Came here twice , the first time there was an elder man who was quiet but was nice and took my order . Food was good so I wanted to come back again hoping to have found my go to Mexican food cart . My second visit is why I’m giving it a 2 star I sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for someone. The sign said open I assumed maybe he stepped out for a break or something . At first I shouted “hello” to see if anyone is there with no response, 5 minutes later ended up calling the number and heard someone’s cell phone go off and out of the very corner a young kid came up to answer phone . I told him that’s just me but he did not respond to me he kept trying to answer the cell phone. He went right back to the corner and ignored me and again I asked him”hello” and “are you open?” The kid gives me the blankest stare like he did not care at all and just said “what will you order” I asked again “are you open?” And again he said “what will you order” from this point on I waited almost 20 minutes my lunch break is already almost over so I just gave up on this place. The kid had no interest in serving anyone so I didn’t want to waste any more of my time or apparently his . Food from the first time was pretty good but what I’m seeing from other reviews with similar problems the service could be better. Don’t hire kids (related or not) if they don’t want to be there .

The food is alright, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's meh. The younger guy working here is the most hostile person. Not just "I don't like my job" but more "I'm about ready to get out of this cart and start beating customers." I've always tipped well and been polite. You'd think we're in a blood feud though. This last time he was non-verbal and barely acknowledged my presence. He also arbitrarily raised the price for me. Sometimes I notice the cart is open in the evenings but left unattended. Probably doing me a favor. There's an older gentleman who works in the afternoons mostly. He seems to take more pride in his cooking and is very polite. I'd recommend this place if you see him working.

Google
I love Mexican food so I always try out random carts and places I see on a whim. Wish I would've checked the reviews on this place. The young man at the counter (who I'm seeing everyone in the reviews also has had negative experiences with) looked at me dead in the eyes for about 10 seconds and then slammed his knife down on the cutting board when I was trying to order something. I should've just left, but I ordered and gave a nice tip thinking that would dissuade him from spitting in my food (even though all I've done thus far is try to order). I get my food, (not my horchata though, had to ask for that) and the burrito I received was practically inedible. Incredibly salty steak, tasteless rice and guacamole sauce made with rotting avocados. Avoid this place at all costs.

Google
Tucked away in a cozy corner of a cart pod off Powell Blvd, Azul Tequila Taqueria offers a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine. On my recent visit, I indulged in their carnitas tacos, and I must say, the pork was a true highlight. Tender and bursting with flavor, though a tad on the greasy side, it delivered a satisfying punch. Topped with fresh cilantro and onions, each bite offered a delicious burst of authenticity. While the corn tortillas provided a sturdy base, a bit more time on the flat top would have elevated them to perfection, infusing that coveted charred flavor. However, the accompanying green sauce stole the show, striking a perfect balance of mild heat, tang, and pepperiness. It provided a delightful extra layer of flavor that complemented the tacos beautifully. Overall, Azul Tequila Taqueria offers a delightful culinary experience, with room for a few minor tweaks to reach perfection. If you're craving authentic Mexican fare with a cozy atmosphere, this spot is worth a visit.

Google
Food was ok, although burrito was not wrapped properly. The primary reason for this review is the terrible attitude of the guy working the food cart. He was in the back ignoring me for more than 5 minutes. He doesn’t say anything, just takes your money. I would not recommend this place.

Google
I ordered three tacos: cactus, vegetarian, and organic. They were all full of flavor and fresh. I ordered rice and beans. They were cold. They were not good. $17 for a taco truck's three veggie types of tacos, rice, and beans. Due to their busy food truck area, I assume their rent is higher than usual.

Google
Recently I stood there for 5-10 minutes and the guy was right behind the counter doing food prep. He didn’t look at me or say anything to me. After a while I asked if they were open and he just said “I don’t know, check the sign.” Pretty rude. Other visits the food was very average.

Google
Tacos were authentic and tasty, my favorite was the carne asada. No frills food truck. We went right when they opened and service was quick and easy. My wife got the breakfast burrito and it's a lot of food! Nice picnic tables outside, we got some sun so that helped a lot!

Yelp
Terrible experience. The young man working the grill today was SO RUDE. He was irritated we were there at all. I asked him if they had chilaquiles and he stared at me like I had something on my face. I asked again and he rolled his eyes and turned his back. A very nice woman answered my question and I was able to order from her. She was great. I ordered the taco salad, no meat. The guy didn't tell me it was ready, I had to go up and ask, which he was also annoyed about. I get back to our table and realize I didn't get a fork or any napkins, so I just had a friend ask at the truck she went to, rather than disturb his majesty at the grill. I open the box -- the taco salad was SO small. I can't believe I got charged $15 for basically canned refried beans, lettuce shreds, and two pieces of grated cheese (see photo). Possibly the least underwhelming food truck experience I've ever had. Don't bother.

