Google
Decent Japanese restaurant that has been in business for many years. Good variety of Japanese dishes with ample portions. Mostly authentic recipes and ingredients. I like that you can order traditional Japanese meals as well as sushi.

Google
Always love grabbing food here! A popular spot but their food quality is very consistent, large portions and so delicious! Tried their curry for the first time and it was so creamy and smooth, paired well with the salad and miso soup (not pictured)

I took a pick up order. The lady was a bit rude, I really fell that I was disturbing. I was very disappointed by the rolls, the avocado was black. There are big, too much rice, not good pieces of fish. I even got a piece of hard plastic in one of the maki. I will not eat there again.

Google
Always been our family’s favorite. Great selection of food. Friendly service.

Google
Nice place and delicious food. My daughter and I got in a good mood after having dinner here. Very nice staff. We liked that everything was fresh, the fish tasted amazing! We were also pleasantly surprised by the large portions and received a compliment from the establishment - free tea, which was very nice. By the way, the tea is very delicate and fragrant. And this is a quiet place where you can have a good chat with friends. We will definitely be back!

Google
First time trying Azuma and it was a nice atmosphere. The service was good and they gave us some beginner chopsticks. The food was okay. The rolls were decent, the chicken karaage was good but dry. The tonkatsu I had was crispy, but dry. Maybe it was an off day, but try out this to make your own opinion.

Google
Very generous cuts of fish on their sushi rolls! Great value for the quality. I recommend the Under The Sea roll - this was my favorite and had a good blend of flavors. A hefty roll! The Double Roll is also a great option for those who enjoy simplicity and one kind of fish in particular. The table shared the Beef Sukiyaki, which is on the sweet side. Very flavorful and packed with umami! I enjoyed this a lot. A good contrast from the sushi we ordered. I also tried the Escolar Nigiri, which was a thin cut. The quality was decent and the fish was fresh.

Google
Located at the end of a strip mall. Parking in the evening was easy. Had a good time here. Food was good, some sushi rolls were a little on the smaller side but not atypical for the area as are the prices. Staff were very nice. Not pushy or quick to have us leave after we ate. The overall ambience was nice but a little dated. It’s not an upscale restaurant but also not a hole in the wall type of place. The restrooms were clean but stuck in the 1980s and overall the restaurant could do with a remodel.

Yelp
Food is excellent, and the service is very attentive! Ambiance: I love the setting -- it's great for gatherings with friends and family. The tables are spacious, and the seating is very comfortable. One suggestion: I wish the tea were served hotter, and it would be even better if the tea had a more authentic taste, especially for an otherwise authentic Japanese dining experience.

Yelp
We were able to easily make a reservation the day of for dinner over the phone. We were seated as soon as we got to the restaurant but had to ask for menus. We ordered beef sukiyaki, salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura bento, Agedashi tofu, and Cali roll. We shared everything between 3 people and we are all stuffed! Our local Japanese restaurant closed a couple years ago and we have been looking for a replacement and this might be it! The restaurant had a lot of tables and it was pretty full when we got seated but it wasn't loud and overall a nice ambiance.

Yelp
They took so long to make the food and the restaurant was completely empty. Super slow service. The food used to be way much better as well. They changed owners and the quality has dipped. Seems like the restaurant is on its last legs.

Yelp
The sushi/fish quality is definitely good and this is one of the better sushi restaurants. We ordered edamame, tempura for appetizers; nigiri combo, dragon roll and Philly roll, plus the Japanese beer. The service is fast and welcoming. The inside also looks nicely decorated. There are plenty of parking outside. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Came by with some friends for dinner and potentially found another good sushi spot. The ambiance inside is very cute and the decor is fun. We were sat quickly on a Saturday night for 4 people. Our server was quick and polite. Everyone was happy with their rolls and they even added cute little designs to our plates! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I had a miso soup as well and it wasn't watered down or tasteless, very good.

