4 different tables. It was so lovely and cozy and the decor was fun and whimsical. We were there at the end of happy hour and the drink menu was strong but feel like the food could've had a little more to offer. We ordered food off of the full menu and it was delicious. Everyone loved everything that was ordered. The shrimp tacos were the big hit. Service was good, staff was friendly and our food came out so fast! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Met up with a couple of local friends for a few casual drinks and a bite to eat. Good, friendly service. Drinks are reasonably priced. Recommended is the jalapeno cocktail. Slightly spicy yet sweet due to the sugar syrup. The food was good - we had nachos and tacos - nothing special, but certainly far from poor. Get your teeth into the pork tacos. We would head there again for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a cute spot for drinks, tacos, and a good time. Love, love, love the decor! Super funky and relaxed which makes for a perfect time with friends. The server with the long beard and glasses (I feel terrible for not catching his name) was also great. We had the best convo about SF and the bay area. I had the Cantra margarita, "I left a peach of my heart in SF", and the churros. If you like spicy drinks, ILAPFMHISF is for you.I got it with the Mezcal instead of tequila which also gave it a nice pop. The peach was pretty subtle but overall it was good. The Cantra was an average margarita with a touch of orange. As for the churros, I'm a churro LOVER. I should probably write that somewhere "a churro lover, not a fighter" lol. These churros were highly recommended on Yelp so I figured I would try them. Unfortunately, I did not like them at all. They were pretty standard and I feel like I could get them anywhere. No soft inside, crispy outside which sucks AND they were pretty pricey.. BUT, I will say that I've had much much worse so all things considered, I ate them. The cream on the side did help a little. Overall, I would come back to this spot for sure.... I just wouldn't get the churros.

Yelp
We stopped by for a nice refreshing drink, it's was a beautiful day with awesome friends so why not. We were a bit hungry but we were indecisive on where to land for dinner. So, we started with some mescal & fresh tortilla chips accompanied with fresh pico de gallo. I will tell you it was just the beginning. The mescal was amazing, Smokey and smooth. Tortilla chips were fresh and salted to perfection. I'm a chip fanatic and a bit of a snob, what can I say. It's an addiction. Lol, who's with me? The margaritas were a steal, $5.00 a pop! Yes, FIVE dollars! Tacos were all you can eat for $12.00 you get 2 at a time. They were alright, nothing fancy...still chips are at the top. We did order a unicorn drink special and 2.00 went to the LGTB community, why wouldn't we right. We will definitely be here on a Tuesday hopefully very soon!

Xurke X.

Yelp
Mediocre food and service. Food: Burrito bowl was tiny. Came with a ton of chips instead of more rice/beans and meat. Speaking of, it meat was kind of cold. Service: The server guy (middle age gentleman) wasn't very nice. He looked like he was stressed out and the restaurant wasn't even full. Ambiance: It is kind of nice and cozy but it doesn't cut it. Me and my friends are not going back. We have many other and better options in SF.

Yelp
Needed a pretty relaxed spot to come to before heading to SFO. Consulted with my friend who lives in the city, and he said this was one of his go-to spots in SoMa. Fairly limited menu as far as options go. Had the Azucarrito (super burrito) with carne asada and without beans. Solid, not spectacular. If you're in a pinch for Mexican food and don't really wanna go all the way down to the Mission, this will suffice. Service here is impeccable. Very friendly staff, accommodated our fairly large contingent of luggage with no issues whatsoever. It's also fairly spacious in here. High ceilings and the tables were spread out very well. Felt very comfortable in here. Wouldn't mind coming back here for sure.

Yelp
Went on a Monday night and was blown away by the atmosphere, service, food & drinks. I've been underwhelmed by almost all the Mexican/Latin restaurants that I've visited over the past couple years in the Bay Area so I visited Azucar reluctantly. The minute you walk in, you can instantly sense the place is different. I'd recommend it for a date night or small group outing with friends. Received a special Monday night menu and tried various appetizers. All were excellent, I'll be back to try other items on the menu. You should check it out as well.