Yelp
An experience bad enough to make me redownload the Yelp app. :( Tonight I was ignored for 15-20mins, making me think maybe the fellow (who definitely knew I was there) had gone on break. I was trying to be patient and respectful... I finally gave up and left. 3 minutes later, the person behind me in line found me to say he'd just put an order in-- the guy had been in the truck the entire time. Incredulous and confused, I returned to put in an order. I picked it up about 10 minutes later, said "thank you very much," and went to catch a bus, feeling foolish. I had a moment to sit before my bus arrived, so I uncovered the plate for a bite and learned that I'd been given 4 of my 5 tacos. It wasn't worth losing more time (and missing more buses) to go back, so now here I am. In retrospect, I guess I wasn't imagining that he seemed unhappy to take my order, but I honestly don't understand. I'd only ordered from this cart once before, months ago, and that was uneventful. Message received, though... I'm never ordering here again. Maybe he thought I was someone else? I'm at a loss. So anyway, if you want to get your feelings hurt for unknown reasons and end up having a dumb cry on a bus, by all means, try eating here.

Yelp
CHANGE of OWNERSHIP is obvious. And the slow decline in the quality of food has started. I'm really torn about continuing to try them, to give them a chance. I always hate when something I loved is ruined. I think they are even changing ingredients, which means that it's becoming Something Else!!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
We went to this food truck area and there were maybe 5 to 10 other food trucks. All of my family members went to choose their own food truck to try and I decided on this one. I went up to order and they turned me away saying they were closed. That's fine, I went to pick a new spot. While waiting for my order from the new spot I see this food truck taking customers' orders, it was less than 10 minutes later. I normally don't like to give bad reviews but I felt like this was completely rude. They could've at least given me the option to wait a few minutes for them to set up instead of saying they were closed. Their sign said open, and their hours were open, yet they said they were closed and wouldn't take my order. I would not recommend this place based on its customer service.

Yelp
Consistently tasty, and consistently nice people working there! Spicy tinga chicken is delicious and they have plenty of veggie options. They can make you anything you want, why would you go to boring chipotle?! If you prefer wonder bread to actual bread, go to chipotle. Otherwise check these guys out

Yelp
Not good. Dry and tasteless just go Somewhere else. I had the tacos one of each type of meat. Not one was good. I tossed it it was that bad.

Yelp
Flavor: Excellent Wait: 15 mins. take out. Price: Good Service: Good Packaging for take-out: Good Lime: Dry! UPDATE: From 5 stars to one star. Reason: Both my husband and I, got sick! :(
google avatar

Delaney K.

Yelp
Really really bland and dry. Carnitas tacos were rubbery and I had to add a ton of my own hot sauce to give it any flavor/moisture. Even the salsa verde that came with was a bit tasteless. I'm a bit upset I paid as much as I did for this meal- it wasn't cheap.

Yelp
I wasn't just happy that Azul TT was open for business during the COVID19 virus (because I was sick of fast food and grabbing something from the Safeway deli), but thrilled that they moved to walking distance to my house!! From Montevilla to Powellvilla (okay, not really. My hood is actually called Powellhurst-Gilbert, but that doesn't sound as good as these tacos taste!) A new grocery store is replacing the Original Taco House and a food cart pod has opened up on the east side of the store. Yay!! That is one more wonderful thing for my neighborhood. I had just planned to get something at the grocery store but because Azul TT was open, it was a no-brainer to get my dinner here. They have so many tacos, and it was chilly outside, so I asked the chef (I forgot to get his name) to just pick a few for me while I waited for him to make them as I sat in my car. Bummer that I also forgot to ask what he chose, because they were deee-lish!! I asked for the 2 most popular and I think 2 were beef and 2 were pork. I guess next time that is what I will just have to ask for; "The most popular" and see what I get. I am a cilantro and onion freak (as well as a fresh taco freak) so I loved all of that, as well as the hot sauce he gave me on the side "Hot, but not too hot". During this trying time, it was very assuring to see hand-sanitizer out front and a sparkling counter top. He showed me his bleach bottle and that he was wearing gloves, but also had a big box of gloves. The Costco size! I knew that, not only was I going to get a fantastic dinner but that it was very safe to eat there (honestly, I think most food carts are the safest place to get food, because they are cooking right in front of you instead of a closed off kitchen). If you live anywhere between the Ross Island Bridge and 52nd, you now have food carts to call your own.