Yelp
Been coming here for Christmas eve dinner for a couple years. We're usually a big group about 12-14 people. The servers come around pretty often. Food came out quickly too. I got a 2 item dinner to share with my toddler. She ate a little bit which is always a win. I've also came here with my toddler and they have a great lunch bento. They have a toddler cup but I wish it wasn't ceramic in case it falls. Other than that I felt comfortable coming with a toddler and will come again.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places to eat sashimi, as this has all we want from the japanese cuisine -- from udon to rolls to sashimis to fresh oysters. On our third visit, we ordered our usuals: fresh oysters,12 pc custom sashimi, chicken katsu, shrimp tempura. We also tried new ones such as the candy cane roll and the seafood noodle soup; we enjoyed both and plan to have them again next time. I highly recommend the candy cane roll especially because it bursts with so much flavor. Ambience is also good with the relaxing music in the background.

Yelp
I keep wanting to like this restaurant but service is so unfriendly and brusk. They don't take the time to explain anything. I food arrives at all different times for people. Check is left at your table with a word. It was pretty empty for a Wednesday night at 7 pm. They need to train their servers to smile and be friendly. We would have ordered more but the seats in the booth are so uncomfortable and we decided to leave. Parking is very easy in a strip mall.

Yelp
There's no shortage of good Japanese food in San Jose, but Azuma might take the cake for my current top spot! Service, lighting and ambiance inside, and food was all top notch. Uni $20 MP as of Sep 2024 - 9/10 Two rolls that felt generously filled and high quality uni. This was definitely on par with Santa Barbara, though it wasn't sourced from there or Japan. Delicious, one of the few times I've genuinely enjoyed uni! Sashimi Lover's Bento 9/10 Oh my gosh I love the yellow tail, salmon sashimi, and cucumber salad. Beautiful balance and great technique on the sashimi. My only qualm was the salmon rolls were not great, 5/10 for those. Girlfriend got a different roll that I forgot the name of, but also very tasty! Unfortunately for my wallet, I think I'll be coming back soon hehe.

Yelp
This was our first time at Azuma Sushi. My toddler niece loves having sushi with me for lunch, and her go-to is usually avocado rolls, miso soup, gyoza, and tempura, sometimes chicken teriyaki. We also ordered steak and scallop skewers which were pretty tiny. In addition, we ordered a sashimi assortment, unagi nigiri, and shrimp nigiri. Overall, while the food was good, I wouldn't place it among the top-tier sushi spots we frequent. The service was good--friendly and attentive--and the ambiance was authentic, with traditional decor and a spacious layout. We arrived late for lunch, so there was no wait, and parking in the plaza was plentiful. Since we were there right before their lunch closing, we had to eat quickly, which was a challenge with my toddler niece's slow eating pace. However, they didn't rush us at all. We had an enjoyable time, but given the many sushi options in the Bay Area, especially along Stevens Creek in Cupertino, we'd likely explore other places before returning.

Yelp
The Sushi was wonderful, the meal was tasty. The Service was Very good! My daughter was visiting and wanted to go there Tuesday and on her last night here wanted to again!

Yelp
The exterior of this restaurant looks interesting. For a Sunday evening, it's not crowded. Plenty of spaces to park in. The lights inside makes it dark and cozy, and there are tatami mat seatings for those who enjoy that vibe. Sadly, this is a restaurant I do not want to come back to. There was a splotch of odd-looking residue on the table that hasn't been cleaned. I didn't get to read the menu yet, and right when I sat down, they were pushing me to order already. It didn't feel pleasant. There were also a few small stains on the plates. The menu had a huge variety of items. I had grilled teriyaki chicken with rice, salad, and miso soup. The soup was fantastic. I felt the grilled chicken teriyaki could significantly have less sauce. The portion was generous, but I kind of felt stomach hurt after eating this meal. Sanitation is a big thing for me, and this impression didn't last well.

Yelp
Our family is ECSTATIC to know that Azuma has reopened for business! This is by far *the* best Japanese cuisine in the Bay! This is our spot! (It's family-owned too!) They have THE best teriyaki, THE best in-house salad dressing, *the* best tempura & tempura dipping sauce, *the* best gyoza & gyoza dipping sauce & SO MUCH MORE! Our favorite is the traditional Japanese seating areas & private room for larger parties. (We often have family meals there with many family members.) They offer regular chairs & tables too. Service can be hit or miss, but honestly we do not go there for the extraordinary service. We go there for the bomb food!