Yelp
My group of three was actually headed elsewehere when we decided to walk into Azucar Lounge on Friday, November 17th around 10:30pm. There were a few people here, but all the tables had reserved signs, so we were sat at the communal table by the bar. *Chicharron de Harina: puffed rings of pasta, chili pequin, lime ($5) *Oaxacan Peanuts: roasted with garlic, arbol chile, lime ($4.50) *Queso Blanco: jalapeno, parmesan sauce, house made tortilla chips ($9.50) *Sangria Blanco: chablis, house herbs and spices ($8) *Michelada: mexican lager, lime juice, mexican spices ($9) *House Margarita ($9) x2 *Casadores Reposado ($11) x5 We really only came here to drink, but ended up getting some snacks. I only tried the queso cuz I'm a cheese fanatic. It was ooey and cheesy, though I do prefer an orange queso over white. I think it's a comfort thing. The other apps seemed okay though the peanuts were kind of burnt. Maybe they were roasted for a tad too long as there were some black and bitter pieces. For the drinks, I got the two margaritas and two shots. They didn't have a standard marg on the menu, so our server just had the bartender make me one. It was fine, but I wanted it stiffer, so I had them add a shot to my second one. Glad we stumbled upon this place, but I ended up being baffled by all the reserve signs as we were the only people in the bar towards the end of our two hour stay here. Would have been way more cozy to sit at one of their comfy tables. Maybe it's a crowd control thing, but if I were to ever come back, I'd definitely reserve a table instead. Those bar seats were not comfy. Oh well, now I know.

Yelp
Pozole served every day, not just weekends! I just had their pozole to go and let me tell you.. it is delicious!! A must try! Plus they give you fresh herbs, hand made tortillas, shredded cabbage, and a lime wedge. They have other yummy items in their menu as well as mixed drinks and definitely have a variety of tequilas and mezcals.

Yelp
Really good drinks and food! I had the drink special for the night (sorry can't remember what was on the menu that day) the ingredients were something I had not expected to go well together but damn it was delicious. The service was great as well! We had the chips and guacamole and the churros, the churros were definitely the highlight.

Yelp
Gimme some of that good ol' Azucar baby! The Azucar lounge is a Mexican bar located in the SOMA district of San Francisco off of Folsom street. It's one of those establishments where if you blink you might just miss it! Tucked away on a street corner, this lounge provides a very low key and intimate setting as well as a variety of cocktails and Mexican bar bites. I came here for a UYE about 3 months ago and had a really nice time here! There was a large group of about 20 of us that night. Although this lounge is on the smaller side, it definitely had enough room to accommodate our large group! The decor is very hip and modern with lots of color and dim lighting. The bar itself has limited seating but the lounge area is situated with tables and sofas all throughout. I must mention that I also thoroughly enjoyed the music selection that night. Not sure if it was a mix or a DJ that was spinnin', but they were seriously KILLIN' IT! I only had one cocktail that night which was one of their signature cocktails called the Azucar. It consisted of tequila, chartreuse, lime juice, grapefruit juice, agave syrup, and their house made habanero tincture. I have to say that it was definitely a lot more bitter than I would have liked it to be. I generally like sweet cocktails, so this was a bit of a miss for me. I also thought that they skimped out on the amount of the cocktail that was given to me. It was loaded with ice and the glass was only filled halfway. Although, I wasn't pleased with my cocktail, others in our group seemed to really enjoy theirs. I will definitely try something else next time around. Our group had a pretty nice spread of bar bites going! We ordered chicken wings, shrimp tacos, chips and salsa, chips and queso dip, and quesadillas. Everything tasted pretty good for the most part! The shrimp tacos could have used a little more flavor in my opinion. However the real standout here was that queso sauce! I almost ate the whole damn thing by myself! The sauce was warm, creamy and melty! It was complimented with a nice kick of jalapeños which I absolutely loved! I would highly recommend getting this as one of your appetizers. I promise you won't stop eating it until it's gone! The chicken wings were also finger lickin' good and I really enjoyed the flavor of the rub. The atmosphere here was really wonderful! It was very casual and low key, perfect for just about any type of setting. The also have some bomb happy hour specials here including discounts on cocktails, beer, and wine! They have happy hour from 3-close on Mondays and from 3-7 Wednesday-Sunday! That's a pretty nice deal considering that most places end happy hour at 6 and don't have it on the weekends. Overall, it's an excellent choice for having a nice outing with friends!