David C.

Yelp
Done with these fools. 3rd time they've not been open when they're supposed to be. "Back in 30 minutes." "Back at 2:30." Then today, "Closed". Sure the food's pretty good but I told myself on the walk over, "If these cats aren't open today-- DONE, SON!!!". Guess what? Adios amigos, it was a good couple of visits, but I ain't got time for this sh**.

Yelp
The most delicious food cart in the vicinity. Authentic Mexican Cuisine located adjacent to Chipotle (gross) of all things. And they will even make your burrito a reono, never seen that in Portland before. I grew up on Roach Coaches and can promise this may actually be the best one in the city.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok..... awesome food, great prices, fast service and a very friendly owner. My wife and I both had the burritos. She had shrimp and I had steak and they were both really good. This is one of the best food trucks around. I would definitely recommend eating here if you're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
one of the best mexican food in portland!!! rice and beans are undefeated. as someone who used to live in california this is the kind of mexican food i wish portland had more of!
google avatar

Yelp
Very large burrito, great flavor and friendly cook. Asked for mole it is $1 extra and worth it
google avatar

Casey L.

Yelp
Decent tacos, but the meat was pretty dry and you have to ask for lime. 3 star for the food but 1 star for the attentiveness of their employees. Stood in front of the window for about 8 minutes without being acknowledged while they had two working the grill.

Yelp
We went out later than usual to eat, I would guess about 8 pm, so there wasn't much open. However, we were famished and ended at a cart pod which contained Azul Tequila. As a rule, Ron doesn't generally like food carts. However, this group of carts is newer and very clean. Parking is plentiful in their off-street lot. We investigated all the menus and found Mexican food here at Azul Tequila looked good from the pictures and Menu descriptions. There was plenty of very clean seating and garbage receptacles nearby. I had a carnitas burrito and Ron had a fajitas burrito. The gentleman who helped us was friendly, but talked on his phone continuously while taking our order AND cooking it. This did not impress us, but our burritos were nicely prepared and full of the requisite goodies. Ron's burrito had a ton of grilled veggies and black beans, and the pork in mine was plentiful and tender. They were definitely a good value at about $7.50 each. They were tasty, but there was not salsa of any kind to give some moisture to these dry-ish burritos as well as an extra flavor punch. I'm taking points off for the cart owner being on the phone mostly the whole time while helping us and for lack of availability of a selection of salsas. Otherwise, the food here is AOK with a good selection of everybody's favorite Mexican dishes.
google avatar

Taylour V.

Yelp
The person taking orders and money was curt. The chimichanga was sub average for the price. Meat was dry and it was mostly filler-all rice. Bland. No lime and had to ask for sauce.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Wow. I know I don't have Covid, but everything we ordered had ZERO taste. Pastor was so bland I would have had a better meal licking the concrete...and getting covid.
google avatar

Jacob K.

Yelp
Had a chile relleno burrito and it was great, quite decadent for a veggie burrito, greasy but in a good way. This Yelp listing should be updated--It's on Powell now near 35th, over by Holy Trinity etc. Hours are also expanded from what are shown here. The google listing is up to date.

Yelp
There are lots of food carts in the tidbit pod. Hawaiian, Mediterranean, Thai, Italian, American etc. Even with all these choices I am always drawn back to Azul for some delicious Mexican. I have come here 4 or 5 times and I always order the same thing, carne asada tacos. I get 3 if I am hungry and 4 if I am famished. They load the tacos up with lots of meat and garnish with cilantro and onions. I always ask for a lime on the side because I like that extra acidity squeezed on top. The meat is fresh and flavorful. I like the green hot sauce smothered on top. It's flavorful but still has a nice kick. $2 for a taco! Cheap, big portions, and delicious! They have a huge menu that I have to try, but I'm just so happy with the carne asada tacos that it's hard for me to order anything else. Every time I go it's always the same two friendly guys that work there. Over the past month or so, they have gotten significantly busier. I use to only wait 5 minutes for a taco, but if you go during prime lunch or dinner time now, just be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes. Everything is made fresh to order and believe me it's worth the wait. Just walk around food carts or try to find a table while you wait. Enjoy and happy taco eating!
google avatar

Patrick W.

Yelp
This Mexican food here is excellent and cheap. I tried the chicken burrito the first time I stopped by this food truck and loved it. I returned to the Tidbit Farm pod on my last day in Portland to try Hapa and the server noted that Azul has the best fish tacos. Since I love fish tacos, I knew I needed to order one to try it. The tacos definitely live up to the hype. The tilapia is fresh and very smooth. It is also just $2. I highly recommend this food truck if you enjoy Mexican food. If you are visiting Portland or hiking in the nearby area and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me through Yelp and I can share my itinerary, which includes my Yelp reviews. The information for an electronic copy can also be found via my Yelp profile.
google avatar

Carmen P.