Yelp
Came here for dinner last week and it was the first time I had been back here in many years. The place has changed quite a bit since the last time I was here. Parking is still very easy. We were greeted and seated right away. The first thing I noticed is the lovely Japanese music that used to play in the background is gone, and it has be replaced with silence and the background noise coming from the kitchen. The lovely geisha girls wearing the beautiful Kimono's have been replaced my waitress dressed in all black. The service is very efficient but cold. I did notice there were no bussers clearing the tables, and that the restaurant seemed to be understaffed. Although the restaurant has lost its warmth and its charm, the food is still very good and the portions are very large. We all had leftovers to take home with us. The salmon teriyaki was delicious. I do recommend coming here for a meal.

Yelp
After all these years... Outstanding food, service, ambience, cleanliness. Has the bento box lunch plus one extra roll. Food came out at a perfect pace, service was well planned without being overbearing. From soup and tea until last morsel, all was delicious. Will return soon. Long may Azuma run!

Yelp
Awesome place. Went here a couple weeks ago and still can't forget about the food. Thought one of the waiter was ignoring me the whole time when I asked for check because there's a bigger party next to me.... But the old lady is nice and she came to help and made sure everything is good.

Maggie S.

Yelp
We ordered takeout sushi after a long day of work, and the Azuma Deluxe was just perfect! There was so much food that I couldn't even touch the extra spicy tuna roll I ordered, so I had it for breakfast the next morning. This restaurant has been a staple in Cupertino for as long as I can remember, and their food has always been stellar. Thank you for being a great place to eat!

Yelp
This place has been around forever since I was a kid. Not the original owners but the new owners have done a decent job keeping the original essence alive and many of the original menu items are still there. Always a good experience when we return and very family friendly while still maintaining an intimate and peaceful atmosphere.

Ellie K.

Yelp
I will not go here again. I frequently bring the customer lunch or dinner here and spent about 2-300 dollar for lunch and over 600 dollars for Dinner. Due to high spending, they have treated me and my customer very well. This time, I do not see anything. They charged every single things and even charged me for ice cream which is part of free service. I am disappointed. not sure how many customers can spend that much money

Yelp
Best pork gyoza I've had in my life. This place is a quiet gem. The Alaskan mango roll was pretty good, too, and among the nigiris, the tamago and ebi were really good, the maguro maybe a bit on the overly chewy side. Will be back, for sure!

Yelp
Not the best sushi place. The miso soup is served room temperature and is so bland. There are SO many places that serve better miso soup!! The Karaage items are incredibly dry and overcooked... The "service" is terrible. You have to get up and ask for help, because they completely ignore you once they bring the food.

Yelp
My mom, a mom's friend, and I all came to Azuma around 20 minutes before closing for lunch (1:40 when it closed at 2:00). We did feel rather rushed to order, but it is understandable since the kitchen would close and they would have to clean up and prepare for dinner time. Despite us ordering within 2 minutes of arrival, it did take some more time for us to actually receive the food and eat it so we left around 2:30. Allocate for an hour, there were a lot of people inside for a Thursday lunch actually! The ambiance and interior is beautifully decorated. It almost transports you to Japan itself, the sit down is worth it. We ordered the chirashi bowl, a 12 piece sashimi platter, nabeyaki udon, and sukiyaki combo with beef sukiyaki and tuna roll. It was a LOT of food for three people, so we finished the raw fish dishes first and took the rest to go. The nabeyaki udon and sukiyaki combo both came with miso soup that had an amazing broth, seriously the best miso that I have ever had. It also came with a side of salad! Chirashi bowl and sashimi platter was very delicious and fresh, the sushi rice from the chirashi bowl was delicious. I love salmon, the tuna texture was a bit older from this and the tuna roll in my mom and my mom's friend's opinion. Might have been a one off thing, though. The nabeyaki udon broth isn't salty at all, I practically inhaled all of it. The vegetables and chicken are very delicious and taste very unprocessed/have little additives in the way of admiring the quality of the ingredients used here. Beef sukiyaki was definitely the least favorite dish of the table, it was too sweet. We packed it to go and added some more of our own noodles and vegetables at home to dilute the strength of the flavor within it. We didn't want to add too much salt since sukiyaki is soy sauce based, anyway. Overall, it was a pretty solid meal in the Cupertino area. It's in a plaza that's easy to ignore, but there's plenty of parking and it was an enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Mm... ordered thru uber eats. Did not smell good when i opened the chirashi bowl. The fish itself wasn't bad but i dunno why it smells so fishy and bad. Would not get again.