Yelp
| 5/5 for $5 margaritas, 4/5 for service, and 2/5 for the $12 unlimited tacos | Come here for their $12 unlimited Taco Tuesdays! I came with a group of 8 people and luckily for us they take reservations. The only caveat is that they charge $20pp that doesn't show up and you have to let them know by 5PM the day before if they need to modify the reservation. It's farther away from some BART stations and where I work which is why I haven't been before. It's a cool corner shop that from the moment you walk in you hit the tables and if you walk to the right side a smaller bar. | DRINKS | The margaritas are delicious! For $5 a pop you can't go wrong with these when you get your tacos. They have the perfect ratio of ingredients. I was weirded out at first since they used black salt and got confused what was on the top of my drink. lol | FOOD | You can't really beat $12 unlimited tacos in SF. It's a great spot to bring people if you're trying to get the bang for your buck. I wasn't a huge fan of them since you only have the choice between 2 tacos (veggie or meat which is ground beef). The tortillas were soft and didn't feel warmed at all and the meat not seasoned well. It's only $12 so don't come in with crazy expectation that they're going to taste like what you'd get from your local taco truck. But if you're just trying to do Taco Tuesday without going broke this is a good place to go. | SERVICE | Our waitress was always on it and made sure that we ordered more when our plates or cups were empty. I think she did get a little flustered when the place got more crowded because near the end of our time there she forgot to bring some taco and drink orders to our table.

Yelp
Cozy lounge Had a group of seventeen meet up here for cocktails and tacos one Saturday evening and had great service from the owner who accommodated such a large group. We had a great time lounging around the long couches, love seats and sofas over chips and salsa, carnitas, tacos, and drinks and, yes, we took up that much space. Unfortunately, hubby and I just came from a Brazilian rodizio prior to our meet up so I didn't get a chance to try any of the food. I did have a daiquiri. Azucar is a Mexican bar lounge and isn't very big but surprised how the place is always full. We were there for three hours and at any given moment it was never empty with patrons. The ambience was filled with music in dimmed lighting and the setting very casual and relaxing. As i mentioned earlier there were sofas, lounge chairs, bistro tables, high tables, benches, and loveseats... plenty of ways to relax and take it easy. The music was loud so you need to almost yell to talk over the music. That was the only thing that was a negative to me. To order food and drinks we placed our orders at the bar to the left as you enter the lounge. They kept running tabs per customer. There is another bar in the back section of the lounge for hard liquor if that is your preference. Great place to hang out with friends. There was also a fun photo booth in front for $4. Parking can be challenging. All metered street parking. Review #0669

Yelp
I ordered the carne asada burrito through DoorDash and it almost made me puke. The carne asada was so salty and chewy and I had to take it all out. I barely ate bits and pieces and it's the worth burrito I've ever had. The chips were a bit stale.

Yelp
This neighborhood gem is a great place to chill with friends, get some Mexican food, and have a cocktail or two. Love the friendly staff and cozy environment (read: arm chairs and couches), and the food and drinks are excellent. I usually indulge on a burrito or tacos, and Tia Sarah's cookie is not to be missed -- yum!! I always leave full and happy. Also a great place for brunch or take-out.

Yelp
Forget Tacolicious! This place is amazing. I work right next to a tacolicious and I will go out of my Way to come here. Amazing food, great vibe and atmosphere. I appreciate this spot so much. You can't go wrong with the tacos and guacamole and a great marg. Thanks for being the plug, Azucar.