Yelp
So many choices at Tidbit yet I succumbed to try the taco and burritos here. Alas it wasn't fantastic and feel a bit cheated as I have lost precious stomach space to try other food trucks in that pod. Tried the $2 chicken and the pork tacos, and chicken burrito. Wasn't authentic tasting enough but at least the portion sizes were good.

Tim P.

Yelp
Friendly, fresh, and good flavor. Customer service was on point making my boy a new batch of horchata near closing time.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Thank goodness we have Mexican food now in Montavilla. It was a Mexican food desert out there, and Azul Tequila Taqueria solved that problem. Very good food, friendly people, parking, and outdoor seating round it out. Love that they have both black and pinto beans. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too. YAY! Love being able to eat Mexican, go up the street and catch a movie at the Academy.
google avatar

Heather J.

Yelp
Have come back twice more and had another bean/chz burrito as well as a soyrizo burrito. Really no flavor at all. My partner had a chile verde burrito and said it was great so maybe this place just doesn't cater to vegetarians, after all :-( The salsas were very bland too and for $7 a burrito, it's even more disappointing. Sigh...
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
As of this post, Azul's second food cart is parked at the Tidbit pod. Sometimes, the panda just wants a standard Mexican burrito. Very reasonable prices here, and the Carnitas burrito ($5.50) fits in the reasonable ballpark. Braised juicy pork, choice of pinto or black beans, Spanish rice, fresh guacamole, and pico de gallo inside a flour tortilla. Juicy pork, properly prepared. Good beans and the right amount of rice. Enjoyed all the listed ingredients in the same bite. It may not be the biggest burrito out there, but I can't really complain. Good service and reasonable wait time. I wasn't asked for my option of pinto or black beans, so presumably, the default will be pinto beans unless you specify otherwise. Two types of hot sauce come with the burrito. The green one is likely tomatillo-based, while the orange hot sauce is creamier and slightly spicier. As for me, I'll just drink both and head home for something to really nuke my face. Friendly folks at this cart...go check them out!
google avatar

Brooke H.

Yelp
My fiancé and I both loved the food, we felt it was reasonable pricing, but good food quality. The only downside was the wait, it took them a bit longer than expected to get the food out.

Anton H.

Yelp
I've eaten here several times and I love their food! It has a unique and delicious flavor. Large portions. Decent price. The waiting staff have always been friendly and quick service. I will definitely be going back. For months I looked for a Mexican take out place; tried about 6 and was disappointed with them. Then I tried ATT and knew my search was over. Thanks for the great food! Tony
google avatar

Yelp
I had a chicken fajita of some sort. I forgot exactly what I got, but then again, it was pretty forgettable. I didn't notice any chicken in the fajita, it was more or less a very bean pasty meal, without much discernible taste. The salsas/hot sauces were equally mild and forgettable. I might try them again, but probably not.
google avatar

Nathan H.

Yelp
Really good! Great veggie options. Great hot sauce. Nice guy working there. I dig it.
google avatar

Miguel A.

Yelp
I'm Mexican myself, I've been cooking all sorts of cuisine since I was 4 years old. I usually don't expect much from my food when I don't prepare it myself but, I'll be damned if this isn't some good grub. I always judge a Mexican restaurant by their ability to prepare the most iconic and simplest of foods, Carne Asada Tacos. This place did not disappoint, not one bit. They're friendly, truly authentic food. I'd be so surprised if anything they prepare is canned because it all tasted so fresh and homemade. It's a bit out of my way as far as work lunch fares, but I do make the effort every now and then so that I can try a different item off of their menu. I've been there on several occasions and I have yet to eat anything I don't like. Oh, and they do accept credit cards.
google avatar

Spencer T.

Yelp
Good burrito, friendly owners, and late hours. Yay. I ordered the basic carnitas burrito, but since sour cream and cheese weren't included in the description, I had to pay to add them. That bumped the nominal $5.50 cost up to $6.50. At that point, it's still a buck or two cheaper than most of the entrées at the other foodcarts in the Tidbit pod. The meat was tender and good, though it didn't stand out as much as other carnitas I've had. The rice was fantastic! Definitely helped tie the whole burrito together. They offer black and pinto beans, though I didn't specify which I wanted. I got pinto, and they were good, though I found myself wishing for some more. The guacamole was serviceable, but not special. Needs more lime. I also was impressed with how well-wrapped the burrito was there. Probably the neatest burrito I've ever eaten. When I requested some salsa roja, rather than giving me a little cup of salsa, the cook gave me a whole bottle of it. Talk about hospitality! It was spicy and smooth, but might've used a bit more heat. I think I'll see about their other salsas next time I'm there. Azul Tequila is good, though I wouldn't say it stands out. I'd come here if I were in the area and craving Mexican food, though I might not make the trip just for them.