Yelp
My sister booked reservation for 6:30pm. She wanted to change to 7pm because her friend was arriving late. I did not think it was good idea ( to change) since I thought they may get better service if keeping the earlier time. The restaurant's sashime was amazing. My brother ( visiting from out of town) ordered the 50 dollar sashimi I believe? There is another sashimi for 30 dollars. My Dad got some type of combo ( I recommend this) which you pick from a list of teriyaki's ( chicken, beef,Salmon) or other things or Sashimi. So for 26 dollars you can get both teriyaki plus sashimi which I think might be the best deal ( they should advertise this more to the public?) So he ordered that combo for mom and Dad got some seafood Udon for himself, I believe it was 21 dollars. Sisters friend ( who was late) ordered Yosenabe. i did not try it but her friend kept giving me her oysters from the Yosenabe ( seafood & chicken soup?) and they were the best cooked oysters I ever had. I had no idea why I deserved these oysters that were coming at me from her friend, wow, how many oysters did this soup have. I ordered the Ikura ( salmon eggs). Ikura is normally a tiny thing but I was tryng really hard to have a small meal so that the food would stay in me. Lately food has been going thru me ( I have issues) and not getting digested so I really wanted the Salmon eggs to get digested, that is why I was not eating much. Her friend kept giving me her oysters. The only complaint I had is the miso soups were not hot. The miso soup tasted excellent and flavour good but why was it not hot ? The only reasoning is maybe the restaurant thought we were coming at 6:30pm and we change our reservation ( or my family did) to 6:45pm. It probably drove them nuts....the kitchen thinking why these crazy people change their reservation and wondering if they were going to worry about a huge order coming. It would not be big deal if we were small party but we were 7 people and Im sure they have enough to worry about ( if they get busy) than wondering what we were going to order. They were well staffed that night ( or at least the kitchen). Its an open kitchen so all the sushi makers/ are outside but still a very nice looking calm restaurant. The only other strange thing is our server forgot to tell us which fish is what. The sashimi tray ( or huge boat) had great salmon, tuna but it also had 3 other great fishes which I had no idea...brother and sister ate most of it, I had 4 pieces. I just realized the restaurant only had one server ( one waitress) for the whole place ( and one hostess). Maybe that is why the server had no time for us which was fine, at least she got us hot tea plus took our order. But it had tons of kitchen staff. I never thought about this but its actually a good idea. To keep the orders coming out fast but the waitress really has to hussle and really be on top of things. Im sure the server has good nights but if they got way busy there is no way she can handle the whole restaurant ( can she?) But at least lots of kitchen staff so food can come out fast..? Hmm, I can think of 2 other restaurants that should adopt this method of having less servers and more kitchen staff so food comes out super fast....Just a thought.

Yelp
Azuma has been a Japanese Restaurant I've gone to since the late '70's. The Original Owner created a wonderful Japanese Restaurant with a local feel. The ambiance was amazing for the time and well as the service. Quality of the food / service was excellent which justified the little higher cost. Over all it was well worth it and was great to take a date or to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, the Original Owner sold (most likely to retire). And with credit to him, taught the new owner how to maintain the good flavors of the original menus. I have no complaint about the food quantity (maybe this is why Azuma survived the pandemic , etc...). The cost has gone up but is still reasonable . Sadly now, what is extremely lacking is the quality of service. What I mean by service is not after you get seated (which is fair), it is when you FIRST COME IN TO BE SEATED or put on the waiting list. Honestly, I have never seen a ruder bunch of waitresses and cooks. What use to be a Japanese greeting of " Irasshi mase ! " or welcome in English when you walked in , you are now ignored by not just one or two waitresses but by the whole staff ! They make you feel you are lucky to be eating at their average restaurant. No courtesy at all by acknowledging you and saying we will be with you in a minute. Or thank you for your patience !? No eye contact at all but plain rudeness is what you are greeted with. When you do this to me once, twice, and then three times (on three separate occasions !!!) then I feel you can kiss my patronage goodbye ! There are too many other restaurants around you who appreciate their customers. Especially, their loyal ones .... miss the Old Azuma's Owners and Staff !

Yelp
Tried a new item this time, dobin mushi, which is a very flavorful soup with chicken meat and spinach in a small teapot. The menu says seafood broth, I honestly couldn't taste any seafood or see any seafood in the soup but omg the flavors were so rich and delicious! It was served with 2 tea cups, really cute. Hawaiian poke salad was just ok, it's a bit spicy to my surprise. Green dragon roll is good as usual. Service is fine although she forgot one of my orders but she hurried up to make amends.

Yelp
Happy Lunar New Year! To celebrate after cooking a Chinese/Vietnamese feast for our family the night before, my hubby and I treated ourselves to some delightful sushi rolls from Azuma on Lunar New Years Day! I preordered our sushi rolls on Uber Eats and picked it up 20 minutes later - so fast and satisfying! Azuma has become our favorite sushi restaurant for the days when we have a craving for sushi and want something fresh, unique, and delicious, but don't want to wait a long time. We love trying the different inventive sushi rolls. This time, we chose the Alaskan Mango Roll, White Tuna Tataki Roll, Jungle Roll, and Crazy Crab Roll which were all perfectly presented in to-go containers. Once we got home, I like to transfer the rolls onto dinner plates so it feels fancy and worthy of a social occasion. I don't have a favorite one because they are each special in their own way. Alaskan Mango Roll has a creamy, smooth mango purée that scrumptiously melds with the mango and salmon topping. White Tuna Tataki Roll's mix of garlic ponzu glazed and slightly seared white tuna over spicy tuna inside is a subtle umami bomb. Jungle Roll may seem basic but the explosion of seaweed salad is anything but. Crazy Crab Roll, I admit, may actually be my favorite of all. The meaty soft shell crab tempura fried tops spicy tuna, cucumber, and avocado and drizzled with a sweet and tangy mystery yummy sauce. It's a chef kiss sushi roll for sure! Definitely hits the spot every time!

Yelp
Avg place, good for the price. Nothing special. items ordered: -salmon skin hand roll - very good -beef teriyaki bento box- avg chicken suyikyaki- surprisingly good. -salmon skin roll - was not good, rice was mushy and made w/ too much water. salmon skin inside was dry and seemed microwaved. Service - can be better. Asked for hot water and they forgot. We had to ask again. Overall, this place isn't expensive compared to other restaurants in the bay area so can't complain too much. You get what you pay for. If you are okay w/ that and are hungry and in a rush....maybe come here. Maybe.

Yelp
This has always been a solid, but a bit shy of best, Japanese place. I have been a regular and seldom disappointed, but never wow'ed. On this Sunday, many Japanese restaurants close. Azuma opens. I ordered Chirashi Don and Softshell Crab tempura. And I was wow'ed. They upped their game and clearly trying to elevate their quality. Look at that Chirashi! High quality fish, great variety -- even white tuna, and generous portions. The crab was perfectly fried with tempting crab aroma and just the right chew for the shell. It's the best seafood flavor fries! I will come back more frequently if they keep this up.

Yelp
This was a horrible experience. We entered the restaurant and stood there for around 10 minutes. There were quite a few seats available, and the waitress saw us, but no one talked to us. It seemed like the waitress does not speak English. This is a Japanese restaurant. I requested Calpico for a drink, but they didn't know what that was, and they didn't even clearly express what they didn't understand. They just kept mumbling , making us extremely confused. We requested white rice multiple times. They finally offered brown rice, and they took it away for another table. After we thought it was acceptable, we started eating. I ordered sukiyaki. Before I could finish, the waitress came to ask me if I was done. I said no, but she took it away anyway, even after I said multiple times to put it down loudly and clearly. Finally, we were putting these issues down on the receipt. The waitress came and asked impatiently, "Is there anything wrong? Why aren't you done?" Would not recommend this store due to the poor service.