Yelp
Carne asade tacos were yummy, a tad greasy. But, the beans and guacamole were to die for! Fun to visit.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Food is very very delicious. I come here often. I work nearby and myself along with my other co-workers love this spot.

Yelp
Why can't the majority of taquerias in Portland make a decent burrito. This is terrible. Mushy crap excuse for steak and papas. Black beans and cheese, nothing more. Check out the other options on this pod, this one sucks.
google avatar

Daisy M.

Yelp
It was our first time trying the food carts in Montavilla. Both my h and I like Mexican so we drifted right over to Azul Tequila. We ordered burritos and "upgraded them" to have extras. I was asked for my name. I gave it. We sat directly in front of the cart. It seemed like an inordinate amount of time had passed and then we noticed other people who had ordered after us got their orders. My h went up to inquire and the girl gave him our food in a bag, (to go...which we didn't request). So....why didn't she call out my name when the order was ready? We were sitting just a few feet away from where she was and I'm certain we would have heard my name if only she had called it! It seems clear we were forgotten. As a result, our food was lukewarm. I liked my order ok, but my h said his was tasteless (and he ordered "spicy"). I want to try Azul again in the future, despite this not-so-hot introduction. I understand the tacos are good, and I want to like this place.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Visited Azul Taquila Taquería 2 a couple days ago. I ordered a steak green chile burrito with cheese. The thing was huge! And delicious. There's a couple tables to sit outside on a nice day, too. Friendly service, fresh tasting.

Polly H.

Yelp
I order a simple chicken burrito with no beans. I received a burrito that had beans and didn't see any chicken on it. Not sure if I got the wrong one but a little annoyed that I didn't figure it out until I got home.
google avatar

Hana F.

Yelp
The tacos are really good. Soft corn tortillas and juicy meat, it would be hard to beat this cart. I'm pretty sure they're the best tacos I've had in Portland. I love getting 3 different tacos. The price is great and so is the food!
google avatar

Kyla B.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place after I was satisfying a burger craving down the road and the boyfriend wanted a burrito. He got the burrito autentico, and we both took our food home. The look of satisfaction in his face led me to setting my Burger down and taking a bite of the burrito (not usually a fan of burritos, but again, THAT FACE). It was pure delicious, authentic burritoness. I can only really rate this one burrito because I have not deviated from this menu choice yet. It's that yummy. I can only imagine what the rest of the menu tastes like, so I will post an updates review in my next visit! The cart is clean, the service is speedy and there is plenty of space to sit as you want for your food.

Natasha M.

Yelp
Ok, so there are certain expectations when it comes to food carts and the 1st one is they are generally quick (ie. I should only have to wait 5 minutes max for a burrito straight off the menu). I waited well over 20 minutes for my food and then once I got it, it wasn't that good. This place is NOT worth the wait!

Aya L.

Yelp
I've only tried the burritos so far, but they are GREAT -- flavorful, spicy, full of meat. The chicken burrito is my favorite because of whatever sauce they marinate the meat in, it's incredible. And it's a HUGE amount of food for $6!

J. T.

Yelp
The picadillo burrito was pretty disappointing. It was basically a big scoop of rice. There was very little beef, raisins, peas etc. or flavor. Picadillo is a Spanish stew and this was not happening at the food cart. They even switched up the beans on me and gave me pintos when I had chosen negros. I think Division Street has better food than Azul Tequila in general and this was the most disappointing place I've sampled at the food carts.

P.J. S.

Yelp
I've had a steak burrito and a chicken quesadilla from here. The steak wasn't good at all, but the quesadilla was very delicious. Go somewhere else for your beef but if you want chicken check this place out

Ben C.

Yelp
I'm pretty particular about my Mexican food. Don't get me wrong, I'll eat pretty much all of it, but when it comes to quality I have some fairly high standards. That said, this cart is a rock solid choice. The Pechuga and Authentico burritos are excellent, as is the Zucchini burrito (one of their many great vegetarian options.) Service is fast and personable, truck is clean, prices are some of the best in town, but most importantly, the flavors are awesome. Caramelized onions and caramelized pasilla peppers in a burrito? This place is top notch.