Yelp
Was craving a chirashi bowl but didn't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money, and Azuma hit the spot! Went with a friend on a Tuesday night and we were glad that it wasn't too crowded so that we could stay socially distanced and have space to talk. The waitress was very nice and occasionally checked on us, but we never felt rushed or hurried. Menu is reasonably priced as well - the sushi rolls vary from $10-$15 and I appreciated how they had some pictures so I could see what they look like (and make my decision ordering a bit easier). Chirashi bowl was around $26 for 13 pieces of fish + other sides - it's not the super highest quality compared to high end $$$ sushi restaurants but they gave generous cuts of fish and I'll probably come back at some point to enjoy their sushi again. Peaceful ambiance and decent prices!

Yelp
Found this place purely by accident. We were running errands and indecisive about what to eat. Missed the turning lane and accidentally found this place in a strip mall. I decided it was fate that let us find this place. Walked in and found a table. I wanted oysters and ordered the kaki and also had the agedashi tofu. Food was great, service was great and its a quiet spot not overrun with lots of people. Now that I found it, will go back again.

Yelp
You don't come here for a Japanese sushi experience. You come here for sushi. The place is run by Chinese... I suspect they are from Hong Kong since they speak Cantonese. I was wondering about the quality and the authenticity of their food. Having said that we ordered an Omakase. 10 pieces for $42. I have had Michelin stars sushi restaurant in both America and highly regarded and recommended sushi restaurants in Japan. I actually liked it. Honestly they are trying to be creative why their sushi, adding monk fish liver and truffles to trigger your taste buds for a different level of experience. The quality of the fish use also very good. They even have Unagi fried rice and some other interesting dishes that as a foodie from HK, I'm quite interested to try but I'm sure condescending sushi experts will say it's not authentic but to me, it's the quality and the experience that matters (in this case, experience doesn't refer to service and I mean the service is good but don't expect a traditional Japanese style of service) I'm not going to comment on how individual sushi taste like with their approach but I was greatly satisfied with my Omakase. We didn't order anything else but I found value and quality at Azuma and I'm gladly to return again. If you are interested in dinner bento, the price is very reasonable at $14-16.

Yelp
We used to frequent this place years ago and we remembered it being good, so we decided we'd stop by since we were in the area. The decor is nice. The restaurant appeared clean and the ambience was pretty. The food was just okay. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but the nigiri rice was hard and conversely, the rice in the donburi was too soft. I like soft rice, but this was way too soft. The chicken teriyako bento box was good, but it wasn't anything particular special. We ate our meal, but we have had better. The service was fine. They weren't particularly friendly nor were they rude. We didn't have to wait long and they did refill our beverages. All in all, it wasn't bad, but I don't know if I'd return. If friends wanted to go, I'd still go, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat there. :(

Yelp
Excellent take out One of the original restaurants for Asian Japanese in the area was a favorite of my dad's Japanese businessman way back in the 80s

Yelp
Azuma has been open for several years and is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants around Cupertino! Over the years it's definetly gotten more pricey. There is a large variety of food you can order from sushi, bentos, stews, donburis, and more. Some of my favorites to order are the spicy tuna roll, unagi cucumber roll, agedashi tofu, and chicken karage. The service has always been super fast and the food is delicious and perfect to share and eat family style!

Yelp
Decor is mostly traditional Japanese. We had a booth with privacy. Cushions on wooden bench with back support. Service is attentive. Sashimi lunch dish is generous with the amount of fish and quality is pretty good. Rice, green salad and tofu miso soup comes with the lunch meal. Worth another visit for dinner.

Yelp
What a lovely gem of a restaurant! We got there about an hour before close as a "plan B" due to reservations at another place not working out--and I'm so glad those original plans fell through! The decor and ambience is warm and inviting. Some of the seating has sheer screens that offer a bit of privacy, which I've never seen before but I actually really liked. The service was good and we didn't feel rushed even though it was late. But what really stands out is the food. Every single thing we tried was just perfect. Nice portions, very fresh, the flavors were amazing, and the temperature was just as it should be for every dish. Their teriyaki may just be the best teriyaki I've ever had. We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I ordered Shrimp Tempura. I get a whole bunch of vegetables and ONE shrimp. Really? That's just false. It's fraud. not ok guys. You won't be in business long when you do things like that.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I was very young - I am now 59. My parents and I dined there back in the late 60s I believe. It was our go-to Japanese restaurant well before Japanese restaurants were trendy. I was very disappointed when I returned this past Fourth of July week with out of town family. We took them here, and were disappointed. The primary disappointment came when my friend looked at the table menu for sake options. He chose one listed as $16.95, but when the bill came, it was $21.95. The waitress took the issue to the owner, who said the table menu was for "the picture only." He refused to honor the price, which left a sour taste with us. If it were my restaurant, I would be mortified that I had appeared to try to trick my customers, and I would have rushed out with an apology and at a minimum offered the drink for free. The owner never so much as acknowledged us. The sushi portions are good, but they have lost a lot of the charming Japanese hospitality. No longer do you get a pot of green tea; in fact, you have to order tea. When I said "thank you" in Japanese (my parents were very into Japanese culture; I had my own kimono, went to Japanese school, and our house was built and landscaped to be very Japanese) to the waitress, she scoffed and said "I am Korean." Clearly a mistake on my part, but it is a Japanese restaurant and all I said should have been common knowledge to anyone working in a Japanese restaurant. Back in the day, all the people working there were Japanese. Again, I know people go there for the food, and it was good. I would not say great (although the green tea ice cream is still excellent) but I suppose I might just be sad that so much of the charm has been lost over the years. And that they were fine advertising one price and charging another is demonstrative of what Azuma's has become.

Yelp
Things have gotten worse every time I pick up food from here. This time there were at least 2 gnats cooked into the chicken katsu and rice. And the salmon in the sushi was strangely fatty and made us sick.

Yelp
I was hungry and craving sushi. There's literally loads of places within 5 miles of Cupertino/Sunnyvale that serves both poke and sushi and it's so hard to pick. I just wanted basic sushi but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Thanks to Yelp and their Grubhub integration I was able to figure out closest take out place that was $$ but not $$$$ and quickly order it and picked up within a reasonable time frame (30 minutes on a Saturday night). Outside doesn't look like much, I didn't even know this place existed. They are in the same plaza as JoAnn fabrics or if you have kids, next to Chuck E Cheese in Cupertino. When you go inside it's actually pretty clean, not super fancy, but casual and family friendly atmosphere. Normally the low to mid costs sushi places have flies around or looks dirty, but this place looks clean and the service is very welcoming. If you want to have a nice dinner or a date night or just want regular sushi, come here. I think this is a great neighborhood sushi restaurant and I can't wait to come back here with the family. 2 fancy rolls and 1 regular roll (~$41 with tax) later I was full and happy!

Yelp
This is our go to Japanese restaurant and has been for many years. The quality is consistently very good, service is friendly and overall a good dining experience. Their Agadashi tofu is legendary...

Yelp
YUM! We ordered from Azuma on Grubhub and were so happy with our order. We got the candy cane roll, 49er roll, and crazy mikado roll. The crazy mikado was delicious - I could have one every day. We also got tekka maki and tobiko, plus a miso soup. Prices were decent for the amount of food. My only criticism was that the miso tasted different than I'm used to, but that's just being picky. We will be back!

Yelp
Came here for a order to go, I ordered a chicken karaagge and a sushi roll. The chicken karraage literally was so dry and the person said it came with NO SAUCE... even though I asked for sauce, she said no sauce and was rude. The sushi roll tasted mediocre. The chicken was super expensive and was dry with one piece of lemon in it... I strongly don't recommend this place, go somewhere else guys this price isn't worth it

Yelp
Good solid traditional kind of American Japanese food. I have a connection with this place. My family were the first customers when they opened decades ago. My dad worked for city and made it a point to be the first customer if he thought he'd like it. We came here many times. My dad used to buy big bottles of the salad dressing to take home. It's still yummy. I can by in a break from working nearby. I had tonkatsu bento and tea. It came out quickly. The soup was tasty with more seafood flavor than you usually get. The tonkatsu was nicely fried, crunchy and not greasy. It came with some nice veggie tempura. A good, comfy place with good service. BTW My dad was the very first customer of Togo's when they opened their first shop.

Yelp
What was once great edamame is no longer. They charge $1.00 for a splash of spice and no longer add oil. The rolls are thinly sliced and only 5 pieces. I will not go here again. I'm tired of being ripped off.
